When I was still new to tf2, I watched this video thinking it would help me. I generally believed the default weapons and the gunslinger were horrible weapons, and I tried to avoid them as much as I could. Now that I’m a more experienced tf2 player, I can be able to tell which weapons can be the most effective, and which can be really useless.

gunslinger: 25 more health 3d punch is always a crit mini sentry on wearer wich can easily kill scouts and a mini sentry builds faster. the only bad thing about a mini sentry is: no upgrades, low health and not too much damage Its not bad, you just suck playing against it.

Sydney Sleeper? You only have to charge it like 20% to get the Jarate effect, and it helps the team so much. You don't get kills often, sure, but isn't the Sniper's role "Support?" Overall, this countdown just seemed very petty, especially the number 1. In your preface, you talked about the categories you would judge a weapon on (mainly being usefulness and aesthetic design), but for the Phlog and Number 1 you completely changed the rules. It was no longer a "bad design" list and became a "weapons I don't like for arbitrary reasons" list. This makes you lose a ton of credibility and makes you look inconsistent.

so true. I main pyro, and from time to time I use the phlog and it's a good weapon. it is a little brain dead, but w+m1 doesn't work if you don't have a medic. phlog is much better suited for single target damage, and when crits are active, group busting.
k shaw let me explain. the Sydney sleeper is a support weapon. It allows you to almost ensure that an enemy id going to die by your teammates. it can also do this death sentence more times than the regular sniper. also, there is a tiny bit of psychology. when you jarate a player, it makes them afraid to go into combat for the effect of the jarate. meaning, they are effectively dead for a bit. this can be used against medics, or soldiers and demomen. However, this weapon also encourages a different playstyle. other than targeting only medics, heavies, and other snipers primarily, you focus classes that you don't want on the battlefield. maybe a certain soldier, or demoman is making trouble for your team. or there could be a pyro rushing with w+m1. Wrapping up, the sleeper allows for a much more strategic and instance defined playstyle, and is much heavier on the team support/reliance spectrum.

I agree with most of this list, the two things I don't agree on being the Sydney Sleeper and the whole 'default weapons' thing. Firstly, the Sydney Sleeper's Jarate effect was implemented to make it easier for teammates to kill sodden enemies. You can coat enemies in Jarate quicker than other rifles can just straight up kill them, and that really helps your team. Remember, the Sniper is a SUPPORT class. Secondly, the whole 'default, un-customised weapons are bad' concept is the biggest load of bull I've ever heard. What difference does a festive reskin or name tag make. NONE. It doesn't add any gameplay effects, it just makes the weapon look slightly nicer. There is no difference between being killed by a default weapon and being killed by a festive / renamed weapon. Also, one more thing; by saying that default weapons are bad, you are essentially insulting the people who don't have the money to customise their stock weapons. Anyway, other than that, I agree with your guide, and it was very well made. Also, I'm just one person amongst millions, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt :)

i think it's the worst flamethrower though, airblast is extremely important and if you take that away it just becomes less useful overall. the backburner already has a decent crit system of it's own and it still has airblast, the dragon's fury does really good damage even if it's hitbox is cursed at the moment, the degreaser is a really good combo weapon for almost all secondaries, and stock is just stock. but the fact array was complaining about dying from it is kinda stupid.
The DF never worked right, when it was released the hitbox was too big, then in the Blue Moon update they shrunk it too much, and they haven't fixed it since. It could be a whole lot better if they fix the hitboxes.

Jorgen VonStrangle maybe you fail to realize that even if you make a weapon strange, vintage, renamed, add a description or give killstreak, festive, botkiller, or australium properites, it's still the same weapon. I'm one of those people who see a weapon for what it is as a base, not how fancy or comical it's been made by adding a fancy name or description. If someone were to name their default item to something epic or funny, I wouldn't care in the slightest. I've renamed my half-zatoichi to Muramasa simply because I enjoy calling it that more, but that doesn't make it anything more than the half-zatoichi. If you look at his top 10 weapons, he gave first place to the golden frying pan, which is just a reskin of melee weapons with a loud sound "because it suits tf2" as a classy and hilarious weapon. Reskins are on the same level as stock weapons, which are the same as defaults. In my mind, a weapon is made good by what it can do in combat, not what name it has or what flashy features it can get (like the back burner being turned into a reindeer for christmas of 2014). I expressed my opinion, have a problem with that?

Default weapons are the worst because...of reasons apparently. Just because it's not customizable? Because it's not killstreak, or painted? That just sounds like a rich kid complaining that other kids take a bus to school when they could just simply hire a driver to take them. In the entire video you showed pros and cons that naturally exist on the weapons and then you end with a complete no argument at all. "Oh it's ugly" "It has the default name when a game has so many customizations...". The game started without any, it was added later on. If those weapons really could be the worst the game would never be famous as it is. The thing is with the sniper, he is meant to be played as a support class, and the Sydney Sleeper is the perfect weapon for this. This is because the sniper is meant to stay back and get rid of enemies that pose a major threat to the rest of the team or actively help the team from a distance; the Sydney Sleeper does both of these very well by coating the target in jarate, leaving them vulnerable for eight seconds to mini crits from the whole team. This is incredibly effective for taking out targets like overhealed Heavies and soldiers; because of their slow movement speed they would not be able to get away in time to not get maimed by the team while contesting an objective. The jarate can also hit multiple targets, allowing for soldiers and demos to sometimes obliterate most of a team in something like payload or king of the hill. The faster charge time also means that it can be much more effective at medium range than something like the jarate; but hey, that’s just my take on it.
Dunno about you man, but I'd much rather a sniper on my team land a lethal shot and be done with it than hit a target with a debuff and say "go get 'em, champ". Enemies doused in Jarate are still perfectly capable of shooting me.

About the default weapons: When you're new, you have no chances to really get a reskin or a better quality without paying keys to open crates and get some festive weapons or strangeifier or paying them directly. You can get a machina or a quick-fix by the drop system, you can get a gunsliger or a bonk atomic punch with achievements, BUT YOU CAN'T get a lugermorph, a festive chargin' targe or a botkiller rocket launcher without paying for them or trading them or, sometime, buying other games. Moreover, qualities only means a special name color and, sometimes, an added effect for a lot of peoples. Everyone hates getting killed by a new hatless player, but that's the game. The weapons and the hats doesn't make the mann, only the skills do.

It’s strange to say, I actually find the piss rifle to be incredibly useful as a support sniper which sniper should be played as more often since you can get a shit-ton of assists, and you’re likely going to get more help from your teammates for doing them a solid One of my all-time favorite weapons is my Bottle, “Last Friday Night”

I actually agree with your opinion but disagree as to the reasons. I actually understood his opinion on the Phlog, as he said, it Promotes those behaviors, it isn't only useable in those situations but it's design promotes such tendencies. He is selfish don't get me wrong, number 1 shows that, sense he has such a big issue with default weapons, and i'm sorry, but there is no difference between default, and stock, they mean basically the same thing. However he b asically says he hates reskins (without stating it) and if you like the stock weapons, or use them in anyway, you should shell out the means to be able to get strange, killstreak, or at the very least a nametag, despite the fact that some people either can't or do not want to do such a thing. When I was still new to tf2, I watched this video thinking it would help me. I generally believed the default weapons and the gunslinger were horrible weapons, and I tried to avoid them as much as I could. Now that I’m a more experienced tf2 player, I can be able to tell which weapons can be the most effective, and which can be really useless.

Sydney Sleeper? You only have to charge it like 20% to get the Jarate effect, and it helps the team so much. You don't get kills often, sure, but isn't the Sniper's role "Support?"
Overall, this countdown just seemed very petty, especially the number 1. In your preface, you talked about the categories you would judge a weapon on (mainly being usefulness and aesthetic design), but for the Phlog and Number 1 you completely changed the rules. It was no longer a "bad design" list and became a "weapons I don't like for arbitrary reasons" list. This makes you lose a ton of credibility and makes you look inconsistent.

k shaw let me explain. the Sydney sleeper is a support weapon. It allows you to almost ensure that an enemy id going to die by your teammates. it can also do this death sentence more times than the regular sniper. also, there is a tiny bit of psychology. when you jarate a player, it makes them afraid to go into combat for the effect of the jarate. meaning, they are effectively dead for a bit. this can be used against medics, or soldiers and demomen. However, this weapon also encourages a different playstyle. other than targeting only medics, heavies, and other snipers primarily, you focus classes that you don't want on the battlefield. maybe a certain soldier, or demoman is making trouble for your team. or there could be a pyro rushing with w+m1. Wrapping up, the sleeper allows for a much more strategic and instance defined playstyle, and is much heavier on the team support/reliance spectrum.

I agree with most of this list, the two things I don't agree on being the Sydney Sleeper and the whole 'default weapons' thing. Firstly, the Sydney Sleeper's Jarate effect was implemented to make it easier for teammates to kill sodden enemies. You can coat enemies in Jarate quicker than other rifles can just straight up kill them, and that really helps your team. Remember, the Sniper is a SUPPORT class.
Secondly, the whole 'default, un-customised weapons are bad' concept is the biggest load of bull I've ever heard. What difference does a festive reskin or name tag make. NONE. It doesn't add any gameplay effects, it just makes the weapon look slightly nicer. There is no difference between being killed by a default weapon and being killed by a festive / renamed weapon. Also, one more thing; by saying that default weapons are bad, you are essentially insulting the people who don't have the money to customise their stock weapons.
Anyway, other than that, I agree with your guide, and it was very well made. Also, I'm just one person amongst millions, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt :)

i think it's the worst flamethrower though, airblast is extremely important and if you take that away it just becomes less useful overall.
the backburner already has a decent crit system of it's own and it still has airblast,
the dragon's fury does really good damage even if it's hitbox is cursed at the moment,
the degreaser is a really good combo weapon for almost all secondaries,
and stock is just stock.
but the fact array was complaining about dying from it is kinda stupid.
The DF never worked right, when it was released the hitbox was too big, then in the Blue Moon update they shrunk it too much, and they haven't fixed it since. It could be a whole lot better if they fix the hitboxes.

Jorgen VonStrangle maybe you fail to realize that even if you make a weapon strange, vintage, renamed, add a description or give killstreak, festive, botkiller, or australium properites, it's still the same weapon. I'm one of those people who see a weapon for what it is as a base, not how fancy or comical it's been made by adding a fancy name or description. If someone were to name their default item to something epic or funny, I wouldn't care in the slightest. I've renamed my half-zatoichi to Muramasa simply because I enjoy calling it that more, but that doesn't make it anything more than the half-zatoichi.
If you look at his top 10 weapons, he gave first place to the golden frying pan, which is just a reskin of melee weapons with a loud sound "because it suits tf2" as a classy and hilarious weapon. Reskins are on the same level as stock weapons, which are the same as defaults. In my mind, a weapon is made good by what it can do in combat, not what name it has or what flashy features it can get (like the back burner being turned into a reindeer for christmas of 2014). I expressed my opinion, have a problem with that?

The thing is with the sniper, he is meant to be played as a support class, and the Sydney Sleeper is the perfect weapon for this. This is because the sniper is meant to stay back and get rid of enemies that pose a major threat to the rest of the team or actively help the team from a distance; the Sydney Sleeper does both of these very well by coating the target in jarate, leaving them vulnerable for eight seconds to mini crits from the whole team. This is incredibly effective for taking out targets like overhealed Heavies and soldiers; because of their slow movement speed they would not be able to get away in time to not get maimed by the team while contesting an objective. The jarate can also hit multiple targets, allowing for soldiers and demos to sometimes obliterate most of a team in something like payload or king of the hill. The faster charge time also means that it can be much more effective at medium range than something like the jarate; but hey, that’s just my take on it.
Also first place choice is fucking stupid. Not everyone can afford a fancy skin for every gun in the game.

About the default weapons: When you're new, you have no chances to really get a reskin or a better quality without paying keys to open crates and get some festive weapons or strangeifier or paying them directly.
You can get a machina or a quick-fix by the drop system, you can get a gunsliger or a bonk atomic punch with achievements, BUT YOU CAN'T get a lugermorph, a festive chargin' targe or a botkiller rocket launcher without paying for them or trading them or, sometime, buying other games.
Moreover, qualities only means a special name color and, sometimes, an added effect for a lot of peoples. Everyone hates getting killed by a new hatless player, but that's the game. The weapons and the hats doesn't make the mann, only the skills do.

It’s strange to say, I actually find the piss rifle to be incredibly useful as a support sniper which sniper should be played as more often since you can get a shit-ton of assists, and you’re likely going to get more help from your teammates for doing them a solid

Stock = class starting weapons that you don't need to unlock. Default = any weapon that doesn't have any cosmetic change applied to it.

Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. But really, when someone's this petty I kinda lose respect towards theirs.

Also you're obviously an extremely selfish tf2 player, since you give no credit to weapons that give an advantage to your team over an advantage for you (ie. sydney sleeper).
And deeming a weapon bad for how people use it is ridiculous. The Phlog can be used extremely well without the need to w+m1.
I actually agree with your opinion but disagree as to the reasons. I actually understood his opinion on the Phlog, as he said, it Promotes those behaviors, it isn't only useable in those situations but it's design promotes such tendencies. He is selfish don't get me wrong, number 1 shows that, sense he has such a big issue with default weapons, and i'm sorry, but there is no difference between default, and stock, they mean basically the same thing. However he b asically says he hates reskins (without stating it) and if you like the stock weapons, or use them in anyway, you should shell out the means to be able to get strange, killstreak, or at the very least a nametag, despite the fact that some people either can't or do not want to do such a thing.
In essence number 1 is basically "I hate reskins, cheapfuckers, and new players" Because these are the kind of peopel who have 'default' weapons and use them without getting any level of personalization, or are just the same thing.
I will say the Sydney is a good weapon for training snipers, sense it actually isn't that useful even to a team, a good charge body shot will still kill regaurdless, so it's not like all that piss does much, and like he said, it doesn't put out allies or slow enemies down. This does make it a good pratice weapon cause you can focus on learning to hit targets and people won't get on your case about body shots with a weapon that can't do headshots.
