I don't think many realize just how great a jam this is...and Sammy is damn good guitarist in his own right !! this is what halen should have morphed into !!!!
TOTALLY AGREE! I hated what the popish "Van Hagar" became. Sammy's great on his own and even better with Chickenfoot!

In 1974 on the BBC I actually saw Sammy and Montrose play Bad Motor Scooter on a TV program called "The Old Grey Whistle Test". Decades later after Sammy joined Van Halen I was surprised to discover it was the same vocalist from Montrose.
Young people wake up..this is Rock and roll..!! Chad Smith worked his ass off..damn..!! Sammy has been around (montrose) for years before Van Halen...very cool stuff..!!!!!

As a drummer i know how hard Chad is working there,, while Joe and Sammy extend the song time and time again with there fingers,, Chad is going 100 mph constantly . It takes incredible drum fitness to play like that and keep it up,,. Whoop then after that strait into the next song OMG .

In 1980 I saw Sammy warm up for Boston at Indiana State. He sat down at the front of the stage with the lap steel and shredded this! Warmed up indeed! An inferno is more like it.
Good ole Joe. Even wearing his dressing gown, he'll let Sammy play as much as he wants to, but then reminds the world that he's still the best guitarist on the stage. And I kind of get the feeling that Chad really loves playing with this band than he does RHCP.

Sammy is by far one of the most under rated guitarist and front men in all rock n roll. Last time i saw him was 1984 i think was the year, red rocker was the tour. He opened fir ZZTop and he absilutley blew those guys off the stage. Now 40 years later i wait in great anticipation to see him again in july 2024. I frickin can not wait. I was very amazed by this video, really next best thing to Van Halen. I have truly become a fan of Chickenfoot. Very happy for Mike, this guy is one of the nicest Rocker anyone could meet very well grounded. Mickey you will forever be the missing ingredient in Van Halen.

Montrose was being called America’s answer to Led Zeppelin in 1974. Sammy was a part of that sound and was just a badass singer from day one. Not knocking Dave because he is legendary as a front man. The two were never the same though. Diamond Dave brought the flash and matured as a singer too until he couldn’t anymore. Lol but he had a lot more maturing to do in every way from the start than Sam. Sammy was the singer and always more a part of the band. Dave was never going to sing in Sam’s register, and honestly, until he upped the showmanship game held VH back. VH was all about Eddy. Ronnie Montrose was a badass guitar player but like this, his band was always more about the band than any individual members.

It sounds so simple but this is what playing a a couple thousand shows each does. Makes you good. It's such a pity new bands don't have the ability to just go and play a circuit of clubs, bars and venues and gain that awesome-sauce seasoning that gives you the ability to smoke it live before they ever release an album. What's even sadder is that it will likely never get back there either.

Loved the Foot even though they had a short lifespan. This is what rock is supposed to be like, 4 great musicians having fun and playing some great music. Wish their schedules could sync up and give us some more Chickenfoot. But the Circle is pretty damn good too. And Sammy, what more can you say about him, still putting on some great shows in his mid 70's.
Ronnie Montrose REALLY rocked this song! This is good but the original is way better. I saw Sammy and Ronnie back in the day live.
