Here is the reason Bazooka has a 14 jersey. Bazooka wears a number 14 jersey that's designed to look a bit like a New England Patriots jersey. Ron Rudat, the original ARAH figure designer, is a Pats fan, and Steve Grogan, number 14, was the team's quarterback in the early 80s.

Interesting how the best versions of this figure also come with some rather obscure real world weapons, the original and Classic Collectables line have a French FAMAS famously used by the French Foreign Legion who are/were some seriously dangerous criminals and lost souls who serve in the harshest of environments like the African deserts and South American jungles. The other is the American made Kriss Vector, a pistol calibre submachine gun with a very unusual recoil mitigating system designed by a Frenchman (coincidence? no idea) but hasn't seen much use outside of Panama, Bangladesh and general private security like an H&K MP5K.

Awesome, I've been told about the FAMAS by a lot of commenters but you're the first to talk about the Kriss vector 👍 prob not a coincidence that Classified Dusty was given the weapon! Love learning more about this stuff! Thanks!

Great video altogether! I just came upon this ,and I remember that two parter(cept Duke's coma).. so did Martin Scorsese I guess.. probably but GI Joe had some pretty good episodes. I didn't have the biggest toy collection for Joe's as a kid.. but I did have Sneak- Peek... Lightfoot, also the Tiger Stripe redo of Dusty. Sneak peek was so freaking lame or at least I thought... Now they would be like purple heart MVPs.. glad to see these characters are getting some cool treatment... I definitely understand about the cloth.. I would rather have the Tiger- Force one. That's a little detail but not. That was unique to that figure. The original at least not mine probably. I wonder if it's a call back to the way old figures now that I think about it..

Thank you! Happy you liked the video :) yeah for the most part the cartoon was pretty light but there were some really good ones peppered in here and there. I actually never had Sneak Peek but I did have Lightfoot :) and of course Dusty ...I really wish they would've gone for the cloth for the Classified version. But as it is he's still pretty cool. Tiger force version was a great and interesting color departure from the original. Thanks for your comment! And hope to hear from you more!

Steve Grogan wore #14, for the New England Patriots, they wore red jerseys back then, I don't know what you're talking about with Broadway Joe Namath, but as a kid I liked Alpine, loved Quickkick, he was my favorite Joe, I didn't like Bazooka at all, I think it was because the Sunbow series made him so goofy and irritating?🤔 Great video bro.👍🏽

I recall an episode of G.I.Joe where I think there was a Joe that got bit by a deadly insect on the back of the neck. I think it was Dusty and some alternate reality Baroness vowed to save his live if he stayed with her. It's been close to 40 years since I've seen that episode air. I might be wrong, but I know Dusty was important to the episode in some way and there was a desert involved.

Bazooka got the shaft big time in the cartoons. Anyone who had his action figure and bothered to Read his filecard would know he wasn't a dunce- Larry Hama described him as a 'decisive fast thinker with all the instincts of a natural survivor'; a trait seen in Marvel's G. I. Joe #44. Along with Flash, Zap, & Airtight, Bazooka was also one of the only Joes who can defuse a nuclear warhead if necessary.

I came across this channel a week or so ago. For a "clip" presentation style, I have to say I almost choked on of the pic choices for whatever was being stated ( sorry i take 'touch grass' to be "toke grass) Loving the work so far and keep the puns rolling.

I knew it Alpine. My bazooka figure still has his launcher but missing his helmet and backpack. Still need an alpine

Funny thing that neither Alpine nor Bazooka has made it into either the Sideshow or ThreeZero 1:6 line of figures, but Hasbro made both of them in that scale, but those are more meant as toys tho, then collectors items. Still, I have seen plenty of kitbashes/customs of both of them over the years, so there is that.

Hmmm I'm not into the 1/6 scale but I did know that Hasbro did a Bazooka. But they did Alpine too? Interesting! I'm gonna Google that :) how deep did Hasbro's 1/6 scale line go?

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Hasbro made several waves of 1:6 action figure toys over the years, often tied with the new cartoons or movies. I think the last was Valor vs. Venom if I recall and there, they did a few modern reinterpretations of the classics. Also, I might be wrong on the Alpine figure, but they did do Bazooka.

@LtHavoc1983 yeah I've seen a bunch of them on and off. And it's a cool idea as I believe their construction was based off the original joes 👍

Hasbro is by Boston, and Bazooka is supposed to be wearing a Patriots jersey- inspired by Steve Grogan...I think. That is also why Cutter has a Red Sox cap. Steve Grogan also played in Super Bowl 20, against ....William "Fridge" Perry and Da Bearssss!

    • @MrAvenger1975

I always wondered why Cutter worn that particular cap. I assumed it was some kinda Coast Guardy thing.

@MrAvenger1975 Well, Boston has quite the coast.

Oh OK....didn't Cutter speak in a Boston accent? I know BBq did. I also read that a disproportionate number of Joes were based off actual Hasbro employees and so were born in or around Rhode Island. 👍

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf Boston is (or at least was) pretty Irish settled. See the Boston Celtics as an example. There was an old stereotype of Irish as police and firemen. Partly because they were heavily discriminated against at one time. NINA- No Irish Need Apply. Also see the House of Pain video. JUMP AROUND!

It’s funny how a soldier in a Hawaiian shirt wasn’t taken seriously by the public, but 30 to 40 years later they might as well be the unofficial uniforms of special forces soldiers. Dudes love their sandals and Hawaiian shirts. XD
