- Archeage Unchained 101 - Land and Housing is the first deep dive video into a single topic in preparation for Archeage Unchained for the 30 September Release Date. While we do not have all the answers for all the questions, this should help people get a good grasp on what is going on.
As always if you have a question, please leave a comment. Also there were a couple of things I was looking for feedback on specifically on the entire dual region with labor pools and loyalty pools. What do you think about that? Does it need to change?

From the discussion at 18:00 what's your opinion on shared labor pools?
brilliant!! shared pool of labor would kill the alts and I think everyone is up for that, this game can be played with 1 character as you can lvl up every skill tree.

I would love to see it set up this way. I have been in the AntiAlts crew for years and this sounds like a good solution for this issue.
I do not agree with the shared labor pool! There is never enough labor as it is! Sharing it will make things that much harder. And the thought that it would kill the alts can't be true, it wouldn't make sense. Having more alts so you can get more done will be what this encourages. Also how fun will that be to switch to the EU server to do chores, but wait, you used all your labor up on NA?

Wish you talked more about Land and Housing, but most of the video felt like you were talking about 'why' land and housing were still relevant. You briefly discussed 16x16 options but would have loved more nuance on the pros and cons. It would been great to hear more detail about 'where' to put housing, instead of just touching on the climate mechanic and moving on. Forum posts are all talking about Sandeep being an OP spot -- still no good resource to describe what that means to a returning legacy player. What are the best temperate locations? What are the best things to do to achieve the necessary materials to create or reserve land? How many land pieces are we attempting to reserve on October 5th? Is it more efficient to level multiple characters to reserve multiple 16x16 cottages or is it better to farm one bigger farm on one character? So many questions that need to be answered related to actual land and housing.
So, you are 100% Correct.
However, you have to realize you've just detailed out a paragraph of questions which probably turns into 12 minutes of answers.
I am hoping to get a second video done from the Farmer's point of view as to where to get land for what purposes. I have all this historical stuff store, but translating it from what I have into videos is difficult.
A lot of your questions are GREAT questions I also can't answer them. I don't know if we are restricted to 1 character or 2 on our accounts. I don't want to waste time and effort developing irrelevant content since there is such little time. Some of these things will get answered, but as clips from my twitch as we go.
I would love to have the time to do a like 400 page guide with like 80 videos. Just don't have the information I need to do it.
Now, if we can get Gamigo to give the patch notes and access to the internal testing server.....
Archeage is a game of knowledge = power, People arent going to shoot themselves in the foot by giving away all their trade and farming secrets. There is a f2p version of archeage thats not the same model as AAU but you can test a few things on there leading up to AAU

I spent way too long doing the wrong things as a Content Creator. Instead of taking the time to build my community and make sure my community was getting what it needed, I was worried about what I needed.
I was worried about getting the next video out on time, no matter the cost in production quality.
I was worried about getting those next subscribers without paying attention to my viewers.
This past summer I decided to flip the script and take care of the people I have. If a video gets 1,000 views, then I want to make sure 1,000 people got what they needed. If that means I have to make less videos that week because I have to get it right, then that is what that means.
You all have supported me through this development, so you deserve a minimum quality.

Yes, sometimes I don't understand half of it, but it's on me, because I quit after they introduced the gear that I used to farm for weeks in the cash shop (the plants that drop tokens that you had to exchange for the gear, I forgot its name, maybe Hasla gear?). All in all, I understood quite a lot about what I missed in more than 3 years by watching 5 hours of your content. That is how I measure quality. Your slides are on point, your explaining skills are great, you address important topics step by step. If I don't understand something - I can simply go back to the previous vid in the series or replay some parts and I start to understand it better. That was what I was looking for since I've heard of AAU. You delivered and keep delivering. Seriously, I don't have ANYTHYNG bad to say about your videos. Great job and thanks for your time!
I've been bugging my girlfriend with how AA was the best mmo I've ever played (before it went full p2w) since we started dating, and I wasn't sure I'll be able to hop back in 6.0 and not lose myself. So much has changed. You delivered all the information I needed and I can tell you'll have all the information I will need in the future.

The truth is there is probably 30 things I could fix in my videos, but 3 years go there were like 200 things so they've come a long way.
I"m not worried about my sub count anymore to be honest, that's why you'll see there isn't anything asking for subs in the newer videos. If I get them I get them, if I don't, as long as people enjoy the content that's what matters.

same here, I know that removing APEX will decrease the need for ALT on both regions but we can go further and created shared pool across regions and ALT creation will decrease lot more and we can have more real numbers in terms of active population(mains). Thank you for you work.

So I do not believe so, but I'm waiting for final confirmation.
Archeage unchained should be an entirely new game install accessible from Glyph, but until we have that for certain I don't want to go further with that.
Not sure of this made me want to play more or less.
Did feel more about spreadsheets and less about a fantasy sandbox world.

One man cities are a thing.
As far as spreadsheets, yeah this is always going to be a thing. People who take their crafting/production seriously are always going to be into that aspect of the game. Truthfully I know a lot of people who aren't and they just roll with stealing packs, opening coin-purses.
I think in a true sandbox game people are going to make of it what they make of it, and that's what makes it fun and exciting.

Do you know if the regular cottage 16x16 will have an upgrade to raised cottage in 6.0 unchained?
It should be. I don't know why they would remove that from 6.0 and AAU is on 6.0.
It is on my list of things to confirm, but I'm 99.9% sure it will stay the same.
Can you clarify what you mean by "stone is statically placed in the world on respawn"? Does this mean...its location is placed in the world when it's generated? Does it mean stone is tied to your player's respawn somehow? As in my stone nodes aren't the same nodes everyone else would see?
Hey Jay, went back over this video again and is there a resource to find out how many tax certs you need if you have a cottage and 16x16 and a 8x8 if i wanted to get a thatched house what would my high building tax be? Just wanna know so im not surprised or dont have enough certs when trying to grab it.
I actually do not have a current tax calculator.

Hey man thanks for all the 101 videos its been a huge help for me as i've never played Archeage ever. I do have a couple questions though if thats alright. 1 can 8x8 houses(land) be upgraded to 16x16 or are they two seperate things and 2nd are gathering nodes(trees,stones,etc) "instanced" to you or will you have to compete with everybody else for it. Also unrelated to the topic of this video but are there ways to customize your characters armor appearance ingame or is it just from the cash shop like bdo?
Yes. The 8x8 farm you get can be upgraded into the improved scarecrow farm (16x16). Then you get a basic 16x16 farm from the level 50 quest.
No, they are not instanced to you, they exist in the open world.
Yes, you can glamour/image armor. I currently have the BCA armor as my image except I have the rancher's hat. So that's possible, however, armor doesn't show through cosmetics, so its either your cosmetics or your armor, not a mix and match.

As a launcher ´player that quit the game years ago, could you tell me we still need to land rush to get 4 8x8 scarecrow?
Well you won't have 4 characters per account, and no you'll want to rush for your 16x16 if anything.
I remember when I played, there was a monthly or weekly tax associated with property ownership (unless you were a patron/subscribed?). Is that still present in AAU?
It was always weekly.
You could never own land unless you were a Patron.
Yes taxes are still there, but everyone on AAU is Patron.

Hey, at your video about obtaining a 16x16 you have, that for the trade pack you need wool(west) and bananas (east).
is that one still relevant?
at the start of AA:U, will there be any way to get wool? as trimming a sheep? you needed a combine feed for that, that was craftable in workstation "(AA wiki).. without placing of property that's a, no, no... even if no1 takes it from your illegal farm till it grows...
Combined feed is now available from the vendors.
I'd tell you which one but I can't log into the game right now because Authentication failed.
would it be bad to craft a second 16x16 using my 8x8 and place 2 16x16 before anything else?

You probably wouldn't have the materials to turn the 8x8 into a 16x16. If you did have the mats, you might have enough mats to actually build out a 16x16 cottage right off and then you'd' be able to hold a few more spots.
I really need to get on the PTS when 6.0 comes out to see what we can see.
Appreciate all your videos. Very helpful for returning players like me. I got a question I'm hoping you or someone with recent experience can answer. I moved to Asia(SG) and looking to come back for Unchained. However, the best server would be EU with am estimated ping of 170ish. With the higher than optimal ping, what classes/play styles would you recommend I look into? I do want to get into group and large scale pvp(no so much arenas), and open world PVPing, as well as PVE grind and group content. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Question number one is can you get a VPN? Some of them can drop you down a significant amount of ping?
If not, then something tanky and not archer. Plate mage because you'd have some sustainability.

Thank you so much, clear and understandable even for a non-English speaking guy like me ;) I agree with all the changes that would help the game be more equal to everyone because I believe it would greatly improve the life of it. That said, we both know that greed and the need for stacking will drive the player to own everything they can. Absolutely agree on 1 labor pool cross regions, ppl should put the effort in their main and achieve anything through it so to leave a chance to work and grow for everyone. I am really looking forward to Unchained, I loved Archeage when I played the first 2 years of its life but, left it because the difference between P2W and not was just too big.

Its a textbook of knowledge with videos placed in. I had hoped to have it more cleaned up, but I had other priorities over the summer, mainly being ill and getting way too much dental work.
I'm working on the new website, so if there are questions you have, ask away, I'll incorporate them into rewrite 3? 5? How many times have I rewritten my text guide.
How do you get 300 gilda in 5 days??
Also 1 single labor pool i prefer. Less alts. I like having one character being able to do everything i need.
Edit: so if you prepay taxes on your land whats the time limit? I can see why this is very annoying
ZZavage's guide is pretty good, pretty standard stuff. He drew information from 6.0 so it seems pretty solid. A lot of people were forgetting about achievements.
I had previously talked about Gilda Stars on www.paradoxgaming.net/currencies as well so there's that if people need it.
With the removal of PC and SM its going to be a little rougher. That's 6 a day you could have gotten, Also the Nui Priestess is 4.
The only question is going to be if Gilda Stars are somehow factored into the Unchained model.
I think 315 is going to be tight, but maybe doable. If we are allowed to have 1 second account, that will make a huge difference on if we can get a 300 plan and a 15 plan or not.
I felt like this video was geared more towards returning players that new players. I don't know the game but I thought this would talk about housing and land but I don't know what the topics were :(

Hi mate im thinking to give a try to Unchained but before to buy account i would want to know a few things because i left official at 3.5 and currently plying on Rage and im not familiar with non of the patches after 3.5 since the 4.0 on rage is a bit different to the old 4.0 on official server , so mi questions >
1 from what i understood Hiram gear can be achieved by mob farming ,but can it be competitive against crafted gear ?
2 when i had more time to spend on the game i used to be a trader with 230k trade, but after the cargo patch i lost interest in both the trade and the game in general so.. can i achieve top gear Hiram by farming mobs and doing daily quests ?

I will not be forming a guild. I have one last ride in me as a guild leader, and I've already said I'm going to lead a guild in Ashes of Creation.

Does the game make it clear as to the basic steps it takes to claim land and build a house/farm? If there is going to be a rush for land, where can I find the steps to take to make sure I can get my land promptly before launch? Is it on your site?

I was wondering about how big the gap will be between those who started before land rush and those after, since I am unfortunately on vacation from the 1st October till 17th. As someone who has always played on launch day I am a little worried. What's your opinion?
So, I always hate to be the bearer of bad news to people, but 12 days after land drop opens up, land will be full. If they stick with 2 servers that is just how its going to be.
Even with 4 servers I think land would be filled in 12 days.

I hope there Will be some solution preventing some one from having this much Land. Since i plan on having only 1 or 2 and probably ill struggle to squeze my tached somewhere since grinding 300 Gilda Will take me more than 5 days for sure.
With no cash shop, they are limited by labor. After that its off to the races.
Hey, if i want to place a house i need a house plan and some tax certs, right? but how does the tax system work?
Each piece of property will cost you a number of tax certificates each week. The more land you own, the higher rate of tax per property (after your 2nd).

Crafting at a property, which can only happen on Saturday.

Does anyone know if you sell a farm with crops or livestock already on it, what happens to those? Do they disappear, does the buyer get them?
If I recall correctly anything on the property when it is sold goes to the new owner.

if you buy Archeage Unchained do we still need a patron account to even still use the taxes we've already created to pay for housing? In legacy we needed it or we couldn't pay or even use the taxes with out patron to keep our houses alive. With this new version is it buy the game once, and earn taxes etc and pay housing or do you still need to be patron in this version of the game to even use the taxes to keep your house going? If it's like legacy then its not worth playing anymore if that is the case aka needing patron to even use taxes.
There is no patron in Unchained. Everyone has it.

I have a bunch of them coming out to help people get settled in. There are a ton of changes from the launch version until now. I'm having to dig into an old laptop to find all my original notes
I've created a character on FTP and messed around a bit. For my play style and my real life time constraints at the end of this month I know I'm not going to be able to get my Thatch right away. So now I have to figure out what the best alternative is given my time constraints. I know I probably won't get my absolute favorite spot but I've discovered in the past many great spots are still open after the day of land rush -- are they perfect? Of course not but perfection is overblown and boring:) Personally I would love to somehow have enough labor on only one character to just play them and have no alts, but usually I have tons of free time and never have enough labor for what I want to do.
That's another problem. Labor time-gates the game. You want to have a healthy population, but when I can log in at prime time reset raid time, do all my dailies in 90 mins to 2 hours, then I end up sitting with AA open on a side screen to catch GR/CR. Its a mess of a nightmare
I may just run 2-3 characters/accts high enough to get 2-3 small farms and then hope I can place them strategically enough to secure a larger spot and then take my time to get the house and replace it.
If you are going to do that, just get 2 15x15 farms on each account.
Hey Jay !!! PTS supposed to be a place where you can test new patches; why fluffy codes not working 24/7 , why aren't every character patron with unlimited credits and gold?? Last but not least why don't they wipe PTS and open it again when needed (whenever a big patch is approaching) ? I'm here for around 4 years and nothing has changed .

there are people who live on the PTS as their primary server. I do not understand why they allowed this to be a thing, but they allowed it to be a thing.

Wasn't 50 gilda stars the reward for hitting 50? or.. was it 50 for finishing the main quest line i cant remember.. but 300 sounds impossible.. i couldnt get that even with a merchant ship cause of pvp
maybe in original launch, all recent relaunches gilda comes early and often
So 53 I think is what you have when you finish the original story-line.

On legacy it is easy to get Gilda Stars, but since I don't think we will be killing GR/CR bosses until day 3 or 4, probably won't be killing a lot of the world bosses until day 3 or 4, won't have the stuff needed to do all the dailies, wont' have farmer's workstations, won't have disposable gold for the Community Center quests, I'm not sure how close to 300 we are going tget.

Housing is the same as it is now.
You don't do staging as much due to the freshness mechanic (I talk about this in the Trade video).

We are getting parts of the Korean labor system.
We don't get the buying labor pots out of the cash shop part, which is why this may or may not work.
Either way that is not going to stop people from having a land holding alt. It simply wont.

I cannot answer that question. I have not heard of region locks, but I am not a representative of Gamigo nor an Official Content creator so I have no inside information.

I'm really hoping I can secure a tiny patch of land off in a corner somewhere. Working my weird 24/7 12hr shift schedule I'm afraid is going to make it extremely difficult to beat the landrush if I'm attempting to start off with a Farmhouse and a small 8x8 design. Not sure I have a enough free time outside of work/sleep to land the amount of Gilda needed lol. Here's hoping. 300 Gilda is quite a hefty amount.
300 is a lot, and I'm not sure if its easily doable for someone who's not no-lifing it.
Looking at the number, I may do a 200 for the place holder and then casually earn 300.

I do agree one labor pool for Na/Eu. Anything to cut down on alts in unchained the 3 accounts gamigo has allowed is too many imo.
Truthfully I agree. They should have just said 1 account per person. Then you just lock it to one account per credit card user (which gets around the couples thing).
But then people have multiple credit cards...its a mess trying to limit people to 1 account.

That is something I'm going to have to sit down and figure out in the long term to be more successful.
There are a lot of things I wish I could do more quickly, but I can't use Wix for them. It took me a few hours how to figure out how to do something simple because I had to work around Wix's restrictions.
What I need is for all MMORPGs to go offline for 30 days. So I can sit down and learn.

I have to agree, they are going to have to change the weeks of paying taxes. This could potentially destroy this redo. We need to be able to cycle through the non-regular players with land. Having land all over the place just sitting there unused can run off players that are wanting land but can't acquire it. AKA one of the issues the original game had and ran off good people...
I am interested in seeing how they plan to combat this. Its going to be a long term concern that they can't just fix. If its not done right on day 1, it will blow up in their faces and I do not want to see that happen.

What about those of us who played Archeage for 2-3 years and stopped playing after some of the Trade Pack changes last year because it was just farmers on the server (reckoning) and then they did a server merge and we got pirates and trying to run packs, or find sunken ships was like murder. Nobody was running content anymore, nobody was willing to explain the new Hiram gear stuff or how to work to get it etc, and 99% of your guild quit and so ur left all alone. My dad and I just got Unchained today and well its still downloading multiple hours later, and How much different is this new version of the game from the one I used to rip my hair out to play? I'd like a tips and tricks for old players on what they can expect as changes for the new unchained version. Btw, I was subscribe to you a while back, used to watch all of your videos but it looks like UA-cam has unsubbed me, so I'm subscribing again. I have a channel too but I doubt you are interested in makeup and skincare, lol. I will also look you up on Twitch, I think I have you there too but better be safe than sorry.
Archeage unchained at its core is a different game, however, how its going to play out in the long run nobody can know.
99% of the P2W is gone and I don't think the remaining 1% is going to be that damaging. Its just little things.
I will continue to make content as I can to help people understand topics like the Hiram gear (which I have a video on, but it needs to be redone to make it more new player friendly)

@@Nyzdos So the best part about archeage is the ability to change classes. I run doombringer and Cleric, I know lots of Clerics, Templar can certainly heal but its like the lowest of the HPS healers but the highest of the survivability healers, Caretaker (Vita/Def/Song) is another good one.
You have your knowledge base under you, so you know about the things each class brings the table.
Run plate, heal, you'll be fine.

Unless something changes a 2-hander using Flame Ayanad Leather is going to bust you up for months. People are losing on average 1200 toughness since no hero gems are running around in surplus.

@@Astrothunderkat Abolisher BIS would really depend on how you were playing it. The Hiram gear is far tankier than the Erenor gear.
From the DPS side of Abolisher, yes you would produce more damage output with Erenor gear. Well, maybe I'd have to number crunch for that, but its so situational.
As long as you have a plan and you know what you are doing with it, you'll be fine.
Personally I think 300 gilda's in 5 days is not doable, but I have an alternative plan.
I think its doable, but its going to be RNG based on if you are able to get the world bosses on farm.
Man I wanted on labor pool and no Alts, slows the overall game progress and adds to the longevity of the game because the casuals or ppl who try to join later don't face the massive gear disparity.

It is doable to gain 300 gilda stars in 5 days. You get some from the main quest line, some from achievements, some from daily contracts etc. Also you can get like 20 every day from the community center dailies. Then again, this will all reguire a lot of time and gold. Most of the players wont be able to farm 300 gilda stars, simply because it would take 3 to 4 days for a normal player to even level the character to the max level. On the other hand, Archeage does have those hardcore players that can put the time and effort to farm those gilda stars. I think you once said: "dont underestimate the power of the students and unemplyed".
Also it would definitely be wise to have all servers on one "client". There is still the problem present, when NA updates before EU and if you update the game before EU has the update, your game doesnt recognize the patch and wont start. On the other hand if the servers are merged under the same client, it would mean that both EU and NA will be updated at the same time. This might then cause some downtime on either EU's or NA's "prime time" since we have different time zones.
So yeah you hit nail on the head.
On a Legacy server you can easily get 20 gilda stars a day because you have that gold. However, on Unchained 5 gold for 5 Gilda isn't a very good conversion especially since you are going to need gold for other things. And yes, I did say that once.
Never underestimate the power of students and the unemployed.
Luckily AA is launching on a Monday so the kids are in school and the retired (like me) will dominate the server.

Yeah with the gold from the archepass it was easy to pick up 29 a day.
Now that hte archpass is disabled its hard to tell how many you can sustain

Well we already know how its going to work for 6.0. Nothing with the Unchained brand changes that.
We do know that the difference is there are no buyable tax certificates from the cash shop, at least that is what we have been told by Khrolan.
The rest of the bits and pieces are like 99.9% confirmed and I doubt they will change the build that much in 22 days.
But, this is Archeage and stranger things have been known to happen.
