Fish #4 is a Gopher Rockfish, not a Grass Rockfish.
I believe you're right; and I think grass rockfish are a very shallow water species, intertidal actually, and closely associated with eel grass habitat.

I definatly agree about the brown and gofer rock fish: little meat, plenty of bones, super thick scales which make scaling or cutting them into fillets a 15-20 minute job. In my opinion, the olives are the easiest and best for cook prepping. They offer plenty of meat, few bones, and cleaning the scales is a breeze. Almost have my new(to me) boat ready. After 1 month of no boating, i sure miss it. Love your videos.

I catch black Rockfish and blue Rockfish on topwater poppers all the time it's one of my favorite things to do generally in the fall though

Most of that is bass stuff that they've attempted to put into an ocean box, Karls is mainly a bass baits company. Either way it was pretty interesting to see that set up.
I think MTB should make a WEST COAST MTB saltwater box just because west coast fishing is way different from the east..!

OK… I just got to ask! When you’re out there for hours at a time sooner or later you have to take a leak! It looks to me like you’re in a wetsuit. What do you do? Use the bottle/Cupp technique or just hang it over the side? And heaven for bid what happens if you’ve got to drop a deuce? I don’t mean to be rude or disrespectful I was just curious
I use a large gatorade bottle with large lid or a large coffee cup myself... I don't have a pencil dick so a reg water bottle doesn't work unless I cut off the top myself.
Some wetsuits have a top and bottom zipper in the front. You lift the paddle drive up and pee through the pee hole 😂

I saw a guy bottom fishing with a 8oz weight on a premade metal double rig with a crank bait and a 12inch work wacky rigged on it fishing in saltwater off the Mississippi coast once. To this day I think you can go any worse of a set up

Adam how bad are parasites in the fish you catch? I noticed in a video from April 2020 the two blue lingcods you caught both had parasites in their bellies. How do you know if the fish is okay to eat with these parasites in them?
Do Yu think the "sonar" type metal lure would work.
I feel bad for not feeling you when you lost your reel and rod. Check out the tsunami torque reel on amazon. I got one in April and it was way better than my torium, penn fathom or daiawi saltist. So smooth and power. I wasn't tired after fishing deep for 8 hours.
If you were fishing with that thing off the rocks and lost it, if someone found it they would think that was the biggest kook in the history of fishing, but little do they know.

Those Z-man ones area really nice baits. Coated in procure scent. Have caught many a different species with those. Last forever because of the material they are made of.(Don't ever store them in the same container as other plastics.)

@@sanddabs159 i did man. But i didnt fully understand if a lingcod is part of the 10 bag limit of rockfish. Know I know the greenling is only 2 per person and those 2 count as part of the 10 bag limit. Im still not sure if the lingcod is part of the 10 tho
I think lingcod count against the 10 total daily limit because they are considered ground fish too. I'm old enough to remember either no limits or ridiculously high limits and as a result we have a lot of people chasing fewer fish. Lingcod were considered a trash fish when I was a kid and people used to kill them before throwing them overboard because they thought they ate little salmon. Just shows how much damage ignorance can cause to our planet's ecosystems.
@@TimLPINE thanks for the feedback! You are correct. Overfishing take a toll on our Salt Water ecosystem. I only rockfish once a year and always bring my 10 home due to the distance, If I can pull it off haha. But this year i want to try to catch halibut and lings. Ive never caught either of those so thats my plan.
