    I'm confused, is the plastic mask and tape still within this? With you taking about forgetting to clingfilm the mask so the clay doesn't stick to the tape... Should they be separated?

    • @MagneticNerdsCreate
      @MagneticNerdsCreate  Рік тому +119

      No, the plastic mask and tape and tin foil is not in the mask anymore. It was quite the chore getting it out of the mask. The clingfilm would have made that process wayyyyyy easier.

      Hey, it’s never too late to start! If you’re using white glue, you shouldn’t need the flour. It’s a usually about a 1:1 ratio of water and glue.

    Do you think the celluclay might hold in spots on something like a foam pumpkin? I am thinking about using this technique to sculpt a face onto the surface of one. And I’m wondering if it is going to need total coverage around the whole of the pumpkin…

    • @dryrotdryrot9908
      @dryrotdryrot9908 2 місяці тому

      Sculpt the face on the pumpkin. If it is not sticking as you like, a little spray adhesive will help.
      Depending on the features, you might stick toothpicks or wires though the pumpkin as an armature which will help give shape and will hold it on the JoL

    • @MagneticNerdsCreate
      @MagneticNerdsCreate  2 місяці тому

      This is a major assumption…..buuuuuut. Yes it should adhere to that style of foam. I’ve done two different pumpkin buckets where the base is a smooth plastic and it worked fine. If you get worried it’s going to start peel up, sealing it with like a mod podge so prevent that.

    For anyone who doesn’t want to use a mask as a base, measure your face, then make a clay sculpt of your mask with your measurements. Then layer plastic wrap over it, grease the top, and you can make your mask. If paper mache, you can also make a mold of your first mold so that the flattest side of the paper mache lies on the outside features of your mask.

      Once the clay cures, it can most definitely be sanded. You just have to be careful with how thick your layers of clay are when sanding. Don’t want to sand too much off. If you’re painting it, using an automotive filler primer with some light sanding before painting.
