Whew...I became frustrated with the rudeness of the comments. I am getting my DDJ - 1000 SRT Friday... very happy to be in the 1000 SRT family... cheers Phil...Chin Up Sir... best of the day and week to you
Thanks phill for reading my comment! I had to go so I missed it until I rewatched the vod! Much love! It is worth it just for the mixer! And you can always get another midi controller for the serato fxs aka the sp1 or the midi fighter twister!
The one dislike is probably from the person who just bought the DDJ 1000 and has passed the return date. Can't wait to get my hands on this I'm still rocking the original ddj sx. Guess I waited for the right moment to upgrade.
Just to clarify for those still wondering. You can actually use Serato FX with the controller but just not natively. What I mean by that is that you can always modify midi settings to assign specific buttons on the controller to control the Serato effects. For example, you can assign any of the pads to turn on/off effects or for some people, since they don't use channels 1 and 4, they can use the EQ knobs to control effect volume. Good news is there are options but a little bit of a hassle, unfortunately.
took too long and it came out with no innovations, at this price range the better option would be the much better, more powerful, sexier all in one Prime 4.
Love the 1000, got the RB version, literally its a Nexus in a controller, never was a Serato user so i love that i can see the waveforms, DEFINITELY works with VDJ, and flawlessly, i use it everyday, like i said, i have a Nexus 2000 and switching back and forth and i swear the two are little to no difference at all, cdjs are just bigger as a unit. Its Pioneer all the way around
Thank you Phil for the review. I’m torn between the RB and the SRT version of the DJS 1000. If I use an SP1 (midi controller) to control the Serato effects, are they post fader?
Will it also work with Rekordbox or more importantly, if you own a pro license of Serato, will the 1000 work with Serato? Firmware update? That’s my burning question. I would like the option to use either Serato or RB with the same controller.
I just received my ddj100srt yesterday and I really like it. I had the sx2 for about 3 years and didn't like it that much. so I sold it and went to using my turntables for a couple of years. I really like the 1000srt mainly because of the big jog wheels which wasn't on the sx2. Thought about the sx3 but there wasn't much difference from the sx2. When I saw that 1000srt was coming out I was excited. I played around with it for about 3 hours and got very comfortable with it. I'm very impressed. The real test will be this weekend, I have a club gig Friday night and a wedding Saturday.
@@digitaldjtips Hey Phil, everything went very well this weekend. The DDJ-1000SRT performed very well. Both gigs went great. I had no problems at all. There was one minor thing, I accidentally rubbed against that button on the right side of the mixer. I just have to train my hands to look out for it.
Do you think the SRT or the RB version has more useable features? I’m currently a Serato user with DVS (Turntables) and a Nexus 2 kit. I’m trying to decide to purchase this or convert to RB.
RB version, marginally. If you want Serato features, go for an SX2 or SX3 (the former works with both Serato AND Rekordbox, so you don't have to decide!)
Hi, i need some help please. I bought a ddj 1000 today. The only driver online is for Mojave on macbook, and im running High Seirra. It picks up the controller but music is coming out of laptop instead of studio monitors. Is it the os im running on my macbook or can this be sorted out.
This may be a good question for a Mac DJ person... Cleveland Terry... Spinelli...those types...hope you get it to working...I'm getting my Mac Book 13 online...
The BPM Auto feature should've been like the s9/72 original 1000. The tech is there and had been since the 900srt. Right now it tries to guess the BPM and the algorithm SUCKS. Why didn't they set it up from the start like the s9?
Is midi mapping available for this controller? Say there's a button you don't use, and you want want to be able to use Serato's effects, could you map those effects to specific buttons? I've never used Serato on a long-term basis, so I don't know the software very well at all. Many thanks 👍
A few comments have already hit on this… I don’t see why “anyone“ is excited about this re-released controller. The first one they initially advertised runs tractor just fine with the mapping it runs record box just fine and I’m sure if they turned a 0 in to a 1 in the programming it could run Serato just damn fine. The regular one Pioneer DJ is hurting so much for cash after being sold from pioneer big box that they are having to carve up semi-decent controllers into two different versions just to make a buck, and they’re overpriced in the first place. Nothing but plastic. I bought the original, not really caring what DVS software it supported because it was closest to the professional layout I was used to in industry standard clubs and it fit great in my office next to my production gear. Minus one or two things like “smart crates“ if you look at things honestly and remove your customer bias nowadays DVS or DJ software is pretty damn close to the same thing if you’re a mix in blend or scratch DJ that uses casual FX. If you’re addicted to “Super spiral echo jerk off 1000 phaser” or what ever effect hat’s locked to one specific software, you go be you and rock that crowd with that special role knob turning that no one knows you’re doing :-) In most use cases all D.j. software is the same now. I starting with Serato scratch back when I was hanging onto technics for dear life and they’ve all been the same since. I haven’t looked at the ridiculously micro print details… Maybe D.j. pioneer put some sprinkles of BS on the side of the package detailing some different sort of statistics but we all know it’s the same controller minus a Digit or RGB light or two. Oh other than the fact that it’s “over $200 more?“ all these channels are celebrating this scam and I know there’s not much news out right now but I love you guys and I want to see you do better. There’s so much consumer abuse in modern retail nowadays and this is just showboating from them at this point. After a DJ on a professional prime mixer and player rig at the club two weeks ago I went and bought a prime 4 and I quite literally threw away the pioneer controller, giving it to my neighbors son. I don’t need a three to $6000 system… 3000 for the same system from Denon and for the same two deck and mixer system featuring extra cheap plastic and low res screens 6000+ dollars for the same thing on pioneer side… Let’s just move to Denton so club owners get the hint, we can all put it in our riders and have a better gear?
I think "all of these channels are celebrating this scam" is a little unfair. It's $100-$200 more presumably because Pioneer DJ has to pay for the Serato licence, as opposed to the original where the company owns the software bundled with the unit. Truth is as you say there is a "standard" club layout and feel, which Pioneer (ahem) pioneered and dominates, and DJs want that layout on their controllers. Additionally, especially in the US, Serato is the main software platform. Put the two together, and it's a formula that is going to please a lot of DJs. Not all - but a lot. If you take your laptop to the club running Serato and use club Nexus gear professionally, this controller is an awesome "home" version. Likewise, as you say, Denon is doing its own amazing things. People will vote with their feet. We're here to report it how we see it. We have zero financial support from any of the companies, not a penny, indeed we stopped all advertising years ago so we are able to say what we want... and we do!
Having to press shift every time you want to change the loop is annoying AF! That might be a dealbreaker for me because I use the functionality ALL the time
I always keep a update on virtual DJ software when they add to it and I always keep a eye on twitter Facebook Instagram on the hardware. The saltest one they add it was a DJ battle Mixer for Nu mark so that's new. But they will soon always keep a eye on y'all software like I do it will be there just want to put it out there. Also i'm in both group that support virtual DJ and I always keep a look out for the new hardware as well if y'all want to be add it to the group let me know give me hit me up on Facebook just look up DJDRFUNKJUICE I will add you to both group I am in that support Virtual Dj :). Keep up the work Digital Dj Tips Family and Phil cheers.
guys this is not all what it seems - its not the Flagship serato controller like the SZ2 do your research team. My DDJ-SZ is still more compatible than this model for Serato Pro software.
We haven't ever referred to this as the "flagship Serato controller" to my knowledge, because it clearly isn't. It is a quirky Serato controller of a type MANY people have asked for, but we make it very clear that it isn't the best control surface for Serato's full feature set, more a hybrid between club feel and the basics of Serato.
Our job is not to "like" or "dislike" - it is to point out features, benefits, advantages and disadvantages and help guide people to what is best FOR THEM. Everyone's different, after all.
so stupid... getting the serato suite with effect packs and then you can´t use it on the controller!!!! crap! also paying more for what? so useless ...would be easier to make the controller cheaper and then the serato user decide for themselves what they want for packs or plug in´s

Hi Dojah, you're right, you could do exactly that.
The one dislike is probably from the person who just bought the DDJ 1000 and has passed the return date. Can't wait to get my hands on this I'm still rocking the original ddj sx. Guess I waited for the right moment to upgrade.
I’m in the SAME exact boat as you. Been rocking the SX since it came out and didn’t want the incremental upgrade of the SX2 & 3

Apparently not, but haven't checked.
Digital DJ Tips Thank you. Can you test if the Serato effects are post fader? Thanks
They're not apparently - not had time to test yet.

Berner Salvador it does not work with rekordbox they said it on their Instagram
Does anybody know when this be available to buy in Australia?

You've probably already trained yourself, and will never do that again! :)
What brand cables do u use for connecting the controller? The blue and the redd cables
They're from DJ TechTools.
Can you stream to this device with Algorithm DJ pro ???
Not sure what you’re asking here
Is it possible to remap the loop function so you don’t have to hit shift to have double the loop
Possibly though we haven't done it
Can you use an SP1 with it?

Hey phill the crossfader cap look a bit bigger on the srt, is it and does it feel the same as the original 1000
It's just a slightly different (more retro to my mind) design, may be a tiny bit bigger but basically the same.

Can i working in the same time in 2 laptop with the same CD that comes with the device accessories? or only software work with one laptop?
Yes, you can use the Rekordbox licence that ships with the DDJ-1000 for a maximum of two computers :)
@@digitaldjtips Good, If i buy ddj-1000SRT "serato" can i do the same idea?
Yes :)
The BPM Auto feature should've been like the s9/72 original 1000. The tech is there and had been since the 900srt. Right now it tries to guess the BPM and the algorithm SUCKS. Why didn't they set it up from the start like the s9?
Presumably because this works across multiple audio sources?
Sx3 and 1000srt are dey the same size

Yes you can remap within Serato, there are certain limitations like jogwheels and (I believe) modifier key maps, but it is possible.
Digital DJ Tips awesome, thanks for the reply 👍
you're welcome!
Works with Virtual DJ to????
Yes it does
شكرا لك كثير

serato effects are trash anyway
get a used SP1 if you really need the serato FX. I think pio's FX is MUCH better
