Well, I haven't even watched this video and I fixed it. It might work for other laptop users. Just unplug the charger, restart your laptop, let it load up, try charge it and if it doesn't work, try again and blow into the charger to make sure there's nothing blocking it (aka dust).
@5:15 - 5:27 fixed my dell latitude e6430. the critical part that was missing in several offical threads was removing battery, power up with adapter plugged in, delete all of the EXACT drivers he recommeded(including any multiples). shutdowm. install battery. wait until past bios loading, log into windows. install battery. these exact steps is what worked for me.
I have tried all of these tips and tricks: taking out the battery, doing a hard reset, draining the battery, updating the drivers, disabling the drivers, updating the bios. Sometimes you just have to do a hard reset on your pc and wipe all your apps and files before fixing the problem. This last thing is the only thing that worked for me.
i have an old acer laptop, i recently replaced the battery with a generic one, its fits perfects for a few days it worked but its plugged in but its showing 97% power plugged in NOT charging, if had the laptop on for over 30min but its still showing 97% power not charging, what does this mean? if its not charging why hasent it drained down to 90% or 80%?? or is it still getting power from my electricity at home but its just not charging the battery for some reason? ive tried taking the battery out and turning the computer on and off and still says plugged in not charging
I have a laptop that for a long time it showed "Plugged in not charging." Okay, no problem. I'll just try a new battery (after all at that point the battery was 5 years old). It worked! ... for a few months... Later I started getting the same thing. Whenever the computer was not on AC power it drained the battery, but once it was on AC again it would hold at whatever % it was at. So I get a new charging brick -- After all it's 230W and gets quite warm. This did not help. So I had a computer sitting there at 17% battery and no way to charge it (and it draws too much head current to put on my UPS backups with all my other stuff). About half a year later, there is a winter storm, and the house lost power while I was at work, and I come home to my laptop fully charged, and shut off. I had calibrated that battery when I got it, and again a couple months before the issue started again. I don't know what happened, but the power outage seemed to have fixed a long standing charging issue. (To note my system is dual boot Ubuntu and Win10, neither of the two would charge the battery). So, yeah. That's a fun little story for you folks.
My Brother it worked . I seen other videos so some what of the same thing but they missed some key points taking out the battery and deleting what was in the battery line up . . Your amazing brother peace and blessings
Solved... I had same problem.. i noticed that my hp envy charged only up to 87% then stopped and says “plugged in not charging”. This problem was so annoying for me for about 2weeks despite of trying methods like uninstalling acpi What i did was purely self experimental but it worked I plugged the charger and when it stops charging, that is about 87%, unplugged it and use your laptop till it drains the battery.. for me, until it runs out of power. Then plugged it again and repeat same process. What i noticed was that upon repeating the process, the battery gradually charges from 87 to 92 to 93 to 95 and then 100%.. on that process, sometimes the battery charges up to 100% then down to 95% then 100% again until it normalized to stable charging 100%... since then, my laptop doesnt shows max charging below 100%... i hope this will help guys.
Modern Laptops have batteries that can not be removed. Your laptop may have come with software that controls the laptops hardware, overclocking battery etc. Check the battery settings in this software, mine had 3 settings: Charge only when below 60%, Charge at 80% or Charge to Full. The software will stop charging from occurring at the set percentage and will cause the issue posted in the title of this video
In the last you said that its wrong to charge only till 80% but apple itself said that you should not charge till max and not let battery get drained completely in case of lithium ion battery. You can google their official statement. So whom to believe, you or Apple.
I literally can’t remove the battery in my Del laptop and I just got it three weeks ago. Now I can’t use it for school and every solution involves looking at and removing the battery. I literally can’t do that, and my computer is at three percent.
EasyTechs my computer almost died so I went to the fry’s electronics store and they said their chargers weren’t working either so they gave us a great deal. The same laptop with an i7 instead of an i5 and it was currently on sale so they gave my mom some of her money back that she paid for the i5. Thank you!
I attempted the complete procedure on my laptop original battery for a Lenovo T420. It must be about burned out since the 'cryrogenic' and revival technique failed to produce even another 30 minutes of recharge onto the battery. Suppose I'll begin scrounging for a replacement.
I have an hp laptop. It was charging fine. Sometimes it stops and keeps charging. But after awhile when there was a storm rainy weather. The power shut off a few times. And then after it cut back on. It was charging and it stopped. And it wasn't charging. So I tried a few steps like in this video. It's at 92%. And it's still not charging. What is the problem and what should I do? Please tell me?
My power adapter stopped working, wouldn’t charge my laptop or battery, . I took apart the plug( the plug that goes into to back of the laptop) and re soldered the 3 wires. It worked. One of the wires must have been broken.
Thank you so much for this video; I am now in the process of letting my battery run down to zero ... I followed all your steps and its come to this and it shows that the battery has 3:00 remaining ... I'll be asleep by then and I do hope this will re-calibrate my battery. I will be posting an update later and I Hope this fixes the problem..
I fixed my issue by simply refitting the same battery, (it was a new battery I added months back), but I seen no issue since then until now. Now its fixed, as its charging like nothing happened.
if the icon says plugged in NOT charging, how can you recalibrate the battery? if you drain it to 0% by unplugging it from the wall, and turn it on, why would it go back to 100% if its showing plugged in not charging? get it
Hi, Mine an HP laptop with windows 10 My battery wasn't working and then I bought a new battery, but it shows 0%available (plugged in, charging) but it isn't actually charging even if I charge it for hours and hours. Please help me to sort it out.! Thank you 🙂
You are wrong it's not a problem when your battery is full it's not charging it anymore, it's for battery safety Try to disconnect the charger for awhile and use laptop... Reconnect the charger and you will see its charging again
mine says 34% available (plugged in)!!??? i get power and all parts are NEW even the battery and the DELL ac charger!! i think my motherboard is faulty so i am getting a replacement and hope that works and charges my battery!!😢😢😢
Hello! I have this problem where my new (not genuine Dell) battery is not recognized by my Dell XPS15 laptop and won't charge it. Battery seems to hold its power, it came 20% charges. AC Adapter is working fine (checked in BIOS). BIOS and all others drivers are up to date. I did the shut down-cable off-remove battery-press power button 30 sec-put all power back in-start laptop sequence. I think i did everything I could. Its like my new battery is missing a special ''Dell chip'' for it to be recognized. Thing is, Dell doesn't sell batteries for my laptop model. I'm feeling totally helpless... Would you have any other clue for me ?
Sir, my dell inspiron laptop not power on battery while battery is new. It charge battery normal way till 100%, but when i remove power cable then it power off suddenly without any notification.
Please my samsung i3 laptop charges when it off, but when i turn it on , it stop charging and shutdown less than an hour, what could be the fault please
My laptop says “No Battery detected”while I have battery inside It again has information “Windows not Genuine “ then lastly,”Shift”key not working.Whoever can help I will appreciate.I use windows 7,Sony Vaio
Probably an under-powered charging brick. I had a customer with a laptop that the charger that came with it was no longer powerful enough to charge it. The computer came with a 45W charger, and after some windows updates, it wanted a 60W charger. No idea why. The specs on the computer even said it wanted a 45W charger, however it only liked the 60W+ chargers we tried.
Mines does the same thing i unplug the charger the computer just shut down. right now my laptop just showing 0 % it's not even charging at all and it showing the orange light.

man, where do you find any laptop nowaday with battery u can take off?
most u have to open up and remove from the MOBO
I have an dell i7 laptop, removable battery. My surface pro however I expected not to have that option even though way way back it would've too..
There are a lot of old ones tho, which primarily face this problem...
