Shout out again to Merian for being so amazing and having us in Arizona. It was such an amazing experience!!!! ❤❤ as soon as we got the invitation we knew that we had to film a UA-cam video on her fine hair. We hope you find it super helpful.!!
I feel like you guys do a lot of the same curls (a lot of waves, 3a, 3b usually fine or medium density.) I would love to see some variety such as 4a, thick density! It would be really helpful even to help a wider audience 😊
Ahhhhh! I was right! I saw your photos and I thought it looked like Arizona! I grew up there, I hope you and your sister loved visiting. There are so many unique and beautiful plants in the Sonoran Desert!
@@MiVidaBellisima Mell and her seester, Amanda, have very high density hair, especially Amanda! I've watched many videos on styling 4abc hair. The methods are a little different.
Mell thank you for your videos they have helped a lot I just wanted to know if you had a curly hair routine for fall and what to look for when styling in fall
Great tips! Would love to see styling techniques for fine, low DENSITY curly hair. I feel there is not very much content geared towards fine, thin curly hair... and there are a lot of us out there!
Yes, please! I've tried so many techniques and products and whatnot and nothing really works. My hair dries in the 10 seconds between being underneath the shower and applying products to the extent that I need to re-wet it if I want to apply anything. They're fully dried in 10min without any products, doesnt matter how many hair masks and leave-ins I use, I've been trying so hard for the last 3 years and nothing works. Products people keep recommending for either fine hair or low density hair do not work on me. I wasted so much money on them and my hair looks awful to the point where I want to chop it all off just so I don't have to look at it anymore.
YEESSS! And help with styling tips for those of us with shorter hair. Not everyone with curly hair can have long hair. Add menopausal thinning to 2C/3A hair that was already fine and, while once med density, is now low density…UGH! Mine will no longer grow even to my shoulders. I can sometimes make it look decent in the morning but, 5 min after I leave the house, I look like Einstein on a bad hair day. HELP!!!
This actually got me a bit teared up. This is my hair and I thought I was always doing something wrong when it didn't lay the same or last as long. I feel seen! Thank you both
Loved the video. Would love to see you work on someone with very low density hair. Many women have experienced hairloss, excessive shedding, or possibly have naturally low density hair, and these issues are extra challenging when you have curly hair as thinness is harder to hide for us. Would love to see techniques for this!
I agree, Mel's and most of the videos out there say they have low density and fine hair but WE know, those who truly do, you see scalp when it's wet and if you don't fluff at the right moment, you've got see-through Ramen noodles. Not cute 🫣😒
19:23 Absolutely love when I hear people talking about the chemistry of hair/products and it’s actually scientifically sound. I’m a scientist and one of my biggest pet peeves is people explaining the chemistry of hair and skin care incorrectly
Mell I have to thank you so very much💖 for all your videos! I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I have been binge watching until my eyes have turned square. I have been wearing wigs for 15 years out of frustration with my crazy curly hair. I shaved my head 6 months ago and decided to grow my hair out fresh and grey. I have learned so much from you already and I am actually falling in love with my curls! Thank you❤️🙏!!!
"Do what you have to do for your scalp health." ❤❤Love this!! I'm super oily and have had people comment that I'm over washing with daily shampooing. My hair is healthy and I experience irritation on my scalp if I go without a wash after 2 day 😬 Wish it wasn't the case and do weekly washes , but my oily scalp does not permit!
Mell, I would love to see you do this with someone with fine and low DENSITY hair. I'm struggling with styling. My hair is in great shape, there just isn't much of it.
I watched this video last night and this morning decided to brush my soaking wet hair in the shower the way you did (sort of…probably not nearly as much but I put in some effort). I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful of a difference it made to reduce the frizz which I always battle with. Thank you for sharing your wisdom! Btw I used no products on my hair and had no frizz all day. 😊
This is a hair goddess combo made in HEAVEN!! 🥰🥰 Love the entire Bounce Curl line and can’t wait to try the ribbon technique with it! Thanks Mel and Mercian! 😍
This is the first time I have seen someone with my hair! I’m 46 years old and have always had trouble with my hair being frizzy… as a teen I would brush my hair because I didn’t know what else to do and my hair was so frizzy I got teased a lot. My dad is Hispanic and my mom is Caucasian my folks didn’t know how to help me with my hair but now I can help my daughters with their beautiful curls
This was absolutely fantastic! My 2 (technically 3 including the seester) favorite curly girls in one video! Bounce curl was my first curl specific product that I ever bought back in 2017 at the beginning of my curly self love journey, and then Mell saved me during the pandemic when I was frustrated with the CGM. Y'all are my heroes, idols, and Curly Queens!
Hey I am half german and half guinean and I got the thin hair from my german side and the curls and the amount of hair from my african side. I live in germany and the most people around are not familiar with my kind of hair. So I’m very thankful for this video because I’m very frustrated with my hair at this time:( Tomorrow I will try this technique with my curlsmith products and I hope it’ll work 🎉
I had NO CLUE about charges in products. THANK YOU for sharing that!! I want to know more of the scientiffy behind products and our hair/"hair anatomy". I love it! Oh gosh, and the "it's never too late to continue an education" motivation??! Thank you for that inspiration. I think more of us need to hear it more often.
Such a great video Mel for our fine hair curlies! You really do light up a room, you have such a nice ora about you! Definitely learnt a few new tips for my fine hair so thank you for all your hard work you put in each week!! Marian your hair is stunning and I love bounce curl its Definitely one of my favourite gels I definitely need to try more products! 🤗❤👌👏💇♀️
This was so helpful! I have a similar hair type to Merian (although I have wavy hair) and have been struggling with hair that has too much moisture and softness for the past year or so. I’ve been trying the things mentioned here (minimal conditioner, less product in general, creating that functional frizz), but it’s so validating to hear it from sources that I trust and respect. Also shoutout to BounceCurl for having some awesome products for fine hair even if their fine hair line hasn’t launched yet. The gel used in this video is the only medium hold gel that I like and the hairspray is my ultimate holy grail hair product. I actually tried a wash day with the hairspray as my only hold products and I got awesome volume and decent longevity.
I really do like some of the BC products. The shampoos are amazing. I use the turmeric mask before using my henna. I use the mild clarifying shampoo some times. Both leave my coarse hair soft. The conditioners don’t seem moisturizing enough for me, but I LOVE the clump and define cream out of the shower, then I glaze a gel over it (usually Ecoslay’s Jello Shot). My hair is 2c/3a hair very coarse, high porosity, colored with natural henna for reference. The clump cream is one of the best products I’ve ever used. It’s amazing
I have thick highly porous hair but any video by Mel (and Amanda!) are so informative and helpful. There's always a tip or some info to pick up to add to my own styling. Thank you!!
Such great tips Mel I do have a question tho.....I have thin/fine hair and I currently use a mousse so can you do the ribbon curl method with a mousse and if so how/when would I apply it?
I’m so jealous of her hair. Gorgeous curls! I also have fine hair and very little of it. I’ve lost more hair since having kids. I had to chop my hair due to breakage and my hair was looking terrible. It’s short now and I’m struggling to get it to grow out and look full. My hair immediately starts to thin out at the ends when it’s too long.
Oh my! This is a video made in Heaven. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Anything related to styling I love. I just clean, put leave in, comb my hair e leave it air dry to scrunch, but I like to know styling techniques for that day you need your best curls.
Mell! Could you please educate us on hair "glosses" that are offered in salons, hair treatments (keratin, pura luxa, relaxers, perms) and how they effect natural hair? I see them as services at salons but would like to know more. 😀
yes! I tried doing some research on this the other day and it seemed that the results I got say they are great short term but long term not so much, but I didn’t do extensive research and would love to really learn more
I know keratin and perms are damaging to the hair. I don't recommend them. I don't know about the other treatments. Were you thinking of making your hair more straight or something like that?
@@anastasia581yeah, these are definitely temporary treatments that can go up to a few months, but they're damaging to the hair making it more prone to breakage. Also, these treatments ruin curl patterns, you might never go back to the nice curls you had before...
I used to use bounce curl products when she first started her business. I’ve been wanting to repurchase since she’s added more products and changed packaging. Hopefully will be able to soon. My hair is super similar to hers too.
This video was very helpful. I have fine, low density, medium length, and probably medium porosity hair and I struggle with how to apply my products so it has hold but isn't weighed down and too "producty" feeling. Today was wash day and I used less curl cream and mostly just applied it to the lower half of my hair and I did the rest basically the same as usual with just a little less gel. So far I like the results and it feels lighter.
Another amazing Texture Thursday video! Can't wait to try it out because Ribbon method wasn't always my favorite. My biggest issue is scrunching, because this always breaks up my curls and my curls look super wonky. So trying not to scrunch anymore and it is sooooo difficult
I love seeing these techniques. At 59, I just learned I actually have curly hair. I also have fine hair, but nowhere near that much bair or curly. I havent been through all your videos yet and I am hoping i find something for hair like more like mine. O could aoend days watching all of these!!!
Gawd that hair of hers is so darn luscious and wonderful and to DIE for. As is her hairdresser's hair, which is pretty close in type. I HAD to say it! Those are curls that ROCK!
I have been following you for a long time now and am so happy to see a fine texture, medium density style tutorial. I am currently in the process of growing my fine texture, medium density curls and am struggling with finding a routine to keep it healthy as it grows. Do you have any tips for growing longer curly hair (especially with fine texture)?
This is a dream collaboration for me! OMG. I love both of ya'll so much. I just ordered the BounceCurl styling brush, as well as more gel cause I was FINALLY running low. That product is a MIRACLE for my hair, and ALL of the products smell SO good. I got the Turmeric Detox too! My scalp really needs it but I'd been waffling about weather to just do a normal clarification and this video was the tipping point! I wish only good things for both you ladies and your families!
Omg, back then I was so inspired or really admired her hair type in particular, I always thought her curls were thick 😂❤ Turns out we have the same situation of fine curly hair that’s long and possibly medium (Merian’s) to thick density. Great videos by two great people haha thank you for this ❤
I just bought her new curl defining brush, which brought me to this collab! Interesting to see how she used the smoothing brush and then the volume brush to separate the curls. Im assuming thats how she came up with her new brush! Very cool to see.
Great video. I don’t have fine hair but this was very educational ! The side with your technique had great clumps and less frizz. My favorite side for sure.
*squeals in glee* I genuinely love your channel. It's gotten me through some dark times in my mental health journey. We are hair twins ! Thank you so much 💚 🩰🫶🏽
This was amazing! My hair is very similar. The explanation for porosity and how it changes with cleansing and through length opened my eyes. I'm actually smiling to myself right now because it makes so much sense I'm excited to try this stuff out Thank you ❤
Hi, Mel. PLEASE would like to see some techniques for LOW DENSITY fine hair that easily loses its curl. Also, I'm a healthcare worker so I cannot wear my hair down everyday. Tying my hair up causes a lot of breakage and elongates my curls. Do you have any protective styles you could suggest?
Can you please do a review of the Bellissima Diffon Curly Hair Dryer? It intrigues me so much! They also have a newer model, would love to see you try both and do a comparison. :)
Wow the talk about gel and cream was so informative. I did not know a lot of that and now understand why I’ve had issues brushing in some gels. Thank you!
I live in the north and have very fine medium dense hair that is wavy. I will use a cream, and then partially rinse it out before applying a medium hold gel. It seems to help not weigh down my hairs.
Merian’s definitely right about styling with more gel for more hold, I’ve naturally been doing the same once styling my naturally curly hair haha I lost the fear in it (I never liked crunchy hair & eliminating the need to rake it out at the end of the day & apply an oil: it’s just helpful: time-saving: I just allow it to hold a cast by plopping and then diffuse & re-apply hairspray). • [On this day example: I cowashed by using my deep conditioner : Shea Moisture’s Manuka Honey and Yogurt Protein and Moisture Treatment/Masque & split it into two to disentangle with my Denman 9 row brush: Swooping the ends: then brushing back & correcting and swooping the front to back sections - had my hair side to side - into swoops on the bottom for curl definition : Rinsing: my Denman Brush defined everything already & then it’s wet hair ready for style->) :: When styling, I use a leave-in conditioner that gets raked in, on wet hair, add water if necessary to the concoction, gel (a lot : lost its fear), scrunched in in front of me & side by side to apply hairspray (Salerm 21 Leave-In Conditioner + Giovanni’s L.A Strong Hold Gel + Giovanni’s L.A Natural Hair Spiritz/Hairspray). I love it. Plop with a clip or a long sleeved t-shirt. Do something else, usually eat or go about my business. Come back when I’m ready to apply Giovanni’s Ultra Luxury Silk Potion with Rosepetals ‘ serum as a boosted to doubled heat protectant & star to hoover diffuse, with my hair upside down aka in front of me. Then the hairspray. And it’ll last me a good couple of days! Till my next wash day surprisingly. I just sleep protect using a microfiber* and/or satin pillowcase. I definitely need to get some satin scrunchies to section my front sections into a half pineapple bun cause it usually tangles up for me when I sleep or even if I’m with my hair wet to damp & it hasn’t been styled in example (happened in the salon chair: it starts to knot up or get tangled haha because it’s curly). So, am learning to combat that! ❤😂 Just some personal regimes but I completely get it.
This video was made for me! loved everything and everything was helpfuI! Thaaank youu I was wondering if you hair is super tangled all the time/ you are getting fairy nots but you got a haircut like 2 months ago, do you really need another trim? Or could there be another problem?
Omg the gel thing is legit - I have hurt my hair so much trying to brush gel. It’s so unpredictable what’s gonna happen when I try different products together. My number 1 issue is finding a balance of getting my hair to have enough slip without over adding product…
I like the look of the ribbon curls better than the forward styling side. They both look great, but the ribbon curls look more defined and a little bit of chunk.
Ok I'm obsessed with this video and I'm trying this out on my low porosity, medium density, medium to fine hair!!! Thank you both for your information!!!! ❤❤
It amazes me how much difference there is between fine wavy and fine curly hair. I use Mel's ribbon method, but omfg I use sooo much more product because if I don't my waves will stretch out in a few hours🤣
Mine is 'wurvy' AND low density. I do have to use more products... Or thought I did. I had to rethink after a bad cut. I fell in love with LUS 3-1 styler, but it needs some Hold (and experimenting). I hear it works best with their S&C, but I am obsessed with Virtue Labs for healing and 23% thicker hair instantly. Anyways, I don't love that LUS is free of protein, but it has aminos & i just use it in my mask. Anyways agreed on more product, BUT i have figured out that i was still using too much, and NO plopping on lo-po hair. All the product comes off! Letting it sit for 5-10 min in a wet plop helps the product to absorb.
I love you guys! I'm just starting my journey after killing my hair for years with bleach (which I'll continue to do lol) but really want my curls back. The main issue I have is my hair tangled SO BADLY!! And idk how to keep it from doing that especially when it's curly. I'm a hair flipper. I usually put my hair up at some point in the day (can't stand it Down for too long). So it tangled all the time.
Amazing collaboration :D It was funny and really helpful. I also struggle with fine hair around my face and it does not hold the curl as well as the rest of the hair. I will definetly try the ribbon technique next wash day! Also adding a leave-in was such a gamechanger. My hair has never looked better. It brings me joy everytime. Thanks for sharing all the knowledge🙏
Hi Mel!! Love this video. Could you and Amanda do a DIY haircut for low density hair? Im always so afraid of the ends not looking full with too many layers😭
This video I would say has been the most helpful to me yet as someone with find hair but has a lot of it. I was also reflecting on what questions to ask and the one that came to mind was weather. You have talked about humidity on this channel but I am wondering if you could do a video on what products to use when styling for a rainy week (raining all next week in the UK) and how to keep the frizz down. I did a youtube search and there doesn’t seem to be a lot out there. Need scientify Mell back! Thank you ☺️ Edit: you totally have done a video about rain 😂
I tried to do multiple products last night and my hair looks super dry and feels ick. My usual is I just put one product in and sleep on it, hair up on top of the pillow, and in the morning it’s soft and fluffy 🤷♀️ And my hair is fine, curly
Super video ladies❣️💐👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻 I found this video extremely helpful! 😌💗 I'm a fine, low porosity, 2a, 2b & c curly girl, but I'm in my late 50’s and the dry air is killing my skin & hair! (My hair is 1/3 of what it was in the summer!!😳😥 And WON'T retain moisture at all! I'm seeing a dermatologist in late May, but I think I'll be bald by then!😱😂😂) Can anyone recommend a leave-in conditioner that I can buy in Canadian drugstores?? Thank you and Well done ❣️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌹 Blessings to you and your viewers~💫☃️ 🌛🌹🌜
I know you don’t like mixing products, and I typically have not, but I recently found that adding my serum with my gel gives me a less frizzy soft style with nice curl. When I layer the product, the serum doesn’t seem to absorb into the hair as nicely vs when I add the serum to the gel. I’ve tried various recommended serums, and no matter the brand, I seem to get a better effect by adding the serum to the gel. I use a very small amount of serum (dime size).
Hmmm. Oops are great lessons: Show us you using the gel and how it’s different from using your cream in a side-by-side because most of us are using a product we could improve on in our routine, ya know? (& we know your great hair is perfection!)
Can you talk about mousse!! Sometimes I think my curls like mousse but when I'm done styling I think it would have loved gel better and vice versa I have 3b/3c hair.. thin hair but a lot of hair

I love seeing these techniques. At 59, I just learned I actually have curly hair. I also have fine hair, but nowhere near that much bair or curly. I havent been through all your videos yet and I am hoping i find something for hair like more like mine. O could aoend days watching all of these!!!
So glad to see a video on fine hair. I think I have been using too much product and I do put conditioner and everything else on my roots… 😮
Super helpful for us thin hair curly girls! Always disappointed when my hair doesn’t look like Amanda’s thick full hair.
This is a collab I didn't know I needed! Love it! 😍
What advice would you give to someone with thick hair where whenever it gets longer, it gets thicker and harder to manage? 💕
It's just like my hair! Thank you for the tips, very useful.
Gawd that hair of hers is so darn luscious and wonderful and to DIE for. As is her hairdresser's hair, which is pretty close in type. I HAD to say it! Those are curls that ROCK!
I never see ppl share how to style this type of curly hair. This is my hair and I’m so grateful 🥹🙌🏽
My hair is similar to Merian, it's just shorter and a little bit less curly. This video was so helpful 🥰
I have never heard of Bounce curl before but checking out the ingredients lists it really seems promising!
Brilliant! Would love this on all different porosity types and curl types!
I would be extremely grateful if you made a series for fine, high prosperity hair! And there is very few information about my hair type out there.
I love bounce curl products! Can't wait to try Mel's method with them
Bounce Curl HQ is so beautiful! 🤩
It really is!
Thank you! This helped me understand some of the issues I've been having styling my fine medium density hair, that is also color treated.
Absolutely love this video, all the fine curly haired girl tips and these products!! LOVE your jeans Mel they’re fabulous 😮
*squeals in glee* I genuinely love your channel. It's gotten me through some dark times in my mental health journey. We are hair twins ! Thank you so much 💚 🩰🫶🏽
Great video! I love seeing women support women 🎉 Imagine Mell styling your hair though!!! A curl can dream ☺️
This was amazing!
My hair is very similar. The explanation for porosity and how it changes with cleansing and through length opened my eyes. I'm actually smiling to myself right now because it makes so much sense I'm excited to try this stuff out
Thank you ❤
Thank you!
Happy texture Thursday! I’m so excited to watch this one ❤️
Me too !
Hope you enjoy it!❤️❤️
I live in the north and have very fine medium dense hair that is wavy. I will use a cream, and then partially rinse it out before applying a medium hold gel. It seems to help not weigh down my hairs.
Mell orange is your color! 👌🏼
Thaaank youu
I was wondering if you hair is super tangled all the time/ you are getting fairy nots but you got a haircut like 2 months ago, do you really need another trim? Or could there be another problem?
Love, love, love your videos!!
Amazing collaboration, love you both.
Glad you enjoyed it! Love you!!
The curl queens 👑👑👑❤❤
Mell, the Amazon shears videos pls!!! 😅 I'm in desperate need ✂️
Happy Texture Thursday!! I'm so excited for this collab!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo 😘
Mel you look so different. Your hair is darker, I didn’t recognize you. Excited to view this video. I wish I had a hair stylist that knows curl
Ok I'm obsessed with this video and I'm trying this out on my low porosity, medium density, medium to fine hair!!! Thank you both for your information!!!! ❤❤
Omgosh love this video! It’s amazing to see how her hair turned out without using cream 😅😅😅lol I’m so confused on techniques now
It amazes me how much difference there is between fine wavy and fine curly hair.
10:26 her hair looks just like mine! Super curly at the root and straight at the ends.
Curl power 🥌🥌🥌📃📃
This video I would say has been the most helpful to me yet as someone with find hair but has a lot of it. I was also reflecting on what questions to ask and the one that came to mind was weather. You have talked about humidity on this channel but I am wondering if you could do a video on what products to use when styling for a rainy week (raining all next week in the UK) and how to keep the frizz down. I did a youtube search and there doesn’t seem to be a lot out there. Need scientify Mell back! Thank you ☺️
Edit: you totally have done a video about rain 😂
So much knowledge shared between these two ladies! How exciting! 🤩
I tried to do multiple products last night and my hair looks super dry and feels ick. My usual is I just put one product in and sleep on it, hair up on top of the pillow, and in the morning it’s soft and fluffy 🤷♀️ And my hair is fine, curly
Omg I love both of you!! Mell you need to start your own haircare brand!
Super video ladies❣️💐👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻
I found this video extremely helpful! 😌💗
I'm a fine, low porosity, 2a, 2b & c curly girl, but I'm in my late 50’s and the dry air is killing my skin & hair! (My hair is 1/3 of what it was in the summer!!😳😥 And WON'T retain moisture at all! I'm seeing a dermatologist in late May, but I think I'll be bald by then!😱😂😂)
Can anyone recommend a leave-in conditioner that I can buy in Canadian drugstores??
Thank you and Well done ❣️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌹
Blessings to you and your viewers~💫☃️

Giovanni Weightless should be there or ca amazon.
No words can explain How much i love mell. You are so beautiful, kind smart and funny. You are my role model ❤❤
I feel like you do a lot of the same curls (waves, 3a, 3b usually fine or medium density.) I would love to see some variety such as 4a, thick density.
Will do!! it's been hard to get people on the channel during the pandemic but I plan to bring many different curly types on the channel this year!
Hmmm.
Oops are great lessons:
Show us you using the gel and how it’s different from using your cream in a side-by-side because most of us are using a product we could improve on in our routine, ya know? (& we know your great hair is perfection!)
Omg i love the mittens! I've been using microfiber washcloths but this would be better. Take my money!
I was watching another video but clicked right away because of the title. 🌷💐💕
❤❤❤
I’m definitely going to try the Bounce Curl Gel and Cream. Your both gorgeous women. 🌷💐💕
Thank you so much!!
Excited about the fine hair products
Queens ❤ thank you for this video
Super interesting and fun video! Merian is so lovely. Definitely going to check out her current product offerings.
Can you talk about mousse!! Sometimes I think my curls like mousse but when I'm done styling I think it would have loved gel better and vice versa
I have 3b/3c hair.. thin hair but a lot of hair
Mel you’re the best! Ok now can you do fine hair, with fine density, and short hair???? I’m happy to model for you :)))))) Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
