Awesome! I’m a first year sped teacher for k/1 and I’m a year into my masters. (I went directly into my masters after my undergrad) Just applied for my ph.d as well! Good luck on your journey!
I did my Master's through WGU last year, and I did it in learning and technology. I completed it in 5 months, and I liked the program. I worked on it everyday when I was teaching. I would teach all day get off at 3:45, and then work on it until 9-10 pm. Not all classes have a test you have to take at the end. A lot of them are papers and projects. I only took 2 proctored tests in my degree from WGU. It is a good thing that you didn't choose to do it starting in February-March. Your 6 months would have pushed you to August, and for your capstone you need live student data, meaning that you would have had to pay for an extra 6 months of time to finish your Masters just to get the data when students are in school in September. If you have ANY questions, feel free to respond and i'll answer any and all questions :) I also teach in WA. I am in Puyallup.
That's awesome! I know quite a few people who the technology course. Thank you so much for all this information! I definitely will be reaching out with questions when I have them! :)
You're really inspiring to me! You are so positive in everything you do and it inspires me to become even more positive. I'm currently a sophomore in K-6 Elementary Education and I am so passionate about teaching but I sometimes get scared. Watching your videos boosts my confidence and reassures me that teaching is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I do plan on getting my Masters degrees (most likely multiple if possible) and eventually work my way up to either an EeD or PHD. You're doing amazing and keep listening to your gut!
Congratulations!! ❤️ “curriculum and instruction” sounds like such an incredible area of study rather than just education, best of luck!! love from a young preschool teacher! ❤️
I want to commend you on deciding to pursue a Master's Degree. Congratulations on having your two kittens home now. May they give you a lot of love. Everything seems to be falling in place for you, and I wish you the best.
I can't wait to see more videos on your masters! I will be graduating in May, but want to get my masters in the near future. WGU seems awesome from what you're saying!
Congratulations again, girl!! NC doesn’t get a pay-raise with masters, so I’m holding out on my masters until I’m completely ready. I am so busy right now, it just wouldn’t be as beneficial for me to half-commit to it. The only way I can get a pay-raise is national boards, which is my next steps at this moment. This sounds like a really great program though and very do-able. I’m excited to hear your experience with it! Seriously, your kittens are the cutest!! Oh my gosh I wanna squeeze them.
So excited for you! I’m currently in my second semester of getting my bachelors in teaching at WGU and I’m loving it! It’s perfect for me being a full time working mom of two. Good luck!
How’s the school in regards to the teaching program? I’m currently at post University getting a bachelors in child studies not sure if I want to transfer due to the student teaching program they offer. My school doesn’t offer that so I’ll have to do post baccalaureate.
Definitely join the group “WGU teachers college” on Facebook! I joined it before I started and I learned SO much and felt so prepared when my first term started. There’s a ton of people that are accelerating their degrees and have a lot of great tips!
I know you said it was self paced, but are there due dates for the projects? Also, how does the program do grading like are there teachers that read over your work? So happy for you!
Nope! Everything is self-paced meaning there are no due dates. And i'm not sure how the grading process is for like essays, but the tests are multiple choice so that is just system graded.
I just got excepted at Bridgevalley to fulfill my Associate degree in Early Childhood education, then I'm going to transfer my credits and attend WGU to fulfill my Bachlors degree in Elementary and Special education Duel
Thank you so much. You motivate and inspire me to take a Masters Degree. I really want to but our family can't afford the payment for tuition fee. God bless you more🙏🙏
I worked thru Masters in Clinical Teaching, National Board Early Childhood Special Needs, & Educational Leadership Specialist for Principalship. I admire young teachers who want to further their career in education. You go girl!
Did anyone here get there bachelors in a non teaching degree and then for the elem Ed masters program? I’d like to pick your brain if possible-that seems the route I may take. Thanks! Sam
I know you probably didn’t go to WGu for your bachelors degree but do you think that it would be harder for me to find a job if I went through with WGU University for my bachelors in education?

haileykatelynn tysm for answering! I was just very curious about it
Congratulations. Best wishes for you.
Thank you so much! :)
What is a “mid winter break?” Is it like in Jan/Feb? Do you not have a Thanksgiving break? I’m always so curious about other schools’ break schedules!
Yes! Ours is in February. And we do have Thanksgiving break, but that is before December 1st (when I start the program).
haileykatelynn Lucky!! I wish my school had a break in February.
Wishing you all the best!
Thanks girl 💛💛

Did you first have to get your bachelors plus 30? Do you know how much your school costs doing it online? Definitely looking for cheaper options
Nope! Just my bachelors. Yes, for a six month term, it is a little under $3500.
Congratulations

Thank you so much for sharing this information! I am a first-year teacher in GA who is now seriously looking at starting the same program at WGU!
Of course! I am going to be uploading another video soon all about my experience :)
I know you probably didn’t go to WGu for your bachelors degree but do you think that it would be harder for me to find a job if I went through with WGU University for my bachelors in education?
no you will get a job
I'm thinking about getting my masters degree with WGU in English language.
Fun! Do it!
what are the requirements for admission into the curriculum and instruction program? :)
I think you just need a bachelor's degree!
what exactly do you study in curriculum and instruction?
From what I understand so far, it's a lot of learning about how to differentiate instruction based on students' needs, and stuff like that.
in what subject you are doing your master degree?
MS In Curriculum and Instruction
How old are you
23!
