I live in a small town 2 hours drive from Tokyo.
I’m a happy mom of two (👦🏻16 + 👧🏻10) and two cats (😺😇Picku 18.5 + 🐈 Momiji 16).

I planted some flowers in my little garden. I’m happy to see small flowers are swinging and celebrating the Japanese spring🪻🍀.
For lunch, I made curry udon using instant udon noodles and 🍜 ramen.
For dinner, I cooked Okonomiyaki which my daughter asked me to make for a while.
At night I had some beer and Kaki-pi (rice crackers).

What a great time you had on your father-in-law's birthday, 77 years surrounded by his family... you have cooked very delicious things, homemade always tastes better, although it is laborious but rewarding. How beautiful the handmade card with the grandfather's face, and the picture of the family, very endearing.

About spring, it is raining a lot here and it is cold, I have not changed the bedding yet, I still have the warm sheets, they are made with a special fabric called "coralina", a type of very fluffy fabric that makes you very happy to get into bed on cold day ...when the heat comes I will use the cotton ones.
How beautiful the surroundings of your town are, and I was fascinated to see a public telephone box, in Spain they have eliminated all of them, a shame.

About discussions of the couple... you have to be patient and put a lot of love into it every day, it is complicated by the routine, the daily obligations, but you have to be persistent and see in your partner that person that you fell in love with and that you continue to fall in love with. Juan Carlos and I have been together for 24 years...and here we are, despite our different characters.
Today the 29th and yesterday the 28th are holidays in Spain, we don't work, it's Easter, there are many traditions, we eat a dessert called “torrijas” and other traditon is to watch the movie Ben-Hur (the Charlton Heston´s one) on the television and every year we see it, we know the dialogues by heart.
In Spain, in the Holy Week Catholic people take to the streets a representation of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary in his last days, before being crucified and after, they are very valuable images carried by parishioners, this year it is raining a lot throughout Spain and many they have not been able to leave the churches because they could break down, if you put in Google images “procesiones de semana santa” ( this is not the kkk take it easy....) you can get an idea.There are people who don't like it at all and others who do, it's a tradition and It's part of our culture.
There is something that is celebrated on Holy Thursday, yesterday, that is something very peculiar, it is about something that happens in Malaga, in the south of Spain, the legionnaires sing a very peculiar song carrying the image of a Christ on the cross, it is about of the Christ of the Good Death, the song is titled The Bridegroom of Death, originally it was sung in bars in 1920, this song and the legionnaires are linked to the popular tradition, it is very strange, but super exciting, it is retransmitted on television for all of Spain and we see it every year, the song talks about a young man whose girlfriend dies and he enlists in the legion. He becomes very brave because he doesn't mind dying, no one knew who he was until he die in convate and they discover a letter that he carries in his pocket and it was from his girlfriend...the death in the Catholic religion does not mean the end, we defeat death by having faith in the resurrection, which is what we celebrate these days.

We have looked for Ararechan but we have not watched her on spanish television, although she is very cute...Juan Carlos, like many Spanish children of the time, is an enthusiastic admirer of Mazinger Z, he has all the episodes on Dvd and he watches them sometimes on Japanese, he knows the opening song in Japanese, he loves Mazinger Z, a super fan since he was little, it marked an era in Spain without a doubt.

When I lived in Canada, I always wondered why people were carrying some eggs in the baskets around spring😂.
I have never seen such a big traditional event for Easter and I was so fascinated to watch that.

That's my daughter's sewing set. She will need to take it to school for Home economic class next year (I mean from this April is the new next year for us).
She had many options to choose and she chose the snoopy one.
She really likes the package. Inside is normal things...like needles and threads. ( And I had to put her name on the every single small ones!)

It was your father-in-law's birthday (Happy Birthday, Sir!) but I got the gift. Thank you for all the lovely footage of the Japanese countryside. It made me very happy. Today, we are have a sunny day after many weeks of clouds. I hope I can get my work done so I can go out for a while before I have class tonight. I'm so envious of all your flowers. It is Easter this Sunday which is suppose to be a time of flowers and Spring. But we are too far north for Spring to come yet. However, the shops will be full of beautiful lilies, tulips, daffodils, daisies, and hyacinth. As always, I feel honored to be invited into your home and life. There is so much that is different and interesting....and lots of things that are the same. Be well, my friend!

Dear Tomomo,
your garden looks colourful and like spring itself! In Germany this weekend is Easter and it is a very important feast for christian people. People usually decorate their homes with bunny figures and colourful eggs this time of year and children are on vacations.
I am sorry to hear about the fight with your husband. I once heard that it may help to write down who is responsible for what work in the house and for example put that note on the refrigerator. So it is clear and equal or fair for everybody and avoids fighting. Maybe not work for every family of course but I am sure you will figure something out that will work for you :)
