Catherine J.G if i remember correctly, the sound is so different because the dev team wanted to write the story of the warrior of darkness and not the continuation of the warrior of light’s one. As we go to the First, Souken wanted to express the new step that we take as a character, in ARR our sole objective was to save Eorzea, in Heavensward we had to end a 1000 years old war that had nothing to do with us where the « villain » just went trough tragedies after tragedies, in Stormblood we take part in 2 revolutions to liberate 2 countries from the empire, and now we must save not one but 2 worlds. The sense of urgency kinda went crazy all of a sudden hence the change in music.
This is still the best dungeon in ShB just for the final cutscene where you pierce the sky and the reactions of everyone who were born into a world of endless light seeing the night sky and the stars for the first time in their lives. Even the final battle can't top that.
The dungeon also has that 'Cresting the hilltop' moment where you can actually see the damage all of this is causing the world. How some Sin Eaters can descend on a village and its land and absolutely just DESTROY things. For the average people there it look so utterly *hopeless.* Because not only do the sin eaters kill and devour peoples Aether, but aside from that, if you take the wrong kind of hit even in killing a Sin Eater, you may end up infected, only to be sent to Amh Arang most likely... If even that. It's a very sobering moment in the journey, showing you what you're fighting against in this world, and letting you know what you're *really* fighting for.
Something about seeing the Crystal Exarch, who always wields a staff, go in, brandishing a goddamn sword and shield made of magic, makes him more badass than he has any right to be.
When I crested that hill and saw those open fields filled with sin-eater cacoons and the smoke & fire from the town in the distance I literally said out loud, "Holy shit!"
I ran through Holminster Switch about 30 or so minutes before the first big maintenance shutdown occurred. The sense of urgency in the music reflected my whole party’s tension in going through and completing each encounter through this disaster. I started Shadowbringers literally a few days ago, and I'm still reeling from just how good this song was for being your first dungeon upon starting the expansion, and holy shit, the urgency of this dungeon was portrayed so fucking well. The music really helps this too, the suspenseful buildup feels like the enemy taking over the area, only for silence to follow for but a moment before the drop, with the urgent, yet somewhat triumphant music that follows signifying that the only ones who can bring an end to the village's plight has arrived. And then there's the bosses you have to face, not only a lightwarden, but the sin eater which turned Alisaie's friend, as well as Tesleen herself. Everything here is just... *Chef's kiss* And that's why this is one of my favourite dungeons I've ever ran through, and I can't wait to see all that Shadowbringers has to offer!

Not only to stop the flood of light, but to end the suffering of those who were turned into sin eaters and corrupted by the light... Well done, SE... This expack is great. Great first dungeon. Shows how serious the Sin Eaters are when you see that they're very indiscriminate with what they attack and a convert into their own. The part where the first dungeon boss killing the bear turning that into a sineater and the one sin eater that out right killed the 3 people infront of you and turning them into sineaters.
Coming back at the end of the expansion's life span to just appreciate how good of not only an intro dungeon this was but how amazing this theme just hits
This theme just sounds downright sinister and foreboding, yet dramatic at the same time. Really caught me off guard when I first heard it, but I knew I was going to absolutely love Shadowbringers music upon hearing this.
Absolute banger of an OST, it's also so...hopeful, like when the piano and drums come, it feels like shit has hit the fan, but here we are to save the day.
I like to run this dungeon sometimes in the morning because it reminds of when Shadowbringers launched I stayed up and didn't get to the dungeon until like the sun came up, its a very good first dungeon.
Anyone else get the vibe of Hamartomania from the beginning notes? Love Soken and his ability to incorporate amazing tracks from past expacs! Love this theme.
This is how you do a first dungeon of an expansion - you spend some time figuring out the world is on the brink of death and all of its inhabitants are just trying to survive one more day. There are some that are doing tangible good for the world that you meet only to watch one of them get murdered and transform into a mindless beast. Then this dungeon starts, it's the theme of Lakeland where you first arrived but it's distorted and ominous. The environment is infested with mindless monsters. The specific sineater that you watched kill that good person before is the first boss, the good person is the second boss with barely a shred of their humanity left in them, the village is on fire, countless dead, the few survivors run past you trying to get away and then the final boss. You kill it only to find a harrowing discovery, the one who slayed it absorbs the unfettered light from it and transforms to take its place. Only you don't turn, because you're the warrior of light. Finally, this world has a chance and finds hope again.
I love how for the most part, the enemies don't just appear or are just waiting for you, but you get to SEE what they were and how they became what they are now. A little disturbing but I like it. And the bosses...
Yeah. Good thing I went in there with trust system to start with... #1 to take a second to grasp that we were getting closure to this detail of the story, #2 to see how Alisaie was going to handle it.
In trust if you bring alisae, an npc will mentioned that her face is pale after the 2nd boss. If you didnt bring alisae, lyna will said YOUR face is pale instead of alisae
This dungeon shows you how dire things are. If you look around the open Felix’s before you fight the second boss, there are sun water egg’s EVERYWHERE! Those were people a few minutes ago. This is the first dungeon that made me cried. I could have saved them but I wasn’t fast enough. Much like how Leena after that one assault later in the game.
This dungeon had a special feeling to it for me, the first time I ran it was with the Trust System.. having the exarch tank while Alisae and Lyna DPS was incredible... I could sense the urgency in the song while in the background everybody succumbed to the Sin Eaters... I just wanted to move as fast as I could, obviously with trust you move somewhat slower, like it was designed to stress the danger of Sin Eaters along with a "clock is ticking, hurry" feeling. Masterpiece.
So after going down the UA-cam Rabbit Hole on "Dies Irae" motifs in soundtracks, I decided to look through the FFXIV OST for it. This was the first one I listened to, and yup, let's say, that was a very brief search.
@@dragonfable66 I was genuinely horrified when I saw that. And then imagine the poor fucks who we couldn't get to here. And the presentation in the very beginning of the dungeon with the first boss stabbing a fucking bear in cold blood to transform it drove home just how merciless these creatures are. I feel that's what this dungeon was meant to show us too, as the Crystal Exarch himself said the battle would. This dungeon is amazing almost solely because of the presentation alone. And it's the first damn dungeon. I can't wait for the others.
My fav part of this dungeon is going into the town Square and having to deal with mob after mob of sin eater. It lasts a little long and the healers have to be awake. It invokes a feeling of exhaustion and it makes me imagine the Doom 2016 cover if you just replace Doom Guy with WoL and demons from hell with Sin Eaters. I can imagine escaping folks looking on in amazement as the WoL slaughters not one, not two, but wave after wave of these things and wondering who tf is this person. Also the Crystal Exarch gaining a faint sense of hope during the fight, as the first parts of his plan to save the first are finally - FINALLY - coming to fruition

*cries* Honestly, another great thing about SHB is that they've actually made me care about the fate of seemingly pointless side characters. That's something that they haven't been able to do for a looong time, at least for me.
Shadowbringers is really by far the best expansion of the game. OMG I never liked Stormblood but here... the best themes, the best dungeons, the best story...
Stormblood isn't bad it was just the tone of the story was different. If anything, it was more political intrigue than the other expansions. Out of SBs dungeon, I really loved Doma Castle Dungeon and its theme. Favorite zone has to be Yanxia HW was more personal in tone, people felt it more because it was more of the WoLs story along with the happenings of Ishgard and the Dravanians. Dravania Forelands and Slumber Eteneral was my favorite theme of that expansion. For ShB, although I havent finished just yet To Fire and Sword is difinitely my favorite them thus far (at level 75 atm) anbd my favorite zones so far has to be Lakeland or Kholusia. what makes ShB is that player and the WoL feels a strong sense of urgency finding out that if a particular element becomes overwhelming in a shard, it has direct consequences on the source by bringing all that element/non-element into a calamity on the source.... and the First was getting really close to that calamity.

Thuban word!! This entire OST has had the best basslines.
This song makes healing that much more important. XD
Easily my all time favorite dungeon in the game.
Ran it 1st time last night and totally blind sided by this freaking incredible music.
I like to run this dungeon sometimes in the morning because it reminds of when Shadowbringers launched I stayed up and didn't get to the dungeon until like the sun came up, its a very good first dungeon.
Shows how long it takes before you get to your first dungeon
Anyone else get the vibe of Hamartomania from the beginning notes? Love Soken and his ability to incorporate amazing tracks from past expacs! Love this theme.
I love the Twinning as much as the next guy. But this dungeon's music also deserves some heavy praise.
Best start to any expansion ever
Played it straight with this one.
Dark Knight MSQ only. They need Dark? They got Dark. 😈
IMO I enjoyed this more then tower of zot. Tower of zot was ok but this one left a bigger first impression on me.
This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard
I really love this part of the song the best 0:15-0:44 it’s just awesome as well as this expansion and game!

I see what you did there, but you reached pretty far for it. Gonna have to give it a 5/10.
@@CodyRockLee13 Wow I didn't know we had a professional master Commenter in here oh geez roll out the carpet
Are you a yoga instructor because god damn youre really stretchin it.
The music in this is so unsettling. I love it
dodododo DOOT DOOT dodododo DOOT DOOT. love this shit. boss theme in this dungeon was also cool and weird as hell.
The boss theme for the first 2 bosses was re-used from previous fights, I don't remember the 3rd well enough because I was too focused on the fight.
I love how for the most part, the enemies don't just appear or are just waiting for you, but you get to SEE what they were and how they became what they are now. A little disturbing but I like it. And the bosses...
dodododo DOOT DOOT, DOOT dodododo DOOT !
When I got to the second mid boss I literally just stopped, stood there saying "No. No. I can't....I can't fight them...." then fought them anyway.
For those we have lost. For those we can yet save.
Yeah. Good thing I went in there with trust system to start with... #1 to take a second to grasp that we were getting closure to this detail of the story, #2 to see how Alisaie was going to handle it.
It's what she would want. Remember the nectarine.
I saw it as putting her out of her misery.
The fact this takes place after that reveal honestly made this dungeon all the more terrifying
...what reveal? lol, honestly curious here
How sin eaters are made.
STILL the best dungeon theme.
All that I have and more, I bring to bear.
I remember shortly after unlocking this I did the Leveling Roulette one late evening thinking I’d get Tam Tara Deepcroft, the que pops and I hit commence in a daze, I was suddenly alert when I heard this music, it was a very pleasant surprise.
i really enjoyed this dungeon. usually i start to fall as sleep at the middle of every dungeon (i dont like them too much compared to trials) but this one surprised me with this music and also the point on the story when you get here is amaming i was willing to get in here a kick some ass
Hey, you are the true hero of this Expansion for uploading this music
I love your videos! I hope you do a video of Shadowbringers from the Orchestrion soon! :)
I wonder what the WoL would be "forgiven" for if they actually turned into a sin eater.
Forgiven Vanity maybe? Or Forgiven Burden...
Forgiven Greyparse
I love this theme so much

Probably the best first dungeon of all the expansion. Both HW and SB first dungeon was such a bloodly bore but this? Amazing.
late reply and while i agree with you that this was amazing, I wouldn’t call sohm al a bloody bore tbh haha. imo
@@levi26448 Sohm Al was the level 53 dungeon (I agree though, it is fun). The level 51 one was Dusk Vigil.
RIP Tesleen(?)... You have been avenged.
*cries*
Honestly, another great thing about SHB is that they've actually made me care about the fate of seemingly pointless side characters. That's something that they haven't been able to do for a looong time, at least for me.
Hmm!.. This BGM feels me like playing at Castlevania's last dungeon.
I was blown away the first time, I mean the dungeon itself is nothing special but the damn music... my god.
That's what i call an "angel infestation"
1:28 Maybe not the part everyone came for, but the part I came for at least.
I love this game so much
If I had the means to pay the subscription of this game, I would do it without thinking. Man, this would be the only game I'll be playing for life.
On another note: Astro spells are some of the coolest spells in the game.
Kind of didn't like the changes they made to AST, but it's their game.
I have this on repeat and listened to it before work and now I’m im listening to it again on break. This music is fkin awesome!!!
Shadowbringers is really by far the best expansion of the game. OMG I never liked Stormblood but here... the best themes, the best dungeons, the best story...
This music is so good
Are you and dudewheresmyspoon secretly the same person?
Top 10 conspiracy theories
I'm waiting on them to really eff with us and post these videos playing a clone of the other person's character.
This first dungeon alone just crapped on most of stormblood's dungeons.
Omega Storm Stormblood isn’t that bad, just not as adrenaline inducing.
Stormblood isn't bad it was just the tone of the story was different. If anything, it was more political intrigue than the other expansions. Out of SBs dungeon, I really loved Doma Castle Dungeon and its theme. Favorite zone has to be Yanxia
HW was more personal in tone, people felt it more because it was more of the WoLs story along with the happenings of Ishgard and the Dravanians.
Doma castle is still my favorite.
The best dungeon in my opinion.
