I've had the pleasure of watching Rabeas videos for a few years now, and he's helped relieve me of a fair few dollars particularly neuraldsp plugins, but the reason for this comment is to highlight just how I feel his playing has advanced, he also has a very astute musical mind IMO 😉
It’s always good to watch these reviews. Rabea chucks loads of gain on, as well as clean and you can see what that product is like for a similar situation to myself. A lot of reviewers put a small amount of overdrive on and that’s about it.
There're some very familiar sounds in that box. I know them from the 70's and 80's late night psycodelic music journeys on great fm stations. Long before digital, analog lulled us into that glassy eyed dreamy place crackling over the airwaves. Good stuff, good jams, good pedal.
You are one of my favorite guitar players in this time era, appreciate all that you do for this world of music. Thank you so much. so many people putting on these videos about the equipment, they make it about them and it just comes out shitty, you happen to just put it out there about the equipment and break it down into the most understandable way. Thank you again. none of your stuff is boring and is very informational compared to any of the other videos out there.
When you said ‘saturation on full’ instant happy days. I’ve had a 202 for a while and that saturation knob and the tone controls are magic. Now, if I could only play like you so I could get more out of that box.
What did you end up using instead? I love the sounds in my Delverb but need to switch more easily e.g. midi capable or the ability to cycle between presets.
Killer as always. 👏 Just ordered one of these. Forgot about it until I stumbled upon this vid :) can’t wait to pair this with my looper 🙃 boss makes good shit.
Great pedal ! I just loaded UA's Galaxy Echo plugin into Logic Pro... which emulates the 1973, Roland RE-201 Space Echo - a tape delay/spring reverb system that created warm, warped, unabashedly analog echo effects.
@@shaner36 I don't have the pedal just commenting on Rabea's use of it. I only have the plugin...Both the pedal and it's plugin version are recreations of the original Roland's Space Echo RE201.
When I am thinking of getting a pedal nowadays I honestly only look for a Rebea vid on said pedal to get the jist. If Rebea doesn't have one on the pedal, I have to pass on it. All your gear vids are insanely fantastic. Literally the best on the internets. Period.
Rootbeer is the best man! Playing is amazing! SOUNDS INSANELY GOOD and i never say that. You know what ur doing man. Sounds like the Edge on those crystal clear harmonics.
Amazing playing as always.. still not convinced by the sound though... it's fine... doesn't to my ears sound like a vintage Space Echo though... same neighbourhood, different street.
I'm not much of a social media consumer. Can anyone suggest where I can follow Bea to find out about his music? YT seems to be mostly commercials now. By the by...fuck I miss Toska.
does anyone who has this think it's just as good as a volante or can at least fill the shoes of a volante? I like the looks of the space echo, I like the sound, but I also like the sound of binson style delays which you can get from the volante...plus I like the individual feedback heads. I dunno it's a hard decision and i def don't have money for both. Im trying to do both pink floyd sounds like from echoes and stuff, and this can get pretty close, and some radiohead sounds and just mixing them with other weird effects and synth pedals and weird reverbs and the such. I guess i could always sell one and get the other if I don't like one. If this were $100 cheaper....it would make my decision for me.
Volante's strength is the Drum Echo - its designed really to emulate an Echo Rec. The tape side of things isn't as good as the El Capistan (probably deliberate otherwise no one would buy the El Cap V1 or V2). The El Capistan is the real comparison to this unit. The Strymon is probably more consumer friendly with the modulation and ambience on the decay but this one seems more accurate to a vintage unit.
@@GeordieGuitarGuy right on thanks. I actually got a deal on a volante several months back and is a true delight. Still haven’t tried the re-202, but I will as soon as i run into someone who has one. Thanks for the response. Oh and ive never messed with the el capistan, but thats another one i’d like to mess with. Take it easy bro!
Cool video man. Sounds excellent. I've got a question not related to this... Line 6 Helix... is it any good? A few people have been saying how much they love it and I always remember Line 6 being pretty bad many years ago so I'm curious if you have any videos on the Helix? I've been looking at your list of videos and can't seem to find anything (but you do have a lot of videos). Anyway, love your playing and love great channel man!
Been waiting months for mine and been told by Andertons it will be at least 3 months more. Possibly many more :( Absolutely gutted to spend so much and not get one :(
Love how you go from wonderful soundscapes to beautiful strange sounds! But here is my question, maybe to anyone who can answer: I own a DD500 (yeah it needs some deep diving to really shine…) which you reviewed quite a while ago, which also has the spaceecho algorithm built in. I understand that the new pedal is a much more accurate recreation, but, as I don‘t own one, I have to ask, do you really hear such a difference? Is it less digital? Is the „tape-effect“ more accurate? Somehow that’s some kind of problem for me with boss pedals, as they tend to bring out stuff regularly, but somehow I always miss something. For example: the UA starlight, more expensive, less functional, but some outstanding sounds (god, that aged effect….!!!)walrus audio D1v2, instant buy! Here, hmmm, I am missing some „omg“-sound/moment whatsoever, which would make it stand out more. I guess it depends on what you want, for what application and setting! Anyways, great review, thanks for the wonderful playing!
Yeah it is absolutely more accurate. There's also $25 plugins that sound moreaccurate than the dd500... But you bought the dd500 because you wanted to have EVERYTHING, right? Yeah, you need a separate tape echo plugin to have a _great_ tape echo, but who cares? You've got loads of stuff in the dd500 to have fun with. Surely you didn't buy the dd500 just for the tape echo?
You really need to experiment and experience a Roland SRE 555. it is amazing and I can’t understand why it not currently made. It is truly a collectible piece of gear. You can make angels singing sound by maxing most volumes at same time. Like you would hear in an old Hercules movie when he used his muscle tearing down buildings.. and I got that from guitar straight into 555, then 555 into one of the older peavey acoustic amps. Just hold a basic cord and fast finger pick strings. You’ll be amazed when you here it.
SO MANY COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!!!! but this video was helpful nonetheless, and i was able to get a good feel for the product (which is what i was looking for). I bailed early on it because of the interruptions though.
It's nice, but the tape delay plugin that's included in Logic's $200 price tag is nice, too. No audience on the planet is going to notice the difference between that and a $30 delay pedal in a live context.
No I don’t think so. As I say in the end of this video. They shouldn’t really be compared in my opinion. Other than comparing the delay tone itself against one of the delays in volante. But then RE-202 is really a modern recreation of the original, whereas volante offers all sorts of other things like a looper and Multiple different delay algorithms. So I guess I think they’re sort of too different to directly compare.

Totally agree. Rabea's sense of melody has evolved over the years. He, too, has gotten me to let of a few dollars for gear based on his reviews.

Best demo that I've seen of this pedal! Amazing sounds!
Rabea I don't think you realize just how awesome you are man. Appreciate all the music you share.
Nice to see an amazing guitarist doing the delicate melodic ambient style, as well as the heavy shredding.
The soundscapes that you create are absolutely immense and you are such an inspiration

Awesome demo and incredible guitar playing. I'm sold going to buy very shortly. Will post my own impressions of it when I get it. Thank you Rabea

A real one or this digital one?
@@uelude This was part of my rig in the 80s and 90s. I borrowed it from a friend.
Why didn't they make the preamp circuit analog? The "saturation" sounds bad.

I think in this video the loadboxes I used were the Suhr reactive IR’s. Running into the computer with the neural cabs for the IR’s
