Somethings I glossed over that may help your sim turn out better. - Select your domain, under "Gas" Try increasing the Vorticity - Select your domain, under "Advanced" change "Compression Volumes" to "zip" - Select your domain, under "Adaptive Domain" try changing "Add Resolution" to 1 - Try adding forces to your scene Hopefully if you are having issues this may help a little

i love that you are trying to do it in native Blender, use and move the tool forward, not just give up and use houdini like some do, always good to see people pushing the boundaries of Blender and perceptions of what is and isn't possible! great to see, and yes he is aweseome i love his youtubes!
There is a To Sphere function, shortcut is Shift Alt S hope that saves some time! Works on selection in edit mode so subdiv cube, apply, use this and you'll be good to go. It works like any other operator 0.0 -> 1.0
@@attimp4 there is also another way for achieving this quickly, just go into preferences - Add-ons and tick the checkbox for Add Mesh: Extra Objects. After that if you hit Shift+A and navigate to mesh there is a "round cube". After adding the round cube to your scene you can change the radius in the object settings on the left down side of the viewport.

Awesome!! Mac user here. Had Houdini Indie on my system for sometime learning what I could because, well, it's the best for this sort of thing. Blender has come a long way and with the development of particle nodes coming for 3.6 this hopefully will get easier (less resource taxing) for our systems. Love this tutorial. Thank you. Holding out hope that with the particle system updates they will incorporate some really good geo nodes for erosion simulations for terrain modelling, like Houdini.
Just found your channel, and so glad I did! You're a fantastic teacher, great edit, you know what you're talking about. You've got a subscriber for life!
Your channel is having some amazing growth. I checked yesterday and you were at 4k subs and you already have 4.31k! Can’t wait to see what else you make
Incredible, just astonishing! I do suppose if we find a way to deliver similar results in eevee it's totally possible to go for animations, but hey, you're the magician, not me.
Amazing videos! As a novice I would love if you also ran through how you put together the 'simple scene' that you used as a backdrop, I noticed you did something similar in another video of yours.
Loved this!!! I’m new to simulations and baking though so I would’ve loved to see how u did the baking and why. I guess this video is more towards intermediate+ blender users but still. Also it would be nice to know how long it took u to render that image, just to get an idea if I’m doing something wrong or if I even should consider trying to create something like this! Amazing work dude
Hey, there's an easier way of getting the sphere with good topology. You can enable the "Extra Objects" addon that comes with blender, and select the Round Cube option from the mesh menu. Then, just set the radius to 1.0 on the properties menu that pops up.
a better way to do the cube sphere thing is just add a cube subdivide it and press shift alt S (to sphere ) and drag ur mouse to the right and boom perfect sphere or activate the extra shape addon that have a spherical cube already
I would love a tutorial on colour dust explosions. there is one tutorial but it is not great. I believe its possible in Houdini and C4D. I think a lot of people would like that.
love your work just curious im planing to build a pc soon and was wondering what would I need parts that could handle heavy heavy loads of blender work detailed projects new to pc ? :D
I need more of your Blender Houdini content! LOVIT! I would love more motion graphics content for blender, I feel like that is lacking and your content could fill a void. Don't get me wrong, you can find some motion graphics tutorials for blender, however they don't seem to get the same hype or result as other programs like C4D which is basically made for motion graphics. Anyway, I like your content!
It's just practice tbh. Learning a non linear program can be hard but it's just about rewiring the brain to think in a non linear way. Everyone is super lost with nodes at first, just takes time.
Hey, what CPU are you using that you're getting such good smoke sim perf? I'm throwing a 7950x at Blender and still not having it simulate near as fast, for you it appeared to be running near realtime while still set to 60 divisions.
My Blender crash every time I assigne the smoke material to the smoke domain and go to render viewport.. does anyone can help with that please ? x) 5950X/3090/64gb RAM
9:16 blender crashes when I plug it into displacement and have it in rendered view. 🤷♂ yet, it only took 20 seconds to bake 60 frames. and viewport isn't laggy at all. what potato are you working on? 😃 (this was on my file. I downloaded yours and it takes a bit longer to bake🤣) but then again, my smoke doesn't look as good as yours 🤣🤣
blender should reinstall the "network rendering again.. the removed the function ,but we all have 'old hardware' we can use as renderingnodes for free.

thanks for motivating me to continue to learn blender man, cool stuff you re making, much appreciate you sharing :)

thanks for this sick tutorial, i liked it so much i'm going to spend a week rendering a 10 second animation
the render estimated 96 hours, got two hours in, and then crashed. I will stick with the still images :>
commenting for the algorithm and for the quality of the explanations, truly hard to find anywhere else
Top notch content! The idea of recreating houdini things in blender is really great, love it! subscribed and staying tuned👍
Holy shit. You are doing the most amazing stuff in blender. I had no idea any of these things were even...possible at all.
Cool stuff! Will continue to watch your houdini like sims for sure.
Omg, COOL! I came up with something like this a year ago with animated smoke, but my post on reddit wasn't noticed
Thank you for sharing - learning a lot from you and those you reference
Keep it up. I really love what you have been adding the to Blender community.
So glad I found this channel, keep going with the good work!
Hey pal! Great work, thanks a lot for sharing.
Looking forward to try it out!

If you have the Add Mesh extra objects enabled you can add a round cube without having to cast etc.
was just going to comment this
This is seriously insane. Love the creativity.
appreciate the conclusion a lot. thx man!
Another great example of why Blender is truly amazing. Thank you for showing us this! You've earned a Sub!
These tutorials are amazing man. Thanks for this content
Looks amazing man keep doing these videos
agreed, Bad Normals is too smart. Thanks for the tutorial!

Pls help: how do I bake the smoke simulation????
Any suggestions for a good C4D/ Houdini style noodle simulation done in Blender?
How do I increase the amount of smoke an object creates? I want it to fill the screen over time
my guy is insane
Hey nice tutorial :D
Could you please make tut for the first smoke thats shown in the video? :D
That looks really different and smooth
I'd like to be able to make that too - with the thick dense clumps...
Looks reaal beautiful man, bravo. I'm gonna head back to blender and not make a video with this technique. rip render times
what is your suggestion for leaning nodes in blender, because everything gone above my head
It's just practice tbh. Learning a non linear program can be hard but it's just about rewiring the brain to think in a non linear way. Everyone is super lost with nodes at first, just takes time.
You're nutty 🖤
would it be possible to swap the object with something else while keeping everything else in tact?
I like your channel logo
Great
The hardest level is make this but in eevee.
thanks :)
Hello nice tutorial
I'm sorry, I'm not sure I really understand.
What GPU do you use?
I tried it with a 4090 and my computer was screaming
Very interesting tutorial!
I'm wondering, what are your hardware specs?
Can you let us know your System specs on which you made this?
ryzen 9 5950x
RTX 3090
32GB DDR5
if most of the time you take the cube out, why not just save the default scene to be with no cube and how you like it to start
because i am dumb
How much samples on render?
2500

5950x not sure what make you have worse performance. Could have something to do with having CPU enabled for GPU compute. Idk
That is aresome

okay dude just slow down a sec. things are getting out of hand
