I wanted to drop a note to thank you for bringing these lures to my attention. My youngest’s interest in fishing was quickly waning because she hadn’t caught anything in weeks/months. After picking up a Trout Magnet Neon Kit at Walmart, she proceeded to have one of her best days yet. Thanks again and Happy Father’s Day!
Great video Victor . Thought i would share my limited experience with Trout Magnet colours that have worked for mr here in the UK . Fishing for European Perch and Pike in my local canal . Plain pink , plain chartreuse and plain gold have been the most successful colours for me . Fished with either 1-2 gram Jig head or 1-3 gram tungsten cheburashka weight . For roach , motor oil seems to be the best . This is what i found works best in the summer . The canal i fish is 3-8 feet deep . Crappie magnets i am yet to catch with . The problem for us here in the UK is we can only get trout magnets from Amazon . To give you an idea , 50 body packs of Trout Magnets cost $13.00 for white colour (cheapest one ) and $20.00 for pink colour . We only have 5 colours to pick from and the average pack for 50 bodies is around $15.00 . If we want to try other colours we have to buy the Trout Magnet 152-Piece Kit for $33.00 or the Trout Magnet Neon Kit - 70 Grub Bodies and 15 hooks for $35.00 . We can also get Trout Magnet Panfish Magnet Kit - 70 Split Tail Grub Bodies, 15 hooks for $22.00 . They are so expensive here . We even have one guy selling them on ebay UK for $8.00 each . Thats for 1 Trout Magnet body and 1 hook , not packet . I doubt anyone has bought from him though . Trout Magnets was bought to my attention after seeing Randy , Trout Magnet man fish with them .
I love using the trout magnets when I'm fishing for trout, seriously I do. My two main colors I enjoy using more than anything would be electric chicken and the green with the red flakes. Not that long ago I bought a few new packs. One color is glow and then the other one is called rainbow clear glitter,I think it's called and then you got the gold and black. I can't wait until I get out there and use them. Big Time bad weather here in Pennsylvania. Anyway I enjoyed the video and you have some amazing colors here. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Victor I was very impressed that you caught that Nice Stripe Bass with that Gold & Black Trout Magnet at Shabby. I ordered me a pack and will use it as well. Very help full video. 🙂👍🏽
oh, thats u? I think we met once before, on that point... Sorry but, i cant see faces from that distance but i remember ur name. Do u know randy, thetroutmagnetman? He is one of the biggest troutmagnet anglers out there, if not the biggest. I thought his color was saw bug, but he just told me that actually my favorite color is his favorite color too. I knew it - that's the best color, now i am confident about it : )
I don’t know Randy personally May have seen him if he fishes Shabby. I have been going there for over 15 years and came across many anglers. After you left the point were you caught the striper we caught close to 40 stripers between the dam and the Kazeboo that day and many Crappies. Always a pleasure to see you out at the lake. FishOn my friend.😎
I've never tried these before. So many different kinds of plastics out there. For years growing up it was alway the ole Mr. Twister grubs. These days I'm trying different stuff like the tubes and marabou jigs. I did actually just pick up a bottle of that Crappie attractant by Berkley you showed here the other day. I was looking for the Slab Sauce Richard Geene talks about but the Berkley is what I found. It's a gel and not a spray.
thank u mr. Thomas! Yeah, i don't use most of the colors in the box , but i like to see them there because they look pretty, and i like knowing that i have options if something weird happens..
Damn that trout magnet box is nice ... I’m gonna try that with half trout magnets and half crappie magnets. That grey and white one is what I caught my big bass on. Good video as always!
Good video. My experience when I began with trout magnets for people who do not buy the big packs of trout magnets and want to experiment. Go to Walmart or dicks, and you can find the trout magnets packs which includes hooks and a small amount of trout magnets. Buy different colors for 1.50 each including the hooks. You can then experiment with colors for the waters near you. You will then have a large collection of hooks leftover, and then buy big packs of your choice color. My experience fishing ponds and lakes, rivers and streams near me in the NE: meal worm color for trout and panfish which is the solid tan color. In clear water and sunlight, I recommend the gold trout magnets hook as it will shimmer and sparkle as it falls in the water. Light pink also works for me in super clear water. In little darker waters in NE, I use pink and red hooks. I had bad experience with the red hooks as the paint was rubbing off on my hands. As recommend by victor, I sometimes use Jdm Japanese hooks with these guys now. And I always, always, always sharpen the original trout magnets hooks with a hook sharpening till it easily penetrates my skin and resharpen after a few dozen fish or snagging. In my area, fish are pressured and they will not attack a lure, but rather barely touch it and a sharpened hook is the difference between a tap or catching a fish. Fantastic video, love seeing all the colors laid out vs product photos.
When water is dark or very stained black and blue works fantastic. It stands out and gives a profile to the fish. Bright colors oddly are not good in dark water, at least for me. Not that you won't catch it just won't be as many. I wonder what the fish actually see compared to what we think they see?
algae bloom is in full force here. I don't think they can see much color. It all looks dark gray and light gray probably... And yes, that's why i always keep black and blue, and some whites. Just to cover my bases
Best colors for trout is black, bison, black/green,pink. If theres a hatch going, bison and black/green will generically match whatever is hatching. For when theres no hatch going on i use bubblegum pink, and all black.
Hey Vic im trying to get into the trout magnets dressed with a 32nd oz roadrunners for the crappie. Doesn't look like much but being a perfect horizontal bait I'd think it should dominate 🎣. Thanks for your hard work man breaking things down in detail👌🏾
@@panfishin-fool8057 I dont think anyone with livescope is using road runners. U can see them follow it and turn around. Some are brave enough to eat it but u will get more fish without the stupid metal handing from the jig. Additionally, even when they try to eat it, if they come from below, the blade gets in the way, so u feel a bite but can't catch them.
@@ifishcatfish Makes all the sense. Livescope is proving that most of this stuff is just a myth when profile and presentation is everything. Mr Gene just makes everything look so damn fun lol

Liked and subscribed. I am new and no trout yet. The green with red flakes has been good for me on the gold jig head. I've caught bass, crappie, and bluegill in pond fishing on a single outing.

I think those would work for perch fishing i can't remember if you used them last fall in lake Michigan they definitely look good🐟🎣
they can be hard to see 30 feet down.. Also the jig head looks too big comparative to this tiny body. I tried but did not have success.

No need for road runners man. They deter fish, not attract. The less extra stupid metal u have on the jig the better. They chase it snd watch it
