Bottom never fails to reduce me to tears. RIP Rik Mayall. I’m so glad that you as an American appreciate Bottom. It’s so puerile and slapstick but that’s why it’s so funny.
@@AfterWorkReactions 9:48 RIP Rik Mayall 1958 - 2014. On my channel I've got some scenes from Bottom and sketches from Fast Show and Hale and Pace and some other funny videos if you'd like to do reaction videos to them sometime.
Hard to believe that Rick Mayall is the same actor whom plays sad Richie here but also Flash Heart in Blackadder. Shows what a great actor he was. Glad you loved this, my favourite comedy.
First time I ever saw Rik Mayall was as a character called Kevin Turvey on a show called A Kick up the Eighties back in 1981. Him and Ade then did a show called The Young Ones, 1982 to 1984. Also check out Filthy, Rich and Catflap.
4:30 A bullock is a male cow. A male bovine that's been castrated and is being raised for meat stock. They're playing off the amusing phonetic similarity between the words "bullocks" and "bollocks".
@@normandavidtidiman9918 I've just got the dvd of Guest House Paradiso, and it says at the top "Richie and Eddie's Bottom Movie". On the back it says "Bottom explodes onto the big screen". They play the same characters. I'd say it's a Bottom movie BUT I remember when it was released it wasn't marketed as such. Confusing. You're right though, it's not brilliant, the best thing about it is the reference to Jacques Tati's Monsieur Hulot's Holiday, with the BOING noise whenever the kitchen door opens. Nice touch.
@@johnboy2562 Yeah,I saw this at the cinema and it wasn't marketed as such at all. I'm pretty sure I've got the DVD too, but it was a LONG time ago and I haven't watched it since so cannot remember the blurb on the sleeve.
You summed that up perfectly, about Rik Mayall’s breathing that makes him sound nervous and excited at the same time. He used to do that so well. RIP Rik 😢
0:37 Not to depress you or anything, but the rest of the world doesn't play, or even especially know about baseball or American football, apart from the Canadians when they get REALLY really bored. This is cricket gear, which a large portion of the world DOES play. (Thanks to us invading them and leaving it behind when we fucked off.)
Josh, you have GOT to watch the Bottom Live shows. Bottom TV show was great, but the Live shows are truly AMAZING! Trust me on this, Bottom Live is like Industrial Strength hilarious! I'm not suggesting you do a reaction vid for them, just do yourself a massive favour & check them out. You won't regret it!
I love the way the audience intuitively laughs at the site of Richie with a big red mark on his cricket gear. As all true Englishmen understand, Cricketers always polish their balls before they throw them, but its usually on their thy, where as Richie had obviously been over enthusiastically polishing his balls in the groinal area ! To be fair to Richie, those big hard red balls do need a dam good polishing to generate swing in the air, some cricketers pick their balls, but this is deemed illegal !
"oh miss Jones, oh miss Jones" it's from a show called Rising Damp, very old British sitcom about a bigoted right wing landlord clashing with a young lefty student and African tenant. He also lusts after a female tenant called miss Jones. Whilst some argue the show has outdated language and attitudes, it was actually progressive for its time, showing that the landlord was slowly losing his place in the world and is often bested in games of wits by the African tenant and clashes against the liberal views of the leftest student. He is also a miserly, miserable, loveless man who is often the figure of fun.
A bullock is a male cow. He switched the word instead of using b*ll^ckz. Anyway, a fantastic reaction - I laughed more at you laughing than I did of the jokes 😂
Josh, that was the best and funniest reaction i've seen you do. I havn't seen that episode in a long long time, the madcap comedy, your laughing and the womans chuckle in the background had me creased. In the words of comic book guy: Best reaction everrrr!!
that was one of the funniest episodes and it was made even funnier by you pissing yourself laughing.... hahaha! Eddie trying to get off with the french barman, fucking genius
Absolutely brilliant and one of my favorites and watching you laugh made me laugh so much, Ted Rogers was a TV quiz host for the programme 321 back in the 80s, again brilliant 🍻🙏🙏🙏
LOL Josh the game they came back from playing is cricket, which is a major summer sport in much of the former British empire, it fills a similar gap to baseball in North America.
My brother was living in London when these were all made. He said a friend of his had tickets to the recording of the very first episode and offered him one. Nobody had heard of it before and he had something else on so had to decline. He's still kicking himself to this day as he said his friend said it was the funniest thing he'd ever witnessed.
I love having these play whilst I work and being reminded of the old classics whilst you laugh your ass off ha. Brilliant work mate. Especially loving the Bottom catch ups and Peep Show. Excellent comedies
I gave up watching Arsenal away to Wolves for this! One of the best uploads yet Josh. Hilarious....and I have seen this episode at least 5 times. Arsenal won too....😎
My fav comedy. Ive been doing Rik impressions for 25 years. Watch "Contest" from the 1st series of Bottom. Its the first one they shot and, imo, the best one.
Bottom started off as a kind of beckett play meets laurel and Hardy and had a slightly more 'ground in reality' approach but as the series progressed it went more into cartoon slapstick, kinda like family guy before family guy existed. Strong episodes in each series but depends on what type of humour you prefer on what series you prefer. But with any of the Bottom content there has been nothing even close to that style since. Always Sunny and family guy are the closest things but still no really anywhere near
Love seeing you laugh so much at this, Josh. Bottom is one of my fav shows. Hope you are able to react to the live shows some day, they're just as funny ;)
A bullock is a bull without its bollocks 😄 Castrated at a young age so they don't fight each other when being beefed up for the slaughter house or (in times past and foreign lands) so they can be used as beasts of burden.

You need to check out ‘The Comic Strip Presents’ from the early 80’s. It’s basically a series of short stories done by the ‘alternative’ comedians of the day including Rik, Ade and Nigel amongst many others. Just google it and watch although I love ‘Mr Jolly lives next door’, ‘A fist full of travellers cheques’ and the ones based on the Enid Blyton Famous Five books.

Josh you need to watch them in an old movie they made called Mr Jolly Lives Next Door. It's basically them as Rich and Eddie (as always) but not them beiong chased by a gangster and they have an office next door to a serial killer.
I watched this as a 10year old in the 90’s
