- The hype around Archeage Unchained is surreal. Five years ago the game launched in NA/EU and people are stoked for it. With the monetization changes I think we are going to see a huge influx of players returning to AA.
People who are new to Archeage or who are returning to Archeage have a wide range of questions from the build we will be on, to how land will work without Cash Shop tax certs, to how Patron will be gained, the best in slot gear for classes in 6.0, etc.
This is just the first round of answers. If you have a question ask away, I’ll get your question answered wherever you ask it, and then maybe bring it over to the next video.

I'm a returning player, i used to play alot when the old trading system was in place (think around patch 2.0) and lvl 50 was the cap, i'd love a "what to focus on when starting" video, something like: "focus on the main story quests only to lvl up fast/do all quests, what proficiencies are good for money making (back in the day fishing was really good), where to gear and how etc".. Dont know if you have something like that already but im super excited to play again and yet i feel scared and kinda lost because the game is really vast. Thanks for taking the time to read this and love your videos! (ps: i always wanted to get into sea treasure hunting but never knew how :P)

You have nailed it. What I'm doing with AAU 101 is aiming it towards returning players. There is enough content to be made that everyone making content can have their own slice of it. We have people previewing 6.0 which is great, that needs to be done, but I want to get everyone caught up to 5.5 who is coming back.
I've been reconsidering coming back but after playing the current servers I realized how they made the game even more of a daily grind and less of an open world incentive, at least at that late game stage.
That is a huge reason why I left earlier in the summer to go to FFXIV. If I'm going to play a themepark game, I want to play a good themepark game
I really wish you could talk more about where to get land. Such a sort answer.

I am 100% new, hadn't even heard of this game till this week (I don't tend to play pay to win games) and so all of this is new. I love that you shared that we can place the 8x8 and then pull it down! Would that be worth the resources though?

Any info about mounts and ships movespeed? Will they keep the restricted movespeed or will they give the black pearl and the other high level mounts their intended increased speed?
No info on that. Not really what we are expecting to see changed in this path, however with the Creation of the Naval arena, someone has been looking at water stuff.

- just a few clues (on the current build, you get the taxes you need and basic farming land) doing those Bluesalt quest + in there last stream Khrolan said you could buy the taxe ,with the new currency tokens

-transformation: is good for low lvl… but at later/higher lvl, the transformation don't scale with anything... (correct me if im wrong)
Yes tax certs may be in the Diligence shop, but until I know where they are, what level, how much the cost, etc, I don't want to say that people will have access to them.

Will it be on Glyph or a standalone client for Unchained?
It will stay on Glyph as its own game version.
If it is its own game version, I don't know why you'd need another account.

Very excited hearing about gearing up.
Is that possible to provide additional most recent trading related information (packs system)? It could be very useful for returning players, who haven't played the game after 2.9, 3, 4,5... Links to other resources/videos could be good enough of course.
One more thing, where can I find information about weapons difference, like a dagger, sword, axe, etc... ? What are the differences between weapons these days? (like in 2.9 a short spear could give you 10k defense penetration and an axe was giving a bleeding effect)
Trade System is something people are looking for and I will work on getting something on the trade system put together as soon as I can.
As far as the weapons, no those hidden passives are gone
Slashing = dagger, katana, nodachi effectiveness 15% more dps on leather
Piercing = sword, greatsword, short spear, long spear 15% more dmg on plate
Crushing = Axe, Great Axe, Club, Scepter 20% more dmg on plate
Is what replaced them.
Also, for sure need a video on public farms please!

I had fun leveling from 1 to 45 on Legacy, but knowing that 6.0 is doing this cool gear stuff, makes want to play that instead. I hope we get the Western beta for that soon. I'll level another character for sure.

No. No beta. 6.0 will go on the PTS, but not the Unchained version (at lest I don't believe the unchained version)

Played Archeage at launch and at one of the fresh starts. This weekend I downloaded the game and started playing again mainly to get answers for myself on the trade system since it is really different. Haven't made it very far with levels (no point in burning out now just to do it again in a month). My main question for now - is the Guilda store being changed at all? Is it a safe bet to plan on buying a Thatch Cottage with Guildas? I really really love the 5 days between launch and land grab as that was the worst part of the original launch and original fresh start. Though hey being able to brag that in so many hours you managed to put down Thatch and farm was great creds with everyone I knew playing the game
I can't answer the Gilda Store question because I just don't know how its going to look like on Unchained.
About the Alts/Multi character boxing. All they would really have to do is include memory scanning in the TOS then randomly scan your memory for processes. This is exactly what Battleye does. If they find more then 1 Archeage process . Boom your banned. If the scan gets blocked you get booted from the game. In Battleye's case they look for cheat tool processes. This would still allow for people with multiple PC to Multi box but thats not realistic for most people. It will also let no one get accidentally ban from real other accounts on the same IP.
Your solution would fix about 80% of the issues.
The problem is that the 20% would still be a problem and then that 20% would be able to get even further ahead.
For example I could run 5 accounts at one time with 5 extra machines I have laying around and using synergy and a KVM switch. So if you stop multi-boxing how do you then prevent people with extra hardware from doing it and getting an advantage.
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork I'm sure it's far less then 1 in 5 people that can manage to have 5 extra machines around. I run a PC repair business and I have 2 at any given time that could run Archeage. I could probably have way more but I'm not a hoarder. I sell stuff I don't need. I can't even imagine running 5 rigs at the same time in my shop. I certainly could but the heat output would be tremendous. I think it would be more then enough to cure the problem of a few people owning all the land and selling it at crazy high rates.
The majority of my gamer friends have at least their current PC, their old/spare back up machine, and a laptop that can run Archeage well enough to log in on the side and do land management. I mean we are talking about a 6 year old game. I was running a second computer with it and it was probably a machine I built in 2006. I"m sure you could cobble together something right now from the spare parts you have just sitting around.
Sure, not everyone is going to do it, but enough people are. There are people who ran 40-80 accounts in Archeage to get ahead. 80 accounts. Daily. Rotated through to stack prestige, honor etc.
There is no limit to the length some people will go.
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork yeah it would be hard to block people any other way. People don't always have static IP's. If you MAC block people would just buy cheap routers. Your right they need to remove the incentive to have alts. It needs to be done cause Alts massively inflate the economy to a point where if you don't have them you can't play. It's basically like having a gold dupe glitch. Instead of 1x30 gold trade pack run you now have a 30x30 gold trade pack run

I have a huge question I assume tax certs are bound? not on marketplace and not allowed onto ah thus not sellable?
They are bound until you have construction 230,000 and can make the unbound ones.
Firstly thank you for all of these amazing 101 videos (both 2019 and Unchained), as a returning player that remembers practically nothing.. these videos have been invaluable in trying to get back up to speed prior to launch!
When mention you "do not like what they have done with Archeage healing", and thus will not be maining a healer this time around, could you give a rough explanation on that? What were the major pain points that lead to your decision to abandon the cause? :P
I almost always play healer/support in online games. However, I have been tossing around the idea of maining another path for Archeage Unchained. So, any thoughts you could spare would be greatly appreciated!.

Even though they are saying there will be enough room for everyone to have land, I'm a little iffy feeling on that, so my highest concern is if I'll be able to get at least 1 house and farm plot, even if its just a small one. So i guess I actually have two questions.
1) is there like a strategy to use to make sure you can secure that land? I imagine just place your 8x8 in a really inconvenient spot that happens to take enough space for 2 16x16s, of course that is if someone doesn't place an 8x8 in that area kinda screwing you both over which will most likely happen now that i think about it.
2) I'm slightly confused on how the 5th is going to work, the way I'm processing the information is from start to the 5th we gather materials to actually build the plots and on the 5th everyone kinda just mad dashes to slap down 8x8s in the areas they want in hopes they can secure at least two 16x16s?

I haven't played since the early days of original launch and I just can't remember what is and isn't possible and even with going for a none-prime area i'd still like to up my odds as much as I can.
Will they allow any cosmetics from your existing account to be applied to the new account? So much stuff took me so long to aquire that i hate to see just go dormant on characters i wont be playing anymore.

It is a new version of the game, so everything you earned on Legacy stays on Legacy.

Its on the 64 bit client, that's the only change I know of.
Is there a way to add more character slots pls? Two slots per server is too few. I cant find it at Marketplace.

During my time playing earlier archeage I loved doing trade runs with my merchant ship. With this new system where the packs deteriorate, will merchant ships still be a viable option? Or will it be more profitable to run packs via land routes?

This might not be a question. But i really hope stuff like "Rampage Chroma" And others, will be somehow available in game for a grind, or crafting. I took me a lot time to get my on Legacy server :P
They should be as they are recipes, which might making machining a good path to go down.

no bonus or anything you have to buy the current packs or the base game since it's a whole different game
Nope your pack and your bonus on subsequent Fresh Start servers was for Archeage. This is for Archeage Unchained, which is a whole new game.
Don't bother with the expensive packs just go for the cheapest one.

Grats for the amazing job you are doing, I am a returning player (started from first day and left the patch after library...) I have a quick question, following the hype I logged back as a new character to see if I could get a grip back to all I missed... impossible hahaha :( so I might actually ask you many things. I have started anyway and got to LVL 41, and my problem is that I am following the blue salt chain, I got the small plot, and I was now doing the quest that I discovered would have let me to a farm cart. Although I am stuck on the "try your new ride quest" and don't know if I am doing anything wrong, if it Works as intended? How do I proceed on the chain to get the 16×16 scarecrow? How do i actually get the factory?

No, the 16x16 quest gives you tax certs as well.
So, I’m on the fence about jumping into AA with unchained. Do you plan on doing a grading video for the potential p2w elements?
I'd suggest watching the Gamigo stream to get a sense of what they're planning. Also every Friday they will be doing live streams. i suspect you'll know if definitive p2w is introduced by the level of rage within the community. So far they are following a non p2w model but there are a couple issues people are keeping their eye on, such as alts and labor pots earned via diligent points.
I already did this on the livestream recap video that I did on Friday.
I will be doing a video after each livestream to keep people updated and make sure all their ducks are lining up.

If they catch you with more than 3 accounts they will take action against your account.
Hello Jahlon :) here's Mythryl from EU Server, I have a really good question related to the Founder Packs, as you already seen, the last Founder Pack (Archeum), Has the ArchePass Upgrade Token is this token be used only one time in a seasonal upgrade or it will be used "4ever" for all the next seasonal upgrades?

What will be the fastest/best way to level on Unchained? Solo or Party? Whats a good consistent party size/what builds to use? I have 3 friends who might play with me we were wondering what builds should we all go but we didn't play AA before, only other MMOS. Also do you have any more info on public farms and how to use them? We want/need to farm some gold before lands go live so we can have some nice houses :) Thanks for the video!!
I'm hearing that public farms were removed, I need to look into that.
If you have 3 friends, then you have Tank + Healer + Bard + DPS all bundled up for you. Find a 5th and you have your own party.
Id say a cleric or 'songbot' (basically someone there to do nothing but play songs) plus 3 dpsers with one of them in plate (probably your melee guy) after youre done leveling then you can decide on what you want to do.
At the end of the day its honestly your choice on how you play though its highly recommended to play the 'meta' builds that are proven to work if you want an enjoyable experience that wont leave you with regrets on your build path.
chris marlowe Hey would you be so kind as to point me inthe right direction for meta builds, and include a plate and a songbot one? I wouldnt mind playing bard for my friends if it means better leveling but Im also pretty sure Ill be the one that plays solo the most, can they do solo stuff early on?
Also do you know if there are any builds using the new skillset out there? I heard theyll be pretty meta.
One more thing that I just cant seem to find anywhere else, when should me and my friends party up (we will all be playing at the launch). I heard main storyline stops at level 30 so should we all do our solo stuff up to lvl 30 and then party up? Can (or better yet, should we) we party up for main storyline straight from the get go?

Swiftblade will normally be a dual wield class but you can have a magic resistance shield swap for casters, but id personally recommend spellsinger or spellsong

Hi, do you think its worth to farm gha early to get the scepter(lets assume 10 runs to get the scepter) and cut my costs of farming auroria by removing mana potions? Also was there any change to dungeons?
Another question of mine is about pvp among greens i left archeage on obsidian patch (back then with 5k GS i was one of the cool kids) so my question is can everyone kill everyone as they please with little to none punishment or were there some changes to that????
You mean Monsterous Desire? It was nerfed a while back.
Dungeons haven't changed much since Obsidian Patch.
Since that time they have upped the penalty for flagging on your own faction. Now 1 kill and you are wanted (was 5 before).
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork So still not worth to go fishing no fresh start i will get banged anyway :P But i have one more question for you and that is weapon specyfic bonusses i saw many archers running scepter in main hand others running katana(everyone does dagger off hand) do i get the bonusses stated on aa wiki like increased crit chance with katana and extra attack speed from dagger? And if i do do these apply to ranged weapon or only to damage i deal with my mele weapon?
Hidden passives are gone, so no there is no attack speed bonus from the off hand wielding of a dagger.
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork Hidden passives are gone but it's worth keeping in mind that attack speed now also effects the damage scaling of a weapon. So a dagger for example attacks the fastest, but deals less damage, whereas an axe attacks slower but scales the damage higher. I'm not sure how this applies to archers and healers, but that's how it affects melee.
Also I'm fairly sure offhand weapons are still just for stats, unless you're playing the new Swiftblade class. As that class has abilities that will deal damage based on your offhand, which is a first for ArcheAge.

What's your opinion on plate/staff setup?
It should still continue to be the meta, unless something else is changing we don't know about.

I am going to make as much content as I can make from now until launch. My content just takes me time because I have to research it properly. What I'm going to do is probably just make short videos on 1 topic so I can put out more content to the people who need it.

Btw what do you think of ''Cleanage'' class (Battlerage/Swiftblade/Auramancy) I found it pretty fun to play lots of mobility + high dmg
So here's the thing, doing one video on everything from 5.5 to 6.0 would be like 3 hours long.
Totally new players need to know everything.
Old players need me to catch them up from wherever they left (and they all left at different times) to now.
Current players need me to tell them how Unchained is going to be different from their current server.
And I need to figure out how to do all that in a video that's about 10-20 mins long or it doesn't perform well.

What exactly do you dislike about AA Healers now?
I dislike any system that lowers my personal healing received by my own spells by 30% but still allows me to heal other people at full strength.
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork Yeah. Inconsistent and crappy way to handle things. Might as well just nerf healing in general by 30%, if it's a problem.

I am not running a guild for NA this time around. I don't have time to run a guild, and be a small content creator coach, and be a Content Creator, and a husband, and a father,
So something had to be sacrificed, so guild leader got nixed.
I haven't played for about 2 years so I have no idea what all has taken place since then, planning on coming back for Unchained. I had a Primeval main, also had a Darkrunner (?), how are they doing currently? When will we be able to get in for the naming/character creation for those that bought a pre-order pack?

@@ParadoxGamingNetwork Much of the reason why people are running around in plate currently is because Hiram plate is pretty overpowered, but it's getting toned down in 6.0. Losing physical defense for a little bit of magic defense in return.
A 10% loss of physical defense for a 10% gain in magic defense isn't going to fix the problem.
I mean Kia has over 45,000 physical defense. He's maxed the curve. Taking 10% off that is nothing, although I'm sure he is happy for the 10% Magic Defense.
It is a step in the right direction.

really interested to see how this works out; I love AA but the p2w whales made it almost impossible to enjoy content. There's a private server for AA that has attempted something similar to try to make things equal with permanent patron/extra labor gold however people were still able to gain thousands of points of gs in a matter of days and now that server is dead as well. Crossing my fingers for this release :(
So the good thing is with Hiram gear EVERYONE will gain thousands of gear score quickly.

@Jahlon Did\Does Archage have an alt problem, and was\is it something akin to Eve Online? For a game that has your characters train in realtime, I get why people have toons for different task, but seeing people multibox 2-10 toons always killed my immersion for an MMO.
Yes it was a huge alt problem.
Basically a lot of it was for holding land, paying taxes, spreading taxes out on a number of accounts.
But with a fixed labor rate of 2,880 a day without augments to that, you were time limited.

Could you explain us about the game’s META?
Exemple: when I stopped playing, the meta was the mageball (ofc I’m talking about pvp). We had Skullknights as main initiators, Revenants used to be like skullknights, but more damage and less tanky/cc, DR and Spellsingers to assassinate the backline and Clerics for songs, Templars for heals.
Ofc this is just to back my question.
Nowadays things are a bit different and I don’t understand the reason.
I don’t see Skullknights around. I hardly ever see Revenants around. Healers now use shadowplay. There is the new malediction tree. Everybody wears plate.
So again: How is the meta? Is it even worth playing Skullknights or should I just go Fanatic? Should I go plate like everybody else?
PS: I am aware the things might / will change, after all there’ll even be a new tree for melee. But based on the current META, could you provide some answers?

Question is not about gear. None of us played Archeage and we got kinds screwed on the PVE side with black desert. It was too Grindy and not satisfying since it had no dungeons.

Q: Will there be any changes to the Crime Point system?
Context: This applies mostly to my guild since we generally are 'green' pirates.
In the 3.0 and 3.5 builds we had a fantastic time playing the game, some of the best for my own personal experience.
I want the boys to have fun like we used to, but I hear the current system since 3.5 has made it difficult to do crime without severely restrictive penalties.

They want to change it, but for the moment that is the crime system we have.
You also don't go pirate at 3k infamy anymore, so your infamy and crime points add up and can really put a damper on your play time.

Ok so here's the thing. You mention gold. So there have been a ton of changes since you played.

Now, this video is out of date, but you need to understand what happened with this so you know what happened from when you quit > first change > second change. If I try to explain the second change to you since you have base knowledge you are going to be like

Will there be enough housing space for the players in Archeage Unchained ?

Everyone who is able to play for those first five days and able to log in on Saturday should be some amount of land.

Its not that simple since housing in Archeage isn't instanced and there is an inherent value to land.
I have provide an example on a number of occasions for how they could provide for instanced housing that doesn't disrupt the delicate balance of the economy, but I'm not a game developer so they have a plan and hopefully it works.
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork But they 'could', in theory, add an instanced and layered Island somewhere, possibly accessible through the Blue Salt Beach paradise (I forgot the name). It should only have small plots though, so people still want bigger houses on the overworld.
@@CazaliEiben So here's the thing. Several times during my streams I've talked about the solution to the housing problem.
A long time ago in a land far away there were spots on the map where you could put a 16x16 and only a 16x16. If you had a spot there, you couldn't have land anywhere else, and if you had land anywhere else you couldn't have land there.
That essentially is the answer in an instanced zone. All you have to do is put a portal in the dead center of the zone, and then just create basically what FFXIV has. Create plots that are like 44x88. This would let you drop in 2 of the largest buildings (Mansions, Beanstalks) and then that's it. That's your housing.
If you have land inside the instance, you cannot have land outside the instance. Then you don't need to worry about people holding vast tracts of land.
I have a genuine concern people will block off all the land just to troll and not really play. They already do it on live servers so I have no idea why people think it won't happen on Unchained.

Well here's an interesting question back to you: Does it take 15 mins to make a 15 minute video on UA-cam?
The answer is: No.
It can take a day or more to research and create the slide deck for one topic. I do my best to ensure every video I present is as accurate as possible. Occasionally I get it wrong, usually when I'm rushing. Over my time as an Archeage Creator I've learned that its better to take the extra time to get it right, then get it wrong and have to take down and throw out a video.
Plus that day or more is just 1 topic and an easy topic at that.
On the topic of the old trade system, it matters which "Old" we are taking about. Are we talking about the launch system? Are we talking about the first cargo system? Or the current.
I already have a video on the first cargo system, so if someone really really wants to know how the old system (cross ocean or cargo) worked, there is a resource for it for them to learn. However, in the rack and stack of priorities its low priority.
It would be the same as doing an instructional video on how to do something in Windows 3.1. Sure, there is probably somewhere on the planet still using it on a stand alone machine, but not very likely.
You are correct. 27 (now 25) days is a long time, but 2 days have gone by since then, I've done a stream, I've worked on some of the other projects I have going on, I've done a stream recap video, and now I'm working on the next Q&A video.
Even if the only thing I did was make Archeage content full time, I might not even have time to cover everything.

Yeah there used to be another zone of shared gardens, those were turned into housing a long while back. The public farms would provide maybe 2 or 3 plots.
Funny thing is many people dig deep into minor details of AA:U, but nobody is interested in principal question, HOW MANY char slots available in game account :)

What happened to healers that ruined it?
They put in a -30% Self heal nerf. To me, that is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist and a non-solution to the problem that does exist.
Archeage was like catching lighting in a bottle and then smashing the bottle and shitting on it.. Wish I could say unchained will be like it was back in the day but I dont think so. I just think they had something really special and ruined it pretty early on. Regardless I will be giving it a chance and i really do hope its great.
What ruined AA early on was the P2W RNG gearing upgrading. This should fix some of it.

You say that the levelling speed between classes will be normalised but another UA-cam channel is saying that all classes will now level faster to 30 instead of none. Which one is it?
All other races will level on pace with current Dwarf and Warborn. Everyone will have the "faster" leveling.

My big question is - why should we trust any of this? It’s still just Trion rebadged fronting for XL and that’s not a combination that has earned anything other than deep distrust. I really want to believe because prior to 1.2 AA was fantastic. But with multiple accounts and labour still being things and no alpha or beta servers, I’m deeply dubious.
You don't. You go in expecting to get a week or two playtime and leave. If they do a good job and you enjoy it then congrats you can stay but for me the base price is enough to experience those first few weeks of a new archeage server
I would say MOST people share your concerns and much like you i remain VERY skeptical. However, for $26 i feel the risk is worth it. If i can get 3-6 months of fun for that price, then i win! Hell, i spent more on pizza last night and that shit is gone! Lower your expectations and if the $26 is doable, then go for it and enjoy whatever amount of time we are given.
