What is your favorite version of Grimlock? The more intelligent Grimlock from the comics? Or the simple minded and later goofy Grimlock from the cartoon?
Ive never really been a big grimlock fan myself Hes cool but he never really stood out to me My favourite grimlock portrayal would probably be marvel comics grimlock Although there is something to be said about shattered glass grimlock because… Those colors man… i love it
I've never liked Grimlock. I think he is a selfish jerk and an arrogant sociopath. Every action he undertakes is for his own benefit. Even when he defends his team, he's doing it precisely because it's his team. This characteristic of his is connected to his lack of intelligence. When he becomes super intelligent, he suddenly becomes selfless and heroic. It may be a cliche, but that doesn't make it less true. Personally, I think he's evil due to his selfishness. My favorite Grimlock is the Diaclone version because that isn't really Grimlock. It's a mecha. I've never understood why Hasbro made the dinosaur robos into Autobots. Dinosaurs weren't good. They should have been Decepticons. It would have worked out better thematically. Giant, evil dinosaur robots would have been an obvious tool of Megatron's. It definitely would have secured the Autobots as the underdogs in the battle.
@Bebe_Hippo yeah I kinda agree on both counts. My favorite Dinobot I'd a toss up between Slag and Snarl. And the comicnGrimlock is the way to go IMHO. Either Marvel or IDW. He's just a more nuanced character. And I love the idea of him faking his stupidity to throw enemies off.
@Norrisc761 fair assessment. Although I believe the dinobots being made autobots was mainly a strategic marketing thing. kids love dinosaurs and I'm thinking they figured they'd sell more Dinobot toys if they were good guys. As for Grimlocks character. For me, for the most part I do agree with most of what you said, he definitely is a majorly flawed character. But I believe his one saving grace is that deep down he has a strong moral core, even if it's very basic and cliche. The weak suck, but those who beat on the weak suck more. I don't know, it just makes for a more interesting character in my book.
G1 cartoon is my fav version. Slag though, is my favourite Dinobot. Any serial killer who should be a Decepticon, working for the Autobots will always be king in my book :D Excellent video bro!
Grimlock and Starscream has a lot in common. They both think they are better leader. They wore crown once they got the chance. Built a new combiner all by itself. Used to be inside pretender shell too. I want them both co hosting a talk show.
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I just imagine during that talk show Starscream had a phone call from a viewer. It was Megatron and all he said was "Starscream, this is a bad comedy".
This is amazing. Where else would you see Larry David and Marc Bolan in the same video? My girlfriend is a Grimlock collector. Strictly G1. This is her favourite video of yours so far. I had owned a single dinobot previously. The FOC game was probably my favourite dinobot creation story. Great writers in those two games.
He he thanks I aim to please brother! Not surprisingly Grimlock is a favorite of my daughters too as they love doing his voice and we actually named one of their stuffed sheep after him 😅 I never played FOC but I do keep hearing about how good the story is 👍👍👍
@Norrisc761 interesting. I'm not one to mix and match but how does the g creations compare size wise? As much as I love Giga, their Swoop is my least favorite with the most QC issues of the bunch 😅
I only got to own a vintage Slag through a friend who had an extra with no accessory, its horns having bite marks on them, when I received it in 2016. It still holds as my favourite Dinobot. It used to be Grimlock, but Slag's role albeit minor in the 86 movie was one of the hilarious highlights during their breakout of Kup and Hot Rod.
Every time I watch one of your vids I get memberberries, tecnobots and computron?. That's a mind blast from the past. I got the power of the primes (I think) Grimlock that's pretty BA with the other dinos, they combine into Volcanoes (combiners kick a**). 🤣 Epic reference dude!. Faith no more!. Don't got a lot of Transformers but the Dinobots were a must have (Blaster/ Soundwave/ HotRod). I would love to find a vint Bumblebee and the little UFO dude. Yo Freaking Joe!
Glad you caught that reference 😅 and your welcome for the memberberries 👍 always my favorite type of compliment as these are all done out of great memories as kids and I love sharing it with all of you guys since we all in many ways shared the same memories 👍you should check out the missing link Bumblebee coming out later this year. Vintage Bumblebee....with articulation :)
How many O-ring Joe's you got?. Have you ever been victim to spontaneous Joe combustion?. (This is when an old uncarded Joe that's been displayed for years O-ring suddenly gives up) I got many Joe's in the med bay right now😂. Mostly you just come home and notice a downed Joe but I've actually seen it! 🤣. Yo Freaking Joe!
@retrojoe8290 don't have many o rings anymore. Can't say I've experienced first hand sewing them fail in real time....I have experienced a ton of broken thumbs and crotches though 😅
@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf there's a vid 4 ya 😆, vintage toys vintage problems. Joe/ crusty O-rings, He Man/ crotch rot, vint TMNT/ almost impossible to stand. Actually Transformers had alot of metal back in the day (which was awesome but they could get kinda floppy). Yo Freaking Joe!
@retrojoe8290 yeah not a BIG fan of the diecast...if only I still had my vintage toys 😞 would've definitely made a video for em. Hey still waiting for your email 👍👍👍
You mean the organic Dinobots? I know a 3rd party company...I forget which one is doing an IDW Dinobots set. They've so far done Grimlock and Slag. But this is he version after Shockwave blasts off their fleshy exteriors 👍
OK noted. Same effect though as he downloaded his knowledge to computron, And in effect lost it himself, thus it was transferred. But thanks for the clarification 👍
Yeah actually I heard about that too. I dont think Bay wasn't a huge fan of Transformers in general and initially didn't even want to do the first movie. You can tell from the lack of true characterizarions and personalities and silly ideas like the twins that he didn't have much respect for the history of the franchise. Which is a shame. The movies could have been so much more.
I loved my foc Grimlock and power of the primes grimlock wouldn't mind getting the bayverse one as well, currently animated Grimlock and his fellow dinobots hail as my main dinobots in my collection😄

@dubuyajay9964 I'm sorry I missed that reference...had to Google it 😅 I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that story. I though you were referring to his distinctictive yellow/gold chest 😅 my bad!
Hi your wrong about the origins of the dinobots they was never made on cybertron they was created only after spike and the autobots found a hidden cave with dinosur bones in it and the autobits asked what they was so spike told them and showed them so they decided to build the dinobots
Yes that's their cartoon origin. But their story in the original Marvel comics and other comics like Dreamwave and IDW already had them existing on Cybertron. 👍
