What a great review! One of the most comprehensive I've watched of any timepiece! Placed my order on the black version. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🙏
I agree that this watch is a breath of fresh air. Bravo CW
Absolutely. Exited to see if this is a design language or watchmaking direction they expand on
Really well done review! Super informative and fun to watch. And what a lovely shade of blue. I plunked down a deposit today on a "viola" dialed model (due to be delivered a year from now). You are so fortunate to have purchased one when you did!
Very cool watch. Didn’t see that coming. It was a very bold move making something like this being a micro brand. Hope that the big brands learn something from this
Absolutely. To me this watch makes Christopher ward more independent than microbrand. Exciting to see fun things at attainable prices
No logo makes it more interesting. This is a great hit for CW, probably the most interesting watch this year by far. Great review
I love how this dude just pulls up that Breguet out of absolutely nowhere like it’s nothing LOLOL was a boss move: 13:28
Thanks for the review! Keep up the good work. This is a very interesting watch that has caught the attention of the watch community!
And thank you for watching 🙌🏻
I like your review very much, it's very thorough.
Fantastic long review! Thanks for all the straps too. Bravo
Thank you glad you enjoyed
Great review!
Very comprehensive review Like how you put on different straps.
Thank you!
Really exciting to see the in depth report you always provide. I’ll admit I was fearful of a macro-trastrohe, but good on them for a pretty impressive job with the detailing. I had not noticed the bird design when it came out, and what a lovely touch both visually and obviously thematically. Was hoping for a Breguet comparison…and I mean c’mon, you had to. how many people own both of those? Only a few hundred thousand…maybe less! Anyway…yeah, it came out as favorably as it could next to that masterpiece. Would I still prefer the Breguet? yes, but no knock on this one. Surprised it wore so well on you too. Really enjoyed your strap pairings, but mostly the Veblenist. and we appreciate you scratching it for effect. This is one of those that I really love being shown, even if it’s not something i’d covet. Great job as always Xavier and I did type this on my notepad in case it disappears.
Glad to see one of your comments finally go through!
The bird really is a nice cherry on top isn’t it. And yes the Breguet comparison was a must. I was wearing the Breguet the first time i saw the Chris ward and was just taken aback by the price differential but the not so clear design difference. We’ll see if either end up ultimately staying 🤷🏻♂️
And I’m curious is the design of this one a being a little too modern for you or is it the dimensions that throws you off the piece?
@@theknightswatch to be honest, if I was going this design route, I’d want either Breguet heritage, or MB&F perfection ( which I’ll never afford). But let’s see. They might come out with a dial I can’t resist. Like you mentioned, a fumé might be stunning.
@@michaelfierman3256 that’s fair! I do think hopefully Christopher ward will come out with something even more mind blowing in this series.
Love this watch and this brand. I have 3 CW watches and just can say they are super. Regarding the Bel Canto, I just miss something in the dial about the brand, very soft but something. But again congrats CW!
nice! a suede strap fan here.
Your Breguet is insane, btw. Wild piece.
Thank you it definitely is a special one
Crazy watch. What a home run from CW.
Agreed great release
Nicely detailed presentation.I ordered a Rosa dial version on a brown strap yesterday when the new colors were released.
I got the viola with a black strap. Deposit
@@bigd1997 It's going to be crazy fun on the wrist. I hope they produce and deliver much earlier than 2H 2023.
I hope so. I ordered the moon glow to be delivered in Jan 2023 when I found out the bel canto was sold out. Much to my surprise, I got the email for the deposit on the bel. So I ordered this. More pieces than I wanted but WTH
@@bigd1997 Excellent choice. I was thrilled when the 2nd run was announced and preordered the viola as well. In my personal opinion, although I’d be more than happy with any of the colors, the viola is easily the most attractive.
I couldn’t decide on the bracelet/strap. I eventually decided to officially preorder the titanium bracelet, for, practical reasons, with a confirmed, “verbal” order with CW for the purple band upon release. I feel that the purple band emphasizes the viola dial, but I also seriously considered the black, for similar reasons. Overall, it’s not a bad day when there are so many options - all of which would be excellent on their own. Enjoy your watch!
P.S. The Bel Canto definitely inspires creativity. I’m curious what a teal band would look like on the viola version - a bit of a 1990’s effect - certainly not a timeless combo. It could add more pop, actually detract from the dial or simply be too busy. It’ll be a fun, interesting experiment for the future.
@@a1nelson thanks for your great analysis. I chose the black as I didn’t want the strap to distract from the dial and since most of the strap would not be visible, I just went with the safe colors
Thanks for the review. The really long strap might be a downside. Maybe I will remove the holder when mine arrives. For the macro flaws, hopefully that is only with the pre produced models. Mine will be produced in feb 23. Hopefully the get a bit of practice, because that looks mostly like assembly flaws.
you have the best straps
Just managed to get a blue one to go with my collection
Can anyone provide some feedback on the ''loose watch sound'' when hitting the desk etc.? Does it make it feel cheap? Or is it a one-time thing? If it feels like the mechanics are loose, then that's a big no-go for me. Therefor amazing review!
I won't complain about the finishing flaws regarding its price, design, functions and sound. It's definitely a great release in 2022.
Agreed the pros outweigh the cons for sure
I ordered purple on titanium strap!
CW is no longer a micro brand. They produce an incredible range of luxury watches at incredible prices! I have been to Maidenhead and bought a watch in the showroom. It's a good experience and you get tea or coffee while you peruse the range. Great watches, Great quality, Great Prices and Great people. The Bel Canto is truly beautiful...
This could be the Segway into a simple quarter repeater chiming every 15 minutes or once every half hour. Don’t need a minute repeater here. But to keep it simple enough at the same time a chime every 15 minutes would be great.
Beautiful watch for the price, and great review!
I'll trade you for Laurent's RQ 😁
Absolutely man and Haha you grab it off him and you got a deal
A review of the new farer classic chronograph especially the magenta one would be nice
Not going to be reviewing that one just because don’t want to spend that much on a farer and sell it and lose a good chunk just for the review. I did get to see a couple of the series at windup though. The dial was my favorite and it wore fairly well. Of course a little thick since it’s a chrono but very compact
Which watches have held up the best in terms of finishing for the price point?
Thank you for the review Sir Knight. It's fine to call it a gong! You don't have to mark "HAMMER*" every time 😄
Thank you ! And I record everything unscripted so sometimes a word just sticks in my brain. I feel like gong isn’t the right term so just corrected it because why not haha
I really enjoyed the *hammer (s)
@@michaelfierman3256 haha then the mistake is worth it now
After seeing it in the flesh; which would you choose from the new color scheme between the viola or nero??? I have one on order but still deciding.
Hard to pick I think viola will be more interesting but the Nero more classic and maybe a bit monotone but it will let the dial dimensionality stand out nicely
@@theknightswatch thank you!!!
Pedantic but I don’t think it’s technically skeletonised it’s just structured in a way to have some of the movement above and below the plate
My Bel Canto does not appear to have the macro flaws shown. I think there were 3 media samples and they were made before the customer watches. Is this one of those three? The edge of one screw isn't perfect but there are no scratches evident even under macro. The rattle does seem to be common to the design. The keeper retaining system is too short for anyone with less than 7" wrists.
Mine is a full production piece I purchased not a press model. So seemingly just unlucky with the finishing
@@theknightswatch Oh that sucks. I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of it.
I wonder if CW has any plans to make a smaller version or if that's even possible. It would fit me but its just not a size that I would feel comfortable wearing. Or maybe I'm just saying that to make myself feel better after missing out, who knows 😂
I was thinking the same. 38mm would be sweet!
Another microbrand/indy put to the, "knights", sword under your macro. I enjoyed your critque. You reviewed it objectively like any other watch. For me, dust cant be unseen.
Haha unfortunately so. Just listened to the talk with watchfinder on how supposedly a lot of the bridges are turned away for QC issues on this watch. Interesting
Will you be sending this back for repair for some of the QC flaws you noticed?
No to me it’s nothing that is major enough to make a fuss about. Probably could send it back but don’t know how much better it would come back
Those sounds you're hearing on the inside are called microphonics.
What's the model number/name of that Breguet?
Breguet tradition 7027
I appreciate what CW is trying to do. But they over emphasized the chime movement way too much. The result is that it's now difficult to even tell the time because of the miniature clock.
so can a non watch person mistake it for an aliexpress especially with no obvious branding?
Probably, but also I don’t think there’s many non watch people who would know purely ali express watches and not heard of Christopher Ward.
This watch is going to sell for a significant premium within 12 months
Any plans to do the CW Sealander in 36mm?
Yep that one should be out within the next month.
@@theknightswatch Awesome, big fan of your reviews.
@@christianbedoya7880 appreciate it Christian! Thanks for watching
"Style over function" - I'm afraid I think it is hideous (personal opinion only).
are you kidding me, you need to put a $1500 deposit to get the watch in 2 years!? Lol
From what I can tell it’s January 2024 and obviously thats just because theres people that ordered it when it was first available and are getting delivered later this year. Something like this is made in batches not a million at a time
Nice watch, hideous strap.
Ruins the whole watch.
The more ya know, thanks
the finishing is not that good
