I bought the 61" Patriot with the Kohler 25 hp engine. What a grass cutting monster. It will cut grass a foot tall and taller with no clumping at 10 mph. Terrific mower.
Glad I could help. My dealer took a lot of time to explain things to me, so I thought i would pass the knowledge around. If ya need anything else let me know.
Racintodds Garage Talk have you changed the oil yet? It looks like its going to be a tight space to get to that drain plug with a screw driver to loosen it.
Yep, just did a 8 hour oil change. I took a 10 mil socket to loosen the screw and a drain pan underneath. Drained just perfect. Oil filter was a little difficult but lifted seat and made it much easier.
Good video, I bought a Patriot 52” blackout edition with the Kohler Command Pro 23.5 hp engine about a month ago. Great mower so far, I’ve got almost 20 hours on it so far and it’s cut everything I’ve put under it, 2 yards I did today had grass 3’-4’ tall and it never bogged down. Did have to double cut it though but it’s understandable being as it was that tall and very thick.
These have the same deck and engine as the Liberty. If i was spending that much, i would have upgraded to the Tiger Cat 2 with the velocity deck and the tiger eye.
Different motor. FX (true commercial engine) on Patriot. FR (high end residential) on Liberty. About $7000 for Patriot(61) and about $11,000+ TC2. If cutting commercial, I would probably also go with something with a Velocity deck, but for a single large yard (my case), I could not justify the price difference.
Cleaning under the deck a pain? I am shopping and replacing a mower that always needs scrapped out under the deck and looking for one that will be easier than this old Cub Cadet I've been using. Thx!
I just got a mower just like this 2020 model. I was using a cub cadet lt1050 for the past 7-8 years and it was a pain to mow thick grass especially wet. This thing mows like a beast. I looked under the deck and I don’t think it will have any problems with grass getting stuck in the deck because it’s basically wide open under there versus the cub cadet with it’s channeling design
I looked at this exact mower yesterday. Do the hydro motors feel adequate to you? I've heard some folks complain that the 3100 feels a bit under powered.Thanks.
Yes, feels great. No under power that I can feel or see. Take a test drive on the 60 in deck patriot it has the 3400 and see if you can feel a difference. I wanted the 60" but it would not fit on my trailer.
Thanks. I'm not able to find the 61" deck locally. I want to measure the deck as it may cause fitment issues for me also. Scag lists the 61" deck as having an overall width of 63" with the chute up. This seems really small to me for a 61" deck.

Scag man just bought my Liberty Z mower about 2months ago i love it .
This is a great and helpful review of this mower. I bought one today, this answered a few questions for me.
Cool, glad it helped.
Racintodds Garage Talk I was just trying to figure out how to disengage the rear wheels when I saw how on your video.

I really like the Patriot. I'd like to see them make one with a 48" deck to go along with the 52 and 61.
Yep, might be nice to have to get inside fences and smaller areas.
Still liking this mower? I’m looking at this one or the hustler x one.
Yes loving it, rides and cuts like a dream. Should have bought this years ago.
What’s the difference between this one and the freedom z?
@@chrisdavidson3827 The best I can guess is that it has better hydro gears and better motor. I am a big fan of the Kawasaki motors.
Good deal, thanks for the info. I wish you the best of luck with it.
So after having this for a while, do you still like it? I am getting ready to buy a zero turn and this is at the top of my list.

Well said Mike. I just would like to see a larger engine options. I have a 21hp kaw on a 52" it has always been under powered

My deck overall length is 53 1/2". I just through mowing and the lawn has never looked better. I came from a rider and boy what a difference.
Still like it?
nice mower ! do you feel it's under powered at all ? thanks
No, not at all. Mows the highest grass and does not bog down at all.
Racintodds Garage Talk
thanks , giving these a serious look.
No regrets with this purchase. I took a long time to pull the trigger. Really liked the Exmark but I think it is not as good of quality as the scag.
I want a striping kit!
