Given the abuse Holosun’s optics have absorbed throughout Aaron’s testing over the years, I’m confident this would handle anything the world can throw at. Excellent review. This one is on my radar now.
My only concern are scattered reports of fogging/condensation inside the closed emitter. If that happens and is bad enough to obscure the sight picture, the closed emitter ends up being less useful than an open emitter where at least I can stick something into the window/emitter to try and clean it out.

Another great video Aaron. Hearing you say it survived one handed manipulations was all I needed to hear, because I know you’re exactly gentle while doing them. 😂
I replaced my 407k with the green dot 6moa eps carry on my p365xk and I’m loving it! No longer have to get a q-tip to clean out the window every other day and the window is so much clearer. It’s also serial number 1 which is pretty cool.
hey I actually just ordered that one and should be here today according to ups. Did you struggle to decide between the 6moa green and the green mrs? I had such a hard time deciding between the 2
Great review as usual Aaron. I’ve been waiting for Holosun to come out with exactly this optic. Enclosed 507k footprint. As soon as the MRS version is available I’m swapping my 507k on my 43X MOS to one of these. Looking at the bigger version to put on my 19 MOS.
Holosun now has the “MRS” version of the eps carry in both green and red with solar backup and changeable reticle. It’s the perfect enclosed for glock 43x mos just file the nubs and stock sights end up @ 1/3 cowitness. Tlr-7 sub SA-15 mags & release with extended 20+1 or 15+1 flush for ccw.
@@ashtonb.2001 I’m not quite understanding this comment. You refuse to buy the gun….so I thought you’d never buy a Glock 43x…but then say shield plus inferring you got Glock 43x and run shield mags? And I didn’t get the mos version of g45. Was thinking of getting my slide killed or buying an mos slide but for the end price, an entire 19 mos made more sense. I can swap the slides and frames, and mags (except for the 1 15rnd 19 mag that isn’t long enough for the g45 frame) and went with the Holosun scs mos that sits flush on the slide and can co-witness with stock height sights. I run a SilencerCo threaded barrel and Osprey 9 2.0 can, which doesn’t need special sights. So now I’ve got no printing, and the absolute best optic for my particular tool. I agree, I prefer to leave all stock as glock is exceptionally good at producing life status reliable weapons. Any modification can effect that reliability. @@ashtonb.2001 ok. Ya I was an iron sight only tuff guy when I went out and bought my g45….after carrying it for a year or so I figured I wanted something that the grip (with +mags) wouldn’t print so much and I wanted a red dot. Holosun made the scs mos specifically for glock mos and it sits flush meaning no “suppressor” height sights….you can keep the stockies. But the main reason for buying a new glock 19 mos was the fact it had less handle to print….but holds 15+1 with a flush mag. Vouch for Duracell batteries, you gave me that tip maybe 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back. It’s the best performing battery I’ve found for optics yet, and with the best battery life
Great optic so far. Mine is the EPS Carry 2 moa green dot, mounted on a G43X MOS using the mounting plate provided with the Holosun. Probably have about 500 rounds through it so far and it's been great! The reviewer was spot on as far as the supplied battery not lasting long. Replaced the battery after three weeks. Used an Energizer 1620, but have ordered the Duracell batteries for future replacements. I'm looking forward to getting the EPS Carry MRS version next.
@@khenry123ifyNo, it did not co-witness because I used the mounting plate. In order to co-witness, I used these sights, Ameriglo GL-429 XL tall flat black .315 front and flat black .394 rear. I was honestly looking forward to hearing how the drop tests went, but I trust your judgement regardless. I’ve been rocking a 407K, and it got stolen and tossed out of a car window without breaking, so Holosun is good to go as far as I’m concerned.
Replying with details: some teenager broke into my apartment and stole the entire gun off of my bed. Tossed in out on the other side of the city when a cop pulled them over.I got the gun back, minus one bullet that the cops fired to verify functionality. The gun was dirty and banged up and the Holosun has a marred finish now, but it holds zero.
I snapped one of these up with a 10% coupon from Brownells. Had the old P365 milled for it and now I am getting used to it, and really enjoying the fact I have all the information I have become accustomed to from using a dot when shooting. I can shoot irons out to 100 yards with the right type of irons...BUT it doesn't mean I like it. I am no longer satisfied by how little information irons provide for me, combined with the fact it's very nice to just focus on the target. PS. EPS carry is SLIGHTLY larger than the 407K/507K. If you have a pistol milled for the 407k it will not fit the EPS.
Last March I shot my annual LEOSA daylight and low light qualification course during a several hour long heavy downpour. I was shooting a Shield Plus with a 507K. Anyone who wants to experience the limitations of an open emitter should try a night shoot qualification course while it is raining about as hard as you can imagine. Both the Shield Plus and the 507K survived the prolonged drenching and both performed very well under the circumstances but I have to say that I look forward to using the EPS Carry I have on order when I have to qualify next time.
@@HariboStarman Yes. I have shot in heavy rain a couple of times with an open emitter, primarily a Holosun 507k but any of them would act the same. My experience was the same both times and another retired LEO running a dot had similar problems. When a large drop of rainwater falls on the laser/emitter you can find no dot when you present the pistol until after the first shot clears the water away. Also, rain falling on the side of the glass facing the emitter is difficult to quickly wipe away between range commands. My hope is that the closed emitter addresses these problems.
Pretty cool little optic for concealed carry. But I gotta say, I am happy as a clam with my Holosun SCS. It’s just the right size for concealed carry, plus it did stellar through his rigorous duty testing. I really like that little optic.
Hey brother, thanks for the videos, my agency has taken a lot of similar steps as you based on white papers etc. For the eps carry the solar and auto adjust are only available one the multi reticle (MRS) models.
This is Aaron’s version of the “Are you not entertained” meme from Gladiator. The savages only came for the patio block carnage. I’m kinda relieved I didn’t have to go through t the stress of waiting to see if it shattered or not. 😂
I have the 365x macro. What screws did you use to install the EPS Carry? I used the ones that came with the gun but I don’t want this thing to come flying off when I shoot it. It wasn’t cheap
How much does it print with the hood? It only has a 2 moa version. I know some of the other none hood offer 6 MOA. If you could create your own what size dot would you have
Everything about the eps carry feels like a better, more refined 507k. Im a huge fan of it. The only downside is the shorter deck height made it so i need new screws 🤣. Short term ive been using the included mounting plate as a spacer to make my old screws fit
Holosun list a couple different models on their website, there is the "EPS Carry" and the "EPS Carry MRS" both come in different reticle and color configuration. But the EPS Carry MRS has a solar failsafe, the EPS Carry does not. Other then that they appear to be identical.
@@AFGixxeR88 Yup, spoiled for choice. I thought about going with the green but just decided to stick with red and 6 moa since I tend to turn the ring off on my 509T anyway.
Quick question, I use a compact pdp 4inch and was thinking of getting the carry version of the EPS. At the gun shop they said I should run it with the EPS. Any thoughts?
It's very likely built with the same electronics and the same metallurgy as their other builds like the 507C and 509T; just with less of it, since they don't have the solar panel. I wouldn't have any problems trusting it. Holosun has really done well in pistol red-dots world.
Question (for ANY/ALL to answer, please & THANK YOU!): *For a 1st time using a RDS on a pistol, is the "Multi Reticle System" or ACSS reticle a better choice?*
Awesome job Aaron. I finally found the EPS Carry version I've wanted in stock. No small feat. I'm replacing a perfectly good 507K which will be put to good use on a 365 XL. The EPS Carry is going on an X-Macro. Did you notice any change in retical visual quality going from the 507 to the EPS Carry? Thanks.
I appreciate things like the burn down and drop tests just so we know the upper limits of what's possible, but if you say it's good enough for 99% of us, we can take your word for it.
Watching this and the 509t review and hoping that the standard EPS is inbetween those 2 enough that I can interpolate a rough idea of how it might perform. The EPS seems like a really good option for me as I'm looking at a p10c and a midsize optic that can flex into carry and duty seems like a good fit for a midsize pistol that can flex into both carry and duty.
if you swap this on a gun that is cowitnessing perfectly with the 507k, will it then cowitness with this EPS model as well? just curious if the 507k and this are the same in terms of height
I use a handheld light and transition to gun and white light as well because I have a kid in the house. I still don't like pointing a weapon until I know it's a threat. What handheld light set up were you using?
At a USPSA competition, my gun slid out of my holster when I sat down in a chair at the beginning of a walk through (I had the retention too low like an idiot). I use my carry gun to compete but in an OWB holster, and my gun landed and remained perfectly upside down on my RMR. It was unharmed but maybe it would have been if it was a different optic? I ended up then getting first overall at that match 🤣
Mr cowan, my procedure for dot brightness is to point my handgun at a white wall, activate my WML, and then adjust brightness to where it is easily visible even through the backsplash of the white light. I figure if I'm not shooting b8-c's at 25 for max precision, I don't need to worry terribly about optic bloom taking away from precision. Or rather, I'm not so good that the brightness slows me down. Would you say that is a fair procedure?
Which EPS would you recommend for a CZ P-07/Glock 19 sized carry gun? I’ve only seen the EPS carry mentioned for the sub compacts like the P365 so I’m curious if the EPS is better for something a little bigger.
I noticed with holosun 507k I lose my iron sites on my sig macro so I was wondering would the holosun eps carry give you a co witness or 1/3 witness or something where I don’t lose my irons

Both the Shield Plus and the 507K survived the prolonged drenching and both performed very well under the circumstances but I have to say that I look forward to using the EPS Carry I have on order when I have to qualify next time.
That experience made you want a closed emitter?
This is outstanding information. Thank you.
Thank you Aaron!
Finally! I've been waiting for mine on backorder since July. It's the green MRS version with solar and auto-adjustment. Demo on my channel.
This is Aaron’s version of the “Are you not entertained” meme from Gladiator.
The savages only came for the patio block carnage.
I’m kinda relieved I didn’t have to go through t the stress of waiting to see if it shattered or not. 😂
Totally off topic I have the same forearm brace for tendonitis.... Great Review as always
The eps carry with the mrs (multiple reticle sight) does have the solar back up if someone needs it.
Aw man… I was really looking forward to all of the duty tests for this optic…
Take.My.Money!! I'm excited for this to be available.
The latest 365XL (TAC PAC) I took home retains it’s rear sight.
Drop it. Don’t drop it. I will be watching your videos no matter what. Thank you for taking the time to do the reviews.
Nice video! My next optic purchase
There's rumbling the ACSS Vulcan is gonna find its way into this model....guess we'll find out at Shot Show 2023 🤞
Aaron, Did you have to put an adapter plate on on the Sig to accept that footprint, or will it direct mount to the slide?
That was a nice insight !
Definitely the best red dot reviewer, but I am a little disappointed to not see a drop test.
It doesn't come w/ screws??
Holosun list a couple different models on their website, there is the "EPS Carry" and the "EPS Carry MRS" both come in different reticle and color configuration. But the EPS Carry MRS has a solar failsafe, the EPS Carry does not. Other then that they appear to be identical.
Eps carry has 6 models. 2moa red or green, 6 moa Red or green, MRS with solar failsafe which is a 2moa dot and 32 moa circle red or green.
Should work great on a Lever action as well. The review I was waiting for!
YAY ANOTHER HOLOSUN VID!
Great video! We cant to get our hands on one
It's very likely built with the same electronics and the same metallurgy as their other builds like the 507C and 509T; just with less of it, since they don't have the solar panel. I wouldn't have any problems trusting it. Holosun has really done well in pistol red-dots world.
If i have suppressor height sights now, would i have to change them due to the lower deck height?
What is that ring thing you have for the support-hand finger when shooting with a flashlight?
I put this on my Glock 45 cause it fits it quite nice! Works great wonderful. Awesome optic
I think the eps carry replaces the 407/507 series and for EPS replaces the 508t.
@@taranjitgill94 yeah thats most likely the move for Holosun
if you swap this on a gun that is cowitnessing perfectly with the 507k, will it then cowitness with this EPS model as well? just curious if the 507k and this are the same in terms of height
Sorry for the dumb question Aaron. May I ask what brand shirt that is? the gray one.
Had I known how popular this thing is, I would have snagged it months ago, now I gotta wait forever for it
Has 170K subscribers and “I’m not a UA-camr”
Thought that was funny!
Btw you’re the best when it comes to optic reviews and torture test.
Oof trump supporters and low standards.
This optic is on my really short list. I've been looking at it for a while now. It's not on the shelf anywhere right now though.
Whats your recommendation on the eps versus the eps carry for a staccato c2?
I use a handheld light and transition to gun and white light as well because I have a kid in the house. I still don't like pointing a weapon until I know it's a threat. What handheld light set up were you using?
At a USPSA competition, my gun slid out of my holster when I sat down in a chair at the beginning of a walk through (I had the retention too low like an idiot). I use my carry gun to compete but in an OWB holster, and my gun landed and remained perfectly upside down on my RMR. It was unharmed but maybe it would have been if it was a different optic? I ended up then getting first overall at that match 🤣
Good lookin' optic!
It's not available yet, but they have a version with the solar on it and the multi reticle system with circle and dot.
Pretty late to the party but I’m kinda concerned about the no dust rating vs the 509t and 508t anyone have any experience with dust, sand?
Mr cowan, my procedure for dot brightness is to point my handgun at a white wall, activate my WML, and then adjust brightness to where it is easily visible even through the backsplash of the white light. I figure if I'm not shooting b8-c's at 25 for max precision, I don't need to worry terribly about optic bloom taking away from precision. Or rather, I'm not so good that the brightness slows me down.
Would you say that is a fair procedure?
Sounds reasonable to me.
Much obliged, boss.
just discovered you. great stuff. very professional and serious attitude.
would love to see a review of the bul ms-1 rds. thanks.
Sucks you’re having to go to patreon only but you’re one of the few that will get me to consider paying for it.
Can you please the new EOTech handgun optic that came out what a year ago but reviews on it is scarce.
You mentioned only trusting Duracell. I have a collection of energizer batteries. How do you feel about those?
I'm here for his experience, expertise and invaluable information. I don't mind his arrogance, sarcasm and a light touch of humility.
What color dot would you recommend & what size 2moa or 6moa for home defense & carry on glock 23
Which EPS would you recommend for a CZ P-07/Glock 19 sized carry gun? I’ve only seen the EPS carry mentioned for the sub compacts like the P365 so I’m curious if the EPS is better for something a little bigger.
The EPS is a bigger optic. I’d recommend seeing them in person before making a choice.
I noticed with holosun 507k I lose my iron sites on my sig macro so I was wondering would the holosun eps carry give you a co witness or 1/3 witness or something where I don’t lose my irons
