@@digitaldjtips Glad you asked! The simplicity of the jog wheels information. It's more favorable to scratch DJs. Not saying it was anything wrong with the original. I am sure the DDJ 1000srt is a great controller, but the Denon Dj mc7000 unit costs about 40% less and it comes with Serato Flip, Serato Pitch 'n Time DJ and Serato Video free + Serato Dj Pro of course.
We're definitely big fans of the MC7000, you're right that it gives the SRT a run for it's money as far being a controller for Serato is concerned, that's only one part of the appeal of the DDJ though
Who actually uses the *dub echo* color effect? I find it to be a waste of an effect as it is not beat-driven, etc. I wish Pioneer would use that button for another effect that is more musical/useful/entertaining. This controller is lacking a search strip which I find very useful when I need to jump around and find a part of a record on the fly. So there's that. 😕
if you already have the 72 or the Twelve, this probably shouldn't be in your radar atm. Unless you are actually looking to move to controllers.... Those Rane products you mentioned are a scratching DJ's most advanced tools to date.

@@CharlesBronsun I hear you with the Roland/Denon stuff. If that is the case, then you should be very happy with this setup as the platters replicate the feel of Pioneer's flagship players. Lol kinda lame that pioneer would go against its customers like this. Having bought a ddj-1000 and wanting to use serato i can now pay again just to use the exact same controller with serato...
All of these pioneer controllers have the same features. At some point, upgrading will have to involve 2 decks and a mixer. If you know what you’re doing, you can make a DDJ-SB sound like you’re playing with an SZ.
Does anybody know if I buy this controller will work with reckordbox. I know the other serato controllers have backwards compatibility with reckord box . Will this one be the same ?
So Pioneer behind the game as usual. Same features as a 3yr old Denon mc7000. Well actually missing quite a few features of the mc7000. They really have lost the plot. PS: Phil, why has your Twitter account been suspended ?.
There are lots of Serato-specific features depreciated or missing, because it's reason for existence is to duplicate the functions of pro booth Pioneer gear as closely as practical.
Is the Flip Mode Function still inside of the software version that work with the ddj-1000srt? If so, their's a easy work around so Flip Mode can still be used.
No way. This was rumored and it is real. I feel like the other Pioneer Serato controllers will experience a layout change like the others. I want a DDJ-400ST lol. It will come to the market eventually. Because everyone doesn't have DDJ-1000SRT money. I was going to get an SX2. I don't know now. I want this for the layout since I have club aspirations. With this move, Pioneer will remain the club standard even though Denon is doing great things with the Prime series and the price point. Just give me a DDJ-800SRT or 400SRT to go alongside my SB2. Numark/Denon...your response?
I think you're right about the other controllers, although of course time will tell. But with these you're not controlling everything about Serato (FX, for instance) so for some, this is not going to feel like the right solution.
@@digitaldjtips I'm still thinking SX2 because cheaper and easy compatibility with Serato/Rekordbox and I can't really beat that at the price. If need be, practice on a DDJ-400.

Pioneer you missed a golden opportunity... If you had added the serato effects on the top of the controller like on the sz sx etc you would have made the best serato controller on the market
Been asking for that for quite some time. Pioneer afraid of cannibalizing their CDJ and XDJ range if they do that. I'm not upgrading anything until this controller becomes standalone.
If they really cared they could've made just one DDJ-1000 and made it compatible with BOTH Rekordbox and Serato. But why miss an opportunity to screw up users out thousands of dollars once again? And wait, don't forget to save up for the MK2 version of the DDJ-1000 coming up in a year. smh
Digital DJ Tips of course that there are technical reasons. The SRT runs in external mode and has the classic midi code set of the SX family. I have an SZ and an RZ, still 5 years later the SZ is my goto for controllers. I use virtual dj and I can run my SZ and RZ. I dont have to worry about what controller I have, I just plug and play.
Not sold on this. If one already had a DJ mixer, and most DJs do I would guess, why not just add a pair of Pioneer XDJ-700s which have MUCH better displays for £1,189.00 rather than this humungous DDJ-1000SRT Serato DJ Controller for £1,339.00? And with the XDJs you don't NEED a laptop at the gig.
I'd wager that not many DJs already own a mixer, especially digital/newer DJs. Many DJs prefer the flexibility of software over being tied to hardware features.

Yes a company that remains the absolute standard in every night club in the world and every big dance event and festival for more then a decade. That every professional DJ is familiar with and learned how to DJ with Pioneer way before the Sync button was ever invented. Who many still consider the only real way DJ's should play because they don't think DJ software is serious DJ-ing. That guys like Carl Cox who earns millions for performing around the world. Still uses the Pioneer CDJ's next to his Laptop and DJ Controller because he feels that the audience should actually see a DJ physically show something instead of just staring at a laptop. Yes a company like that is just doomed to fail. Not to mention that the DDJ is one of the most popular and best sold DJ controllers right now. There is a reason why Denon is cheaper. It's because Pioneer has earned a reputation in the DJ world that Denon can not even imagine.

Great review my friend. I it the same size as the rkb version? Will it fit in the rkb case? TIA.
Yes, it is identical in size.
Wave form and album art is not important to me, the fx section to the top now that's important for me i love using them this one don't have them at all, Im not feeling this controller at all, nice video bro, blessings.
I feel the same because with my DDJ-SX, I can use two or more effects at the same time due to the mappings....
which one is better ddj-1000SRT or DDJ-SX3?
Check this out www.digitaldjtips.com/2019/10/pioneer-dj-ddj-1000srt-vs-ddj-sx3/ :)
I already like this controller better than the original.
What in particular, djseasickbaby?
@@digitaldjtips Glad you asked! The simplicity of the jog wheels information. It's more favorable to scratch DJs. Not saying it was anything wrong with the original. But with us, the more simple it is, the better. Also, Serato is a more Turntablist friendly software than Rekordbox. The fact that the start of every cue is at "twelve o'clock" and it shows on the jog wheels display, is perfect. It's not too much going on in the jog wheel. And, I just really like it.
Gtfoh i have the original. Rekordbox & the features you get are unmatched.. serato wins on ease of use. But you get way more bang/buck with original ddj1000. Ill wait till 2nd version
@@MrInternationalSound Rekordbox is a very nice dj software. But , only speaking as a turntablist, Serato is a more friendly software to use with turntables. Also, Serato has the prepare option for people who want to request a song that you could forget without it. Record box hasn't added that feature yet. If I was just making a mix to upload online without turntables, I would favor Rekordbox. But with turntable in the public, I feel more comfortable with Serato.
@@seasickvision but the original has more features in the jog wheel.....wave and cue points you gonna miss
Oh hell nah! After I spent all that money and went through hell with going to Rekordbox DJ! The DDJ-1000 BETTER get Serato compatibility. I love the controller, but damn Pioneer!
Sadly I think that isn't going to happen. Did you see our comparison though? You may be better off with Rekordbox! ua-cam.com/video/9GdzcZwcDs8/v-deo.html
I don’t have the pioneer ddj 1000 srt I have the pioneer ddj sx2 but I heard the 1000 srt is an awesome controller
It definitely is!
How can I fix the audio on that thing because when I plug in to my new MacBook Pro there’s absolutely no sound how can I fix please
We'd need a lot more info to help with that, take a quick video of your issue and make a post in our support group: djtips.co/family :)
Good Information! Question, I use a ddj sz, but I attempted to use my friends ddj-1000's, so I plugged in thinking serato would automatically pick up the controller but it didnt. So I went to serato and downloaded the controller and still nothing. You think its because I need to update the hardware?
So it's a DDJ-1000SRT?
@@digitaldjtips Yes
If you haven't already then update to the latest Serato and then check for any drivers on the Pioneer website
Just got mine a couple days ago. Having a problem with mine hoping someone can help. As I’m mixing my volume just stops working. The mixer levels shut off and no sound comes out of my headphones. (Not sure if sound would come out of speaker as I’m in an apt and can’t play music aloud.) the jog displays show the song still playing. Any ideas on what it could be? (Running on a MacBook Air just installed latest Monterey update and also latest serato update) TYIA
No sorry, sounds really strange.
I've owned both and I sold my mc7000 because I preferred the jog Wheels on the 1000srt better
Is it possible to select on which deck you want to apply the beat fx or is just for the master?
Yes, you can choose - there's a knob for it.
Do you think changing from a DDJ SZ to DDJ 1000 SRT is worth it or prime 4 a better choice.
They're totally different systems. Really, if you're that unsure, stay with the SZ - it's a great controller!
I have the ddj 1000 & P4 I LOVE the Denon PRIME 4
The SZ is a beast still, and soundcard is top notch. Also is a TRUE hardware mixer, not a midi mixer like ALL other Pioneer controllers.
@@burnyabad thanks mate.
@@digitaldjtips Thank you. I will stick with the SZ for now.
Solid unit. Might be able to justify a jump from an SZ, but would miss those FX knobs at the top. Oh, and what happened to Strip Search?
You hold the search button & move the jogwheel & it skips through the track
Enda Gallagher awesome. Probably better to use that space on the unit for other items anyways.
HI ...can i use my regular serato with this? I have yet to upgrade to Pro Trust issues
No, you need the newest Serato
Who actually uses the *dub echo* color effect? I find it to be a waste of an effect as it is not beat-driven, etc. I wish Pioneer would use that button for another effect that is more musical/useful/entertaining. All in all, it's nice that they responded to the Serato massive and delivered what they wanted.
I have to disagree with you - I love it!
@@digitaldjtips cool. maybe we can see a video with some creative uses for it? unless I'm doing really trippy music I can't think of any musical way of really taking advantage of it... but you could probably change my mind...
Try using it to stab in single words on an acapella.
I have the DDj 200
Really love this controller. I purchased one but noticed my jogwheels were extremely loose and had to much play in them. On the SRT group on fb I found that many other users had this same problem as well as the Rekordbox version. Seems to be a quality control issue with certain units imo. Mine is being sent back for a replacement. Love the features though 👌🏼
That's a shame, hopefully you'll get on better with the new one!
JOEY is it possible to use ddj 1000 (old one ) with serato if you own Serato dj pro? i'm missing 'real 'color tags on my playlist and library management from Serato when i'm using my DDJ 1000
No, it isn't.
@@digitaldjtips i hope that they will come with a new firmware update for both devices just Like DJM S9
Sneaky Sneaky Mr. Joey, I asked you about this a couple days ago on Twitter... lolz.. Now I wanna trade in my SX3 for this.. Great review as always.
I'd think twice about that... you'll lose a lot of FX control, for instance (although Pioneer DJ's hardware FX are nice...)
What's better for searching on records, this or the Rane 72+a twelve turntable? I need to scratch on records for clients but also want to utilize to MpC pads on the Rane. Any comparison help is appreciated and thanks for sharing
@@djbis I have the Roland and Denon, but hate the small platters for scratching and juggling. I was just impressed years ago by a pioneer's larger platters I tried at guitar ctr
@@CharlesBronsun I hear you with the Roland/Denon stuff. If that is the case, then you should be very happy with this setup as the platters replicate the feel of Pioneer's flagship players. As far as non-motorized platters go, this is where you'll find the best performing platter I think. Both the size and feel should suit you.
@@djbis meant to say, best for scratching lol. My bad
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS , Thank You Pioneer. Take My Money........
It appears that it is actually available as of now, too, so off to the shops you go!
Lol kinda lame that pioneer would go against its customers like this. Having bought a ddj-1000 and wanting to use serato i can now pay again just to use the exact same controller with serato...
Very true I am a ddj-1000 owner, will there be a free upgrade available to current owners?
No, it's a different model, rather than an upgrade.
That’s what happens when you are impatient lol
If you wanted to use serato you wouldn’t have bought the original 1000 😂
@@stephenlozada7158 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Itˋs also support currently Rekordbox DJ?
No, you need the original DDJ-1000 for that.
Why did they tie the Master Out to the Booth Output? So If you turn down the master it turns down the booth send. FAIL!!!!
How much?
Can you flash the original version to work with Serato ?
No idea!
All of these pioneer controllers have the same features. At some point, upgrading will have to involve 2 decks and a mixer. If you know what you’re doing, you can make a DDJ-SB sound like you’re playing with an SZ.
That's true you can, although that's not to say that a pro feature set isn't useful.
you can, but you have a low end sound card vs a high quality sound card.
@@burnyabad I think it's time for an upgrade. Nexus status
DDJ-400 sounds fine
Sampler volume is not working?
Strange, check out question 2 here: faq.pioneerdj.com/product.php?c=6876&lang=en&p=DDJ-1000SRT&t=faq
Simone Liberalli - Landslide at the time. 😊 I am from Finland.
just awesome, Thank you!
No problem!
Still thinking about how Serato Video effects will work since there are no knobs up.
Good point, something we'll take a look at.
@@digitaldjtips Maybe we have to use an SP1. :/
I’m sure you can map them somehow.
serato video effects? Serato has not invested 1 minute of time into serato video in 6 years
Thanks for the review! Gastos nanaman to 🤣👊🏼
Does anybody know if I buy this controller will work with reckordbox. I know the other serato controllers have backwards compatibility with reckord box . Will this one be the same ?
No, it won't.
Wish you could change the timing on the screens to atleast show how many beats you have until your next cue point comes up or something
Chase Mason that would be really useful
So Pioneer behind the game as usual. Same features as a 3yr old Denon mc7000. Well actually missing quite a few features of the mc7000. They really have lost the plot.
PS: Phil, why has your Twitter account been suspended ?.
i really dont see a point to this product...and this is coming from a DDJ-1000 fanboi
We are working with Twitter to get our account sorted out.
I wish pioneer makes a ddj 900 or 600 with those same size jogs with a 2 channel mixer 🤪
Interesting idea!
It looks like the ns6ii and traktor s4 mk3 had a very expensive baby
Geordie 😂😂😂
I have never messed with my fx knobs
What happened to the Flip Mode Button?
There are lots of Serato-specific features depreciated or missing, because it's reason for existence is to duplicate the functions of pro booth Pioneer gear as closely as practical.
Is the Flip Mode Function still inside of the software version that work with the ddj-1000srt? If so, their's a easy work around so Flip Mode can still be used.
Yes, it will be.
Sweet, thanks for the replies back.
12:30 says it all. It's not a deal breaker but not a worthwhile deal for me.
Agree, I think the SX2 is a great all-rounder for those reasons.
@@digitaldjtips Just add the SP1 and you can control everything including the effects, and the extra set of pads can control ch 2 and 4 for a more intuitive 4 player experience.
Good point DJ Peter, thanks!
How does the screens looks when using with rekordbox? Just curious
Look at the "7 things" video we posted today, it has a comparison.
It’s basically an updated sz. Thank god the stupid noise effects are gone and replaced by djm still beat effects
wow very nice
Pioneer you missed a golden opportunity... If you had added the serato effects on the top of the controller like on the sz sx etc you would have made the best serato controller on the market
jamie campbell agree! I think they are able to be midi-mapped?
Cool. Where is the stand alone edition
Wouldn't put it past them to release one at some point...
Been asking for that for quite some time. Pioneer afraid of cannibalizing their CDJ and XDJ range if they do that. I'm not upgrading anything until this controller becomes standalone.
@@michaelciavarella697 what do you use currently
They'd probably tell you the XDJ-RX2 is for that.
Power.you bro.
👌
@@digitaldjtips ayos
If they really cared they could've made just one DDJ-1000 and made it compatible with BOTH Rekordbox and Serato. But why miss an opportunity to screw up users out thousands of dollars once again? And wait, don't forget to save up for the MK2 version of the DDJ-1000 coming up in a year. smh
José Silva exactly, really sad to see this trend of exclusive devices
To be fair, there could well have been technical reasons - we can't be 100% sure about that.
Digital DJ Tips of course that there are technical reasons.
The SRT runs in external mode and has the classic midi code set of the SX family. But the SZ was exactly like this (external mode/SX codes) and it was OFFICIALLY supported by all 4 major softwares!! So its clear there are strong politcs in place
github.com/pestrela/music_scripts/tree/master/signal_flows
it's funny how Virtualdj been had all these features in it itself with no matter what controller you use hahahahahaha
Virtual DJ is the Master DJ software. That's a fact.
too little too late, plus at that price range youd be an idiot not go for the prime 4 instead
What's the price tag on the Prime 4?
@@djvibedjservices an extra $500, which if youre looking at the upward of 1k controllers, you have to be a working pro. Pioneer does it again they just rehash a product a year or two later with no new additions. I currently use the DDJ sx2 I have been waiting so long on the sx3 and when it finally came it was the exact same thing plus a mic Channel and onboard effects. meanwhile in that same time frame Denon has been hard at work on groundbreaking controllers
DJ Dash DJ Gig Logs how is the engine software for Denon?
I will pass on this one
I think I am more partial to the DDJ SZ/ SZ2
What is it about them that makes you feel that way?
Since l have a DDJ SZ ... I have no need for this they waited too long to bring it out
It almost seem the same other than the jog wheels touch sensitivity and the buttons at the top that's no longer there...(Bummer). I don't see the worth in spending the extra money.
O my goodness , when I saw 1000SRT I thought this is an upgrade of the previous DDJ-1000 . . . but then I realized its a down grade LOL (just kidding, but Recordbox will always rule) : )))
I just bought the sx3!!!! 😓
They're not the same though - the SX3 gives you full control of Serato's FX, this has none. Both have plusses and minuses.
i have an sx3 its a beast of a controller... i love it...
@@flipsyder Me too! I love it! I was going to buy the 1000 (rekordbox) but the sales man told me that serato is more stable and reliable so I bought the sx3. I am very pleased and happy with it!
Good on you Michael!
I got the sx3 I had seen the 1000 but for my needs could not justify the purchase
There's no PING PONG
Let me guess, I bet pioneer after all the Dj like my self will go and buy this controller, six they are gonna release the SRT2 with full display. I only been waiting for this controller since 2k16 and been holding in to my SX2 EVER SINCE, I like it and i will buy. but pioneer should of gave all at ones, but again is all about marketing and making more money.
I am pretty sure they won't release an SRT2 with full dispaly... but you could be right!
o gosh i just bought a ddj-1000 :/
That's cool, they're both awesome.
Digital DJ Tips and now i am happy that the ddj-1000srt isnt right for me and i got my ddj-1000 for a dirt cheap price lol
Hmmm 👀😏
That means owners of the DDJ1000 will never have Serato on it
That is true.
If you don’t get a unoffical MIDI mapping for it
@@user-sz2bi9mj6l any leads
No waveform... What? Gtfo.
Why would you want the waveform in the jog wheels when they’re displayed on serato ?
Not Impressed
@Joey Santos I feel u. Is the price the same as the original?
Bit more.
Pioneer is over - they sold of 'DJ and you can see why. Plastic poor quality with poor sound, no innovation and Denon - oh dayum Denon - pro kit is legit half price and twice better. Lets move on like we did from techs. What keeps us current is not falling into that old trap of sticking with inferior gear. It's time.
It's because Pioneer has earned a reputation in the DJ world that Denon can not even imagine.
sorry, but waveforms missing...
DJ MAT .live First piece complained “if it was for Serato I would buy it but I don’t like Rekordbox”. Now that they make it for Serato its “sorry no waveforms”..... People always find a way to complain and bi*** about something. You shouldn’t rely on waveforms anyways.
As much as I wanted this controller to finally come out, I knew they would slap some ridiculous price tag on it and include unnecessary features, but then again all serato controllers are overpriced. This controller really shouldnt exceed $1000 usd sorry
