Great tip about recharging 'dead' battery. I already knew that you can revive "dead" lithium battery by bringing it back to minimum level of charge, but drililng tiny hole on sides of the battery to recharge it instead of cracking the battery case open is a huge tip! thank you

Nice easy fix in the end with it being just the positive connection on the power input - good hack on injecting charge into the battery too to get the pack going. The Medion brand is the cheap tat they sell in Aldi - don't see why they would bother with a fan if it did nothing as it adds extra cost - if you look at the casing vents, it probably draws air over the processor from underneath and out the side without the use of a heatsink which would add further cost - not the best cooling solution but then it's meant to be cheap ;)

I tried with an Asus battery (X55C if I remember well...) and damn, the internal battery cells were not disposed in plus-minus sequence as always (very weird). I opened carefully the enclosure and I applied the voltage on the right point. And battery live again. Thanks!

*1.* 5:30 This is a *GREAT* video, and a *GREAT* battery trick! I just did this trick on a 6-cell Toshiba battery pack which showed "plugged in, not charging." Your trick worked perfectly! It only took me about five minutes (plus time watching videos).
First I watched some other youtube videos, in which they disassembled battery packs similar to my Toshiba's 10.8v / 11.1v six-cell pack. They showed that the six batteries are just a series string of three ganged pairs. So I did what you suggested: I drilled a tiny hole in each end, pressed my DVM leads through the holes, and measured the voltage: a bit over 8v. I then clipped the DVM leads to a 12v car battery with double-clip leads, poked them through the holes, and watched the voltage climb from about 8v to a little over 10v. Then I put the battery back into the laptop, and over the next couple of hours it charged up completely!
    ‍‍‍‍‍‍
*2.* The "magic bullet" that solved my *lower back pain* problem was to do *"crunches."* Just a minute or two of exercise each morning, in bed -- and if you start to feel discomfort then stop, it means that you are done for the day. In just a couple of weeks -- probably no more than 30 minutes total time expended -- you'll probably see major improvement. Searching UA-cam finds many "how to" videos; here's one:
    ua-cam.com/video/MKmrqcoCZ-M/v-deo.html
Note: crunches are the cure for moderate lower back pain, not upper back, and not for serious problems like herniated disks. They strengthen your abs, which support the lower half of your S-shaped spine.

Nice technical experience at its best, beautiful video... I have a battery that won't charge when fixed in my laptop, when I replaced the battery with another one it charges, the question is what makes my battery cut-off without any signs but, I can tell you I did allow some unectical practice though , for instance having my laptop on in my truck while I drive and I think couple of time I experienced shaking the laptop shot down, WHEN i BRAKE !!! couple of time before my battery went out...hope this is not the final burial for it... could that be shunting!?

The battery has 2 negative pins on its connector usually side by side. one going to the negative of the cells. When The battery detects both pins connected to ground it will allow you to read the voltage of the cells and charge the battery via the main connector.

Have you try fixing Lenovo T420 battery before? I oppened mine, measure each cell is 3.6V, 3.6V and 2.4V. I thought the 2.4V cell spoiled but I can manually charge it. I measured capacity of each cell is about 2900mAh for all threel, spec was 5000mAh, that about 60% not so bad. However, somehow I can't get the voltage out of the connector. I checked the battery PCBA, fuse was OK, none of the capacitor short. The closed explaination I got from internet is the microprocessor flag it as defective cell when detecting inbalance. Any idea how to reset that without having couple hunderd dolars of equipment? or maybe some brute force way to fix it?

What is the voltage at the pins where the battery is plugged in laptop. You know when you put the battery in the laptop, there are pins that gets connected to battery pins. What is the voltage I should expect when I remove the battery. I connected the laptop just to my charger and getting about 2.9 V at the pin that gets connected to battery when you put it.

    I have a Sony BPS-13 11.1v battery. I measured the outer most connections + - and get 11.3v. However
when it's in my Sony Laptop the charging percentage does not go above 73% and the Laptop amber charging light never
goes out. I tried removing the battery, holding the laptop power button down for 30 seconds, insert the battery but
still no change. I am not sure if the laptop or the battery is the problem.
I do not have the laptop charging configured to stop at 50% or 80% it's configured for 100% charge.
Could you offer a few things for me to try? Thanks, Ken

I know when in windows the battery is charging, but when i take the battery out and try to charge it with lab supply, no current.

My battery not charging after 2 y of not using on +/- new laptop, and its was 100% working before i stopped to use laptop. I also i tried all other methods - like reinstalling drivers, (even win7 to win 10 and back many times) unplugging battery methods , power switch holding by 20 seconds. p.s. battery visually looks like new too.

    Hi there,
I can feel your back pain up to here. If you are sure that you have no damage to your back and you are not yet being treated by a doctor, try the following: Go to a place where you cannot be disturbed, but can call for help if necessary. At this place there should be a stable vertical tube or a ladder or a railing that you can hold on to with your hands. You grasp it with both hands and then support yourself with one hand while reaching down a little further with the other hand. You bend your back further and further down without using the back muscles. The back muscles should be relaxed all the time. You just hang on your arm. It should feel good. Climb at that way up and down along the pipe but while you keep your feet on the ground and only go a little backwards or forwards. Do it very slowly. And make sure you don't have to make a sudden movement because the pipe falls over or you slip off. If it hurts while you are doing this, stop it and try again on another day. If there is no other damage in your back this can help you a lot by doing this only twice a week. Get Well and stay healthy ! Thanks for your videos and a lot of information. Greetings from Germany !

You measured/charged ( in the video ) battery cells ONLY. Is it so?
But what if that electronic circuit (in the battery pack )is faulty? Will the laptop charge?I do not think so.Or am I wrong? And how do you test that battery cells are OK but electronic circuit( in that battery pack) is faulty?

What is used and how do you bring the battery back minimum voltage. I'm new here and don't know what everything he is using.

Blob of hot glue and a bit of solder :-)
