CFmoto 450SS - is it really a beginner bike?!

  • Was off to get my beard trimmed, and the little bit of hair I have left touched up so I decided to take the 450SS so I could address whether I think it’s really a beginner’s bike.
    This bike’s popularity is growing quickly, so I figured why not chat about it a little bit and provide my opinion.

    Please stop stopping directly behind vehicles in the middle. You got no good escape plan if someone comes in hot and doesn't see you.

      You should be able to see down either entire drivers side or passenger side of vehicle in front. Never shift into neutral at stop either lee it in first. Those things could save you if had to move out way quickly.

    I’m 48. I bought this, as my first bike, two weeks ago. Hopped on and road it around my neighborhood, with relative ease, for over an hour. I love this bike and I’m kicking myself for not starting riding sooner.

    I’m still torn between the 450 ss and the ninja 400. I’m going to check both of them out this Saturday so hopefully that will help me decide. Just from looks alone, the 450 wins hands down imo.

    • @CharlieDTE
      @CharlieDTE  10 місяців тому +3

      I would say that you could commute on this bike if you wanted to, depending on how long your commute is. Me personally, I wouldn’t want to commute any further than about an hour each way. Any further than that i would get a bike that puts you in a more upright position.
      However, if you’re simply wanting to do touring and long rides on the weekend, I think this bike can handle that. I’ve ridden about 2 hours straight without being uncomfortable or sore. Total ride time in one day was about 5 hours!

    Do you notice any difference in your steering with the added steering damper?

    • @CharlieDTE
      @CharlieDTE  11 місяців тому +2

      The steering damper made a noticeable difference for sure. The tension is adjustable so at lower settings the steering feels pretty close to stock. However, as you increase the tension higher and higher, it gets VERY stiff.
      I like to increase the stiffness a bit when I’m going to be riding on highways averaging 70+ MPH.
      What I will say is that this kit was ordered from AliExpress, and although the quality doesn’t seem bad at all, I’m curious how well it will hold up over time.

  • @KuvaCzardas
    @KuvaCzardas 10 місяців тому +2

    How does the steering damper work? I`m struggling to choose budget steering dampers for my 450sr.

    • @CharlieDTE
      @CharlieDTE  10 місяців тому +1

      It seems to do what it's intended to do. I typically leave it on setting 8 when just riding around town, which adds a bit more tension to the steering, but nothing dramatic. If I'm going to be hoping on the highway , I'll bump up the tension to 12 and you can really start feeling a difference then.
      I ordered mine from aliexpress. Although they all appear to be "branded" differently, they all look pretty much identical. I don't expect it to last forever, but maybe higher quality ones will come out down the road!

      The only difference between the two is the name. 450SR is used in countries outside of the United States and SS is used in the United States. I will add that the decals used on the SR are slightly different as they have decals that say "play to win" and "#more fun" on them. Those decals are not on the SS version of the bike.
