Ford Maverick Dealer Bait & Switch - My horrible experience

- This is totally my experience trying to land a Ford Maverick hybrid. I've learned allot but wanted to share what my experience looked like, especially when it was going to be my first NEW car purchase from Ford. Have you had similar experiences with the Maverick? Let me know in the comments!

Contact Ford Corporate, Ford already asked their dealers to stop doing that.
I did.
I've had to contact Ford Corporate to report several Ford dealerships for these bad business practices. They were clear that they are not happy how the dealerships are treating potential first time Ford customers and pushing them away from the brand all together.
That is why I still buying from a Nissan dealership. They deal with people fairly. They Ford dealership likes to bait and switch, and lie to sell cars.
They're still doing it. Corwin Ford in Reno. They wanted $7,500 over in March of 2023. I got them to come down a little. I did call Ford Customer Service.
We only sell at MSRP, even through all this, at our dealership. Our lot is all but empty - a single Edge remaining in the new section - while some other dealerships have inventory. They're charging $5,000+ over MSRP on everything on the lot... I just hope customers remember this stuff whenever this is all over.
Unfortunatly, most won't remember. When the time come, they'll shop around and buy from whatever store have the car they want and charge the less money.
The right call would be just selling only at MSRP, be it in the good times or in the hard times. No overprice, no discounts, only manufacturer rebates/bonuses, if any.
All of your BS is not the customers fault. Be honest up front. Dealers are becoming enemies of the people. Congratulations.
@@gibsonj5035 If that's what you took away from my post, you should take it up with your English teachers.
@@AntiMacro My english is adequate. I'm sure there is more than enough blame to go around.
They won't, i recall the auto industry being bailed put a few years back.
Look at them now. Greedy bastards!
I have never owned a truck nor a Ford but the Maverick is something I absolutely would buy and am planning to order in August but the more I hear about things like this the more I am reconsidering dealing with Ford and their dealers. Such poor customer service 🙄
Dealership model needs to end, we need direct-from-manufacturer purchasing cutting out the massive overhead of the middle man that adds no value, and pass the savings on to the consumer.
For a dumb duck, that is a brilliant idea !!! LOL
Amen. It's our elected officials that passed the law that we had to buy vehicles through dealers. I think people are wising up to our corrupt government.
Ford is kind of cutting out the dealers already with the: Bronco, Bronco Sport, Mav, Lightning. You wont see them on the lot for sale in any volume for the next couple years.
Dealerships will do the same as ALL other American business do. They will lay off half of the workers and then pile all the work on the remaining people while telling them how "lucky" they are to have a job !! Half the workers will then have to pick up the slack. The CEO's will double their pay and complain about being under payed. Same old BS that I went through for 40 years of work.
just so the dealership can directly screw you
This is why I treat all car salesmen like shit, and very unapologetic about it.
I ordered a XLT last June from Hall Ford in Elizabeth City, NC. The sales manager was informative and honest. Received truck January. I placed zero dollars down at time of order. Also received VIN at time of order so I could track progress of build. This sales manager was the best. I also was given price at time of order. And thats what I paid. So I recommend this dealership.
Hey thanks! I’ll reach out to them!
That's good you stood your ground, I always tell them If you were buying it wouldn't you try to get the best price and best rate ? But 1 thing for sure you will learn from this experience and be able to help others in the future 👍
Tim has stated that dealer stock ones will be marked up. I don't think it was 7500 on an XL though. I was under impression that it was perhaps 5k on XLT and 7.5K on Lariats or such. Do you have any proofs in texts that they would sell at MSRP? I'm 60 miles from Long McArthur but decided to order Maverick through local dealer at MSRP. My son ordered one from another local dealer at MSRP. Mine is scheduled to be built April 11 and I ordered on July 13. It's been a long wait. They should have never told it MSRP. I would possible get Tim involved and have him question the salesman or manager who told you this.
The Maverick was announced in June…not well over a year ago.
You were taking someone’s cancelled order. Tim Bartz has said they do add prices to cancelled orders. No one should have promised MSRP.
“Super super patient.”
“”8 weeks.”
“Daily texts for a month and a half”
Signed contacts are the way to go. It is definitely on the consumer to ask for this.
Ford customer service won’t do anything.
I get it, You are frustrated. I worked with my first dealer that I ordered from for 4 months (June-Oct). That dealer marked up my deal $1,500 and refused x plan before it even came in. My second order for 6 months (June-Dec) came in as the wrong truck that a coworker of my salesman just happened to want.
Now I’ve been waiting since October for another Hybrid order. I’ve called 1 time since my order and we are going on 5 months. I still haven’t received a build date. Ford has scheduled builds through April already so the earliest I will see the truck is May/June or 8-9 months from order (1 year from original order).
absolutely on the purchase (signed) contract - I'd had a reservation for a Maverick too - the dealer told me that (shortly after I had reserved one) I really should have a purchase contract in place or you would risk it being sold at well above MSRP - I appreciated his honesty - I ended up with a Santa Cruz that I'd ordered and paid 1000 under MSRP....
Mine just planed up changed the most sticker on the vehicle to cheat me out of things, he was asking me to pay...
Imagine a sales trick, they will pull it on you.
It’s complete BS. Dealerships are really screwing over customers. I fought my local dealership and was able to place a reserve at MSRP and have it in writing from my dealer. But I know they may still try to screw me over when it comes in. I hope Ford actually does come down on these dealers
What even worst is dealerships are also screwing over manufacturer's! Basically they're turning away would be buyers and turning off future interest. Soon places like Rivian & Tesla will win the car market through simple attrition!
I am a loyal Ford customer and was so excited about the Maverick. I kept thinking of all the people I knew who would be won over by this cool economical pickup. People who I know drive Honda's and other brands. But since then these dealers have been so terrible and marked them up like crazy to the point I don't even want anything to do with Ford. Let alone anyone I know.
I have bought many new vehicles from dealerships over 25+ years and it is not something I look forward to. I can't say that my experiences were bad but they sure were stressful and not fun.
Next time order it. I just ordered the maverick a few months ago and it was stress free
A word of advice. Don't try to be a diplomat or a goodwill ambassador when dealing with a car salesmen. Show up for a knife fight, be the one in control from the moment you walk in, don't answer questions about what payment you can afford or how good your credit is. They are trying to find out how much they can take you for. You ask the questions, you want to know the the price, bottom line and that's it and as soon as they start to fuck around, you walk. Plain and simple.
I never thought about the financing issue but that make s a lot of sense. That said, another problem with such a ridiculous mark up is your insurance coverage, in the case of a crash resulting a total loss of the vehicle they are only going to pay what the vehicle is worth, not what you paid for it.
Exactly my thoughts too, not worth it. Short term gain for our long term loss tbo.
These Mavericks are worth more than you paid for it..
I remember when the PT cruiser came out years ago. It too was a hot item at the dealers and I looked into buying one. The dealers put a massive mark up on the cars. So if I’m paying more, what else can I get for that money? I ended up going next door and bought a brand new Chevy Avalanche for a lot less than MRSP. Kinda glad that I did, it was a much better vehicle.
Insist on a written signed document from any dealer up front, if they won’t find one that will.
I made my order on a xlt 2.0 ecoboost before the price increase so I saved a ton of money. I'm excited to get mine.
Excited for you!
Wow I can't believe that price. That is the MSRP of my ordered AWD XLT with luxury 360 and FX4 packages.
Yup... I'm probably waiting for the Lightning/Silverado EV's now, get a cheap truck somewhere for the meantime.
Do have yours yet? I ordered mine in the beginning of December and haven’t heard a word from ford.
@@huflungpu4456 Mine is actually being built this week so no I have not yet taken ownership of my Maverick but I have my window sticker.
I just paid $41,000.00 for an XLT supposedly down from $44,590.00 is it supply and demand or price gauging by Ford.
I'll never buy another car from a dealership again. Too many other options to buy good quality cars right online. This is really shitty and near-sighted behavior from this dealership.
Dealer refused to sell me my hybrid unless I paid $38k for a $25k truck. Placed the order last year in september. They say no one got a hybrid at MSRP. Only the guy in Hawaii that designed the Maverick got it as MSRP. So I will wait for the other brands to release their mini hybrids trucks.
If it's not in writing then you don't have a leg to stand on "LEGALLY". However, I do feel for you if it went down as you said. I waited 8 months till I finally received my 1st Edit Mav (MSRP) and I'm telling you I Love it. I'm on the original tank from the dealer (8 days ago) with just over 1/2 tank left and 330 mi "Estimated Distance to empty" with 286 mi driven so far. Maybe looking at 600+ per tank!
Yeah wish I would've kept my original order, was early on too... but the Lightning was posted but realistically 'pro' versions will probably be sold out for years. I really don't need a larger truck, but the Mav was a stop gap between now and when all vehicles are EV's... so I may hit the Aug reservation list.
Dude I feel and hear your pain. I've watched and waited and hunted this damn trucklet since end of 2021. Between ADMs of $5-10K, trucks listed as "for sale" that weren't even on lot / were customer orders / or trying to actually ORDER one from Ford website and wait 6-12 months / and the list of BS goes on and on........Number 1 issue is the ADM. I looked at this vehicle from the perspective of "cool looking and good MPG with a reasonable amount of options if I wanna go that route" and end up with a cool trucklet that I would enjoy. Well - two full years later - I was still getting the runaround. I just bought a 2023 Mav with Tremor and XLT Lux package USED with 1,579 miles on it. A LOT of searching. Still paid $1,000 over what MSRP was, but it's sitting in MY DRIVEWAY. Did NOT pay $5-10k over MSRP for new that may or may not be delivered. These are indeed stupid crazy times. I - like youself - am not exactly happy with this fiasco, but I will say this - it's definitely worth pursuing. It was worth all my hours of scouring the net. And the unfortunate fact is - dealers KNOW what a hot commodity it is. And are gouging every step ofthe way. I really thinkj it's worth over what MSRP is, and I paid accordingly. But NOT $5-10 k over MSRP
Ordered my Mav oct 2021, still no email.
I had a similar experience. The dealer took my deposit. Six weeks later they said my car was in so come in and pick it up. I was half way there when they called me and said the vehicle was already sold to a leasing company. Car dealers are so crooked.
Report them to Ford corporate. Hopefully Ford will lower this dealers allocation based on recent Ford memos regarding dealer price gouging in the form of this type of “market adjustment.”
When I talked to Ford I did file a complaint. But that is all I could do.
Sadly that will make the dealership more desperate for $
Tim Bartz from long McArthur Ford has said on many, many videos that if you order through them, you get MSRP. If someone that ordered cancels, and you want to buy their order that comes in, IT WILL BE MARKED UP. He has been saying this for months. They do this to try and prevent people from buying and flipping because the market is such that you can sell them for $10-$15k over MSRP and people are willing to pay that amount.
Eh so apparently between all the vids I watched in the past, I didn't hear that. But your not the only person who has said as much so I just missed the memo. BUT also I was told on the original call when I put (or thought I put a deposit down).
They arn't doing it to prevent people from flipping, they are doing it b/c the market is horrible and they CAN do it. It's just about the bottom dollar. It is what it is.
That being said I have no hard feelings toward Tim or that dealer, but it was shady what they did, imho.
On the last Tuesday LM UA-cam Livestream, Tim did mention that many are ordering two Mavericks, one to flip and one to keep. I am doing exactly that so I resemble that remark. Tim seems to not have a problem with that.
That's crazy they did that. I live in the Maryland area, and I got pre-approved for a $36k for a new vehicle. All I wanted was the Maverick and with that pre-approval , it would easily cover the Maverick in any trim including taxes and title. Unfortunately Mavericks are going for $42k and up in my area and it's mind boggling. I ended up canceling my loan because every dealership I called and visited (over 9 dealerships) were charging $12-$16k over MSRP. Just order your 2023 Maverick through your dealership and make sure "they" sign your order document not just you to guarantee the actual price you are quoted online.
Same region, same issue. It's gross.
Can you expand on them signing an order document. I’m 19 never bought a car before and want to get it correctly!
I wanted to buy a 2019 f-150 XLT with 301A package from that same dealer a year ago. It was listed on line for 37k. I went there and was told they didn't have it yet, it was a Canadian truck and was sitting in customs but they would call me when it was delivered. 2 months later I saw online it was in and now the price was 44k. Since it only had 18k miles I decided to go look at it. When I got there I didn't see it so I asked the same salesperson about it, he said it was in the shop because the alarm kept going off. I had him get the oasis report , the truck had been in the shop 6 times in 2 years. I asked why the price went up, he said the market price went up and they wouldn't come down any.
I went to Rusty Eck Ford and got a 2018 with 302A package and 72k miles and only been in the shop for maintenance for 28k.
I ordered a 22, rolled to a 23, in Jan 24, got tired of waiting called Ford to check on my order they said due to how long it has been, I had cash offers/rebates of 2500.00, and 2250.00. I got online searched the internet for avaliable Mavericks. I found 2, 2024's within 60 miles. Called and confirmed they had them, asked if they would use the rebates on them. One dealership said they could/would only use one, the other said they would. I made the purchase at MSRP, and they sold me the extended wrty at cost. I feel lucky after hearing this horror story.
I recently walked into a Ford dealership and bought a 2024 LT Maverick with some additions (trailer package, bed liner, etc...) for $29K that someone else had ordered but backed out of the deal (no info on why that happened). I told them I might finance i or I might put $10k down but on the day of the pick up I paid 100% with a certified bank check. Where I ran into an issue s with the extended warrantee. The dealership is trying to charge me more for it than shows on the Ford website.
I get my ordered Maverick next week. My deal ship told me they would honor MSRP .. but i guess we will see then
Good luck man!
They're not going to be able to give you the financing info months in advance. They check which bank loans are available on the day you pick the vehicle up, and APR will vary from bank to bank, day to day. Your credit rating also plays a role in the APR you'll get.
i went to a ford dealership near me, in Illinois and the salesman told me ALL vehicles were an extra $1500 on top of MSRP because of "market adjustment"
In Phoenix, Arizona, I've yet to see a Maverick be listed for less than $10k over MSRP except for a single base XL w/ecoboost option that was at a dealer for a few weeks, called about it and they said it was long gone. Still had a $1,500 adjustment on it, and that was the "internet price", so you can bet it was MSRP + $2-3k on the window sticker. Thing is, for a lot of businesses that do a lot of in-town errand running, the 40+ MPG of the hybrid is going to save you literally 10's of thousands of dollars, so who cares if you pay an extra $140 a month in the mean time.
Imagine a pest control company that switched from 25mpg Toyota Tacoma's to 45 MPG Mavericks. An almost 50% reduction in fuel consumption at a time when even a little 4 banger truck takes $75 to fill up. That's huge!
FYI - Sheehy Ford in Springfield, VA has some and do not have them showing any markup. They’re a good group and have my order in with them.
Hey! Yeah those were ecoboost versions. I looked al over haha
My dealer said ford mo co said they were not to sell any at msrp. I bought a gm at 3,500 under msrp.
Most dealers have always been pricks but way more so since the pandemic I am going to enjoy watching them all go out of business
What percentage rate were they going to charge you on financing?
I didn't even get that far.
Yeah, I ordered a 2023 Ford tremor to the dealer and I made sure I had all the paperwork stating the final price so that when it came in this kind of thing would not happen
I’m worried abt this situation as well. My dealer states there will be no markup when I receive it. U only waited 8 weeks- imagine those waiting 8 months!
What happened? I'm picking mine up tomorrow
People need to start reporting these dealers to ford corporate. The CEO was already furious when he found out about dealers doing this because they are KILLING their sales of vehicles.
Good job man tell everybody about this dealer and name
I ordered mine through Granger Ford in Iowa for $3000.00 under MSRP. I know I’ll be waiting a while.
lol, that ain't happening, but congrats if it does.
This describes my entire experience with a Ford dealer in NC. I also talked to Ford customer service with the same answer. I would have been a first time Ford buyer. I am on the verge of being a first time Hyundai owner with a Santa Fe.
I ordered my hybrid XLT from my local dealer, put down a whopping $100 dollar deposit, MSRP, no added in bogus fees. signed the offer sheet - tht locked in the price. I did have to wait till March 5th - but its being delivered, and it is the original price - less than 25K out the door. I made my decision - crossed all the T's, dotted all the i's, and got it signed by the finance manager - no issues, no price increases - no markups -
Yeah think I'll do that for 2023 Mav...
I have a new truck ordered that I'm waiting on it to get shipped - 2500 Silverado- ...i have asked a few times that the price was locked in at the msrp on the build sheet and i had a deposit of 500 (repeat customer); so far they have said yes its the price. Fingers crossed that this doesn't happen when my order comes in...if it does i will not be accepting the vehicle
Good luck, you should be good if you have it in writing?
Why are you texting to buy? Why not go in person?
He has said in his videos that they mark up if you don't order through them. However, they should have told you on the phone.
Yeah I missed those videos, and to be transparent I havn't watched a maverick video from him since like early reservation time-frame, so that is probably my fault.
This is the new future in auto sales. Car companies selling cars 2 years in advance from delivery and no inventory on the lots. Then the Car dealers are shanking the buyers with markups $5K, $10K, $20K -$30K....Oh they say supply and demand. Some dealerships are marking up the cars even with a signed order. You don't pay someone else will. The real future is consumers should be able to buy from FORD and bypass the dealerships and be able to buy at the MSRP.
its insane how much things changed in the span of less then 10 years. in 2015, I went to my local honda dealership and was able to buy a brand new bare bones accord for less then 25k, no markups, honored the price arrangement in the news advertisement and I was a happy customer. same thing in 2018, got a bare bones civic for around 18-19k OTD. that same dealership tried to fuck me over in 2021, and so I took my business elsewhere.
I left a reply comment on Tim’s Bed Box video about your experience. It’s a shame dealers don’t adopt a better business model. 30% premium on a budget vehicle is ridiculous.
Sorry for your stress,I received my Maverick on Dec 7 2021,XLT 2.0,RWD,paid 24,999,paid MSRP
Awesome! How you finding it so far?
@@PhillipLangenberg mpg 24,I drive 60 mile per day to work at 75mph,added bigger tires, talked to my sales man today for ford and he said the mark up is like you said,7,500 ,that’s crazy, hope you don’t give up!
I cancelled my order and went back seven months later to see if they got it and sold it they never did and they left my order in so they could do the same thing like what they did with that car and then I said I wanna buy it again so I just had to pay my thing and the price went up like seven dollars but it is what it is I’d rather get one in like five more months rather than never
I going to have the same issue with mine that I order. They already told me mine is gonna be sold to me for 2k over msrp
Did you order it via the dealer or was it already at the dealer?
@@PhillipLangenberg I order via dealer. I order my bronco with them and they honor msrp but they said with the maverick being at this point they losing a lot potential money might be a 2k extra
The markups are defeating the concept of a value priced vehicle.
Damn, I watch their videos and they always advertise they only charge MSRP for all their vehicles. I'm sorry to hear this. Dealers are the worst of the worst.
the trucks that were not taken from the customer that ordered it IS marked up past msrp..I believe it is $5000 over. If you are a member of the you tube channel it is another @2500 off.
There's a dealer in Wisconsin. West Bend and Greenfield who doubled the MSRP from $26,660 to over $53 grand. With taxes and fees over $56,000. Nice huh.
That’s literally insane.
It is not fair to sell a stock unit at MSRP when others have been waiting since June 2021 for their ordered Hybrid. It sounds like your sales contact just misunderstood the process. From what I understand LM Ford, is offering stock units to awaiting ordered customers at $2500 over MSRP and customer cancelled units at MSRP less $1000 shipping (but give up your ordered unit) allowance if financed there. Everyone else pays a premium or reserves at MSRP when orders open back up.
The joys!!
Like I’ve been telling everyone in the car buying industry make a mental note or write down what dealer has done you wrong and when this shit storm is over they will be begging for customers
Well Ford is going direct sell to consumers with EV’s, so things are already shifting.
My dealer has a base xlt listed for $10000 over msrp.
We learn from experiences. The Maverick is a super hot seller. The man has been texting about a truck on the lot for 45 days. Why has this truck been sitting for sale for 45 days? Price. Price. Price. Their having trouble finding a buyer. They'll probably find one.
Not real happy with the limited colors But I always have seat covers to protect the seats. The "leather" looks fine. With my interior as it is, a blue seat cover will match and protect the seats. My father used to say no to seat covers. Quote from him "I'm not going to save my seats for someone else's ass. I paid for new seats and I am going to enjoy them" LOL !! He had a 1960 Ford Falcon Wagon. It was the last Ford product he ever owned.
But Ford could be a little more creative with choices. I like dark interiors (they hide coffee stains) So we will see if "Ford has a better idea" this is my first new Ford product. They better not screw this up !!!
I manage to put a deposit on Hyundai Santa Cruz, they charge me 500$, week later the car came, the dealer told me. " we have market adjustment now so you have to pay 4000$ more" - just to clarify, the 4000$ is a diff between the SEL model with 2.5 liter engine and SEL- premium with the Turbo engine, so they charge Money like the ford that basically worth less. So I requested my money back and that's the last time I talked to that dealership, Hyundai Corp said they "can't control the dealers"
I ordered thru Long McArthur and so far have been very happy with my communication. Ford did raise the prices of the mavericks. You were not eligible to get the original Msrp price after you cancelled your original order.
Except they told him they would sell it to him at MSRP when he gave them his credit card number for the deposit. This is scummy behavior.
It’s actually fraud. If he signed papers there is nothing they can do but give him the truck he ordered at the agreed price. That’s why they “didn’t take his deposit.”
You shouldn't have cancelled your order. I have been waiting for mine almost 8 months, 8 weeks is not that bad.
Think you misunderstand, because I wasn't the 'original' orderrer... they were marking it up $7500+ over MSRP b/c why not. I just don't think the vehicle is worth that, and my understanding was I was getting it for MSRP. Trust me, it was hard for me to be like... uh no. But Not going to play games and I won't pay more than the vehicle is worth.
The only way you can get a maverick at the time was to order. But if someone will not pick up their order the dealer has room for the price. Finance also gets involved once the vehicle hits the lot. My wife works in the industry and she has heard from ppl who don’t understand why they aren’t going to be on anyones lot stock. So once the vehicle is not claimed it’s technically the dealerships vehicle to price. But that’s why everyone should just wait till the ordering banks reopen for 2023
PS. Before anyone thinks my wife’s job has done this. No she is in BDC and she handles a lot of maverick inquires and hears from first hand accounts of ppl learning this process.
You must not have been paying attention to Tim's videos because he stated over and over that the only way you get MSRP is to pre-order.
Not true (at least anymore) most banks will finance new cars at well over MSRP to allow for DIP (dealer installed profit) or warranties, service contracts, add-ons, etc. Especially these days where you may actually be able to buy a new car and take it to CarMax and _make_ money. It's a crazy new and used car market - there are signs that it is beginning to change. Best advice is to order, have a signed purchase contract and be patient - if something comes in before your order be aware that it may cost you a lot more than your ordered car/truck.
I got a call from a local dealer in AZ. I told him that if he has a price above MSRP then don't bother calling.
Good for you.
ALWAYS get a signed sales order (aka contract) to lock in pricing-. I paid MSRP.
Yeah I’ll be doing the same!
Anyone considering buying a new Ford pickup needs to watch this video.
1) get a contract for OUT THE DOOR pricing.
2) always follow up phone calls with an email verifying "what I remember from our call are these details"
Last Year I traded in my 2020 Blazer rs for a 2021 redline traverse. Got 8000 MORE than I paid for it..
Ford is considering cutting alotments to severe price gouging dealers. Dealerships of every brand do this. Not just Ford. The local Jeep dealer here puts "market adjustments" on their Wranglers and Gladiators. Regardless if you order or not. So I told them to shove it. I purchased three new vehicles from as well. They didn't care. I ordered a Maverick From Coconut Point Ford in Estero, Florida. It is my first new Ford. I paid MSRP, but they gave a fair price for my 20218 Dodge Challenger. I ordered through them August 4th 2021. I bought the Maverick Jan. 20th 2022. I had to wait that long. They didn't have ANY dealer mark-ups of any kind. It was the best auto sale experience I ever had. It took 55 minutes to complete! They did have trucks on the lot with some mark ups(F-150)'s This was their only Maverick they had. I have had a Bronco ordered since Aug. 2020!!!! Still waiting. So I suggest, if you want a Maverick get in line when you can order a 2023 hybrid. You want to be ordering when Ford releases the date to order, or you will just never have one. That is the way you will pay MSRP. BTW I love this little Truck. I'm getting 26.5 mpg and it is a 2.0 eco FX/4! Good luck to you.
People will look at these dealers and know not to do business with them when the market bounces back. Just evil
The last couple of years that I've tried to buy cars, all of the dealerships played the bait and Switch game. Even when I went through my Credit Union's car purchasing program and Costco! Crooks! . Hold on to your current car until the wheels falls off. By then the chip shortage issue subsides. I own ford vehicles and I wouldn't purchase one the 1st year model...even if they're using the same Engine setup as other Ford vehicles, It does help them to reduce issues.
This is my plan. If the dealerships make buying a vehicle difficult or expensive I will not participate. Even after chips become ubiquitous, I will not buy. Not until the dealerships are choking on their oversupply will I return.
This why i aint getting one now. Dealers putting up fake listings when they actually are charging 7-10 grand more.
Dude that really sucks. I have a maverick getting built and your welcome to it. It’s not the base one. It’s the fx4 clot for 30,000 but at least you get what you paid for. I ordered a bronco too and even if takes longer I want the bronco more. Hit me up
Thanks bud I’ll pass. I’d want the hybrid but I’ll just wait for the EV version, lightning or Silverado EV!
Always get it in writing. You cannot trust their word over a phone call. It's all about greed. But if you do this again get it in writing. Also make sure you get your deposit in writing. Legally they have to give you your refund back!
You have to directly order your own vehicle. That's the only way to get msr.
Yep the same thing happened to me just report them to Ford that is all you can do I guess but if anyone else has a better solution please let me know
What’s your story?
@@PhillipLangenberg Well I actually ordered mine and when it showed up at the dealership they up charge me by six grand but I paid it because I need it for work and then people told me I needed to complain so I called Ford and Ford called them and now the dealership is getting me a canopy and some future service on them

@@PhillipLangenberg You’re welcome
Marty, I told you on your video to talk to the dealership owner demand a refund and if he does not send you a check, take them to small claims court it's easy. Your signature accepted their offer of msrp. I bet the farm a judge will say that is a contract. I also bet the owner won't want to face that judge and set precedent for other buyers they screwed and send you a check after getting court papers.
It's not much different than a Purchase Order businesses use every day to lock in pricing on everything from office supplies to fleet vehicles. The vendor has to honor the PO price just like the dealer has to honor your Order Form price. Giving you a camper shell means it really cost you $6,000 that is no deal.
The only thing keeping me from reserving one of these vehicles are the Ford Dealerships. I cant believe Ford can get away of this kind of dishonesty.
The fact that you thought you were getting a maverick for 21000 is not realistic, the base msrp on an xl is around 24 before taxes
Went to a local Ford Dealership in the Corpus Christi Texas area and they wanted $31k for a Maverick AWD XLT BUT A MARKUP OF $11K. Ford Dealership was NOT FORD AUTONATION.
NOT A BUYER AT $42K. Don't be desperate.
That is probably why the original order buyer backed out of the buy.
Ford CEO is right, get rid of dealers!!!!!
My favorite trick is when they say they put a 1600 dollar clear paint protector to protect 500 paint job 🤣 🤣 .
It is not cool they tried to mark it up that much. On the other hand they do have the right to mark it up if it wasn't a true order/preorder . As someone who is still waiting for their truck 9 months after ordering i would be disappointed if they didn't do something to make it adverse to getting before they fill their order obligations.
I hope you filed a complaint with the FTC. They are prosecuting dealership over this garbage. Also report them to the manufacturer. They are also cracking down on dealerships on this nonsense.
I am getting the same scam. Giving up on buying a Maverick. Ford dealerships have become really corrupt (My only experience). I am starting to look at Toyota now.
sorry you had that experience, Tim as stated that the trucks are going for $5000 over msrp...he has said it numerous times...so not sure what Mike was doing.
All good. I’ve learned a lot and will apply it in the future.
@@PhillipLangenberg Tim did mention on his video last night about how the dealership screwed up with a person last week and how they are very sorry that happened and will move forward differently with customers in the future.
@@debfrommn8073 Yeah just watched it, was definitely my case. I was thinking of reaching out to him directly.
@@PhillipLangenberg great idea, he is an upstanding guy. (Ward Cleaver)
This is what the dealers are doing. You need to go into the dealership and order one directly from Ford. If you walk in and tell them you want to order one, they will order one for you but they are ordering it IN THEIR NAME! I just went through the process about 14 months ago and when you order one, you should get a receipt from ford with your name on it.
I long for the day where we have the option to skip dealerships and just factory order direct. There is no competition, brands may set their prices but the dealerships mark up the vehicles in certain areas to the absurd and honestly the experience just tarnishes the brand. The legislations for keeping dealerships around doesn’t work when brands have no control over their msrp’s, dealerships collude with each other (even having the same person/shell company owning all the ones in an area) so there’s no competition, it’s honestly just a tiring trope of the “crooked cars salesman” still existing. Just let people hop on something like Ford’s website, build and price, finance and deliver. Reclaim the land the useless dealerships use and just make depot’s for mechanical work and information only lol :P
just fyi $2,500.00 mark-up not $7,500.00 per Tim
Dude you're naive .They are a business and millions are getting screwed every month.Thats the way of life and society today.
Thats why Ford has split off into two divisions, ICE and electric. You will order your electric directly from ford and take delivery at a dealer, hopefully this will stop this gouging that the dealers are doing. What goes around comes around, you reap what you sow. Find a dealer that is honest and stay there. You really shot yourself in the foot when you canceled the first maverick order, but thats ancient history. Good luck
theres one at my local dealer with a $28,567 window stiker, but they are selling it for $36,879. so i just walk away
Good call.
"expecially" isn't a word.
This is why I will just order my own and wait. Better that way anyway. Get exactly what you want.
Yup agreed!
I would have told the finance manager that “I hope Ford start selling directly to the customer and cuts out shady dealers like you”
Absolutely no love loss between me and stealerships … but … dude, seriously, you clearly didn’t watch that guy’s videos (or at least glossed over a clearly stated aspect) …. He was abundantly clear in speaking of new orders & financing through them
But, yes, also seems the salescritter assumed you were speaking of a new order - miscommunication & misunderstanding both sides
Yeah as stated in another comment I havn't watched a 'maverick' video from Tim in some time, it was early reservation timeframe. So I guess I messed up, but people are saying he mentioned $2,500, not the $7,500 they were upcharging me for an XL. But yeah, miscommunication and misunderstanding clearly.
Let the dealers fade away from memory. Let them bleed out of a wound of their own making.
