Dreepy, Drakloak and Dragapult. They are awesome psudo-legendaries! But what are they based on? A stealth bomber? a newt? there seems to be a lot going on.

Lockstin & Gnoggin noice
In the pokedex entore of dreepy it says that it's wanders the land that it used to life before it died, do it's also a fossiel pokemon
Im trying it
Lockstin & Gnoggin beans that just happen to be cool
I also found something else interesting regarding Dreepy line aswell. Really more about Dragapult. It's ghostly tail/trail is a reference to the fact that the fossils Diplocaulus has never had a complete tail.
I just realized the implication of having durable aerodynamic children and the parent launching them at prey. It’s a terrifyingly effective way to kill prey and feed the children. Shoot them into the body of their target, killing them and the children immediately have food.
Fist-of-doom So Dragapult isn’t such a shitty father
@@xx_squirtle8621 Dragapults aren't sh*tty parents at all, the Dreepy love being yeeted at high speeds.
The dreepy aren't durable. According to the dex a child could kill one with a freakin' hug.
@@ParadoxFree apparently durable enough to survive impact at high speeds considering they get used as ammo a lot
@@ParadoxFree so, Halo durability. Master chief can take multiple shots and explosions, but gets taken out by a karate chop to the back of the neck.
If I'm not mistaken, they have never found a Diplocaulus fossil with it's tail. Might be why the tail is the only part that's transparent.
Does its skeleton look like it should’ve had a tail? If it’s a small tail maybe it’s not preserved as well.
@@runningoncylinders3829 or maybe it wasn't made out of bones just like our nose/ears
@@dylanhelvetios2300 A fleshy/cartilage tail sounds interesting. It'd probably be more useful if bony though, so the creature might've been developing away from tails or they were for strange purposes.
@@runningoncylinders3829 Absolutely, whats it gonna do, paddle?
@@runningoncylinders3829 It could be that diplocaulus are ambush predators that lay in wait on the bottom of riverbeds then launch themselves upwards at prey items. If they had powerful leg muscles, especially their back legs similar to frogs, they would not have need long tails.

@@jameshamaker9321 nice going buddy, you missed your chance to make a mr. rime joke.

Supporting your theory, Dreepy’s Pokédex entries say they used live in the water and were reincarnated as ghost type.
True
Missed opportunity to make it pseudo of gen 7 as water dragon and give it a Galarian form, but whatever, my standards are high
If galar didnt have the mix and match fossil gimmicks...
Dreepy’s line would’ve been dragon/water if it was still a naturally occuring species
Or Rock/dragon if it was revived from a fossil

I'm surprised you never brought up one of Dreepy's dex entries where it talks about how it wasn't originally a Ghost type, that it was an ancient Pokemon that lived in the sea; like the Diplocalus. And that would explain the water moves.
Jason Sharpless Yeah, I mean, Galarian Corsola apparently wasn’t originally ghost type, and I think it’s based on bleached coral, so...
Joshua Hunt Bleached coral is dead so it would make sense to have a Ghost typing. And Dreepy looks very similar if you looked at the fossil which surprises me that it doesn’t have a duel typing

From Dreepy’s Dex entries about being reborn as a Ghost and returning to places it inhabited during its lifetime as a seafaring prehistoric dinosaur, it would be so tight if there was a Dive-style area in future games similar to Hoenn, where there were Dreepy fossils that if revived, were Dragon/Water to reflect its original form in life.
I'd die for a Water/Dragon Dreepy.

yeah from what I've seen all the mobile games youtubers sponsor are the exact same with very few differences
My question is why do such mediocre games have the funds to pay for advertisements yet never have the creativity or drive to actually be worth advertising?
It's a shame because there are some actually good mobile games out there, but they never appear as sponsors. Yostar has some fantastic games, and with their "west-friendly" (as they are a company situated in the east) marketing/closeness with the western fanbase, one would expect them to appear more, but I guess only the shittiest mobile games are so aggressive with their marketing on UA-cam.

That Awkward moment when you realise that all the prof catch starter with pokeball like why?!

Starters are bred in captivity; they’re presumably not wild animals, predomesticated pets to be easy first bonds with young trainers. Day Cares just use the Pokeball as a default; it’s cheapest.
@@runningoncylinders3829 Hmm, my Umbreon is in a Repeat Ball, probably because his mother, a Sylveon, was caught in one.

Dragapult: DO YOU EVEN LIFT BRO???
Another fun fact about carriers; HMS Courageous was the first British carrier ever fielded and even flew sorties during World War I. The issue was that this was before they developed the flight deck and whatnot, so planes had to worry about the superstructure in the middle of the ship when landing, which messes with turbulence, as well as provide an obstacle when landing. In addition, it also was originally armed with 1 18-inch gun on the rear, making the HMS Courageous not only the first aircraft carrier to see service, but was also the most heavily armed one of its day and probably of all time

@@STAROCiDE Kaiba
The only shiny i have is realbeegyoda the clefable
Makes me wonder if Dragapult and Orbeetle have some sort of predator-prey relationship. One developed psychic sensors to protect itself against the ghostly nature of the other. It's an arms race to see who can evolve the better defence vs offence, and since stealth bombers avoid radar, that tracks with ghost beating psychic. It also makes sense for the reptile dragon type to eat a bug type.
Ah, yes, the boomer and zoomer strategy.
I don't think this will ever be one of my favorite Pokemon, but the more I learn about what inspired its design the more it grows on me. Really liked this video :)
Dreepy was my first shiny in Sword! Took a little over 260 eggs (with the shiny charm)! I'm so glad you did a video on this line! I honestly didn't connect the colors of the shiny to be a reference to the Blue Angels, that's actually pretty neat!
I am so glad you talked about dragapults diplocaulus inspirations because I love diplocaulus. I am a pre history nerd. I realized the diplocaulus inspirations before the fighter jet inspirations. Definatly my favorite galar pokemon
another neat detail is that drakloak goes crazy if it doesn't have a baby to take care off, to the point where it will try to work with any pokemon it can find.
I have been wanting this video to come out for awhile.

Oh wow that's amazing, I love dragapult now! I used to think it looked derpy and had its inspiration on the nose, but little did I know, that was the point. Still, dracloak and dragapult look a little to similar aesthetically for me to see them as true evolutions. It feels more like a mega-evolution, where everything gets a little more pointy.
The way the whole line holds its hands is also similar to how ghosts in japan are often depicted holding theirs. Dreepy specifically even resembles an Eerie from the Mario series, which holds its hands in the same way from the same inspiration.

Lockstin, you also forget that their ends are sort of fading (like classic ghosts) and the way they are holding their arms is also like how classic bed sheet ghosts just hold their arms... so they have "ghost" inspiration.. like classic dragonball.fandom.com/wiki/File:GotenksSuperGhostKamikazeAttack.png

something interesting i noticed about drakloak verses dragapult. drakloak has the dreepy resting on its head while dragapult has the dreepy in the catapult launchers. this could be referencing how aircraft were on the literal top of early aircraft carriers (think pre WWII going into early WWII) and just flew off it, versus more modern aircraft carriers (with the towers) that launch jets off.
if true, its a neat little reference.

I like to point out that while the animal that dragapult is based on is the diplocaulus the problem is that most species of this prehistoric salamander is mostly from Oklahoma and mostly Texas. So, while this pokemon would make sense for these pokemon to be in possibly unova I think they would for sure be in a Texas inspired pokemon region.
