That's a cool story! Did they use the name Safeguard for their selects blue trailbreaker? I made up my own Dinobots, the Ankylosaurus Slam and velociraptor Slash....yes WELL before Hasbro made theirs 😅 I made my Black Ironhide Lowlight. And made HER into a sniper van. 👍👍👍

@Norrisc761 ugh how unoriginal. I wish they would be more creative like Exhaust and Loud Pedal. Even the black ironhide is boring...dk guard or something. I prefer the yellow Trailbreaker. I know they released an mp version. Forgot what it was called but I originally had him as Sunburn, a hostile environment specialist 👍

Yeah that's what I love about TFone, it draws from different iterations of TF not just G1. It's like a love letter to the fans through the years. But at the same time it doesn't just rely on pure nostalgia and is serious about making its own universe. Love it!

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf sad thing is that challenge of the gobots wasn’t a bad show. I wouldn’t mind seeing a go-bots movie played up like a parody of transformers. It would probably be great with modern technology. Hasbro owns the IP iirc. They could probably do it.

@liquidmark5081 from what I know while they own the rights to all the Gobots trademarks etc...they don't own the rights to the toy designs? But like they can make a Transformer motorcycle and call him cy-kill but not make him him look exactly like the original renegade. I could be wrong though. But that's my understanding 😅 either way that would be cool to have the actual gobots that we know incorporated somehow into the TF mythos...like an invasion of sorts? I believe IDW made a gobots miniseries wherein they were the ancestors of the Transformers or something.

Having an obscure character reference early to Action Master Jackpot in the background, then you know it's made by people that care about Transformers and not slave to the dollar. Then also i would have loved seeing Mirage participating in the race instead of just being in the audience, see Dragstrip be among the top racers and Blurr win it all instead of who ever did. (Won't tell or write because of spoiler, evening it doesn't matter) as it was it was very strange only what would become Autobots were in the city and no future Decepticons in the background, more than minor speaking roles.

@StoriesFromTheToyshelf honestly was just trying to find Blurr and Dragstrip during the race when I had Spotlight Blurr on my mind during that entire scene, and then I spotted Mirage in the crowd. Thought I can check more closely at home on a later date about the other participants when I bought the Blu-ray and can pause or rewind at my leasure. The winner had something to do with Inferno i think it was, or was it Ironhide during the 80s?

The original 82 wave of joes were re-released in 84 alongside Airborne and co which might have led to the confusion? As for later Joes that may have fit in well with the first wave? I'd include the new infantry soldier Footloose or the later one Hit and Run. Basically those with predominantly green uniforms? 🤔once Spirits wave was out I knew we were in for a real special and unique line of toys 👍👍👍

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I mean, yeah, but direct energy weapons, as the military calls them, have their uses. Right now, the Navy is looking to put them on ships to destroy incoming drones and such. But for infantry use, I really cant see a purpose for them, simply because rifles have to be soldier proof and work in the freezing cold or scorching heat. A hand held laser is too delicate for that, at least at the moment. Also, battery packs would be a bitch to lug around.

@LtHavoc1983 I'll take your word for it but technology moves so fast these days in your opinion wouldn't it be conceivable that they might be practical in a decade or two?

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Hard to say. Technology does not advance in a straight line, concepts that are all the rage now, will be an old hat later. See Magnetic Rail guns and Gauss Rifles as ship weapons. The US Navy explored that for decades and put billions into it and while its feasible, there was little progress to make it viable in a cost to use ratio, so it was canned and the US Navy instead is now exploring laser weapons. The US army, on the other hand, currently has no project in that regard, at least not anything I am aware of. The new XM7 rifle for the "close combat forces" is a return of the old style battle rifle, firing a high-powered round. The real breakthrough, tho, comes in from of the new combat optic, that is a fully computerized sight, that makes the rifle into a "smart gun", because the sight works like a HUD of a fighter plane, telling you all the info you need to hit the target, with a 95 % hit probability.

Now, in '65, Gloria Jones released Tainted Love. Awesome track. I wasn't born then so I grew up with the' 81 Soft Cell version. My father was the one who told me it wasn't the original. Blew.My.Mind. Didn't know what to think. A different take? There's been dozens of versions since the original. Then the big one that divided the rock community... MARILYN MANSON covering the Mowtown classic. A very different take, sampling Soft Cell's synth but with the same passion as Gloria Jones. Beautifully produced. I'll smash this at the gym, in my car, at a party. So... I may just check out this film. You twisted my arm.

@audiebavington8789 that's quite the compliment. Thanks! I guess the key for me was my that I came in with themindset that this wasn't MY Transformers. It wasn't gonna be G1...but that the general feedback was very positive...so I was open minded...a little ...optimistic 😅 but basically thinking...ok so let's see what all the buzz is about :) I was genuinely surprised :) I'm also familiar with the soft cell Tainted love...as in that's the version that played in my head when you mentioned it. Can't say I'm familiar with the original or MM version so will check it out. I can totally get where you're coming from as a.music snob....im the same way 🤣 Would definitely love to know what you think about TF One!

Hmmm...I thought photon looked a bit more bulky. I myself preferred the more streamlined aesthetic of laser tag. But to each his own :) 👍👍👍

Yup! Too bad Hasbro hit a legal snag and had to change Jetfire to Skyfire. But eventually I got to appreciate Skyfire fornwhat he was. My favorite being the Siege version as at least he was more competent in battle. And yup I was a big Macross and later Robotech fan. My favorites were Max and Miriya. Loved their story 👍👍👍
