The only issue I've had with trout magnets is that the fish stop hitting on them once it gets dark because they can't see them. Luckily the people at trout magnet were one step ahead of me and have started making glow in the dark trout magnets to make trout fishing at night suuuuper simple.
I took these to my local reservoir and caught 14 trout within 45 minutes. It was AMAZING. I highly recommend. So if you find yourself wondering "do fish bite at night" or "can you fish at night" you definitely can. Of course check your local laws and regulations but for me they worked amazing. I had to charge the glow in the dark trout magnets about every other cast or every third cast but other than that it was awesome.
