Signet library is a stunning place worked there a few times and still work for the same company Head Chef Aung is a fantastic guy and an even better Chef and the manager Franz is also a lovely man

Oh yes!! I thought you might be off to the colonnades. I’ve been singing their praise since I went last October. Totally worth it even for those of us on a budget … I still haven’t had a better tea anywhere in the country.

We had afternoon tea at the Dome a few weeks ago - it was fabulous!!! We absolutely loved everything and the whole experience was just so fun! My husband wanted to do it again! I’d like to try afternoon tea at the Balmoral next time, although I would definitely go back to the Dome again. The library you visited for tea looks so gorgeous too! Thanks for the video!

Although I like modern tastes, I would prefer a traditional afternoon tea, just crustless sandwiches, scones and traditional cakes. Wasabi and hoisin duck wraps just don’t work for me in that setting. Not sure why really. I once got a dairy free afternoon tea in the Sheraton and it was so disappointing. But afternoon tea should be real cream and cheese and butter, etc.

Hello I was just in Edinburgh for the first time ever I loved it, if I may say it’s a bucket list city . Thank you Kati your videos helped me out very much. Just one thing that seemed strange for me was the hours the businesses keep, be sure to check before you go anywhere what their closing time is it could vary from 2 pm or 5 pm or 7 or 9 pm etc.
Absolutely, the opening times are a bit of a mess. Including how some places open just Thursday -Sunday or similarly hard to predict times!

The tone of your voice alone would make me choose the expensive afternoon tea. Can’t wait to visit Edinburg again and experience afternoon tea for the first time and will definitely consider Signet Library.
The place has a really nice quiet vibe, admittedly we booked for relatively early in the day (11 I believe) and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves! Felt super exclusive that way!
I had afternoon tea in The Dome during Christmas time. It was so good!! And the decor 😍🎄
We tried the breakfast one they had on during that time! Was yours the usual "non-breakfasty" one? It really is stunning in there isn't it.

I had Afternoon Tea at the Holyrood palace Café with my mom. Everything was really deliciuos and with 21£ (without Champagne) or 30 £ (with ch.) it is a reasonable price. you'll sit away from the Café guests, get a quick introduction and tea explanation. It is always nice idea - especially on rainy days. But I must say: the Signet Library is gorgeous! (And a lovely place for a wedding...)
That sounds lovely! I always like the little garden seating they have there, although I guess the sunny days on which that sort of seating is afternoon tea friendly are limited 😬 glad to hear you enjoyed your time there!

You must try the Dome on george street. Fabulous food and the service is exeptional

for me the best afternoon tea is at Prestonfield Hotel. Everything has a very unique flavour but still feels as a traditional afternoon tea. highly recommended!

There are thankfully many at around 25-30 mark that are very nice as well! I did notice the prices jumping up for many establishments in the last months though 😭

Clarinda's Tearoom is a wonderful place for Afternoon Tea. It's at the bottom of the Royal Mile, very cozy and the tea and food are amazing.

Modern day Princes Street, boarded up or empty shops. Sad. The Signet library afternoon tea is probably the pinnacle of Edinburgh eating. Such class, such variety. Wish they would leave a wee card as I never remember what everything is. Tempted to try the Caley or Balmoral but their menus look more limited.

The cheapie tea sounds like a great place for people to meet for a "gab and chew" - not especially special but a bit more refined than grabbing a burger, nice enough for the lower cost, perfectly acceptable. (Also - AND THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION - I should note that I found the video's music too horrid and annoying to sit through so I ended up having to fast-forward through a lot. It sounded like it was recorded onto warped vhs tapes and was recorded from there onto warped cds - not a good sound. Again this is ONLY my opinion so ignore at will.)

I loooooooove Edinburgh and I looooooove aternoon tea. When I visit again from Montréal in november I will have afternoon tea at The Balmoral's Palm court.

Strange question... but is there anywhere in the city which you can chill in when its raining? As in something like a work space or a lobby which you can sit in?
I think the free museums might be good for that - national museum especially is large and has a plenty of seating options. Galleries, too - all of them are usually free to enter and nobody would have a problem with you just popping in to chill! For a longer sit down I like to visit hotel lobbies, there's an app called Swurf which collates local hotels that are totally ok with you coming in for a coffee and a couple of hours of work!
The central library on George IV bridge used to be good but it's been a while and I have a bad feeling it's been turned into a hotel. If not, I'd recommend it.
What kind of drinks did you have with your expencive afternoon tea? Champagne? Free choises of drinks? Also, is it pr person?
Truthfully, the desserts were better for the cheap tea. I love chocolate.
But, of course, the rest of the teatime at the more expensive Cafe was better!

Is there any tea cheaper than £15?
There used to be, but these days it's hard to find - prices went up a lot in the last two years and it will likely only continue.
I'd recommend looking at sites like Itison and look for a voucher!
Nothing says high end like abandoned boarded up commercial space in the bottom of the building 😳

It's fantastic that you make these kind of videos, but O-M-G... 60 quid is too much for "a tea". I can have dinner in a Michelin starred restaurant in my area with (more or less) that. Or four set menus! Can you imagine how many 'pintxos' can I eat and how many 'txakolis' or beers can I have with that money???
I feel you - coming from a land of the 80p pint I also shed a tear over just how expensive Edinburgh is these days 🥲
