One of the very few Scag Patriot how to videos but you can use smartphone flashlight while under mower...lol Great informative maintaining service intervals..! Amazing what people can learn reading service manuals and listening to dealer reps.

Nice video. Appreciate you walking through the maintenance steps. I was most interested in the servicing of the hydraulic system and was disappointed that you did not go through the air purging process. Thank you for the video.

Bill Meany because the kit comes with the hydro plug and pump, there was no purging. I left the gears in neutral and pushed the drive levers forward and reverse six time each but no air came out.

@@aaronreynolds2776 Thanks for the clarification. I currently the oil and the filters, so I will have to go through the more extensive purge process. Thanks for the video. It was very informative.

I watched this video to find out how you loosen and remove the oil drain plug. Unfortunately, you did that without describing the process. So, what tool did you use? I tried a 3/8" box wrench. Too small. 7/16' was too big. Is this a metric plug? How did you remove it?

What’s your impressions of this mower after some time using it? I am considering this Patriot 61”, a TigerCat2 61”, BadBoy Rebel 61” or a BadBoy Maverick 60”.

Good video but it clearly states in the manual for the patriot to change the hydraulic fluid at 75 or 100 hours do you really think it’s necessary to do it at 50?

Also, did you use a strap wrench to give the oil filter the final 3/4-turn?

Did you let the hydro oil get up to running temperature before draining? Just curious, I need to do my 50 hour maintenance on my patriot.

I only ran it from the back side of the barn to the front, so probably not.

Schaeffer's oil is good stuff...but , I run kawasaki oil in the kawasaki engines , because they have the proper zinc levels for air cooled engines.

My question is how is the mower 3 years later

Still amazing. I’ve adjusted the PTO air gap, oil changes, rotate sharpened blades and mowed inappropriately tall grass, weeds and brush.
      Zero complaints.

@@aaronreynolds2776 thanks, thinking of buying one, but wasn’t sure if $9500 was worth it or not. This makes my decision easier

Thanks for the helpful video. Here is another video from Hydro-gear's website on how to purge air from the system in case anyone needs it. ua-cam.com/video/3yHUizMwZFs/v-deo.html
I was also curious why you are changing the engine oil and filters so often? That gets expensive fast. Based on the manual (both Scag and Kawasaki), after the first change, the engine oil interval is every 100 hours.

You’re throwing money down the drain. What’s wrong with you? Changing oil every ten hours? Once you change the break in oil your good to go for 75-100 hrs. Your money & your mower, carry on.🤦‍♂️
