Hi, I have same problems recently and I've done everything I can find from the internet. The last thing I did is simply unplug the charger and drained the battery from 82% to 78%, and then I plug in again. Yes, it started to charge. Maybe you can just drain your battery 10% each time and see if it works.
Gamerznation Charlotte my battery is 0 now and I don't know why today and I'm aurtistic or dissable so I don't get help and so I need my computer to print for my siblings school stuff and my bussness shipping labels so I don't know what to do
FANTASTIC! It WORKED!! Thank you SO MUCH. I have an ASUS F510U and I accidentally banged my computer coming in from the back porch and killed my hard drive, replaced it and then it wouldn't run off of battery power (dying as soon as I unplugged it) and had a flashing orange "charge" light on the indicator on the left side of the laptop, an "x" over the battery icon, showed 255% when hovering over it, and showed "100%" when clicking on the battery icon but the battery worked OK before and I figured it was probably still fine and that my charge cord/ supply was good and I have HOURS in Googling and various other attempts and tried again today, saw your video and said "that's about the last thing I care to try" and IT WORKED! This is an internal battery, goofy shape, flat and spread out with 3 battery sections in an "L" shape and was a PAIN to remove fully but I did it, then followed your steps, reinstalled battery then power supply, booted up AND DONE! Again, thank you so VERY MUCH! I appreciate your time and effort in making and posting the video. Bravo and CHEERS!
What worked or me after 4 months of "plugged in, not charging" I simply turned off my laptop and disconnected my battery, then I cleaned all the dust sockets and connectors. I cleaned all the dust from the battery. Then reconnected the battery 10 minutes later.
Worked on the second try. I was at 0% and I have a non-removable battery, so I followed those steps, but the second time I did it, I left the power plug unplugged for 5 minutes before plugging it back in and powering back up.
I have the same problems with lenovo Y530. The main problem is "LAPTOP MOSTLY HAS BAD COOLING SYSTEM". Its 2019 and gaming laptop as lenovo legion Y530 still has the same issue. So you can never fix it through the system or hardware installed on laptop. The bad cooling system affects battery life and battery performance. So you will need extra laptop vacuum cooler, its only $3 but it does help... it extend the battery life and battery performance. The key is keep your laptop in cool temperature, dont play games too long.
YES! I tried similar but not exactly the same procedure with no results. Following your process exactly (without removing battery) took me from Plugged In, Not Charging @ 60 % to 100% in a 45 minutes. Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro about 3 years old. Thanks!
You ROCK! Everything was fine on the new-to-me Lenovo Ideapad 110 laptop until Windows 10 did an update. Then this "Plugged In, Not Charging" issue. Could find no help anywhere then stumbled across your short video. I uninstalled the drivers via the device manager, shut down, unplugged, restarted. FIXED! Thanks so much for posting this Nick!
@@wcfan623 well, i got mine done. it was because of ASUS battery health charing mode. they have 3 option, one of them was on by me mistakenly. So if you have a asus laptop go fro this.
Thank you! I try different methods that I found on internet but only yours worked!!!!.... my laptop has not-removable battery. it was shutting down, after few minutes. finally I fixed it! Thank you for your help! 1. delete battery drivers 2. remove AC cable. 3. plug in 4. turn on your laptop. done!
I have this problem, i putted my ac adpter(while the laptop is on) with the battery, when i removed my ac, the laptop turned off. Is this a battery issue or the laptop issue? The battery is new
You need a new battery, I got the same problem from plugging the cord in the wall and then unplugging it rite away, dont remember why i did that but it messed up my battery. It said 92% charged, fully charged in 6 min. And my brother has the same hp15 laptop, put the battery in his computer and it says 92%, not charging. Bad battery!
Then I think you need a new battery. Non-removeable battery laptops have less luck to follow steps to make it work. My windows 10 was not charging, then next day it still said not charging then all of a suddden the battery said plugged in charging. Maybe the battery had to cool down to charge again.. and it's working now.
My Laptop has non-removable battery, i tried these steps , i opened laptop and removed battery cable and reatached and it worked for me. Now my computer start charging. THANK YOU SO MUCH
The issue is with the upgrade of windows 10 ACPI and AC drivers, why you ask? there are many manufacturers of laptop/notebooks affected by it, from HP to ASUS and Lenovo, all having the same issue, with new equipment like mine, a 10 Month old ASUS, the amount of inquiries in all of the NET is overwhelming, so if we all have the same problem, and is only happening recently, then the common denominator is MICROSOFT windows 10 (maybe 8.1 as well) drivers. so why not asked Microsoft for a fix? if you have more that 10% charge you can use this work around, if you are at 0% you are done. manufactures should be looking at this possibility, unless they are all using the same manufacturer of batteries and many batteries are going "bad" , then look at Microsoft and make them find a solution, or your cost or returning equipment to have the battery replaced will be high. unless Microsoft is paying the cost. I noticed that you can NOT roll back the drivers, the option is grayed out in Windows 10, try and you'll see.
So how long do you think it'll be before they actualy fix it? I've been having this issue for weeks now, and this does fix it for me temporarily, but I have to do it at least twice a day cause other wise it won't charge. Can you think of a long term solution that doesn't involve waiting for Microsoft to do something about it?
hector gull Thank You, my PT2001 10 all in one did this after Windows 10 update from Windows 8, spent forever on phone with tech from Asus, nothing fixed it as battery is non removable. They quoted 445.00 dollars for fix. Your explanation makes perfect sense.
For the ones who ain't getting it, step 12 is only possible if steps 1 to 11 managed to fix it. After step 11 your laptop should be charging normally, if it doesn't that it didn't work. It didn't work on mine either. Step 12 is a normal process to ensure the charging is fully fixed not essential in actually fixing the thing.
What worked for my 2016 Dell XPS 13 was I used my older Dell power brick and Dell cord. And yes, I was searching for weeks and tried this method, along with a few other top results on Google. *Using an air duster into the charging cable male side* seems to work for a lot of folks. Word of wisdom is don't give up on finding your solution. Do accept that your laptop, battery, cable, motherboard, software, hardware, Windows, whatever, is not going to fix it for you.
This was AMAZING Nick! Thank You!!! My computer has not been charging for about 4 months and just limped along. We went through deleting all garbage installs (especially the pre-installation software not needed). I then decided to google HP Pavilion Notebook batteries not charging and came upon your utube video. What a blessing!! I thought I needed a replacement computer or new battery but your fix was PERFECT!!! THANK YOU!!! I viewed your video 3 times, 2nd time wrote notes, 3rd time had to watch again because my husband read my notes and told me my memory was failing me so rebooted my computer and looked again. My husband was correct my memory was failing. I did exactly as you showed and the reinstall was automatic and it began charging. THANKS!
Thanks for coming back and leaving your kind feedback. Glad to hear that my video was helpful in your success. Please consider subscribing if you have not already done so, to see more future videos like this one.
Wait, what? Charge up the battery 3 times when clearly my problem is that my battery doesn't charge. Do you think I'm a wizard? How am I suppose to do that?
My new laptop's battery would slowly deplete while plugged in and as the percentage charge went down it would say "not charging." I could unplug it for a few seconds and plug it back in and it would charge back up to 100%, but then start slowly depleting again and the charger would not come on unless I unplugged it and plugged it back in again. I followed this video procedure and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks so much.
The battery packs in these laptops contain a component which counts how many charge and discharge cycles the battery has done. Once you reach the maximum number of cycles the component will prevent the battery from being charged even if the battery still functions properly.
i won't be responsible but that happened to my brothers laptop and it was the charger so we bought another one and it fixed. If you have another laptop that the charger will fit check if it works on it.If it does not, it is the charger you need to fix.If it does work,it is you laptop.
I have called Dell before. Dell's tech guy told me that from the computer beeping sound he heard through phone, and he thinks it is because CMOS battery is dead. Good luck!
if u using asus ROG i found this on user manual ,According to the user manual of the G75VW series (lower screen capture) this phenomenon is normal. On newer models, when the battery charge reaches 100%, it waits to be below 95% before charging again, even if it is connected to the AC adapter. This may not happen on older notebook models and will maintain 100% battery charge while plugged in.
Thanks pal, worked for me. For others: My battery was non-removable so tried to skip the battery removal steps, but that didn't work for me. Worked for me on a Toshiba Satellite C75D laptop. Haven't tried the discharge/recharge 3X trick yet, but it is reporting 100% charge, a big jump from the 4% it was reporting just 5 minutes ago. Thanks, Nick, U da Man!!
It appears to have worked. It looks like it is charging again. Thank you so much. I was almost in tears not knowing which direction to go. I love my little HP purple laptop. It's my favorite. I can't believe how you gave the steps one by one. Another you tube I listened to only said to uninstall but that was it. I would have been totally lost if that's the only one on here.. Thanks you again.
Guys try right clicking on the battery on your screen and there should be "Dell power manager" click on that and go to advanced change and I kinda turned it all off for some reason but when I turned it back on it started to charge . Hope this helps
thank you! i searched for hours for a solution to this problem that would work for me and none of them worked except yours! honestly idk why i cant charge the battery without turning on the advanced charge option in dell power manager lite, ive had my laptop for 2 years and have always used the regular settings... im just happy to fix my laptop!
Tbh I constantly do this whenever i forgot to unplug my charger... My battery percentage max to not get into this trouble is 99 percent. And it does go 100 but it will be like this "plugged in not charging" Yes I live like this rn😂
I did this process. Still no workie. Bought a new 43 watt power adaptor. Worked good. Basically the laptop could not sense the cord was connected, despite the fact the green LED was lit and the cord energized the laptop. I saw on another video where a tech explained that there is a chip in the box the laptop needs to sense. I got a new one like the original for $8 on line. For that price it’s worth a try if you’re struggling. If you’re wrong, oh well, you have a spare cord.
Thank you so much! I was about to purchase a new battery after watching other videos, seeing that those methods did not work, until I came across this video.
Last night I left it charging and this morning it is still on 0% but it says plugged in, charging so its a faulty battery. Its not your fault, Good video!
I suggest taking a look at some other possibilities: Some examples would be: 1) A bad/old laptop battery needs replacing (unfortunately they don't last forever) the batteries life has come to an end. 2) A physical shorted out AC plug port on laptop or bad laptop AC wall charger or shorted out charging cable. 3) A third party battery management software/app running on your laptop is not working correctly. 4) And in some cases, even a bad AC wall outlet could be the culprit.
This guy is awesome! I was like I KNOW I took care of my laptop very well. I had to wait for my new laptop charger to come in after 3 weeks but thankfully this works. It now says that my laptop will be fully charged in an hour and 9 minutes. I'm also on hibernation mode. I'll follow the last steps to ensure that my battery is good
Hello. My Windows 10 tablet has this issue and the steps you gave won't fix it. On my device manager, my battery has a Intel(R) Battery Management Device, not like on yours. Any suggestions?
The solution in my case was 1. Delete all drivers from Battery folder in Device Manager 2. scan for hardware changes 3. My laptop reloaded and the battery charging started. Asus ROG gl552vw
Go to setting therefrom to Battery. Click open and click on battery saver. Then unlock the battery from laptop and keep the battery idle for hours outside Laptop. Then st the battery to laptop. it will start charging. Mine was showing 49% , I read so many ways prescribed by different side but got no effect. then I simply did the trick and it worked.
I know exactly what you mean. Sure do miss Win 7. Microsoft today doesn't accomplish anything but to create one mess after another with every "making things better" so-called update.
Like ya ikr im trying to do a vedeo with gachavere the app wont even come on my phone because it keeps saying i dont have it but when i try to install it it say it is aroudy.
Windows 10 is great but the main flaws come from installing it, I just installed it and my laptop wont even turn on because my charger doesn't charge it, I think I should buy a new charger because it wasn't charging anyways
Thank you so much for this video, my lenovo have been in deep problem with charging after recent windows 10 update, i thought it was the battery but no, then i thought it was the charger, but no also. almost bought a new battery and a new charger. then i found your video, tried it and...voila...all back to normal. battery now charging normal and operates as it should be. Thanks a gazillion
awesome this worked but with an extra step.. i have asus rog g751 which is non removable battery laptop.. if this didnt work for you, at step 7 dont regular shut down because some windows 10 laptops have the fast boot setup so hold down ur power button and hard shutdown.. take out charger wait for 30 sec then plug it back in and turn on laptop... your welcome
I see a bigger problem following those steps. There has to someone out there that knows a simple "one-click" procedure to TURN OFF that annoying pop up message "battery plugged in not charging" which is irritating me every five minutes for no reason. *I WILL SUB THE GENIUS THAT CAN HELP ME WITH THAT.* I'll never buy another Asus Windows 10 laptop again!!
ok so my charger just started working out nowhere, (while I was watching the vid and didn't do any of the steps) I'll follow up in a few days to show if it works of not
Nick this was a great fix. The first recharge of my battery after following the steps took a long time, but after the 3rd time it was just like new. Thanks man!!!
nickscomputerfix I’m an online professor and author and I can’t live without my computer and rely on the battery life of my computer quite a bit. Thanks for all you do!
I'm on a Surface Pro 4. This worked. All I did was uninstall that ACPI Compliant thing, shut down, unplug then plug back in, start up, then it was back to charging again. I should probably start unplugging the AC adapter at night and while I'm at work to let the battery cool down for a few hours.
Thanks.. worked fast and simple for an issue I was ready to go buy a new cord and battery over.. love finding the proper solution before throwing money at it.
hello, I am using an HP laptop. I am having the same issue. I tried following ur steps but it is same as before. Right after I switch on the laptop a screen appears saying that my battery needs to replaced and when I switch on its "plugged in and not charging". Can u please help me out? I
You may also want to uninstall any battery manager software in the control panel's program and features section since they may be another source of conflict... and windows 10 is capable of managing your batteries without them.
Step- 11 If this doesn't work, drop from a high elevation.

You're Great!!!!!!
Asus X509F, issue fixed.
I tried several times to fix this problem with other similar methods. This is the process that finally worked!!! THANK YOU!!!
I know that this may be old but it really helped me, I thought I was going to lose my laptop omg this really helped thank you so much I can't say how much of a life saver this channel is .Again thank you.
Worked for me on a Toshiba Satellite C75D laptop. Haven't tried the discharge/recharge 3X trick yet, but it is reporting 100% charge, a big jump from the 4% it was reporting just 5 minutes ago. Thanks, Nick, U da Man!!
My laptop's battery icon keeps saying its charging and then it blinks off to say its not charging. It happens mostly when I watch videos like UA-cam.
me too!!!!
thanks. It's worked on my HP laptop. Now I'm doing the last step of the video of discharging and recharging.
Yooo, thank you so much I've been dealing with this issue for so long! 💕
Glad you had success using my video guide. Thanks for your feedback 👌😎
YOOOOO thank you so much!!!!
I Searched Everywhere But Everyone Say, To Change Battery. But You Fixed My Problem Thank You So Much.
Glad I could help!
Yeah. You Helped Me Thanks You So Much Again. But My Battery Don't Hold Charge For Longer Can You Fix It Please.
Tbh I constantly do this whenever i forgot to unplug my charger... My battery percentage max to not get into this trouble is 99 percent. And it does go 100 but it will be like this "plugged in not charging" Yes I live like this rn😂
you're stupid.
I know this video is like 3 years old but I got to admit it helped me thank you very much sir the method actually works
👌😎
Thank you so much! I was about to purchase a new battery after watching other videos, seeing that those methods did not work, until I came across this video.
👍
Last night I left it charging and this morning it is still on 0% but it says plugged in, charging so its a faulty battery. Its not your fault, Good video!

violate Khurshid
Thanks for this, followed your 12 steps and my laptop is now charging once more. Top stuff, and thanks again ;)
You're welcome. 👌😎
So, I need to ask you: What do I do if this KEEPS happening? This is the third time I've had to do this.
I suggest taking a look at some other possibilities: Some examples would be: 1) A bad/old laptop battery needs replacing (unfortunately they don't
last forever) the batteries life has come to an end. 2) A physical shorted out AC plug port on laptop or bad laptop AC wall charger or shorted out
charging cable. 3) A third party battery management software/app running on your laptop is not working correctly. 4) And in some cases, even a bad
AC wall outlet could be the culprit.
You're a hero man. I was about to lay down $90 on a new battery after a few other methods I found online hadn't worked.
still works in July 2018! Thanks man! :DDD
👌
No it doesn't
Thank you so much for this. I simply followed your instructions and my laptop is now charging!!!
Great!
it's been 5 hours since i plugged in and it say 18% available (plugged in,charging) and it keeps staying like that
please help☹☹
So what happened
This guy is awesome! I was like I KNOW I took care of my laptop very well. I had to wait for my new laptop charger to come in after 3 weeks but thankfully this works. It now says that my laptop will be fully charged in an hour and 9 minutes. I'm also on hibernation mode. I'll follow the last steps to ensure that my battery is good
It wont let me turn it on without the battery 😭
You have yp plug the charger and turn it on
@@jadlabbb4291 I fixed the issue. The issue was the port. I replaced it.
Hello. My Windows 10 tablet has this issue and the steps you gave won't fix it. On my device manager, my battery has a Intel(R) Battery Management Device, not like on yours. Any suggestions?
thank I was worried that my laptop broke
The solution in my case was 1. Delete all drivers from Battery folder in Device Manager 2. scan for hardware changes 3. My laptop reloaded and the battery charging started. Asus ROG gl552vw
worked very nicely✌🖒🖒
IT WORKED FOR ME, MY ALIENWARE M14X R2 IS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN, THANK YOU
GMAN i got the same exact laptop, same exact problem lol. Im trying this rn.
its not working for me 😔
@@Practual YOU PROBABLY NEED A NEW POWER CABLE, OR A NEW BATTERY
IT COULD BE EITHER ONE THAT'S CAUSING THE PROBLEM
So It happened again after the update. This updates screw so bad
after 4 years you trick still working.thanks Sir
Thanks but what happens when it doesn't work ◉_◉
time to get a new batteryy or charger?
throw it out
It’s not the charger or battery as this happens after update.
I bookmarked this video for future use, thanks.
Thanks for bookmarking my video tutorial for later use.

Did work for me. I have a glitchy PC power connection and i am guessing that upset the Dell/Win10 power management.
thank you so much
Thanks much! My battery was not charging. I followed the same steps and it worked :) You saved me lot of effort and money
Thanks for coming back and sharing your success.
man Win10 sucks, no issue whatsoever with my old WIn7 laptop
I know exactly what you mean. Sure do miss Win 7. Microsoft today doesn't accomplish anything but to create one mess after another with every "making things better" so-called update.
Microsoft recommends everyone using win10 and why are you using win7 laptop?
i sure do miss win7 too but...i'm enjoying using win10
👍
Thank You!!!! That fix worked :)
Andrew Mills what kind of laptop do you have?
kaleab teka Windows 10 to have a detachable battery.
Really ?!
awesome this worked but with an extra step.. i have asus rog g751 which is non removable battery laptop.. if this didnt work for you, at step 7 dont regular shut down because some windows 10 laptops have the fast boot setup so hold down ur power button and hard shutdown.. take out charger wait for 30 sec then plug it back in and turn on laptop... your welcome
Ty ty ty 😍🤗❤
Thanks for coming back and leaving feedback. It's appreciated.👍😎
Thx a lot u saved me from 4 decades of confusion and regret :)
I completed the steps and once I reconnected the battery and charger and pressed the power button my computer won't even turn on now, please help???
If you wanted this to never happened again never run app with battery below 20% except your charger are plugged in
I see a bigger problem following those steps. There has to someone out there that knows a simple "one-click" procedure to TURN OFF that annoying pop up message "battery plugged in not charging" which is irritating me every five minutes for no reason. *I WILL SUB THE GENIUS THAT CAN HELP ME WITH THAT.* I'll never buy another Asus Windows 10 laptop again!!
ok so my charger just started working out nowhere, (while I was watching the vid and didn't do any of the steps) I'll follow up in a few days to show if it works of not
Thank you! I’ve followed your instructions and it’s charging again. Relieved!
Glad my video helped you out. Your feedback is appreciated.
Worked well, I will now follow that last instruction to charge and discharge 3x, thank you!
Nick this was a great fix. The first recharge of my battery after following the steps took a long time, but after the 3rd time it was just like new. Thanks man!!!
Thanks for coming back and leaving your kind feedback. It's appreciated.

I’m an online professor and author and I can’t live without my computer and rely on the battery life of my computer quite a bit.
😎👍
Thanks.. worked fast and simple for an issue I was ready to go buy a new cord and battery over.. love finding the proper solution before throwing money at it.
Thanks for posting your successfulness by following my suggested battery calibration steps.
Professor Nick, You saved the day. The steps taken worked like a charm. Thank you for putting this up on the University of UA-cam.
👌😎
It’s really works! My battery had been plugging but not charging for months ! Until I tried your steps ! Thanks so much!!
You saved my life...and my wedding! Thank you!!
Awesome!👍😎
hello, I am using an HP laptop. I am having the same issue. I tried following ur steps but it is same as before. Right after I switch on the laptop a screen appears saying that my battery needs to replaced and when I switch on its "plugged in and not charging". Can u please help me out? I
Thanks it worked. Tell me Why is this happening. I have a great Labtop. MSI Gaming. Should I get it looked at?

You may also want to uninstall any battery manager software in the control panel's program and features section since they may be another source of conflict... and windows 10 is capable of managing your batteries without them.
Step 1 - 5 really works! my laptop is Asus X441U non-removable batterty. Thank you!!
i charged my laptop overnight and battery is ded i think should i buy a new battery?
