Love those country clippers especially the joy stick model sold the heck out of em to homeowners on that main feature easier to learn on always have a hand free fpr low hanging branches or a cold beverage and ya can't beat the flip up deck keep the baffles clean and the blades sharp for a pretty cut
Great video! I’m getting some steady backfiring action when under a load(thicker grass). No smoke noticed. No backfire at shut off of engine. Any idea what I need to tackle first? Thanks in advance.
3:08 we call em shop rags and we buy them by the box from our local intermediate school district where my mom works and they’re made from clean old t shirts and towels and soak up so much more than regular ones, are super cheap and also feels awesome supporting special needs children and adults. Here I thought I was clever writing the engine hours on the oil filter. Maybe you're just clever too ;) I always prefill my filters to saturate the filter media (and maybe a little extra), but that's it when they're on their side like that... which is every filter I've ever changed. I never fill it enough to spill - like you implied, that's wasteful. But I do what I can to get the oil through ASAP. Did this service at 500 hr per the manual.
Thanks for the video.. Just a quick question.. Once you find top dead center, like in the video, you start to adjust top valve . Does it stay in the exact same position to adjust the bottom valve or do you have to move the engine again?
You only need to move the engine when switching to the other head. I know in many videos they will measure one valve while the other is open and the rotate the engine to do the other one. If you are on TDC compression then you don't need to rotate the engine. Thank you for watching.
Good video, unfortunately I don't have the confidence to do the valve adjustment on my own. I suck the oil out with an extractor and then crack open the drain valve. With the Kawasaki, there's not a drop running out of the drain after I've sucked it out.
It is similar to Hondabond 4 which is a semi drying liquid gasket. It is much easier to get the cover off next time using this product. thank you for watching.
GREAT VIDEO. Can you give me your thoughts on rough idle troublshooting? I have a 12 year old Timecutter with a very similar Kawasaki engine. I am diligent about PM but have never had to work on carb or valves. . With air filter an hose off you can see a puff of fuel mix on the miss. Happens once every minute or so but not regular enough for me to expect sticking valve. Plugs are good. Some small amount of harden oil on outside of one value (just long term build up?) OEM fuel filter has always been an issue. Only fills about 1/4 way and on quick turn can run dry. Checked gas tank cap air flow for vapor lock and replaced fuel pump - seems like flow to carb is generally good on level ground. Rebuilding carb now. You think I need to check valves as well.... don't want to go where I don't have to. Thanks Second question: Off mower and linkage the carb thottle is not a free moving as the carb choke - is that by design or do I need a new carb?
I have a Kawasaki fx730v on my bad boy outlaw mower. Every since I’ve had it it started surging at 100hrs didn’t really make a difference at full throttle so didn’t pay no attention to it. Now it will die after about 20 minutes of mowing . If I let it sit for a while and come back it’ll start back up and go another 20 minutes . Any ideas what’s wrong with it?
First thing I would check is the fuel pump/filter to see if they are not allowing enough fuel flow. Since tis engine uses two ignition coils I don't think it is electrical. Thank you for watching.
Conventional 10 40. This is my opinion when you ask about oil there will be many many opinions. The main oil Kawasaki recommends is a straight 30 weight. Thank you for watching
The engine owner's manual states to run either SAE 30 or 10W40. It does require API service rating of SF, SG, SH, SJ or SL. So just about any oil will do. thanks for watching.
I have seen a bunch of these engines with Wix filters on them. I have not heard of anyone having a problem due to the filter. Most of these engine die because the oil never gets checked or serviced.
Have to be careful when using auto oil filters on small engines. Most auto filters have two valves built in. One for bypass and one for drain back. Small engine have different oil pressure than a large auto engine.
I bought a mower with this same engine, it has 2 hours on it. Seems to run fine. When I turn off the engine there is a dinging sound like a cow bell coming from near the muffler. It goes on for a minute or so then dies off. Any ideas?
The air pre filter was loaded with dust and dirt and is easily removed and can be washed and cleaned. Just a slight glimpse at the air filter? That's not enough. You need to look through the folds of the paper filter for dust and dirt. This is probably the simplest task of this inspection and you passed right over it. When you $500 carburetor starts operating poorly your gonna wish you'd cleaned or replaced that $20 part
@@RaymoreRepair Don't see how the air filter could have been replaced 5 hours BEFORE the video when its the dirty air filter IN the video that you and I and everyone else see's. It's your story though. You tell it as you see fit.....
The sealer really is not much of a concern for me as far as getting into the threads of the bolts. As far as getting the cover off next time, I don't have much of a problem with that either. The next time I remove them I will replace the gaskets. The big thing about the sealer is to watch how much you apply, it doesn't take much at all to seal. Thank you for watching.
Those are dry soo I think I blew it out. Can't remember if I did or not. They only protect the actual filter from large debris like grass clippings. I have since pulled that prefilter and cleaned it. Thank you for watching and commenting.
*I have had very good luck **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend with these plugs in my mowers with B&S engines. I am very happy with how long they last and they resist fouling.*
The weak spot of these engines isnt the engine it the horrible Walboro carbs they are fitted with ! I hjave never seen such dirt sensitive carbs in my 50 years of working on mowers and other small engines !
I found that oil filters from my old saturn 1.9 litre engines are the same dimension threads and diameter exept they are double the length as the kawaski ones so i use those , do you think theres any reason not to do that .
Thank you for the video. This is exactly what we needed to see while doing maintenance on our Country Clipper.
Thank you for watching.
I have the Kawasaki FR600V on my Cadet, looks like the valve setting is about the same as yours. Good video!
Cool, thanks

What is the idle RPM supposed to be at? I thank you great video!
3600 RPM is the spec from my manual. Thank you for watching.

Really it’s best to set the value with the other value open all the way, slower but I like it better
Thank you so much for the video! It was a great help!

The valve adjust is pretty straight forward bit it is good to know your own limits. Thank you for watching.
What kind of gasket sealant did you use on valve cover gasket? Is it an RTV silicone or is it a removable sealant?

Nice job. Thank you good citizen.
Nice Video thanks, have you had one that surges, mine just started to surge, 51 hrs on it.
Not yet! I suspect a carburetor issue for the surging. Thank you for watching.

What liquids go into the 2 small tanks under the seat?
Those are reservoirs for the hydrostat ground drive units. They use 10W30 engine oil. Thank you for watching.
Really? Most hydrostat drives on zt's require 20w-50. Preferably non-engine type

Wix 57035 will fit this engine. And yea, they are more than safe and the highest quality you can buy.

Watch out, measure the depth in side filter, can block oil flow
Best to use the Kawasaki correct filter
Engine damage is high or replacing it 2+ grand
