    with a $7500 markup on the hybrid, this makes choosing a new Honda Civic more appealing, Screw these dealers, if they like their inventory so much They can Drive em!

    I'm pretty much in the exact same boat as you. This is also my first time trying to buy a new Ford the the experience has been absolutely terrible to the point that I'm debating if I even want to give Ford my hard earned money once they are available. I had tried to order one before they closed down orders but the sales person I talked to at my local dealership dropped the ball and didn't put my order in so I wasn't able to get one. Since then I've been looking for one but dealing with these dealers has been so bad that I'm about to give up and buy a Tesla just so I dont have to go through a dealer.
    The most recent Maverick I offered to purchase was a Lariat, ecoboost fx4 that had been sitting on this dealers lot for months now and they had it marked up to over $40,000. It was very easy to see the $7500 "adjustment" they added. So I offered them MSRP. They said they couldnt do that and proceded to tell me how 40k for a Maverick was a good deal even though it didnt have the options I want. (Im looking for a lariat, hybrid, Lux Package, copilot 360 and the 8 speaker B&O stereo which builds out to roughly the 32k MSRP as this ecoboost they have for sale but with different options I dont want.) I told them that if I wanted to spend over 40 grand, I would move up a tier of truck and just order a Lightning Pro when they open up again. The Maverick was supposed to be the cheap little gas getter not price comparable to a full size truck. The didn't want to come off that 40k price so I politely told them to kick rocks but I'd still be willing to purchase it for MSRP if they changed their mind. Haven't heard back lol.
    Also, I had given my credit card to number to a different dealer to reserve one that they had coming in. After they took my money they said there was going to be a markup so I had told them to cancel my deposit. Shortly after that, that same credit card that I hadn't used anywhere else gets used to make a $2500 purchase online... So then I had to deal with credit card fraud and all of that. Needless to say, I dont have much faith in Ford dealerships right now. Sorry for the long reply but I felt like it needs to be said.

      Agreed. "the cheap little gas getter not price comparable to a full size truck" has turned into a product and marketing fiasco. You are already at a level price point tier for an XL/XLT in lowest trim. The point of this vehicle is lost.

      Sounds as though Ford is trying to screw you. It is absolutely ridiculous to to overcharge for what is a soon-to-be 1 year old truck. I am pissed that as soon as I drive that truck off the lot it will drop $10, 000 dollars in value. Asking more than the MSRP for a vehicle that has not proven itself is very interesting there are no long-term reviews on the performance of these trucks They could be the biggest piece of junk since the Pinto. I had a friend with a pinto and his vanity license plate was k a b o o m lol I m
      Reserving judgment on these vehicles until they prove themselves and that may take several years of production. Ford gave out a quality award for their Mexican plant. Surprise that that award was issued by top officials at Ford. What do you think they would say about the quality of this product??? Again this makes me laugh out loud. So take everything you hear from Ford with a grain of salt

      This will be my first new Ford product. I have read lots of reviews and they are about 50/50 so far. There seem to be a lot of female complaints. Maybe they just do not understand repairs or maybe they are just complaining for the sake of complaining. The representative that I have dealt with so far seems reasonable. He says that he has been selling Fords for 30 years again he seems reasonable but with 30 years of experience he may also know all the sales person tricks in the book . I do not like working with salesman. I would rather deal with Ford directly. Just my personal preference. We will see because I'm positive my Lariat will not be in my possession until late and I mean very late in the manufacturing year. That is why I may not accept it. It will be a one-year-old product and already start to devalue before I even put any miles on it.

    The dealer in my city said they are not selling Mavericks above MSRP hoping that Ford is going to punish those dealers that are marking up vehicles. They are hoping that next year they will allocate them more mavericks since they didn't screw the customer over.

    I have a working vehicle currently so I'm going to play the long wait game. The MSRP is at the right spot for this vehicle and it does what I want. I refuse to pay more.

    I ordered the lariat 2.0, with every option in November. I called the number for the Maverick this week and was warned about dealerships marking up the price. I went to my dealership and got my price in writing plus I get a discount from my employer, so I'm paying alot less than msrp. Alot of dealers will lose business for that horrible business practice. FYI I ordered from Butler County Ford in Butler Pa

      Ford has definitely done a very poor job of handling this whole situation with the Maverick. They are taking temporary profits over developing a good base for future customers as far as I'm concerned I will wait a little longer. The thing that is disgusting about this whole situation is that this is not necessary. My dealer has sort of kept me in the loop. But as soon as I pick up my 2022, the price value-wise will drop like a rock. They will then whine and cry that my vehicle is a one year old vehicle and that it has lost 10 grand in value .They play the game at both ends very well and a 2023 will skyrocket in price so I might just leave them and never return to buy an American product again. Also the Maverick is not been proven to run that well yet it could be the biggest piece of junk on the road Only time will tell.

    I put a $100 dollar deposit at the dealership close to me 10/10/21. From what it looks like, most people are getting build dates 6 or 7 months into it. I have yet to receive a build date on a basic XL hybrid, floor mats, full size spare, trailer hitch. Platinum Silver with basic wheels. I tried to keep it as cheap as possible.

    Cudos to you Phillip for reaching out to clear up your previous video. I have a Maverick on order since June of 21, and am willing to wait to get what I want, (xlt hybrid lux pkg). I wish you well with whatever you decide to do. (Deb)

      Supposedly all early orders will be built this year, lux pkg and bed liner are the holdups right now.

    By why did you “cancel” your original order? It’s still going to be built… your original dealer is going to mark it up as well … you can have played both lanes for the lightning and the Maverick at the same time

    I ordered 7/17 and haven't gotten an email yet for my hybrid to be built. I have the lux 360 package so I don't know when it will be pulled to build but it's a headache for sure.

    The solution is to buy a Santa Cruz at MSRP. Which I did. My Maverick is still on order, but it will go to the boys.

    Dude I feel and hear your pain. I've watched and waited and hunted this damn trucklet since end of 2021. Between ADMs of $5-10K, trucks listed as "for sale" that weren't even on lot / were customer orders / or trying to actually ORDER one from Ford website and wait 6-12 months / and the list of BS goes on and on........Number 1 issue is the ADM. I looked at this vehicle from the perspective of "cool looking and good MPG with a reasonable amount of options if I wanna go that route" and end up with a cool trucklet that I would enjoy. Well - two full years later - I was still getting the runaround. I just bought a 2023 Mav with Tremor and XLT Lux package USED with 1,579 miles on it. A LOT of searching. Still paid $1,000 over what MSRP was, but it's sitting in MY DRIVEWAY. Did NOT pay $5-10k over MSRP for new that may or may not be delivered. These are indeed stupid crazy times. I - like youself - am not exactly happy with this fiasco, but I will say this - it's definitely worth pursuing. It was worth all my hours of scouring the net. And the unfortunate fact is - dealers KNOW what a hot commodity it is. And are gouging every step ofthe way. I really thinkj it's worth over what MSRP is, and I paid accordingly. But NOT $5-10 k over MSRP

    Ford loses another customer. There are a lot of good used trucks out there. Take your time and look around. Maybe get a few more miles from your current vehicles. My other car is a
    Honda CRV. I just put a trailer hitch on it and for 400 bucks added a tow-behind trailer. Problem solved and I will save 36,000 dollars Again do not let Ford make you think that a Maverick will solve all your problems. Good luck and go low budget if you have to. Start making payments to YOURSELF so that you can have some money towards a future downpayment

    I had a friend who also looking for nearly 2 months and fo7nd a dealer they did have the lariat hybrid mark up 5gs.. but everything is negatiable. He got it knocked down to 2500 with added accessories and it shiped out of state .. wasnt too bad . The vehicle is underpriced anyway and they intentionally did that.. he is on his 4 fill up , 500+ mi per tank 40 mpg .. it's a hidden Gem for sure

    Very stand up video, I have one and would get again, it feels bigger then it is , I have 2.0 AWD as I am in upstate Ny, so the one thing they need to do is hybrid AWD !

    I have had wonderful experience with my ford dealer. I found the communication to be precise, honest and as disclosed by Ford. I am still waiting. Maybe you should express your discontent to Ford directly. You seem like a frustrated guy...advice, Get over it and get yourself in line for the 2023 Model. Well worth the wait

    Phill, what did you decide since this video? I too, ordered an XL base in July, but my dealer called me and i couldnt pass up a XLT loaded that the customer didnt take. I know i paid more than i should have but was everything i wanted if i wasnt worried about delaying the build. (Ronbo in MWO)

    i just got the mav hybrid and i'm pretty impressed.. ford is doing a lot of things right, it's just too bad some of the dealerships are pissing off a lot of potential customers.

    San Diego Perry Ford $21k Mav XL for $42k. Hemet Ford Mav XLT $11k mark-up. North Hollywood Ford Mav XL $6k mark-up. Chula Vista Ford Ranger Lariat $5k mark-up. Price gouging.

    bro, common, the man publicly apologized, and for what, your lack of research? why do you expect more from him? Seems really naive that you expect to find a Maverick Hybrid on the lot for MSRP? Any dealership would be incredibly stupid for simply charging MSRP on a truck with such great demand. The reality sucks, for sure, but it is what it is. $7500 is the price to forgo the wait.

    I dont really care whether the guy admits it up front. 7500 markup is 35 percent of the cost of the vehicle. I am about to go through the process of buying two and I swear, if my local dealer even hints at a mark up I will be done with Ford. Not just done with dealer, done with FORD. Its on them to crack down on this. Period. Ive had nine F250 and loved them but never paid even MSRP.

    If you are looking for a hybrid I know where there's 3 on the ground right now sitting in Michigan and they're not tagged they're over at Blackwell Ford in Plymouth I suggest you give them a shout that's where I got my truck and my truck supposed to be here next week according to according to my friends at Ford and I also conterved firmed with the shipper it's sitting in flat rock

      If you are dead set on new, this. If you are willing to wait. The used car market bubble is slowly beginning to pop. Black book/ kbb/ Edmunds and others are all showing falling prices. The REAL tell will be on about two weeks time, all of the dealers are banking on the post tax refund spring selling season. If that doesn’t happen. You will see a market bubble pop unlike anything since the Clinton housing market crash. I sold my pickup at the top of the market. Now I am waiting for it to pop and scoop a nice used car from a desperate dealer.

    Why full electric? Do you drive very little; because that’s the only way it will work for you. They suck for long road trips unless you’re into reading a book at charging stations along the way. Oh yeah, those huge batteries are hazardous waste. You’re welcome. I ordered my Maverick in June and picked it up in November. I got the 2.0 because the hybrid was delayed (everybody on the Maverick forums knew this). Moral of the story, do your research.

    First they had an agreement with you on the phone. You asked for the full price and passed up other deals. Second the lightning battery upgrade makes it a no sale for me. So from your experience and the way Ford dealers treats its customers I won't be buying anything from Ford and I hope this dealer reads this. I need a car this year and your bad maners make me hate your brand. I'll just buy a Santa Cruz.
