@@Nick-gr1rc imo the 8kx just about wins here. The G2 has 10% higher ppd so is 10% sharper but the 8kx has a larger sweetspot and much larger fov. G2 colours are better though. Its close, but i favour 8kx (when u can use the larger fov settings).

@@Tyke18 I have the g2 and a two month old 8kx and I can tell you the g2 def wins over the older version of the 8kx. Def not better at all in terms of clarity. Also I wanted Sebastian’s opinion since he has the newer one with the new chip if the clarity has changed and how it compares to the g2. Hopefully we will find out in his full review.
@@Nick-gr1rc facts are facts, G2 has 10% higher ppd than any version 8KX so its 10% more crisp. 8kx has 80% bigger fov than G2. So overall i enjoy the 8kx's display more than G2. I had a G2 and 8kx and sold the G2.

I had a Pimax 8KX for some time and I think if is the best headset. I've have a Vive, Vive Pro, Vive Pro 2 (returned) and HP Reverb G2. The aspect I like is the amount of option in the PiTool and the flexibility with the IPD. I have a massive IPD of 75mm, the 8KX goes to 70mm with the manual adjustment and then I can increase this with software adjustment to get to 75mm. The lenses have a massive sweet spot and I can see very clearly. I run this with a RTX2080 and it works fine. In regards to IPD and focus, and other headsets, the Vive Pro 2 was horrible and the G2 was slightly better but still blurry.

What resolution and FPS do you get with the RTX2080 ?
I bought the HP G2, but it's impossible to use eyeglasses with it. Pimax 5k super, on the other hand, can accommodate my eyeglasses comfortably. And strangely, with Pimax 5k, I don't even need eyeglasses to see the picture clearly. So Pimax is now my default headset. The sweet spot of Pimax 5k is small, but once tighten up, the picture is perfect.

Pimax has improved their overall quality beginning with the release of the Artisan and 8K Plus IMHO.
Just bought the pimax 8KX 4 weeks ago and it is YES and NO for beeing the greatest VR experience so far for me! Yes, because of the resolution, POV and it works with basically every! PC game (supported with Pimax experience). Btw pimaxe home (screen where you can select and edit games and settings of the headseat inside VR) is going to be DISCONTINUED. I known they prepare for the next GEN Pimax headsets with new eco-system. And here is the NO: I needed almost 2 weeks to get the headset to work (after costumer support replied) and no Forum and no seller support could help me out! It was that you simply had to deactivate the INTEGRATED GPU in the BIOS. Until i came to that point, i was suggested 10 different other ways, which i was almost at the point of returning the headset! BUT it finally worked. Next NO is the QUALITY!!!! The headset sits very comfortable on the head, for like 2 hours! then it gets super hot and uncomfortable! There is a thin layer of softening material on the FOAM. AND IT CAME OFF after only 2 weeks of use!!! I used the headset for maximum 8-10h per week!!! How can this be??? Something so crucial! Absolute NO GO at that price point! BUT: atm Pimax has a 'monopol' on these headsets and therefor has no competition in this range of POV . Yes i knew about pimax is going to have lots of issues. I love to solve problems...but why is there no clear setup manual software wise and how to prepare your PC (BIOS). And the Foam quality....OMG! In the end i think that i am just so blown away from the experience i have while gaming (Its just like no other headset!) that i forget about all those shortcomings! And i am an german architect! Quality is the Absolute for me! I contacted the seller and they want to give me a discount on the price and send me replace foams...but they are going to be same sh*** materials...well.
I really dislike that most VR headset makers insist on having 68mm or 70mm as the max IPD, and with Quest & Reverb they make the face plate for people with small or narrow heads, it is almost as if they are making them for kids not adults. The original Vive and Vive Pro went to 74mm, which is better for those of us with a large IPD.

I have a modified Pimax 8KX. I really did enjoy it for about the last year and a half, but halfway through 2021 software department took another dump (talk more about that below) Finally got my DMAS speakers a month ago (took them 2 years with lies and excuses) and the speakers were a big let down. I switched to my HyperX that are 10x better.
Heck, even had the Vive mod for the sound and it was much better then the DMAS Pimax released.
Pimax is super behind still on their Pimax product, even after all these years it’s the same old story with them. They should not even be feeding bs to consumers about a 12k model, when they still cannot manage there front and back end in their current product. Plus their Customer service is still horrid.
** Also for everyone waiting for 12k don’t hold your breath. Look at the 8KX release track record, shipping etc it was not good at all, even before COVID, after the backer program and now.
Also watch the Pimax 12K event, last year. Pay attention to their verbiage, they do not have enough Companies on board with them and still cannot do it on their own. It’s more of a cry for help video for needing support by other companies to invest into making their parts and headsets. Don’t expect them to be releasing anything this year, maybe even next the rate they’re going. They have and still are filled with broken promises and false information to the public.
This new model review sounds exactly like my current modded 8KX. Colors are washed out, feels cheap still on the strap, the head phone hanging cable. Everything is the same currently to my version. Note: Using Pi Experience is everyone’s best bet. Just have to search the web (not Pimax site) to find a copy that works sound, with 90hz etc. Once you tweak in Pi Experience you can pull a little better picture out of it.
My Varjo, I received not to long ago has been flawless and honestly it’s so much more crisp, less hassle and more immersive given the picture you don’t even notice much of an FOV loss when comparing the Aero to the 8KX because on the Aero the picture is that much better.
I gave Pimax so many chances. Bought all their accessories, including their “optical cable” which should be standard in this new model but it’s not included, via watching this review. It’s crap like this that leaves a lot of consumers a bad taste I their mouth.
Pimax has known about so many software issues and still they have so many of the issues still present. Updates for Pi tool then Pi experience and firmware changes. Nvidia updates a drive guess what issues happen and there is not fixes by Pimax, it’s up to the consumer to get crafty to fix all themselves.
I really do hope they see this comment and really take note. Fix your current software issues. Focus on your customer service across the board. I really do hope they start taking better care of their customers and their current product. I would love to be proved wrong by the end of the year and Pimax can make me feel dumb for this review and comments. I am challenging them to prove me wrong.

That sounds like marketing wank, you don't really need an optical cable for anything that short.
An optical cable would actually add to the latency.

Well, at least Pimax is the only one who actually delivers a working 8k HMD at a reasonable price. No one else did. Yeah, many problems through out the year, but they are working hard to fix those problems. This is what this video all about. Pimax 8KX now is a mature product that can stably deliver 8k and 90hz to you.
I have to give them credit for the achievement, because no one else can match it.
And once you watch the 200 POV, you will not use any other HMD. The experience is just THAT GOOD ! 12k, 20k, 40k resolution? It doesn't matter. HDR color? Yeah, just a little better. But 200 degree POV is the real key. It changes the VR experience so much that every other HMD maker should follow it.
@@GoldSrc_ it’s not an actual optical cable. It’s essentially their version of a 6m cable with one less USB.
It’s lighter and should have been included to be honest. No latency issues with it, same performance just a way to cash grab additional.

The point is everything in that video identifies everything that has been an issue since the backer program. There is no evidence by Pimax, anything was updated in that HMD other then them sending an HMD and making the statement to MRTV that it’s better. What is a huge red flag is the same problems in that (refresh) Headset as it has been in previous.
Also none of the games are 8K and the resolution is still not a true 4k per eye based on software in the games. Upscaling 4k per eye is two different things, then being a true native. The native option is still upscaling 4k per eye.
But still being that games are not even being built 8K the 12k seems great on paper but they could have completely stuck with a 10x better 8k model and still sell their refresh with a huge profit as long as they fixed their business ethics.
Owing my Aero now for a few weeks. It’s blows the 8kx out of the water and it’s so damn clear that FOV 115 still looks good enough that I do not think of 200 FOV. Which also most games were not formatted above 120 FOV still. The Pimax software works to render it to trick our eyes and it works great no complaints.
I wish you could see what I see when comparing my 8KX and my Aero. Lenses make a huge difference based on type and quality. Aero is not 8k and they outperform in every aspect except the FOV difference based on number.

You can also match or surpass the reverb G2 clarity and ppd and close the gap in clarity between it and the varjo aero simply by rendering moderately above 100% steam resolution and/or adding sharpening with the free FSR mod and have up to 200ﾟ FOV all at the same time which is unparalleled.. Also any distortions go away the closer your eyes are to the lenses with a thinner a face foam whilst also optimizing fov.. Also the 8KX has a much larger sweet spot than the reverb G2.. the 8kx Also has a much more user friendly greater IPD range than the G2.. With my IPD at 71 mm I could never use the G2 without eye strain

Had an index on the 2nd batch but had to sell it due to job issues. Slowly got an og vive with index controllers but looking at headsets with higher fov and I'm debating between vive pro 2 or a pimax. Index was great but I want something that has less problems. Any Feedback?
I really love the FOV on my 5K+. I don't have enough GPU to run the 8KX now - but maybe I'll upgrade after the 4000 series GPUs are out.

If it were me I would wait until the Pimax 12k QLED comes out, then just keep your controllers and base stations and there will be no compromises!

I tried upgrading from the index to the 8KX as well. Didn't work out for me. Couldn't get the IPD or screen alignment right causing constant eye strain. That was the killer and I could not fix it for the life of me. Stock mic was also bad I think my mic may have actually been faulty but I'm not sure. If you do decide to try it I'd get it from Amazon or a reseller with a good return policy in case it doesn't work out for you. I really wanted to like the 8KX but just couldn't.
I started " alyx " in index but then waited for my pimax '' 8kx " to continue it. The 4k per eye is unbeatable for the presentation there. Its a massive improvement and recommend it. The " index " feels like a 5 - year old headset in comparison because the panels were from 5 years ago !
I just got an 8KX after upgrading from the 5K+. I only use it for sim racing, flight & other seated experiences.
I never had a problem with the distortions in the 5K+ and don't in the 8KX. God rays though are sometimes an issue - they get a lot better when dialing in software but still annoying in some scenes at night. I wasn't as blown away by the increase in resolution as I expected to be, it is a great improvement but somethings are still hard to see at a glance when looking at dials and displays.
Overall, for sim racing at least I'd still give it a 9/10. It has what I want - a very wide FOV, good panels & lighthouse tracking. All the other stuff I don't really care about.

@@mixedrealityTV Just hooked up my Vision 8KX, and also had the failed firmware update - luckily it succeeded upon retry. Sadly the warping is as bad as ever, so maybe it hasn't been adjusted for my specific model. The colors are also really disappointing. Guess I'll revert to my OG Vive again...
If they had shown off the 12k QLED to you guys and it stood up to the hype, I would had already bought an 8kx. As it stands I'll continue to hold off on Pimax headsets.

I belive the audio cable connecter on up-front side is not needed when using with Delux audio module as I am using it that way.
I bought my 8KX August of last year. So Seb wouldn't have experience with the previous production unit that I have. After adjusting the backlight brightness up, software brightness down a couple of notches, and bumping contrast up a couple of notches - the colors and black levels are BETTER than my G2. I can't use the G2 anymore. Yes, the G2 is more clear in the very center, but the sweet spot is tiny. 8KX has a much larger sweet spot. 8KX has a better overall picture. I also had a Varjo Aero that I returned. For me, there simply was no going back from the Pimax FOV. The immersion and fun factor are NEXT LEVEL for me in the Pimax. The Aero was more clear, but gameplay was "dull" in comparison. It was like looking at a window to another world (Aero) vs being in that world (8KX). That said, it took some time and settings changes for the 8KX to grow on me like that. My first impressions weren't so positive. I will be posting my full comparison in the Pimax reddit in the near future. Seb I'm really curious what your thoughts will be after using only the 8KX for 7+ days. I used the Aero for 7 days straight before going back to the 8KX, and the 8KX gave me the WOW experience I was hoping to get from the Aero.
Interesting that you were unhappy with the Aero. I'm still on the fence about getting the Aero when it comes out in Australia end of April.
I currently have the Oculus Quest 2 and the HP Reverb G2 V2 and really like them both, but love the Reverb G2.
In your opinion is the Pimax worth getting, I know they are working on the 12k but then there will be something else and something else.
@@handoromper7987 Well, definitely the 8KX in my opinion. If I played mainly MSFS2020 I would get the Aero. Since I play that and MANY other games, the 8KX is better overall for me - and not by a little. Pimax does have a trade-up offer that allows you to trade your 8KX and get 100% of the price you paid credited towards the purchase of the 12K when it comes time. Just keep in mind you need lighthouses (base station) tracking for the 8KX. If you can find someone who has an 8KX to try out that would be ideal. That said, I didn't love the 8KX until I dialed in the settings over the course of several sessions. My G2 is a dust collector. =D

The Aero will cost me $4000 au after I buy the 2 Base Stations. I know people say you only need one but if I'm going to spend $3670 what's another $329.
Will I need a controller to set the Aero up the first time?
@@handoromper7987 Hmmmm... I don't think you need a controller to setup the Aero (that I can recall) BUT you will need a controller to setup SteamVR tracking I THINK. Maybe you don't if you set it up for seated only. Sorry, not 100% sure. =D

You didn't mention which firmware and pitool versions the 8k x upgraded to? I noticed while unboxing there was the muffs for speakers. Maybe use those on the dmas speakers.
I already own the 5k which I love. Got the 8kx from amazon. I had tracking problems with it and pimax was kinda slow at dealing with the problem so I sent it back.
Well, the burning question is how to make sure that I am buying a revised version instead of some *old one*?

For the "Algo-rid-em" (Hehehe), my Vision 8K Plus is still alive and kicking (and enjoyable); I really hope they keep their promise on the 12k QLED.

You just have to find a sound sound program that increases the volume the base doesn't really pick up a lot but your sound I can't even turn mine up for that volume I use THX and then I also have one from Razor. And at about 30% it's real loud in my ears

Imho, you really should've waited and just done a full review. I'm not sure what the purpose of this preview really was. It's good to hear you give your former compadre a shout out since he put sooo much work into Pimax Experience. What I personally don't understand is why you discount the FOV in the 8kx. You literally drooled over Varjo and G2 but you are still wearing binoculars at the end of the day. Yes, the image quality in the 8kx isn't perfect, but the FOV is where the industry needs to go. There is a balance. And yes, I do own one. And I have also tried the G2 and agree for what you can see, the G2 does a better job... for what you can see. And that is where the Pimax differentiates itself. You can see more of the world with Pimax. I don't have that "caged in" feeling anymore where I feel like a deep sea diver with a mask on. Kudo's to Pimax for achieving a true balance between resolution and FOV.
I had the same firmware issue as Sebastian and even had to unninstall some drivers. The colors are really not that great bu I love the HMD. I use it only to play DCS and I cannot go back to non VR anymore. I also cannot see the distortions and have enouhh room for glasses. Just notice more of the good rays due to them. I am happy and I will buy the 12k when available.
So, for me a simple user of VR headsets and not knowledgeable in troubleshooting as you were told to do, I will pass on getting any Pimax headsets till they get their act together. i don't need these kind of expensive headaches- no matter how good the headset is.

The Vive Focus 3's streaming software just had a huge update released for it. Have you tried it out yet?
Supposedly the graphics are way better now.
Have you tried it with 4090? Was set up really difficult? Is there any website with clean instruction how to make it work flawlessly?

haha it only LOOKs big and heavy. it's surprisingly light, lighter than some of the smaller vr headsets out there
It’s a bit chunky Lol personally I think it’s slightly lighter than my q2, in terms of graphics I’ve heard it’s about the same or slightly less clear than the g2
If the distortion software is updated (and a lot better now) does that mean less distortion for older headsets like the 5k+ too? 🤔

I also recently had the firmware upgrade brick my headset, I had to download an older version of the firmware and manually install exactly as you described with command line tool, I then had to block pimax software with firewall config to stop it from trying to automatically download and update to the latest firmware, PIMAX You really do need to fix that... not an experience for the faint hearted.

@@CC-Pi thank you I actually found it by searching online for 2 hours lol I got it working I don’t have the base stations yet I just ordered them so far I’m liking it the fov is awesome I do have issues with Microsoft flight simulator I’m seeing black around me and distortions when I move my head but I hope it’s just because I don’t have base stations yet thanks for the link I still don’t have the latest fw and can’t get 90 hertz so I’ll try it
Great video Seb. Looks like Pimax may be finally hitting their stride. What is the FOV of the medium setting? Anyone?
FOV is hard to compare, it's kinda different for different people depending on how close your eyes get to the screens and your IPD and stuff, but the numbers I've read, for horizontal FOV Pimax Large is around 170 degrees, Pimax Normal is 150 degrees, Pimax Small is 130, "Potato" is 100.

I got one of these close to when they first came out. I have not been able to get the headset adjusted so that my eyes don’t feel like they are getting crossed. I have used the Pimax Experience software to make all types of adjustments and have not had any luck with it. I can only use the headset for about 30 minutes and even after that short amount of time my eyes feel crossed, even after I remove the headset for several minutes. I have kept the software and firmware updated but I tried it again a week ago and still no luck. The only reason I am still hanging onto the headset is in case I decide to do the upgrade when the 12KX comes out. If I decide I don’t want to do the upgrade I will probably just sell it.
Try unchecking Parallel Projection in Pimax Exp , and Go back and See
@@solarisaint1 Been there done that. I have spent hours trying to get it right. Now I am just waiting for my Varjo Aero to be shipped. When I bought the Pimax 8KX I thought I wanted the wide FOV but it turns out what I want more is the clarity for flight simming. What I really want is both! lol But clarity is what I want more.

impressive they were able to run both panels at 90 hz, xtal 8k cant do that at the same res, even at 75 hz the virtual link cable actually gets hot
Panels can do 114Hz but DisplayPort 1.4 not. So the bandwidth is the limitations here.
My 8kx does not work with 90hz Native mode. Wroks with upscaling but bad resolution.
I would like to know when they change back light and panel. I can not tell mine is changed one or not.
As I understood what he said; the production model is the upgraded parts from the pre-production model. What graphics card do you have? Is the ports on it capable of the bandwidth required?
You have to use the right version of Nvidia driver to get 90Hz. Hint: it's quite an old driver that supports 90Hz, not the latest driver.
@@Killswitch1411 ok fair enough. First time I looked at it was some time ago and it required regressing quite a few versions and each time Nvidia released a new version, it would break it. I have latest firmware but gave up trying with 90Hz.

It's in the "list" of what headsets I would recommend for people around me who are looking into VR headsets.
But I would add that it makes the list only if the person can get it to work at 90hz. 75hz is fine for me but isn't really ideal.
I had the same firmware problem recently, Pimax have the solution on there website, it is a bit tricky, but they are helpful if you ask.

Superinterested in the feeling of large FOV. One aspect of that is the increased feeling of speed in a driving or flying sim. This could be tested even in a simple program like the rocketflying floor in Ritchies Plank Experience. How does flying in 8KX feel compared to Quest 2? Does it feel "faster" does it make you feel sick or disorientated quicker? Does it feel "more intense like you will remember and think about this"`? Is it more scary when you are looking straight down?
It is without a doubt more "in your face" than others. Yeah...! Also do think some people might need more time to adept to all of that FOV being taken up by the screen.
18:15 Sebastian, check with someone else, but I don't think that's the DMAS. The KDMAS speakers with the earcups removed look exactly like the DMAS speakers, but they have a much weaker driver and/or different impedance or something (I don't know the technical details). That is why they *have* to be used with the on-ear earcups and also with the higher-end Pimax headsets you need to use the stereo loopback cable because the KDMAS speakers were designed for the lower-end headsets which only had one stereo audio jack, rather than two separate L+R jacks as the 8KX has.

What exactly did he mean I have to have an nvidia gpu? I have an amd 6900 xt and with some searching i've seen a few people who have said there's no problem. How will an AMD just "not work here"? It has me worried i'll be throwing away almost 2 grand on something that is somehow incompatible because it's not the right brand
The original production release can do 90hz though Amd Gpus seem to have better success since the first beta Firmware. Nvidia was hit & miss though Neal has had success with 2080Super.
The Optic Cable seems to work for some and not others.
Finally all the people who have never actually tried the " 8 kx " will shut up about so called " distortion " and warping that was fixed years ago. This headset was sensational and destroyed everything with the dual native 4k displays and tweakable options in " pi tool ". It just gets a bad reputation because its chinese ? I felt the " reverb " display had brightness but always appeared washed out in comparison ..
I have the G2, and 8kx with DMAS, and the DMAS is better. I believe something is wrong, or off in your setup. I set mine to 7.1, and it sounds amazing! I would suggest you give it another chance, and put some time into it, to be fair. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
that's because he's using the KDMAS without the earphone cups, I can tell with the headset he's reviewing, the wire going across the top on front of the headset, I just bought the 8kx DMAS newer revision headset and it has a much cleaner improved look with the wiring over the KDMAS version, there are no wires on the top in the front of the DMAS version, the KDMAS has the wires sticking out everywhere, and plus the 8kx DMAS doesn't come with earphone cups, mine didn't, I bought mine from the Pimax Store on Amazon, he didn't get the newer revision model, he got the KDMAS one, this review is off, and installation wasn't that bad, I didn't need to use command prompt or anything like that, everything installed fairly easy, some minor glitches and bugs at first, but after that everything works good once the headset is setup properly, this guy has been reviewing the KDMAS version in this video the whole time, I knew something wasn't quite right with this review

I truly have to ask why every HMD manufacturer doesn't do what HP did and use Valve's audio solution? I'm still happy with my Index and waiting for what Valve release next, but the competition would certainly have more of my interest if they did this.
If you get a chance to try an original production model. Highly recommend as it has more features and more compatibility. The revised loses all Compatibility with anything but a desktop RTX card and only supports 90hz.
I have the 8kx just for DCS. Its way to heavy for roomscale games and comfort is pretty bad. You need counterweights to make it comfy but then the added weight is 1kg.

Have had my new PiMax 8KX for about a month now and during that time it has worked for about a week.
The list of problems just gets longer and longer.
Can not work with steam - Steam just crashes as soon as it sees the Pimax. Tech support says reload steam, reload Pitool, Reload SteamVR. Try this setting and try that setting. But it still does not work.
It is even difficult to turn on! Sometime it conects straight away and other times not at all. Sometimes you get a green light (all good), sometime a purple light (reprojection is on) and sometime an orange light (no idea). There is no way to control this behaviour.
The Pimax was not designed to be used with steam. In fact I would say that the product is not complete and still being tested. And you can be a beta tester for only $2000.
A serious waste of time and money and I would be happy to get rid of mine for 75% of what it cost me.
Sad to say that it is just not ready for the average VR ready computer competent consumer.
11 min in....without that fixed for me, its a deal breaker..a customer shouldn't have to hack a device in order for it to function correctly

How is resolution and sharpness on the Artisan compared to an OG Vive if you ever had one (or I suppose an old Oculus CV1 if you'd ever had one of those)?

As someone new to the vr space I’m interpreting some of the feedback that “this product isn’t aimed at me” but more so experienced vr folks.
For roughly $2k I’m thinking “no compromises” and I’m not certain we’re there yet with Pimax.
The " compromises " are with the build quality and customer support. The " pimax 8 kx " in small - medium mode doesn't have the old warping or distortion. So there actually no compromise in visuals especially at the new 90 Hz native 4k per eye. Theres also a 120 Hz mode now with fixed foveated rendering ..
If you are new to the VR space, this is not for you.
Even though they've made some improvements, there's still too many things not working well, and it doesn't inspire confidence for their supposedly upcoming next gen headset, the 12k. If they're still working out bugs on this one, what will next gen one be like, and how many bugs that will have and how long that will take to fix? Too many big ambitious promises, but it's all sounding a bit iffy to me tbh. Their big reveal of it last year looks like pure sales pitch and maybe a bit desperate to get attention? I don't know....
I personally won't get excited for it anymore, and not wait for it. I'd rather get the Aero. They just need to sort the motion reprojection on that one, not the shopping list of problems I predict the 12k will have. Just my 2c, I hope I'm wrong but not confident or trusting this company anymore with my hard earned cash.
Ya, I completely agree. I'm very excited for the 12k and really hope it actually materializes this year but since the reveal we've heard nothing. They even missed CES completely even though they said they were going to show a prototype then. Covid aside, they should've been able to show it to someone by now you'd think if all was going well. So I decided to go ahead and order the Aero since I can get it now and if the Pimax shows up, then I'll probably grab that too but not expecting it now until at least next year sometime...
@@justaguydoinstuff agreed, and even if it does materialize next year, it will be a buggy, work in progress that they will try to improve for years (just like their other headsets), and probably after that one they announce another headset in classic Pimax style! Too many products, and not one that works that great yet. Best not to wait.
I agree, but on the other hand, the mere act of announce those tech goals forces them and, most of all, the other companies, to try to reach them. I at least give them value and credit for that: huge aspirations and challenges makes VR will get the point we all want. 12k is a dream made true for all of us, and yes, it's a dream on paper that won't reach for sure all the announced features, but it needs to be on paper, otherwise the general tech progression would be slower, giving us the same optics, tracking, resolutions that market would demand.

Why doesnt AMD work on this specific headset?
My understanding is that the hardware revised 8KX uses different internal chips sourced from an alternate provider due entirely to the global chip shortage and this substitute chip hasn't been able to be programmed for AMD compatibility.
I'm not sure if it's something they can fix in software, or in hardware only for future headsets.

I have a Pimax 5k plus and a Pimax 5k super. And I have tried many other VR headsets such as meta rift, rift s, meta go, quest, quest 2 and different HTC headsets vive, vive pro, cosmos, cosmos elite with experience with the Lenovo explorer aka windows mixed reality and playstation VR. And after all that the Pimax's are easily the best VR headsets I have tried. That being said I can't recommend them to almost everyone.
Which one is better, the 5k+ or the 5k super? I like flight simulator games, I have no idea which one would be better, thanks

I'd be interested in getting this... except I decided to buy a Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU instead of Nvidia. Power-wise it's up there with the RTX 3080 but for some reason Pimax doesn't support it. Oh well, I guess they lost a sale. It's frankly completely amateurish/stupid of Pimax to not support anything but Nvidia properly - and of course, in addition to Radeon now, Intel is about to launch cards that also play in the high performance bracket, so then it will be two manufacturers out of three that aren't supported. Pretty unacceptable, in my opinion. But of course, I'm annoyed since I'm on Radeon, so I'm not objective.

I have one. This headset has a massive flaw. On the smallest physical IPD setting, the distance between the sweet spot of the lenses is 70mm. So if you have an ipd smaller than that, the image is going to be blurry. I have an ipd of 64 and it looks awful. So im having to sell my 8kx.
I can't wait for 10 years from now, when this is available in a smaller form factor. I know it's probably amazing, but the size... We will be laughing hard definitely in 20 years from now of these nascent days (and amazing still) of VR.

Headsets like this that require a PC to do all the processing are no use to me.
I have Apple desktop computers.
Probably you will like the Apple VR headset that will come out then.
I have dozens of Mac computers too, yet I'll always have a PC for the best VR and gaming experience (though, I only play once every few months). PC currently provides the best experience.
VR is dead [until PSVR2 comes out] im sitting here with quest 2 and HP G2 V2 and not playing games since there are ZERO AAA, all VR games are Indie trash with cheap production values and Aliexpress Quality, all AAA studio abandoned VR, Ubisoft, Bethesda, EA, they dont make VR games no more and Bethesda had TONS early on, Valve had one Alyx and thats it.
The only good VR games are on PS, but PSVR was trash and I had 2 of them fiorst gen and then second gen and mixed iwth PS4Pro and I played maybe HALF of a game, controllers are horrible and quality is trash, i pray that PSVR2 has everything I want but knowing me, i wont like the resolution, for me playing on PC, i only do 4K/120hz with VRR, anything below is unacceptable.
