  • Hi! I’m tomomo.
Thank you for visiting my weekday video.
I live in a small town 2 hours drive from Tokyo.
    I’m a happy mom of two (👦🏻16 + 👧🏻10) and two cats (😺😇Picku 18.5 + 🐈 Momiji 16).
    ------------------------
    In this video…
My kids were on spring holiday, so I helped my daughter to clean her drawer. We threw away all the handaouts…notebooks… piece of paper …😅.
Now it’s clean that we can make a fresh start!
(In Japan, the new school year begins in April.)
I hope you’ll enjoy my life in rural 🇯🇵 Japan!

I love, love, love the fox shrine!!!! Thank you!!! It's much larger than I had imagined. Happy Birthday to your son. And, yes, your daughter speaks English very well. She has such cute, bubbly energy. I loved seeing the Japanese countryside again, especially when you went camping. That's a lovely camp site. I love the sound of rivers. Here, school ends in May for many. That means it is a super busy time. Also, spring sports practices start. And we can start putting in cold-weather plants like peas and potatoes in the garden. In April, my weekends are just like my weekdays--work all the time before deadlines. I forgot exactly what you said but "take-out" "carry-out" and getting "food to go" all has the same meaning here. If you eat at the restaurant, we say you are "dining in." McDonalds calls their pancakes "hotcakes" here. It's an older term but everyone knows it. We also call them "flapjacks." In my family, we call maple syrup "pancake syrup" and imitation syrup "lies and deceit." 😂 We generally eat pancakes in butter and maple syrup although I like chocolate chip pancakes too. Wishing you all the best teaching at university and looking forward to your next video.

Hi, Leah! My daughter said Arigato= Thank you for your kind word.
Sounds like very busy spring you'll have! Do you have a big garden that you can plant many veggie?
I didn't know you say hotcakes too! And lies and deceit....😂.
We have many things that we have to call "lies and deceit" in Japan.
I said "take-out" and I didn't learn we can use this phrase abroad! Good to know that.
My lecture at uni has just started last week and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom and beautiful🌸.
I can't wait to show you in the next video.
Until then, please take care of yourself! I hope you'll survive in your busy season!
      Love♡tomomo

I feel the same in spring, busy busy! While it's not a new school year (we have summer break and then start new grade in fall) the final quarter begins, and so does end of year testing. Our family also has a lot of spring birthdays, (our teenager just turned 16 too!) and our wedding anniversary too. Love your cat, also love camping, my 16yo did a camping trip with friends for their birthday. I'm new to your channel but love it already!

    ¡Hola qerida Tomomo!
Thanks for the video, always interesting.
Congratulations to your son on his 16th birthday, you had a great time, fried chicken is always a good option.😊
About your camping getaway, we loved that clean river with that beautiful environment.
How funny is Momiji in the futon closet, the favorite place to sleep...one question, did she eat pancakes in the end?😋
Congratulate your daughter for organizing her clothes and the drawer with her things so well...I dread the moment of changing the closet for the new season... 🙄it's a lot of work, but the heat will soon come...
We also liked the stream near your house, with so many small fishes, everything so clean... wonderful.
Your daughter speaks English well, she has a good teacher 🤗, it is important to practice languages, because if you don't, you will forget it and then you will be lazy to get into it.
By the way, I loved the doll that hangs in the backpack, I love those things...🤩
About childhood, I admit that I was always very independent, my three older sisters didn't pay much attention to me...they were already preteens and I played alone, they didn't want to play with me anymore. Being independent let you know how to entertain yourself and have imagination for inventing games. This helps you a lot, especially not getting bored and being decisive, at least I think so...
Here it is rare to see a cat taken outside on a leash, I have seen it very few times...it is very curious.
About our days...everything was very calm, it was cold and it rained a lot, now we have sun...
Last Saturday we went to Madrid capital, there were many people in the center, there was expectation because the wedding of the mayor of Madrid, a person considered a eligible bachelor, was being celebrated.
This man and the bride come from an old money family, he is not very handsome and many people laugh at his unattractive face, although he laughs at it, he has a sense of humor, the topic of the wedding had some controversy because he is 21 years older than the bride, so everyone thinks that instead of children he will almost have grandchildren, that is a bit cruel, but there was debate on television and radio these days about the age difference in marriages.
If you are curious to see what the couple looks like, you can search Google Images used this words: “fotos hola alcalde madrid”
She, who comes from a family with money preferred to wear a dress that, with some alterations, her grandmother and mother have worn, I think it is a nice detail.
And I went to Primark which is a low-cost store from Ireland (does it exist in Japan?), here is very popular for the prices and I bought a Kuromi t-shirt, Primark had a collection to celebrate Hello Kitty's 50 years, I imagine that In Japan you will celebrate it a lot.
These days Japan has been in the news a lot, they show us images of Sakura, they are so beautiful, I imagine you will be enjoying it a lot...this reminds me of a perfume that I once bought from Elizabeth Arden called sakura green tea , I liked the package and bought it, although the smell did not last long on my skin type, but I admit that it was beautiful because of the Japanese design, you know, the power of marketing.🤣
It was also in the news in Spain, that in Japan there are a tour in Tokyo to visit the more cleanest public bathrooms, The journalist said that it was popular among tourists, I think it's something super curious... there were some amazing bathrooms, clean and cared.
In the last comment, you asked me why on Easter people wore that KKK-type clothing, well, it's something that comes from the Middle Ages in Spain, many condemned to death had to put on that pointed hood, then it was used again in the 15th century for Holy Week, it was a way to do penance, plus everyone dresses the same, there is no social difference, no one knows who you are under those clothes.
Regarding the reason why many people do not like Holy Week, it is because they do not like traditional things, they see it as archaic and out of place in the twenty-first century...we believe that it is a tradition that comes from our ancestors, it is beacause they use figures and symbols because in ancient times many people were illiterate and these figures served to educate them in the Catholic faith. Many churches are full of symbols that many people do not know now.
For example, in Holy Week something very important is the music, there is a specific type of composition that is made in Spain and that is used only to accompany processions with images of Jesus and the Virgin Mary, these compositions are called “marches of Holy Week”, and they are very recognizable by the cadence of the music, it has to serve to keep the rhythm, as if you were being cradled in a cradle, which is how you have to keep the images.
I'll give you two examples, the first composition is very modern, it was composed by a young teacher from a primary school, you have to put this on UA-cam
    /watch?v=9zjR9Bo5TxQ ( the name is Mary´s hope)
The other music is: watch?v=hcV8bz4srkE ( the name is God of the hope)
Is only two examples of this type of music that is made in Spain for the Faith.
Imagine hearing this at night, in the crowded streets, with musicians playing live...it's exciting even if you don't believe in God.
    Religion is a complicated subject.
Finally, I'll show you a small video of something that could be scary out of context. It's an example of Holy Week. watch?v=buTttkiAXYU You'll see the swinging images (they're heavy, there are people carrying them underneath) and the music band playing "death is not the end"...this is religion from the point of view of the faith, the death is not the end, life goes much further....
Tomomo dear, I'm sorry to write so much...I always like to tell you many things!!!
We send you a big hug, another for your husband and children and a very big one also for Momiji.🤗
Until next time, take good care of yourselves friends...😘😘😘
From Madrid, much love, J.C and Silvia.

      Hola! Silvia and Juan Carlos!
I loved to read your message. You tell me all the interesting topics all the time.
Thank you for educating me😂! You are my teacher.
Yes! Momiji got a piece of pancakes.
She doesn't eat much, I think she always wants to check the taste when she smells butter and fish.😻
I've checked the mayor of Madrid's wedding!
I thought he doesn't look bad☺️. A little short for Spanish people though?
      Her dress looks really gorgeous!
Age gab marriages are always controversial, right?
As women get older, we have the disadvantage of being unable to have kids, which makes it difficult for us to choose younger partners like men can.
This may make women feel that there is a difference between men and women and that it is unfair.
I believe we don't have Primark here!
      I'll wait it's coming!
I didn't know Kitty is 50 years old. Wow.
I've checked out both of the two pieces of music you told me, and I thought they were both solemn pieces of music.
I can feel the long history!
Thank you so so much to telling me your life.
      It's so amazing to know!
Thank you for your big love from Spain.
I'll send big big love from Japan to you and JC❤️❤️❤️
      Talk to you soon!
