I lost a yellowtail pretty much in the same spot. I lost 3 or 4 until I finally decided to tighten my drag down until the fish is moving towards open water to let it play out. I had to smash in reverse a few times to pull it away from the kelp and the rocks. Finally landed one 20#. One of the strongest pound for pound fish you will ever fight!
what reel are you using?
Welcome to San Diego! Glad you can enjoy our fishery! Keep the smaller ones for tacos 😎
they came down and poached the mlpa in la jolla
Wewh! So stoked to see a video from you in my home turf, this was awesome! Fairly confident the big fish you hooked was a #50+ white sea bass. Acted more like that than a yt or smaller wsb. Can't wait for the next vid down here in LJ!
Great Video Adam! Always enjoy your content!
I enjoyed watching you and Nick during your SD adventure. Well done, both of your.
Love all your guys channel from NorCal! Really respect the work u know and put in. Keep the videos coming. I wanna go up there so bad. One day. Till then keep the videos coming!
Hell yeah man, nice pb calico. Just got in from a 3/4 trip on the Enterprise and won jackpot on the only yellowtail caught today😎 of course rocking the diehardfishing buff representing🤙😏 get'm next time bro.
Nice!!
Enjoyed your videos for years. You've become a very good fisherman, and you totally crack me up! Keep up the good "work."
Great fishing with you my man. We will get em next time.
very nice and huge catch congratulations bro
and the fishing spot is amazing nice one
💪💪💪👍👌❤🐟🐟🐟
Nice change of pace fishing trip! Wished one of you would have caught a yellowtail, maybe next time! Good job on the video, Adam!
This vid was super 🔥🔥🔥 Adam. Damn I miss SD.
Impressive 💯 enough that I subbed lol😆
...perfect fishing with that stunning sunset🎣 🌅
Thanks for the sub!
Another nice and enjoyable video..keep them coming..
No wazzup.
Cool trip, too bad you lost that one..🤙🏽😃
Fish on...
It's got a head like a little grouper. Awesome catch man!
Damn your drone game is on point! Looks professional man
Thanks bro!
The drone footage was awesome! Would loke to see the clean and cook on the calico!
Down in my town huh 😂. Fishing is great there. Still have yet to catch a yellowtail out there. There are some HUGE white sea bass under the shelves at that spot too. Great video! Hope you had a good trip here. 🤘🏻
I will be back!
Die Hard Fishing reach out when you do. Also keep in mind Oceanside Harbor. Not to fish in the harbor necessarily but it’s an easy launch spot for kayaking. Then you just paddle straight out to the kelp. Fishing right there for a whole lot of species is pretty dang good. Hope to meet you sometime. Cheers!
One tip for mackerel is if you can find the pacific mackerel( the ones with a pattern back) are much better for trolling and bait in general. The Jack aren’t as hardy so the extra time is worth it to find em
Awesome video👊🏼💯
Great videos her thank you for sharing cheers🍻🍻
Thanks for sharing.
*Diehard lists fish’s entire family.
Lol this vids are great! Keep em up.
Glad you like them!
Nice catch sir,keep safe.fish on
Calico bass are a slow growth species. That one might have been like 30 years old, please consider releasing the big ones.
I love your vids man
in the early '90's i worked 1/2 day and 5 day boats out of fisherman's landing. that was a nice fish you had hooked up, and the fraying seems like a barracuda but it may have been a yellowtail
Sweet home San deago
Nice video - Sorry you lost the yellowtail! You can use multiple rods in San Diego area for what other types of fish?
Really like the drone pre-view photos. Thanks for sharing a somewhat unsuccessful "catching" venture like most of your followers experience most of the time. You had caught some squid in prep for this trip but never used them??
Glad you enjoyed it, I did try them but they just weren't working . Maybe next time!
Great vid
That blue bait holder look great. Where could we find one of those?
Man of O l knew you were in La Jolla I'd have bought you a taco! Great stuff!
another awesome video thought you were taking squid though it's okay if you ate it😀 good stuff
Honestly, even up here in the far north of Humboldt, the fishing has been rough. At least for me. I've gone out 3 times this week and skunked every time. I blame the fires.
Sorry to hear that, next time you will get them!
@@DieHardFishing i caught a tiny Brown Irish Lord last trip 😅 never caught one before so I guess thats something.
Hey Adam just wanted to say what’s up again. I was stoked to meet you yesterday. ✌🏽
Nice to meet you too!
Gotta tap in next time 🤙🏼 we’ll put you on some fish
Great video Brother!
Could you provide the link for the floating bait holder?
baitshark.com
We live in SD! Calico bite and bonito bite is on!
Adam,
Love your work on the kayak videos. It's not too much to ask, why don't you ever tell us that watch you all the time, where you are fishing? I'm not asking for you to give up your favorite spots, but if you can, at least the name of the lake or where you launch. Any way Love what you do, keep it up....
Opening is noice!
Killer intro music Adam
Next time try a blue Krocadile spinner white sea bass love them and yellowtail too.
Nice farm job
Good ol SoCal baby
nice calico. Maybe you need to try the @Morethanfishing technique... you know the one, when he gets on the phone and calls his wife, them boom fish on.
His walkie talkie is nice
Right now! is when you can crush the Yellowtail in San Diego
Where is the link for that floating bait box?
baitshark.com
I understand having an opening sequence to a video, but 5-10 seconds please please. Love the videos
That was a huge calico Julian
Do you have the link to floating bait holder?
baitshark.com
I was also looking for that info! The bait holder looks nice.
More drag!
Check PetCo they have emergency bubblers in the aquarium area for bout $20 battery operated 2d cells operate bot 96 hrs on 2 batteries. the model was A10.
please start doing catch n cooks
Damn badass intro
Are you using a lexa 300 or 400
catch and cook please!
Is this your job? what do you do? and how did you get into it!
Where did you launch out of
Of all Bass species Calico tastes best
You win some you lose some 👍
👍
Do you have a link for that bait holder?
Look under the kayak accessory section in the description and look at the bottom of it it will say kayak fish bag I believe that is the bait holder
I was thinking the same thing!
@@brandonensley8116 it totally is not, that's the reliable fishing cooler bag. Thanks though.
cheethoe oh lol my bad
baitshark.com
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BUY A KAYAK OR IS ONE BETTER TO RENT INSTEAD?
1500 for a hobie with a nice rod to catch a yellow. Use your bass gear to catch bait.
Don’t set the hook on those things when you get bit just wind in on them
Wow! Thanks Adam!!! Thanks for trying Baitshark and showing it off on your channel! Link for "the floating bait well" is baitshark.com. Thanks again!
Take that swivel clip off the taddy surface iron / or yoyo iron
It ruins it's proper cadance
I had a swivel to a yoyo all day and was skunking it till someone yelled to take off the clip
Hooked up into a yt 5 min after I took it off
Switch to 40-60 lb next time, max down that drag, if they can see the bottom you can’t give em anything
Where did he launch out of?
Calicos are great eating id say better than rockfish
Bro where's the link to the bait holder?
Hey you dont wear your Giants hat anymore!!!
Check out Chris Blevins' channel too for San Diego yellowtail fishing. Dude is great: ua-cam.com/channels/aPdudFvaHGNIcCIj2WAYMw.html
Pure shark bait
Did you say... CALICO
No wet suit that’s gotta be nice
Hope you got a sandwich at the Cheese Shop.
Never keep giant calicos! They are very slow growing. It takes takes 20 years to grow one that size. Keep the 14 inch fish and let the big ones go! There are a lot of fast growing fish out there that you can harvest but you should avoid killing big calicos.
Noted, I will keep that in mind next time!
Dude with all due respect you shouldn’t be keeping calicos. They’re such a slow growing fish and the bigger ones produce so much more eggs than the smaller ones. If you’re going to keep bass at the very least keep the 14 inch ones.
Isn’t 14 da legal size? Idk I’m tripping but that’s what I’ve been taught by da old Timas?
Calicos are overpopulated imo People should keep more.
This guy!
Rusty S how can a natural population over populate
More kayak meat fishermen on the west coast than sport fishermen.
La Jolla is loaded with calico . Too bad on the yt .
Practice Catch. and Release of large breeder fish. You appear to be the only youtube fisherman who regularly practices killing large fish.
Clickbait thumbnail by pushing fish towards the camera lens to make it look huge. So you are a liar. I'm selecting "Don't Recommend Channel". I don't like to be lied to ...
Your joking right
@@samh6669 YOU'RE joking right? You mean you haven't seen this "technique" to make something look bigger 100 times in cheap tabloids? You need to read more ... I don't like it. And I don't need your opinion. There's too many UA-cam fishing channels to keep up with. I don't need this crap ...
Great fishing video. Honest, sincere, authentic. Keep making these great fishing videos.
I can guarantee this dudes over 50 years old
@@samh6669 I guess he's recommending you read more cheap tabloids!!!! Have fun.
