I don't get the prx hate, it's an amazing watch. Perfect for pretty much any occasion, wears extremely comfortable, offered at a very reasonable price point...I own a lot of watches and my prx is my favorite hands down
Bought mine in summer of 2023. Powermatic 80 silver/green waffle. For such a simple clean watch I have gotten so many compliments. It’s such a versatile piece goes with any outfit, and comes in so many different looks to suit your style. One of the best watches for the price!
I'll clarify for all. Prx automatic has eta 2824 version 2. Eta 2824 Swiss movement belongs to many entry to mid Swiss watches. Older tag n omega used eta 2824 movement. Excellent value for 1000 dollar watch
Prx is undoubtedly the best among them, but why not Citizen as an alternative? I am a Tsuyosa owner and I am very pleased with it. It has a problem-free mechanism. I think Citizen meets the expectations more than enough. I don't think there are many differences between them.
I have worries about the plastics parts in the movement, but I really like the waffle dial and the metal around the date. Do you think the movement is reliable despite the plastic parts? I wouldn't mind having to go exclusively to the official Tissot service in the future. The truth is that I always prefer to go to official services.
The plastic isn’t under hundreds of pounds of force. Plus it’s still a 2824, one of the most common movements ever made. Finding replacement parts during a service couldn’t be easier
I have several Tissot watches with this plastic escapement, the oldest of which is now 5 years old and has not yet been serviced. The all run within the exact same +5 Seconds a day and I had no issues at all yet. A full service is 220€ at my local Tissot AD and they will just replace the whole movement. You can also upgrade the movement to a higher grade Powermatic 80 or other 2824 based movement without plastic parts.
Thank you for the question. Using plastic pallet fork might sound concerning, since escapements need the most maintenance because wears the most, regardless of material but using plastic in the escapement can actually require less frequent servicing because they need less lubrication and create less friction. Nevertheless ,from what i know, Tissot and Swatch Service Centers often replace the whole movement during servicing. These used movements are then reconditioned and put back into other Tissot, Swatch, and even some Omega watches. However, owning this watch for over two years now, i didn't notice any issues whatsoever. Regards
I'm hoping for Tissot to release a Mother of Pearl waffle dial in the 40mm PRX Automatic 80. If not by next year I may pull the trigger on the Ice Blue or regular Blue dial :)
