Soken: "I heard you like leitmotifs so here's all the major ones of Shadowbringers done in the style of Doma Castle with a little Prelude at the end cuz why not." Why is this so funky though?
This one of those songs I will NEVER get sick of hearing! Soken has really showed his entire ass this expansion with pretty much every track and I absolutely adore him for it. Keep up the excellent work.
"Kung Fu Grandpa" Ranjit was the most underwhelming adversary from this expansion. Scions run away from him so many times because he is so "strong". He survives the collapse in the temple and Thancred special cartridges but then he just die on the floor and no one even notices this when they go to Vauthry chambers...
@@KakaowyKruk Ran'jit was playing the Storge foil to Thancred, essentially showing Thancred his reflection in how he was treating Minfilia/Ryne: as a tool rather than a real person, when Minfilia told him to, essentially, protect her and teach her as if he was her father. We learn of Ran'jit's motivations, backstory, and personality throughout the expansion. And once Ran'jit's role in the story was over, he was taken out by a WoL who was done fucking around. If there was one nitpick for the story, I agree that it's definitely Ran'jit. A death scene would've done him justice given the depth they had just showed him by him stating that he was not under Vauthry's mind control, and followed him because he truly believed the world had seen enough suffering.
I see a few people lamenting this playing endlessly in the second leg of Kholusia. Here's the thing though: would everything leading up to Mt. Gulg have felt particularly heroic if the dreary everlasting light theme was playing the entire time? I contend that this theme is a huge part of why this entire section of the expansion worked brilliantly. Trying to do something as utterly ridiculous and absurd as making a giant talos to reach into the heavens suddenly becomes amazing and possible. Bringing the disparate and fearful people of Norvrandt together becomes real with this theme. Declaring you and your friends, proudly and unironically, the saviors of the world comes across not as campy and trite, but as fervent and true, all because of this theme. Every time this theme threatened to get old and dull, we would do something else, achieve a new goal, bring salvation one step closer and it would all click again.
Wow, people complained about that? I LOVED that this played during that section. So many goosebumps, I felt SO engaged in the story. I was so sad when it stopped playing but I understand why
It's a lot more fitting, but I've got to be honest. This song gets pretty tedious after the third or fourth loop, but that could just be a personal thing.
I like how the FF prelude arpeggio is featured so many tracks in this game, really giving it the cohesion to feel like a true Final Fantasy game. Here it's across most parts in the background, but most noticeable at 1:59
This is one of my favorite themes in the new expac - it never fails to get you pumped up. Considering you hear in a certain area the entire time, it's a good thing it's so infinitely listenable.
During that first scenario when this music starts playing, it just kind of amps you up. It makes things feel epic and that you are doing something important and are just an all out badass. At least that is how I felt playing.
This song playing back in the Job Actions trailer hyped me up so much in the sense that this theme really is THE song that represents the feeling of Shadowbringers: dangerous and helpless at first, then hopeful and powerful
I found myself again saying before the expansion, "how can they possibly top this music, it's got to be impossible" But yet again, Soken proves me wrong, by far the best music yet, the fact it gets better and better with each expansion, just shows how much of a genius Soken is
@@Jadeykins83 Nobuo only composed the main themes (Answers/Dragonsong/Revolutions) and the 1.0 OST. Soken composed everything else, including the Shadowbringers main theme

The feeling of fighting alongside your friends in trying to save people, knowing you could very well be at the end of things was breathtaking. I was a white mage at the time, so that only made me feel like I had to watch over everyone even more. Incredible game.

The best part where this plays is in the cutscene towards the end of 5.3, when WoD is running through Lakeland. It's just so heroic, yet filled with anticipation, dread, worry. It screams "high stakes" and I love it. Definitely one of my favourite shadowbringers tracks.

It's more fair to say Hades is another iteration of the Shadowbringers leitmotif, with a really big emphasis on the notes corresponding to "The End" in the lyrics, giving it a very climactic feeling that the song is literally yelling at you that it is The End. Which you can hear in Shadowbringers, various boss musics, Innocence's music, the day themes of Crystarium and Eulmore... In the Crystarium's case, there is an emphasis on the part of Shadowbringers that echoes "We fall" many times but with optimistic instruments, as if to echo "We rise".
