I Went on the Scotland Whisky Trail, Here's What I Learned

When I moved to the UK, some of my Scottish relatives recommended I try Scotch Whisky. I wasn't really sure if I would like it. However, when you're visiting Scotland you have to visit one of 130 distilleries.
As I didn't know much about Whisky, my first obstacle to overcome was learning how it's made and how to taste it properly.
Travelling to the Scottish Highlands and Islands I learnt so much about whisky tasting and what I like. I had to try all the regions to get a real feel. Scotland is split into five whisky-producing regions; Campbeltown, Highland, Islay, Lowland and Speyside. If you count the islands as their own region that makes 6.
I bought a whisky tasting set from Drinks by the Dram trying to find a Whisky that would live up to my expectations.

Funny to know. "Best Lowland" when there where only 13 lowland distilleries in 2014. There's 17 now, and more to follow. Whisky is booming business.
