Thanks for the useful video. In spite of the parts issues I'm eagerly waiting for the 450NK to arrive in the US. It's the first sub 500cc bike I can get excited about!

Thanks for the vid!, answered a lot of the questions I gad about the bike and brand also alleviated a few concerns. Was gonna buy the bike anyway but this info definitely helps thanks again
For air filter elements, if you can't find a new one you can just vacuum out the old one with the crevice tool on a vacuum cleaner. Just did this on my car, and both the engine filer and the cabin filter came out almost like new.
Good start to your channel 😊 I have been thinking about purchasing this bike well before it arrived in the US. All the things you discussed, I discovered during my research. So your video confirmed my findings. However I think the bike offers good value for performance and features. One issue which you didn’t mention is resale value. Everyone is not sold on Chinese made motorcycles. Hopefully Cfmoto can overcome that perception. After WWII Americans felt the same about Japanese motorcycles. Now we rave about them. 😅
I'm glad we're aligned! You're right, I didn't mention the resale value, but that is def a big drawback to all CFmoto products right now for sure. Luckily, they are priced very well right now, but I'll be curious to see how many are listed in the next 12-24 months and how well they move at used prices. I'm thinking if you can recoup 3,000-3,500 bucks people should be happy. Anything more, people will just go buy new. Anything less and it's going to feel like you're getting bent over LOL
I live in greece and chinese bikes have taken over the past 3 years and their resale prices have surprisingly stayed high. The 450sr (its called the sr here) is brand new (for 6.300€) and there are no used ones but other chinese bikes like zontes 125cc new 3.000€ sell for 2.300 used all day for 22||21 models with some as high as 2.500 for an early 23 model while a competitor mt125 is about 5.000 new and sells for 3.800. So they keep their price for the first 3-4 years only loosing a lot of value after that or with very high miles which affects japanese bikes less. Hope this helps even if I'm referencing a different market👍🏻
I just got my bike and I’m around 100 miles already put on it, and sometimes I smell this smell. It’s almost like burning or coolant or something idk if it’s just the bike getting too hot, or if it’s still in its break in phase that it makes the smell
Hope you’re enjoying the bike! Odd smells will always cause a little bit of anxiety that’s for sure. This could be a couple of things: 1 - a lot of times manufacturers will put some type of oil on things like the exhaust pipes to ensure they don’t develop rust while traveling in crates. When you have a brand new bike, you may smell some of that burning off. 2 - coolant typically has a pretty distinct smell to it. If your dealership accidentally put a little too much coolant in the reservoir, it could be overflowing. If you look in the opening of your right fairing (brake lever side), you’ll see a small black tube. That’s the overflow for the coolant. When it runs out of there, it will just drop down and could hit the exhaust causing it to burn and create a smell. Check to see if you have any coolant dripping out. 3- lastly, just heat in general can cause things to smell. I would give it through the break in period to see if the smells die down a bit before you worry. If still present after break in, give your dealer a call and see if they can do a look over.
I have seen some videos on this. There is a coolant overflow pipe on the right-hand side (hidden under the fairing) you can get coolant dripping. It's not bad but if you are worried check with your dealer. Also I have 700km (430miles) and I still smell things and hear things that are nothing more than getting used to a bike I don't know much about. 😂 at the moment I swear I smell supper glue after a 30min ride 😀
@NoobTubeMoto I am based in New Zealand a d wonder if you noticed a difference once your break in period finished, and you changed oil (if you have already)?
@@robroos8651 I did my initial oil change a couple of weeks ago, when the bike had around 600 miles on it. At the same time I adjusted my chain tension, the clutch cable tension and the gear shifter positioning. The first time I took the bike out after doing all of those things everything felt more in synch I guess I could say. I’m not sure that it was one of those things more so than a combination of just the general upkeep/maintenance, but 200 miles after doing those things the bike, in my opinion, feels better than it did the day I brought it home.
Yup, I’m with you. However, there aren’t yet cross references available for these filters. So if someone wanted to pick up a K&N for example, they would have to take the filter with them and manually compare to see which might work. Doable for sure, but the average consumer, or beginner rider isn’t going to be interested in doing that so I just figured it was worth calling it out.
Well It depends on the quality of the filter. I love to see a OEM filter Some aftermarket brands are the same quality, or in some cases even better. But you can also end up with cheap Chinese rubbish (and you don't want dud filters). OEM is more expensive, but it's a safe way to go. cheapest oil filter and it destroys your engine over time
Great video man, im looking into getting my first bike and I’m between this and the ninja 400. The only thing that I like more than the ninja is that it’s a kawasaki and it could be more reliable and (how you described) there’s more aftermarket parts and tutorials on the bike, but I love this bike and still am heavily considering it. Subscribing so if I do get this bike can watch your tutorials🫡
Let me know what you end up buying! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either bike. If having that name Kawasaki offers you piece of mind that the bike should last a long time, and you really want an abundance of aftermarket support available right away, grab yourself a N400 (the KRT edition is my fav). But, if you're looking for something more unique, that sounds way better, and will likely have more aftermarket over the next year or so, get yourself the CFM450SS and I don't think you'll regret it!
how new are you to UA-cam in terms of like editing and the whole process of content creation? honestly I subbed just coz you changed the blue accents to red on the bike
@@Az-uf2up I literally got my first GoPro earlier this year, but didn’t use it much until I bought the bike in April. So really just a couple months of trying to learn how it all works! I appreciate you subscribing because I did something unique with the bike! I’m hopeful to keep doing cool things with it and giving people ideas and inspiration.
Most new models will have parts availability issues, and being a new bike the aftermarket will take time to develop parts. Much of this video is commonplace even with Japanese manufacturers (I'm a kawi owner myself) and is just something you deal with with new models.
Hey, you're not wrong. But, not everyone interested in a "beginner" bike is aware of all the things I mentioned in this video. It's not something that is typically thought about until after you purchase a bike, so I figured it was worth people knowing ahead of time....hopefully.
I have a suggestion for a video. Can you go into chain tension? I bought my daughter a 300ss for her first bike and im hopefully picking up my 450 today. I noticed on the 300 the tension is correct as far as measurement, but when holding any speedthe top of the chain vibrates up and down by about 1/2" - 3/4". When accelerating, it pretty much smooth. Also, when you are off the bike and watching someone go by, you can hear the chain especially when decelerating. It soynds like a bicycle with someone spinning the pedals backward, like a clicking or ratcheting sound. Not sure if it needs to be tightened or loosened. Originally the tension was at around 1.4" and i titghtened it to 1.1" It sounds better on acceleration but still the same everywhere else
Did you end up picking up the 450SS for yourself?? As far as your daughter's bike, I can see how that would be frustrating and concerning for sure. Have you ensured the rear wheel is straight, by checking that the notches on the tensioners (both sides of the wheel) are even? A wheel that is not straight could def cause some unusual chain movement and noises. I'll do a bit of research regarding the chain tension on these bikes and see if I can get a video out...Maybe some folks will find it helpful!
Hi. Can I please ask, I've got a new 450 about a month ago and I was wondering do you get a uncomfortable clunk or thud when you change gears? The gear thud or clunk is worse on down shifts. Does your bike do this on gear changes? I've taken the bike back to the dealers and they tell me this is normal. Do you get the same thing?
Yeah, I would say it's somewhat common to have a bit of noise when downshifting, especially if you are not rev matching (blipping the throttle) on the downshifts
Fair points tbh, especially the availability of parts in general and planning ahead. I think that would depend on the person and their priorities cause I've been hearing the same songs sung with Ducati, Aprillia, Moto Guzzi, triumph, harley, etc and that doesn't stop anyone from buying them. and they're more expensive 😂
FILTERS and SHIMS - Oil and air filters are contracted out. Since the OEM oil filter costs $17+tax+shipping, it'd be worthwhile to find an aftermarket substitute for half the price. In many filter reviews, WIX is rated highly, and WIX has a broad range of sizes to fit most vehicles without the marketing costs of K&N, STP, etc. Just match the outer dimensions, gasket size, and the screw-on threads of the equivalent WIX filter and use that. You could find a Japanese OEM filter that WIX makes a substitute for, and go with the WIX equivalent. Similar for valve adjustment shims. Since they differ just in outer dimensions, use an equivalently sized shim sold for a common Japanese bike.
I live in the city where these bikes are made. My girlfriend works right near the the factory. I am thinking of starting a business selling these parts. Do you think there is enough demand?
yes man, defo, this bike gonna be as popular as yamaha mt07 or kawasaki ninja300/650. Since it beat all the competitors with price and features, people who sell parts or service these bikes gonna make big money
Awesome review on an overall awesome bike. Every other UA-camr I've seen do a review on this bike kept saying they couldn't see where CFMoto was saving money on this bike and making it cheaper than the ninja 400, but looks like they cut a lot of corners on the TFT display 😅
I'm wanting to buy one of these but nobody is making front springs or rear shocks yet. I still can't figure out why they didn't put adjustable front forks on these bikes. It wouldn't have cost them much more at all. That's the only reason I haven't purchased one yet
Just came back in from a ride! Honestly, it rides exactly the same as it did the day I bought it. Starts right up with 0 problems even after sitting (outside) during the winter with no battery tenderizer on it. For someone looking for a great, well priced, starter bike that feels premium I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest the 450SS.
This comment section is wild. So many people are here just complaining about china and not looking at the bike. Please go touch grass and stay off the internet for a little bit.
stumbled upon on your video while i was researching the "bad sides" of the 450ss/sr. Good points on the parts availability and longevity of this bike. Totally agree also with how these TFT displays last over time specially ones that offers comprehensive bluetooth connectivities (i.e., navigation, music, phone calls) with how all these phone companies spit one new model after another + constant software updates on all models alike. Sure, it's understandable for mc manufacturers to offer colorful TFTs on their dash but this one from CFMOTO caught my eye due to that 'special' bluetooth options. Personally, i like what they offer in terms of tech but I still question how these would last. I would turn a blind eye to this types of 'issues' but this was one of the things that got me even watching reviews of the 450ss/sr in the first place. Already got my mind full of doubts for the engine and its related parts' reliability, now the software-side adds another headache 😂 probably I'll wait for other bike brands to have this added features for bluetooth connectivity if they added OTA updates or thru bluetooth updates (like how smart watches does it). Its low price + bomb of a spec sheet are tempting, but all other factors cancels these out once you consider to have this bike for a long time (and resell values of CFMOTOs are relatively low compared to other well-established brands, so, another on the list 😂😂)
Totally get that! Unfortunately, I’m not aware of anything out there currently that would help you add more power to this bike. You can add a slip-on exhaust in hopes that it allows better air flow out of the exhaust, but that alone doesn’t guarantee any power gains. We’ll need to continue waiting for ECU flashes, full exhaust systems, air intakes and O2 deletes to be more readily available.
Sorry to hear that. The bike's Bluetooth functionality seems to be a little on the weak side unfortunately. Luckily the bike itself makes up for some of those small quirks in my opinion.
Good video, im in the market and one of the biggest draws is the technology / dash that this offers versus the basically ghetto style that other manufacturers at this price point offer. Another thing im trying to figure out is basic ergonomics. im 6'2 with a 33 inch inseam and something like an R3 is really cramped , trying to find something that is actually comfortable to ride on
The R3 is quite an aggressive beginner’s bike for sure when it comes to the ergonomics. Although I’m only 5’7” and can’t really speak to the same issues you have, I feel like the ergonomics of this bike would work for you. I would say it’s inbetween the R3 and a Ninja 400. R3 being really aggressive/dedicated positioning and Ninja 400 being extremely relaxed with more of an upright position. Good luck finding the bike that’s just right for you!
Just sat on a 450SS yesterday at the dealer. I'm 5'11" with 31" inseam. It was pretty tight for the legs, really folds you up. Upper body was fine, and wind resistance will help keep you upright. The clip-ons are pretty high up. Check it out yourself when you can. Overal, the 650NK is much nicer ergonomically.
@@apolloincmc I can flat foot if I very slightly lean to one side or the other. I wouldn’t say I’m quite on my tippy toes either though. I feel extremely planted and confident.
Nice! Yeah, I honestly think software updates over the last year have greatly helped with ease of use. When the bike first released in the US, there was very minimal support in general.
Well I do not currently have an aftermarket exhaust, but if I did, I may call my dealer and inquire with them before I took it in for any servicing work that may need to be done. Some manufacturers will, while others will not void a warranty simply due to a slip on exhaust.
@NoobTubeMoto so I just bought my 450 Saturday. I asked them about it and they said they don't know. It's a touchy subject. Apparently anything that enhances the performance is a void. Which a slip on doesn't really do that. But in the manuel, it also states aftermarket parts voids the warranty. So it is weird. After my 1st service, I'll most likely get a slip on and if I service it again with the dealer, I'll put the stock back on
it already outperforms its competition and a slip on just makes more noise aka louder, doesn't touchConverter. converter. no added performance to be had from slip on.
I don’t bother with in dash navigation. It’s just cumbersome & on-off. Helmet Bluetooth to Maps/Ways or if you’re fortunate to have a bike with either CarPlay… or just use the phone powered to the USB
Have you found a need for a taller windscreen at all? You mentioned maintenance items, what about availability of brake parts and air filters? I live rural so any bike we own would see a lot of dust getting to and from the highway , air filters would be important... also, possibly a radiator guard screen ...
I did purchase the taller and tinted windscreen from CFmoto directly. Made a pretty decent difference on the highway. I’m already starting to see maintenance items become a bit more readily available. I check out parts through cfmotopartsusa.com and they tend to have tons of stuff available!
cool video. although all these issues are all common sense with any brand new product released to the public. real test would be to give it at least 6 months so they can get real feedback and make their adjustments- especially with the ui integrating with your phone etc. remember that this is pushed as a beginner bike, so you know its not going to be perfect but for what it is, it seems to be killing it and cant wait to get my hands on it. but again, great and informative video especially when most people are being paid to say nothing but good things about it. thanks noobtube!
Aussie companies Verex Exhaust & Mustard bikes fender eliminators are just 2 of the better products for the 450SR/SS prices justify quality workmanship & materials. Look for a video of the sound… you will change your mind.😎 The 450 is a cracking bike 🔥 Your bike is based on the 2 colour schemes 😎 Did it start out as the white version?
I have the Mustard Bikes fender eliminator installed (I have a video doing the install) and agree with your comments. The fit, finish and quality is fantastic. I've also been in contact with the owner of Verex and have had personal sound clip videos sent to me. It does seem like it would sound good, but I am nervous to spend nearly $600 on the exhaust by the time I get it shipped to the states and not love it. As for the bike, yup. This is a nebula black bike (the white/black/blue) version, but I removed all of the factory red accents and replaced them with official CFmoto red ones (that come on the Zircon black version), but also added a couple of additional accent pieces. Like it?!
@@CharlieDTE thanks for your reply! It looks very different & unique. Totally different to any standard version! Personal preference is what makes your bike stand apart 🙌

I haven't come across a service manual for the 450SS yet. Maybe I will try contacting my local dealer to see if they have one so we can at least find out if it exists first.
@@CharlieDTE I got a 300NK last summer, sure with the 450SS was available then...but my dealership here in Little Rock unfortunately does not seem to know too much about CFMOTO at all, whenever I ask them about this brand I always am met with "I don't know". They ordered a tool kit for my bike at least 6 months ago, which did not come with one, and it still has not arrived. Hopefully your dealerships are more in tune with this manufacturer. I would sure love to know more about them, as I think I may be holding out for the high end 800NK next year.
that's just a little worrying at the owner's manual don't tell you what coolant to use if you put different coolants in it it can cause corrosion with the radiator and cause head gasket leaks
That’s correct! But, the amount of things that are available is still very slim compared to most bikes on the market. And more importantly to some people, is that basically none of the stuff available is made by well known, reputable companies.

@@ItsWoadie that sounds like a great friend to have! I’m sure the SRS will make its way to the states…people will be really excited to have the single swingarm.
I'm sure it may be a bit on the small side depending on what you're used to. This bike only weighs about 375 pounds, and was likely designed to be a track bike, so it makes since that they might keep it on the "small side". However, in my opinion when compared to a Ninja 400, this bike actually feels a bit larger to me, closer to the feeling of a KTM RC390.
Make a short one and link to this if someone needs the in-depth context to what you're talking about. Or use watermarks and at those watermarks you instantly start adressing the problems you're having. Way too long.

I love to see a OEM filter
Some aftermarket brands are the
same quality, or in some cases even
better. But you can also end up with
cheap Chinese rubbish (and you
don't want dud filters). OEM is more
expensive, but it's a safe way to go. cheapest oil filter and it destroys your engine over time
Often times OEM filters are actually better quality than Aftermarket.
This has updated much better now.
Ong same here!
But, if you're looking for something more unique, that sounds way better, and will likely have more aftermarket over the next year or so, get yourself the CFM450SS and I don't think you'll regret it!
was in the same situation as you and went with the cfmoto. cant go wrong with either
Ali-A's intro gots competition
have you tried contacting cfmoto if there will be a firmware update regarding the issues you mentioned?
I have not made an attempt to contact them, no. Might not be the worst idea though!
how new are you to UA-cam in terms of like editing and the whole process of content creation? honestly I subbed just coz you changed the blue accents to red on the bike
It's not something that is typically thought about until after you purchase a bike, so I figured it was worth people knowing ahead of time....hopefully.
looked they sell stuff like oil filters on aliexpress and accessories too fyi.
@NoobTubeMoto yes got my 450 yesterday. Loving it. And yes on the 300, the wheel according to the marks is pretty much as perfect as it gets.
Mine sometimes would do that as well, as well as sometimes get stuck in between gears for a moment
@@justinowens2077 monkaS
Yeah, I would say it's somewhat common to have a bit of noise when downshifting, especially if you are not rev matching (blipping the throttle) on the downshifts
Fair points tbh, especially the availability of parts in general and planning ahead. I think that would depend on the person and their priorities cause I've been hearing the same songs sung with Ducati, Aprillia, Moto Guzzi, triumph, harley, etc and that doesn't stop anyone from buying them. and they're more expensive 😂
Ha, exactly! Basically everything is “in demand” now a days with slow/low production which makes for a bad combination for consumers.
FILTERS and SHIMS -
Oil and air filters are contracted out.
You could find a Japanese OEM filter that
WIX makes a substitute for, and go with the WIX equivalent.
Similar for valve adjustment shims. Since they differ just in outer dimensions, use an equivalently sized shim sold for a common Japanese bike.
I live in the city where these bikes are made. My girlfriend works right near the the factory. I am thinking of starting a business selling these parts. Do you think there is enough demand?
yes i think it could get you some bag, what city you from
Glad we were able to connect on IG!
yes man, defo, this bike gonna be as popular as yamaha mt07 or kawasaki ninja300/650.
Man ninja 400 dont even have a TFT display
Thanks for watching!
I'm wanting to buy one of these but nobody is making front springs or rear shocks yet. I still can't figure out why they didn't put adjustable front forks on these bikes. It wouldn't have cost them much more at all. That's the only reason I haven't purchased one yet
Those stickers on the tires look dope! I goota find those
Charlie, after 8 months how is the bike performing? I'm looking into getting one.
Already got my mind full of doubts for the engine and its related parts' reliability, now the software-side adds another headache 😂
probably I'll wait for other bike brands to have this added features for bluetooth connectivity if they added OTA updates or thru bluetooth updates (like how smart watches does it).
Its low price + bomb of a spec sheet are tempting, but all other factors cancels these out once you consider to have this bike for a long time (and resell values of CFMOTOs are relatively low compared to other well-established brands, so, another on the list 😂😂)
i absolutely love my 450ss but i want to put some more power down on it any ideas on modifications?
Totally get that! Unfortunately, I’m not aware of anything out there currently that would help you add more power to this bike.
You can add a slip-on exhaust in hopes that it allows better air flow out of the exhaust, but that alone doesn’t guarantee any power gains. We’ll need to continue waiting for ECU flashes, full exhaust systems, air intakes and O2 deletes to be more readily available.
Maybe remove the catalytic converter and re-tune it.
I was just looking into the 450ss. Looks like team msc makes an ecu flash now btw. How has your bike held up after 8 months?
Bought mine couple months ago and have problems with syncing, Bluetooth helmet to the 2023 450ss
Sorry to hear that. The bike's Bluetooth functionality seems to be a little on the weak side unfortunately. Luckily the bike itself makes up for some of those small quirks in my opinion.
You can switch to that screen. I ride with that set up previously on all the time. Has two different screen choices. Just hit the ent to select it.
Thanks for letting me know!
@@CharlieDTE im same height. can you flat foot it or are you on your toes?
Just sat on a 450SS yesterday at the dealer. I'm 5'11" with 31" inseam. It was pretty tight for the legs, really folds you up. Upper body was fine, and wind resistance will help keep you upright. The clip-ons are pretty high up. Check it out yourself when you can. Overal, the 650NK is much nicer ergonomically.
@@apolloincmc I can flat foot if I very slightly lean to one side or the other. I wouldn’t say I’m quite on my tippy toes either though. I feel extremely planted and confident.
@@CharlieDTE awesome. thank you. def going to be getting this as my first bike!
Whats the difference between SR and SS ?
Nice video thanks mate! Just the intro sound was in my opinion a bit too loud :)
I agree 😅
i think ss is for America and sr is for Europe and other continents, it's the same bike under different names
@@robert.slatt.originalYep. Its the SR here in Australia.
I have not experienced any issues with the bluetooth. I figured out everything on day 1. I have been using it a lot.
Nice! Yeah, I honestly think software updates over the last year have greatly helped with ease of use. When the bike first released in the US, there was very minimal support in general.
Doesnt an exhaust void the warranty? Do you put the stock exhaust back on before servicing ?
Wise man! It's a cool little feature they've built in, but I agree that the in dash navigation is not my preferred method.
Thanks for watching and commenting! A year and 1800 miles later, the bike still starts, stops and changes gears the same as it did day 1!
Subbed great video man!
Thank you for watching, and I appreciate the sub!
Where did you get those gloves and helmet they are sick
Great job thanks for the info.
Aussie companies Verex Exhaust & Mustard bikes fender eliminators are just 2 of the better products for the 450SR/SS prices justify quality workmanship & materials. Look for a video of the sound… you will change your mind.😎 The 450 is a cracking bike 🔥
Your bike is based on the 2 colour schemes 😎 Did it start out as the white version?
Like it?!

I think the app disconnects due to a "flaw/feature" in iPhones. If you do not leave the app open before closing the screen it would count as a background one and stop working.
Very well could be within the phone itself! However, I even tried leaving the phone unlocked in my backpack and the connection would still drop 😔

that's just a little worrying at the owner's manual don't tell you what coolant to use if you put different coolants in it it can cause corrosion with the radiator and cause head gasket leaks
