Afternoon tea at the Wolseley, in London, was relatively affordable , great portions, beautiful classic tea set up in a gorgeous building with so much character. It wasn't too posh, nor too casual. It was a full house that day. As a tourist, it was everything I hoped for for about 40 dollars per person. When we finished all three tiers of food and pastries , they offered to refill us on food or tea free of charge! We declined of course, as we were full , but considering how generous the servings were already, this really surprised us. 10/10 recommend!
Thanks for the Fortnum & Mason recommendation. My girlfriend and I had tea there a few weeks ago. It was my first time visiting London; and it was the perfect first stop on our trip. It is a bit expensive, 70 dollars each. But the food, products and atmosphere there are just so refined. Thanks again!
I went to high tea at Fortnum & Mason back in 2003 on my first visit to London. It was a highlight of the trip for me. I drank coffee not tea, as I am not a tea drinker. Then I added a glass of champagne. The other highlight was seeing for the first time "Phantom of the Opera“ at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

My wife & I went to the tea at Fornum and Mason and for a traditional tea it was great! I wish we would have seen this before visiting London as I think all 3 would have been on our list. The Rosewood Hotel looked art fabulous and tea at Ting in the Shard would have been worth the 5 minute champagne wait just to take in that view. Thanks Jess, great video!
This was a very nice video Jess. I really liked all of the details of each place that you made sure to point out. You always show so many things to see and do. I'll have to spend a lot more time in London lol
Really helpful video, Jess! It’s going to be my 3rd time in London but first time that I am going to book afternoon tea so I think you have me leaning toward F & M even though I am a sucker for a great view! 😆
I know !! I just happened to Google that place for afternoon tea services 3 days ago !!! Lol As I wanna have my tea looking at the tower bridge when I 'll be in London with mom in the very near future !!! The view of it from the hotel restaurant is stunning 😍 But ,I am afraid we can't afford it !! As we're definitely going to have our tea at Fortnum and Mason !!! I love love that place !!! And they now ( started few years ago ) have vegetarian & vegan tea as well & I am a vegetarian & mom is a pescatarian !! We're also planning to do another at the Ritz !! I've read & heard vegan ones at the both ones are better than regular afternoon tea ,so I might go for vegan ones there !! I used to be a vegan for a real long time !! I can't wait !!! Lol. I am thinking about having a cream tea at the Ivy's instead !! It's only £8.50 ,of course it's way more pricey compared to regular cream tea services ...! But ,it's right by the tower bridge !!! 🫖🍵☕🧁🍰👍👍💜🥁🐉🎵🎤🎶💞

I just love afternoon tea in London. I went to Brown's Hotel in Mayfair. Definitely very pricey but it was lovely. It was so filling it was the only food we ate all day. My friend is gluten free and she was extremely impressed with their gluten free options, even saying the gf scones were as good as she remembered her grandmothers traditional scones to have been.
Well, you got me! I,m staying some days at London and after watching your video I, ve decided to pay a visit to Fortnum and Mason for having afternoon tea. I, ll let you know about my experience!
Loved this! Have had the afternoon tea at F&M and loved it. Every time my friend and I come to London, we set up at least one (sometimes two!) afternoon tea reservations. Not only is it a tasty treat but it’s just such eye candy, isn’t it? Great way to relax.
Shangri-La gets my vote. I saw a programme about the Corinthia London, first episode dealt a lot with them devising their new afternoon tea. Was interesting seeing the thought that went into it.
We visited the F&M in the British Exchange building and had tea and scotch egg. Best te ever and a right good egg too. But we had a classic afternoon tea at the beautiful Milestone Hotel in South Kensington. So gracious and kind to fix a mix up with our reservation. Best example of a high tea you could imagine!

Great video Jess . Really enjoyed it plus very informative as usual . Clearly not a cheap afternoon if I'm paying for two ! But as a treat , yes , worth it for the experience for sure . Was on my list last time in London but couldn't squeeze everything in . Missed out on Afternoon Tea ( have had it before ) . Had to settle for Afternoon Pint instead ! LOL . Next time .
Thanks a lot for the amazing video, I really enjoyed it, as well as all your videos but this one was very special and chic 😉. I liked all the three places but the Shard is really something 👍😉❤️

@@afcgeo882 Yes Jess has previously given us an excellent list of afternoon tea options at various prices including the Firmdale Hotel branches in London with prices typically £25-£35 per person or a little more with Champagne. I would go for the later like you George but its great to see what the more expensive options look like also, thoroughly enjoyed the video.
Honestly I love your london vlogs! I wish I can move to london one day. I often come down from up north always falling in love with London more and more
You have great tips and your videos are fun to watch. I will be traveling to London October 2023. Do you know if The Ting is still serving the cloud forest tea? I didn't see it in the menu.
I just discovered this channel and I just love the content already. The champagne challenge though is imo inadequate to mesure service. In F&M they brought the champagne flute already poured to the table while the Changri-la did it in a two stages fashion. One person settin up an empty champagne glass on the table then an other person ( probably a sommelier) coming next to introduce then pour the champagne. Looks lovely! However, when running around London doing “Touristy” things all day I won’t be wearing my “Sunday Best”. Are there places to have an afternoon tea where I won’t feel under dressed with everyday clothes?
All 3 are great of course. I think if you are a first time visitor it’s probably a good idea to go for the traditional as the genuine article. F&M are just that and other top of the range traditional offerings would be Claridges, the Goring and the Ritz among others. Forget Harrods 😆

Been to at least 20 afternoon teas in London over the years. Rosewood was the best service, inventiveness, flavour. We were blown away. Sketch was right up there with live music. The Four Seasons was the most disappointing, sadly. The Savoy afternoon tea is such a treat as is Browns .
I have been to many afternoon teas in my life !! Mostly here in S.California ( U.S. ) ,though !! Many at hotels . Some at a British tea place ( cream tea ) & a British pub( cream tea as well ,though ! ) & a cream tea in Cotswold & Portmeirion, Wales !!! It was so~good ( Wales )I might had a cake there, though, but the best tasting compared to English's scones ,or cake I had over there back then !!! I do believe that in London when you talk about ,or suggesting afternoon teas to people there ,you really can't omit Fortnum and Mason ones !!! For the tastes & the atmosphere over there !! As for the Four Seasons ...I believe you !! Although I had a fabulous afternoon tea at the hotel in Beverly Hills before ( decades ago !! WOW ! Time flies really !!! ) & lots of dinners & lunches there ,very sadly the quality/ tastes went down so~badly ,plunged here ,too !!! I was so ~ shocked !!! I believe it's due to the new ownership & management !! My favourite thing at the Four Season was their apple pie !! It comes in a baking ramekin ! And it came back smelling like sewage !!! 😱😖👎👎 We were stunned !!! I couldn't drink it !! We decided not to go back there ever !! We haven't ever since then !!! So ,I believe you saying it was dissapointing !! If you said that two decades ago ,then I would had doubted your taste bud ,but now it's very believable !! I felt the decline of the Four Season a bit earlier than that incident !! So ,I kinda predicted it ! It's such a shame !! As they were one of the best around !! Even when I was a vegan for 17 years & back then ,they always prepared & served the best tasting vegan dishes ( amongth hotels here ,the Beverly Wilshire ,Ritz Carlton ,Hyatt , etc. ) for me whenever I went there !! I am kind of scared to go back there after that tea pot incident !! 🫖🍵☕🍰🧁💜🥁🐉🎵🎤🎶💞
So far, this one is the video I’ve liked the most at your channel. Congratulations, as you’ve got to show your own touch. It’s been like a delicatessen invention from a famous chef. What about introducing a new range of videos like this?
I was not going to watch this but I did only because I enjoy Jess, for her look and personality ! Plus I hardly miss her videos. Glad I did and it was cool to see the cost but wonder what it was without the champagne? It was nice too as a vegetarian to see what can be had and I think the Shard would be best just for the views alone !!!! Great job Jess with the editing and overall video !!!! May 2022 is my trip to London after cancelling twice due to covid so i hope it happens this time.....
@@loveandlondon thanks so much for your reply ! Might just try an afternoon tea when I get to London in May - Thanks for your suggestions and advice !!
Are all three places about the same in price? Do you need a reservation? What is the best time to arrive for high tea and when is the best time/day to go for high tea when there are fewer people? Thanks for answering all my questions!
They're the same price-ish, all quite high end so don't expect cheap. Yes absolutely make a reservation in advance. Doesn't really matter which day or time you go, just make a reservation Thanks for watching!
Loved this! My first video seeing you! Great choices to sample these 3 afternoon teas. Would love to visit all three! I definitely liked the variety and contrast between each location. Thank you!
Thanks for watching Steve! We have just signed on to another Google Pixel Ambassadorship which means we will be able to make more amazing videos like this, and free for people like you to watch as many times as you'd like :)
They are quite high-end so I would recommend being a bit dressier although it's not required. Yes I would definitely make a reservation! Thanks so much for watching Svetlana, really appreciate it ♥️
Hoping to visit the UK and of course, London, next year from here in Oz. Loved your video of all hotels. Does the Ritz still do their Afternoon High Tea? What about the Savoy?
wow, this will be amazing experience, spent the very first few days in London and loving it! so much to do and so much to experience....thank you Jess for filling up our bucket list😂. Do you have a suggestion for experiencing the afternoon tea as a first-timer towards NW London? The photos from Google Pixel looked amazing...no less than any hifi DSLR!
So much to see indeed! All of my favourite afternoon teas are in this video, in articles on my site, and in my guides: shop.loveandlondon.com And if you need specific recommendations you can book a Trip Planning Call with me, also available in my shop :) Thanks so much for watching!
Do you have any thoughts on Claridges? We're heading there in August and I'd love to take my mother-in-law and daughter to a high tea that is amazing and traditional (we are going to Ting also, thanks to your video)!

Sorry for my novels !! 🙏
Nice! Thanks so much for watching!
Such a cool video. For me when I visit, I think Fortnum and Masons is for me.
Nice. Many tourists especially if its their first visit like to go super traditional. Thanks so much for watching!
For me, as a Londoner, it is tea at the Savoy, followed by the Ritz, then Fortnum & Mason.
Thanks for watching Fiona!
Thank you for walking us through these details! Going to London for a month and I definitely need to try one of these places for tea!
Oh you've got plenty of time to try them all then :) Thanks for watching Elizabeth.
Thank you for this!
You're very welcome!
Wow, the tea at the Shangri-La looks amazing! I'm curious, what kind of tea did they serve on the tray? Was there dry ice inside of it?
It was a welcome drink! If I remember it was a mango type of cold drink. Dry ice is under the tray. Thanks for watching!
Keep up making such videos.
Thanks for watching!
What about the Langham Hotel? it got the seal of approval by mum in 2019 (and oh boy can she be picky)
I've not done the tea there! Thanks for watching.
So far, this one is the video I’ve liked the most at your channel. Congratulations, as you’ve got to show your own touch. It’s been like a delicatessen invention from a famous chef. What about introducing a new range of videos like this?
So glad to hear you enjoyed this so much Elias! Yes we are actually planning on doing more comparison videos like this!
Thanks for watching! The prices without champagne varied but was about £10-£15 less.
Wow, did you go all 3 places in one day?!
A magician never reveals her tricks😂
I just got the Pixel 5a so I would have a new phone for my trip to England next month! I cannot wait to explore several afternoon teas while in London
Ah no way! You'll get some amazing photos then! Thanks so much for watching.
Just love these vids 🍰 🧁 ☕️ 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Glad to hear it Robert, thanks for watching
Loved this! My first video seeing you! Great choices to sample these 3 afternoon teas. Would love to visit all three! I definitely liked the variety and contrast between each location. Thank you!
You're very welcome James, thanks for the kind comment!
Great video! I'm going back to London in February so this was very helpful. I will have to check out what the theme is at the Shangri-la in February.
Great! Thanks so much for watching !
Thanks for amazing review. Beautiful white dress. Glad to learn they do vegetarian options.
Thanks for watching Moira!
Very interesting video. Have you tried famous high end hotels ie The Ritz for afternoon tea? Like your white lace blouse, very classy!
Both The Rosewood and the Shangri-La are quite end hotels in London, and yes I've tried quite a few other teas around the city. Thanks for watching
My wife just purchased a very nice tea pot from Fortnum & Mason a few hours ago!
Nice!
Just a quick question if I may , what phone did you use during this video, which was pretty lovely by the way ? 🤣
Thanks for watching Steve! We have just signed on to another Google Pixel Ambassadorship which means we will be able to make more amazing videos like this, and free for people like you to watch as many times as you'd like :)
The dry ice is so cool
It is! Thanks for watching
Thank you for the great video! What is the dress code for all three places and do they require reservations?
They are quite high-end so I would recommend being a bit dressier although it's not required. Yes I would definitely make a reservation! Thanks so much for watching Svetlana, really appreciate it ♥️
try the Berkeley hotel tea, near Harvey Nichols, great for fashionistas as the cakes are based on the latest catwalk designs, Etc.
Hoping to visit the UK and of course, London, next year from here in Oz. Loved your video of all hotels. Does the Ritz still do their Afternoon High Tea? What about the Savoy?
Yup both do, you will see info on their sites. I prefer the teas in this video vs the ones you mentioned, personally, as well as Claridge's.
Hi! Any cheaper, but still good afternoon teas?
85 pounds is too much for me.
We have lots more afternoon tea reccs in our Itineraries in our shop! ❤️ Shop.loveandlondon.com
Thanks for the video … what would you recommend for a sole traveler ?
Any of those will work for solo travellers!
Going to be first time London end Sept first week Oct want to experience the best afternoon tea where would you recommend. Thanks
do they have eggless desserts and stuffs?
If you opt for the vegan version then yes!
@@loveandlondon ok ty
Amazing content, looking forward to checking these out. Were the prices for 2 ?
Thanks so much! Nope prices were per person. Thanks for watching.
A brilliant video as always! Really interesting and great choice of places 👌🏻 and the Pixel is looking appealing too!
So glad you liked it, thanks so much for taking the time to watch!
is there a required attire for Ting?
Check their site but people are generally dressed up a bit as it's a luxury experience.
I've never had an Afternoon tea before in my entire life! Please I wanna and love to experience it! 😭😭😭😭😭
Go for it! Thanks for watching ♥️
I think the Rosewood is just pure style and elegance, absolutely amazing. Of course this is very subjective 😊
It's absolutely beautiful. Thanks for watching!
wow, this will be amazing experience, spent the very first few days in London and loving it! so much to do and so much to experience....thank you Jess for filling up our bucket list😂.
I am definitely going to shangri-la ... but where did you get that gorgeous dress??
Enjoy, and let them know I sent you! It's a secondhand gem
Hi! Did you have to order the Asian theme in order to have the dry ice feature/ surprise?
Hiya, there's no choice on the theme, it's the only thing they offer so you'll def get it (although note that the theme has since changed)
Ever been to Sketch? Delicious tea and a really unique vibe! Definitely something different!
Thanks so much for watching Jenna!
Do you have any thoughts on Claridges? We're heading there in August and I'd love to take my mother-in-law and daughter to a high tea that is amazing and traditional (we are going to Ting also, thanks to your video)!
Claridges is nice! We have it in our London Itineraries : shop.loveandlondon.com
thanks, it was beautiful!
Thanks so much for watching Anna!
Thanks Jess, I never would have picked these 3. Normally used to other classic hotels. Roll on when borders open in Australia.
Woohoo! Thanks so much for watching.
Great pictures. Did the phone pick up your voice that easily, or were you wearing a mic? Yummy! Hope to visit soon.
Do you mean at the beginning when I said Hey Google? No mic, just picked it up as normal! Thanks so much for watching Laurie.
@@loveandlondon Hi! I just meant for the whole video. The phone must have a great mic!
