    Keep the vids coming Chris! I've been out every weekend for about 2mo straight. Caught a 100lbs black sea bass, lots of calico and sculpin but so far no yellows. Gotta put in the work to hookup. Your vids are very informative and helpful. Thanks!

    Seriously I don’t know how anyone can give you a thumb down when you go out of your way to give free advice. Kayak fisherman, instructor, guide and motivational speaker! What more can they ask for? I doubt that I’ll ever get to La Jolla since I’m in Bakersfield now but I’ll definitely apply your advice to the local lakes. 👍

      @@chrisblevinsfishing There's a group of old friends going, and we're like a bunch of girls getting ready for the prom... so funny. "What if we don't catch bait..." Who wants to rockfish just in case..." (NOT ME!!) "The water temp is up 73F, is that a good sign..?" It's half the fun!!

    Another great informational and inspiring video, Chris. As always the video is full of great information, that has more information than most can absorb and process with one viewing. I would advise beginners to watch more than once, in between making several trips, to practice some of the techniques. You can't remember all the info in just this video without practicing until, it's second nature. Can't catch a trophy fish every trip. That's why it's called fishing and not catching! A large part of the fun is in learning and applying what you learn. When you do finally catch one, it will be so much more satisfying. Put in the time on the water, but don't forget to enjoy the scenery, a beautiful day and relax. That's one big reason to be there in the first place. If you get too wound up on the fishing par,t your day will SUCK!

I actually saw you and your wife/gf out there a few time. Next time I'll make sure to say hi, thank you for your videos.

    Hey Chris - enjoying the vids. How do you get a greenback to stay hooked on a flyline like that? Last week I tried to drift for a bit and had two in a row come off within 30 secs of throwing back into the water because I wasn't moving - hooked up through the nose on a #3/0 or #4/0 ringed hook. When trolling a flyline or on a Carolina rig I've never had them come off when hooked that way.

    Awesome video on targeting inshore species in the local SD kelp areas.Can you post your Lowrance settings? What transducer are you running? Do you typically fish 200/83 khz, one over the other when trolling the kelp line?

    You appear to have much less line on your reels than my setups, which is interesting. I've had some close calls recently with line bunching up on one side(while hooked up an not paying attention to feeding it right) and nearly losing a fish from the spooled line biting into the reel body. Is that your rationale with less line or is it something else? Awesome vids BTW!

    Hi Chris! I am new to fishing and really want to get into kayak fishing. I live in South Mission Beach and have a Precption Tribe kayak... not exactly set up for fishing, but I figure I can start there. Just wanted to see if you have any advice for gear to get or how to get started.

    • @chrisblevinsfishing
      @chrisblevinsfishing  2 роки тому

      Try the bay first, you can launch in Mariners cove in south mission and head out the jetty, that’s should be a great test run for La Jolla.
