After my husband passed I watched your videos. They brought me calmness and the sweetness that is you. I watched them constantly, and you, without knowing me or my precious Denny, helped me so much. So it’s not always about a tea or furnishings, it’s also about letting people into your world. You became my friend that I could rely on in those really difficult moments. Those moments still happen, but I know where to go for gentleness and softness. This will be the first Valentines Day without my husband. You remind me here that I can maybe create a little tea party for myself and hope that Denny will be there in spirit. Thank you.
OMG. I am so sorry. I am sure he is with you every day!
I'm so sorry for your loss, Kathy. My husband passed away almost 5 years ago this coming May. The one thing I've learned since then when it comes to holidays is to make your own holiday traditions. Every Valentine's Day, when he was alive and we didn't go out to dinner, I always made surf and turf for him. I've since been doing the same thing since he passed away until this year. I'm changing my menu to what I like and want. He will always be in your heart, and there will be things you and he did together that you will continue doing, but sprinkle in a new thing here and there that's for you. I will tell you, you won't ever stop missing him but you will be happy again and enjoy your life. I wish you all the best and Happy Valentine's Day💐💐
Happy Valentines Day to you, Kathy. May it be filled with the love of joyful memories.
Happy Valentines Day, Kathy. Yes, this is my calm spot too. Hugs.
I encourage you to offer you a present and have a good time somewhere nice or at home.
Much love and greetings from South of France☀️☀️☀️ all the Very best for you🌻
I love how Sophie takes Nicolas to the nicest places.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
☠️☠️
I arrived in London in 1974 fresh from our council house in a Scottish village simple poor and hard working, no holidays, few new clothes. I began studying fashion at St Martins and met my best friend there who is of aristocratic background and at one point I lived with her and her parents in an enormous flat full of antiques overlooking the Westminster Cathedral. They gave dinner and cocktail parties regularly and as part of their 'family' I was invited to more at other gorgeous homes in London. As I knew no-one each time I decided that instead of asking people what they did, I asked them what they would have liked to do if they could start over. The replies were incredible and often in stark contrast to their actual profressions. I moved to Paris in 1978 and the difference in society was surprising to say the least.
Wow, how were parisians different?
It sounds like you have had a great adventure. Are you still in Paris I wondered?
Sounds fascinating indeed . Very intrigued Please describe the societal change you witnessed .
Thank you for sharing, I N wondering too what changes you observed.
Stephanie, could you tell us how it was different (having never been to Paris) than London society?
What a beautiful, colorful, elegant room…I love that Sophie is always with you and that is very endearing to me…Loved this style of Q&A….So very relaxing…
It amazes me that Sofie is with you in so many public places. Here in America, our pets cant go everywhere with us. But i enjoy that she is with you so much! Really enjoyed this video, the music and the lovely surroundings.
Pets can go almost everywhere now in the USA, I have taken mine to the grocery store and shopping in other stores I always keep him in the basket on a blanket.
It's Sophie who takes Nicolas to all these nice places. 😄
@@inproper3952 they aren’t supposed to be in the grocery store but stores are afraid of asking why the dog is there because it could be an assistance dog.
No better way to spend an afternoon than taking in one of your soothing vlogs. So enjoy a cozy afternoon tea with you and Sophie. Thank you.
Nicolas, thank you for this interesting and relaxing video. You never disappoint. I loved your music, location, and conversation topics. You are so open and genuine in discussing your personal likes, best, worst, dislikes, etc. You always give a message that is inspiring. "Take an interest in the lives of others and in the world." As an American, I always enjoyed the English Afternoon Teas during my visits in Manchester and Weston-Super-Mare staying with my cousins. You brought back fond memories for me. Your gift of engaging with your audience keeps us coming back each week for more. God bless you for being you.
Robert.
We are an english speaking country but i really enjoy listening to you speak english and picking a little tips here and there to spice up my simple life
Love your content
Love your ways
Love the time you put in to bring the best out of every topic
Bless you

Sophie looks very happy and at home there ,I think she thinks you’re moving in
I love that Sophie's on the sofa. Sweet.
I love that Sophie gets to enjoy your excursions! She's so well behaved when you're eating. My dog would be driving me nuts! Lovely video! Happy Valentines Day!💕
You’re elegant and refined videos are a blessing to me as it’s challenging to find others who enjoy this particular lifestyle. I pretend that I’m your friend and join you on your magnificent journeys into beauty. You’re voice and mannerisms are soothing. I look forward to your videos. Thank you so much.
Words cannot explain the excitement that came over me when I got this notification! 💖💕 I love being taken to these beautiful places with you, especially with tea! ☺️☕️🫖 Thank you Nicolas! & Happy Valentines Day in advance. 🌷
I am always impressed with the elegant and natural nonchalance you answer all the questions and comment on your videos, which I enjoy watching from the start and can observe how you develop into a great personality over time.
What a room. Can see myself spending a lot of time in a room like that. Perfect.
We are all coming over to have that perfect weekend with you!
Please give Sophie a dog cookie! She is such a good girl. This is a beautiful episode and raised the bar for the future. Kindest regards.
No cookies. Dog biscuits
Thank you for sharing this delightful setting with us! I loved the convo starters, and I love the ease with which you share your thoughts with us. Your choice of music is always so soothing and I can almost feel my blood pressure drop by half because of the peace that it brings to my soul. I love that you take the time to share these magnificent places with us, becuase for most of us, it will be the closest we ever come to places so grand! Blessings!
Your channel is so absolutely refreshing and delightful ...thank you Nicolas!
What a beautiful and romantic room you are sitting in Sophie seems to love it as well. Thank you for these tips. Happy Valentines Day! ❤😊
Obsessions? I confess I’m a little bit obsessed with Nicolas saying “sweet treat”. I don’t know why but it always makes me smile. Unfortunately, we didn’t get one in this video, but… there’s always next time ☺️😁
Thoroughly enjoyed this video and love Sophie and how you include her.
This video brought back some lovely memories. I have had afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason, the Waldorf Astoria in New York and the Four Seasons in Las Vegas. All were lovely but like you Fortnum & Mason was my favourite because it was my first and it followed a visit to Buckingham Palace earlier in the day. It was also my first visit to England so the whole trip was super special packed full of visits to historical sites and seeing people I had only known via the internet before then. When I was a child/teen I lived in Stratford, Ontario, Canada and had the good fortune to meet a number of people who were famous in the day, most notable of whom was Marcel Marceau (French Actor & Mime) but there were also some singers and actors who were definitely famous on this side of the pond but may not have been as well known over there, such as Robert Goulet, Peter Donat and Michael Learned. Thanks for sharing, now I am off to make myself a cup of tea.
I live not far from Stratford ON myself 😃 Was Marcel Marceau there at the Festival on stage or as an audience member?
@@sheilaenglish9738 He was performing. I was asked to babysit his children and I recall going with him and his kids to swim at a nearby quarry.
Oh, I love going to tea. Its such a relaxing self indulgence we don't always do for ourselves. The room is divine!!!!! The tapestry couch, the red wall, printed pleated lamp shades, and the mix of patterns with the paisley and plaid on the pillows is swoon worthy!!!! Take me away! The only thing is here in the USA, we always have lemon curd ,jam and cream. My favorite is the lemon curd.
Loved this Q & A video and the surroundings just added to the beauty of it. Glad to see Sophie partaking as well. My copy of “The Secrets of Pistoulet” arrives today.
My best afternoon tea was also in Paris Ritz. It was about 40 years ago!! First time in Paris. On a weekend gateway from London with my first husband. It was a snowing afternoon, a few days before Christmas and we were madly in love. What a glorious time I had then! What a beautiful memory ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Just LOVE your videos. Show us how to strive for more elegance in our lives. What beautiful places you get to see! Love how you called Princess Katherine a SWAN! 🥰😍 Exactly what she is! !!
I enjoy your vlogs so much, but this one is my favorite so far! The chat prompts, your answers, the beautiful setting and delicious looking tea accoutrements are par excellence!! ❤
As always a visit tea and good conversation with Nicholas is just lovely. Thank you💐
I would LOVE to visit Capri in the 1950's 1960's when it was still pure and simple.
@@dev5963 In my mind at least !
Sophie loves 💕you so much, Nicolas. She stays so close and snuggled up to you. I thoroughly enjoyed this tea and conversation meeting.
This is such a lovely place. I love everything about the room where you are having tea. 🥰🐕🇺🇸
I thought I had watched a small movie, so gorgeous & relaxing , thank you Nicolas 🙏🏻🇬🇧💙xxx
Tea at The Ritz in both Paris & Naples, FL!! Always perfection!! Back in 80' my late husband & I would go to Chicago for extended weekends 2-3x each year. Upon our check-in at the downtown Westin Hotel we would promptly go to their elegant afternoon tea! Always memorable!
BTW, your setting for tea, with Sophie, is stunning...I understand why you love that setting/property❤!
Ladurée in Paris is a charming, chic, old Tea House. With exquisite pastries too.
That was fun! Sophie really knows how to pick the best places! 😉
I agree with you that Kate, the Princess of Wales, is a good role model, a kind person who lives her title with dignity and respect.
She doesn't get involved with negativity of the media.
Great questions Nicolas! Your perfect weekend sounds wonderful and the afternoon tea venue is gorgeous. Thanks and Happy Valentine’s Day🙏❤️
I too am so impressed with the delightful Catherine, Princess of Wales! 💕 We part ways on scones though, I have to have both jam AND cream! 😅
The Dorchester in London with my friend celebrating 60 years friendship! I live in S. Africa and she lives in London.❤
I'll be in Edinburgh and Inverness for 10 days with my long time best friend and ex-sister-in-law for her Birthday. In a few days, actually! 47 years of friendship, travels, secrets, laughs and more laughs! And memories galore! She still lives in California and I live in France.
@@alcg3981 That’s just wonderful! We are lucky….😁🥰
I just love your videos, your demeanor is so calm and warm. I can tell you are just an amazing person. Thank you so much for making these beautiful, well produced videos. I think I speak for us all when I say we are so thankful for you.
Really enjoyed this and what a gorgeous setting to film in , to be honest you are my latest obsession because I’m new to your channel so literally binge watching all your videos , I’m also completely obsessed with William and kate , such a well suited genuine couple ❤
I agree! I absolutely adore the Princess of Wales, Catherine!
I kept thinking as you were filming how you should be living in a house with rooms like the one in which you were seated. You produced another engaging and informative video. And Sophie adds a very relaxing dimension.
I went to a 'long table' dinner last week- so a large table of strangers. The acoustics were dreadful so everyone ended up shouting in each other's face. I was seated between a nurse and a covid conspiracy theorist, so of course came down with covid afterwards. I shall stick to more intimate affairs :)
Fashion- I'm heading to an 'alternative' fashion show in a couple weeks. Am really looking forward to the energy of creative enthusiastic young people!
Love seeing Sophie!
It was probably the nurse who is constantly with sick people...
Sounds like a nightmare and then you got sick! You’re right to want to keep your social situations more intimate.
I share your admiration for the Princess of Wales. William made a very good choice didn’t he.
Very much enjoyed the setting of this video. It is not a look I would want to live with but what a warm, luxurious place to sink into for an afternoon of chat and tea. ☺️
If I'm being totally honest, I have to admit that you are my 'celebrity crush'. I'm sure I'm not alone either. Loved the video. Thank you, as always for posting such an interesting and beautiful video. Happy Valentines Day!
Divine video Nicholas ❤. Nice to see Sofie looking so relaxed. My favorite sandwich for afternoon tea, is ham and butter ( the Ritz Paris ) I’m not sure what else the chef did..but was amazing. My Monday is complete now ! 💕
The Princess of Wales is everything and more and I just love your expression, What ever is needed " She takes off like a swan"... 💙 ,
I agree - I love Princess Kate! She is so gracious and beautiful. Excellent role model for so many 😊
So much bad news and anxiety causing going’s on. Your channel is a respite and I so look forward every week to seeing you. 😁💖
Wow, what a beautiful place. Thank you for inviting us in on your afternoon tea and lunch. I see the both of you had a fab time.
You always visit the most beautiful places!! Beautiful video and great tips.
Thank you so much Nicolas for this agreeable moment passed with you in a dream decor … it was a pure pleasure 🥰✨💖
Gorgeous surroundings for tea. Great video and loved the questions. I actually met the Beckhams a few years ago at the restaurant Serendipity in NYC where I live. They were there with their children and an older couple possibly in-laws. We were about to be seated across from them at another table. I didn’t realize that my date knew David Beckham so I was briefly introduced before going to our table. They were lovely and friendly. And it was great that nobody bothered them in the restaurant either. People just smiled and left them alone.
This was a very nice video. I loved the beautiful place, the music, your interesting conversation and the afternoon tea. Blessings.
Yes, we all seem to have a crush on you!! You are the sweetest. And great taste too with Princess of Wales, spot on! Have a beautiful week xx
My best afternoon tea was at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, IL a few years ago. It was a treat for Mother's day from my daughter. We had a lovely afternoon and the hotel was beautiful, the food was wonderful, and the whole experience was a once in a lifetime experience.
Perfect Weekend At Home: I love early mornings as the sun seems so special at that time. So it is rise 7 am- sleeping in for me- off to the Point for a morning NE coastline walk with coffee which is under 10 mins from my home. If weather is cool or warmer- a swim in the Sound- then reading a fun book on the beach for an hour or two. Back home for a shower, breakfast on the terrace, then pick some hydrangeas from the garden and arrange in vases in the living, bedroom and bathroom for the coming week. Nothing nicer than fresh flowers throughout. Pop out for a leisurely lunch in town with a friend/partner or head out to the wine trail about 1.5 hours away and explore a new vineyard and a wine tasting and lunch. Then normally it would be something historic in the area, whether it be a historic seaport, museum, historic home or strolling through one of the many picturesque towns in the River Valley. Grab some dinner at a new or favorite restaurant and head home. Sunday- Sleep in till 8 am, and go for a Sunday sail w/friends if it is that time of the year or take a hike in the countryside with a picnic lunch with my utterly favorite hamper filled. If weather is colder or wet, then off to catch a long late Sunday brunch with bottomless Bloody Mary's or Mimosas. Normally I never get past 2. But the thought of brunch is offered with bottomless seems luxurious. If there is something special on, like an exhibit, or a movie at the Dolby Cinema to relax and recline, off to that. If not, its heading home either relaxing on the terrace for a fun read or snuggle into a good movie and just relax and breath with no pressure. Sunday evenings I like to make dinner special and table setting is with linens, china and crystal. Once dinner is in the oven, we sit and relax with a glass of wine and charcuterie tray, or some appetizers chatting. Then enjoy dinner of 3 courses. By then it is getting later, so it is a candle lit bubble bath for me, and a cup of Earl Grey and off to bed to start the week.
Hi good to see you again today
Thanks for sharing your favorite things
I really appreciate today
So beautiful everything ❤️
Tea time is my favorite time
Take care have wonderful weekend.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful place. You are wise beyond your years. I live in Texas and look forward to visiting Scotland one year. I have been to England, France, and Wales. David Beckham! What a treat! I have never met anyone famous but have seen a few from a distance. I saw Prince Charles at the British Museum. He was opening an exhibit but we were kept far away from him by security. Kate, like Diana, has won the hearts of the world. She is wonderful! Oh… and Sophie is beautiful!
Nicolas, I think you should do a longer overnight stay & dinner video at Prestonfield! Ciao
I really enjoyed your video today. The music was lovely. I also enjoyed the etiquette lessons on what to eat first and how to do it. I have never been to afternoon tea, but if I ever do I will know the first steps. I always enjoy when you take us to a lovely place. Thank you.
De verdad , eres una persona , con mucha clase , perfectos modales y gran educación , me encantas , un abrazo desde España 🥰
Always enjoy your posts. Just love listening to your calm, welcoming voice. And today's setting made all you had to say even more special. 💕
Nicolas as always so elegant and chic ❤ such an inspiration ❤
I love Sophie she's got the sweetest little face XXX Happy valentine's Day
Good Afternoon Nicolas, quite beautiful part of the world where you live; I very much enjoy this vlog I just wished these were lengthier as I love love love watching. Take care 🤗😘💙
Have to agree with your crush, and you thought on Kate the princess of Wales. She really is special. Loved todays feature, the backdrop, the conversation. Thanks xxx
What an intimate video! I really liked this 'talk' about the things that you were interested in. I felt like I was at an afternoon tea!
Nicholas I smiled after seeing your younger self. Not that it was funny, but that belt buckle. How well I remember! :)
If your ever going to be in the United States let's get together! Cheers for a great video!! Your friend John Robinson
Prior to watching your beautiful videos, I was forced to stop drinking coffee due to a health condition. I returned to good old Lipton tea bags for a while but out of shear boredom purchased a Twining sample box. I've recently settled upon Irish Breakfast and Lady Grey as my primary morning and afternoon teas. I like how smooth they are without overpowering my meals. Thanks for the inspiration to try new things!
I agree with you 💯% on being genuinely interested in the person you're talking to.
Some people just keep talking it's no longer a conversation
Thank you for the peace and beauty of your program.
I always look forward to my notification for this channel. You never disappoint Nicholas! Afternoon tea is one of my favourite things. Happy Valentines🌹
Loved the Q&A plus the afternoon tea Happy Valentine Day
Best video so far, it has very good light, conversation, atmosphere. We want more video like this one!!! I always like better the one where I see people eating😅.
Cute dog+beautiful place+ Nicholas
This is a great vlog idea. Talking about making conversation. Thx for covering the topic.
Nicolas love xx you look younger and chic. That hotel looks stupendous and fabulous. Love the view of the place the chairs plus the tea and pastry.. love the tips and advice how to start a conversation with someone. Especially you are so sweet and talented. Thank you for showing me about it Nicolas love xx ❤️❤️❤️ take care see you soon.
What fond memories, Nicholas, as my dear friend and I stayed at Prestonfield House! We loved the cows, theater, variety of rooms, etc.
I remember seeing a Vbloged with Nicolas and friend,in that hotel.
Looks you both had a very nice time.
💐
I live in Orange County, California otherwise known as “the OC”. I hate to burst your bubble but it is nothing like its portrayal in the TV show. They never showed the homeless encampments along the banks of the Santa Ana River, or the crime in the more impoverished areas. They do show all the glitz and glamour that exists in Newport Beach and its more expensive cities but even then it is over exaggerated and overly dramatized compared to what exists in real life.
I think all shows like that are pretty similar. The Housewives of wherever, Beverly hills, etc etc. They play to a certain age group and wouldn't be watched if they showed 'real life'. I'm from So Cal too but live in France and it's the same here. Peeps think of Champs Elysées and all the places that the well-off frequent but don't see the Roms and others in the Metro picking pockets, on the streets with their kids waiting for change, etc. Same with NY and sex and the city .. can't think offhand of others..
Loved the Q and A, beautiful room. Happy Valentine’s Day, Nicolas!❤❤❤

As usual a lovely vlog ,keep them coming xxx
Thoroughly enjoyed this- the setting and the content. You did such a good job with the questions and guiding us through the tea procedure at the same time. Very good suggestions for conversations not just at tea but in general. I plan to share with my daughter who feels awkward about interacting and conversing with people. Thank you
Love it very much, I m from Fortaleza northeast of BRASIL, in the vídeo everythinc is beautiful... Thanks.
Very much enjoyed this video! In the scene where you are pouring tea you belong to the beautiful surroundings ❣️
Greetings!
Beautiful Tea Time ambiance there. So nice to see your little Sophie enjoying herself. We are vacationing in Mexico this Valentine's, and my wife found the perfect little gifts for our feline fur baby at home. Maybe they will help her forgive us for leaving her for the week.
Happy Valentine's!

Thank You for this video.😊I sure miss Afternoon Tea back in the UK. Cheers.!
On my first visit to Edinburgh many years ago we went to have tea at Jenners ( no longer exists ) and my boyfriend who was French tried to understand what the ladies at the next table were saying so I have to translate. I told him that they were speaking 'Edinbourgeois' !
