I always thought Metroman choosing to pursue music was a great choice (besides the jokes that come w it), playing musical instruments would be the one thing that he’d actually have to practice to get better at, something he’s not immediately good with
When I was in elementary my principal loved Megamind so when our school won the award for high test grades, he dressed up as Megamind and painted himself blue and rode into the assembly on his unicycle. What a king honestly.

I always liked how Metro Man matured as he got older. He was spoiled and had an ego but he was never a genuinely bad guy. He was as much a product of his environment as Megamind was and they both grew by the end.
A little late, but to add on... you can visibly see the effects of trauma on Megamind. He matured much much later than Metroman, because he became dependent on him. And I feel Metroman knew that. Megamind had no time to look in and become himself with Metroman around, because he used Metroman to feel happy and was usually in prison or inventing stuff. Metroman was so powerful he didn't train or study. Just used time to reflect. So when Metroman got bored, he was like an older sibling stopping the destructive fun of their younger sibling. By disappearing. This severed the reliance and codependency brought up by Megamind's unhealthy childhood, and now Megamind was on his own and had to mature finally.

Megamind is, without a doubt, one of the best movies in the genre that I've ever seen and I honestly don't think anything will ever top it. Honestly, Megaminds childhood was so sad. He was trying to be good and was judged despite his good intentions. No one tried to help him with his inventions to finally help people as he originally wanted. Also, Megamind clearly looks way more different than Metroman. Metroman has the luxury of not being judged based on his looks, while Megamind literally looks like a blueberry humanoid alien. He was shunned for no good reason as a child and it resonated with me so much.
I actually appreciate how Metroman doesn't go back to saving the day. Usually in that situation the old hero is hard to convince and comes to fight at the last minute. Yeah it is a little bit selfish but at the same time it's a refreshing take on the trope.

Two subtle things about the movie I love is that 1. Real Bernard has brown eyes while Megamind Bernard still has Megamminds green eyes and 2. Roxanne mostly wears red in the beginning of the movie, then purple in the middle, and finally blue at the end just shows whos shes more closer to in the movie red being metroman then purple for both then blue for Megamind
The amount of "Mega Man" in this video is too damn high. And the genuinely funny part is that you refer to Metro Man AND Megamind as Mega Man lmao. I love it
Hits like a truck cause he was molding out to be the hero he doesn't want for Roxanne even thought he's the tyrant mayor he starts fixing shit that's IRL politician can't even fix garbage duty. My head cannon is the reason why Metroman is always free to roam around with his ego, before duking it out with megamind off screen is just fixing crime rates cause he just wants to **be the one only true villain bad guy** even the whole film there's only prisoners cause megamind and Metroman hasn't entered and fight off yet... megamind ironically became metrocity hero by fixing small things and reducing criminal to just him and Metroman, that's why the police where **SO INCOMPETENT** cause they never experienced situations with baddies roaming the city before because of megamind just wanting to be the city's only true villain clean it's dirt
I’m so glad Megamind is now getting the recognition it deserved, absolutely adored this movie growing up, so much so I did a video essay for school on it lol
Bionic Pig fun fact there is a single frame during when mega mind and metro man are on the big screens during the parade you can see metro man appear behind mega mind showing his super speed montage that is shown later in the movie where he contemplates why he’s doing everything it’s such a crazy detail and very easily missed. Edit: another detail is as Roxan slowly becomes closer to mega mind personally her dress slowly changes colour from red to purple to blue at the end.
That sounds like a horror movie Imagine a dude with super strength moving so fast that he could snap your neck and go back across where he was without anyone seeing what happened.
weird thing about the thing megaminds father says as in the commercial he actually finishes his sentence say he is destined for greatness which makes me wonder if they decided to change it later on
16:33 something I thought was a nice touch that’s not really outright stated. Metro man might be enamored with music because it’s not something he instantly could do. And it’s something he could Learn to be good at.
That’s a really good point! Beyond the joke of this God-like man being unable to play music, that very well could be WHY he wants to do it. Everything has always been handed to Metroman or comes supremely easy because of his superpowers. I imagine you would get tired of that after a time and want something to work to achieve. I think Metroman absolutely was feeling the same lack of purpose, of being pigeonholed, as Megamind was.
They were so clever in the making of this film. The Directors Cut points out that in the scene where Metroman is “trapped” in the observatory, you can see him clip out and back in when he later said that he left to reflect on his life.
Me and my brother have been quoting the scene where metroman got captured in the dome and he and Megamind argued for like a minute straight. One of the funniest scenes in the movie
Megamind is one of my favorite movies. It manages to be an entertaining, funny animated family film while also tackling some really BIG social issues: positive and negative socialization, classism, sexual harassment, stereotyping, relationship stigmas, and, to an extent, even racism. (Megamind is treated differently from a young age and assumed to be naturally bad because of his physical appearance.) Maintaining that balance is hard enough, but on top of that everything in this movie--the acting, dialogue, animation, soundtrack, and attention to detail--are all phenomenal. Why, amid the huge popularity of superhero films, has DreamWorks STILL not giving this gem a sequel?!
I was literally just talking about megamind with one of my friends last night, my favorite part of metro man’s dynamic with megamind is is just metro man’s older brother type connection with megamind, it’s so sweet and I love it so much
I've always said that the greatest crossover of our time was never Avengers. It was the crossover we never got. Megamind and Monster vs Aliens. I'd kill to see that.
When I first watched this movie 10 years ago, I wanted to have a Forget-Me-Stick to use on others. The older I become, the more I want to use it on myself.
Pig in his ad be like: "I DO have a wife, and I DO sleep besides her, thats right, on the same bed. Because we married, and shes my wife." Anyways, I love Megamind
12:18 "Hal is basically if you gave an angry incel superpowers, imagine how dangerous that would be. OH HEY LOOK A DONKEY KONG REFERENCE." I almost did a spit take 😆
I love this movie, especially this scene 10:34 where he has yellow roses and that specific colors of roses symbolizes 'Friendship, apology, intense emotion, a broken heart, etc' I just love the tiny details in this movie 💛 I glad you talked about this movie and Rango
Here's my day so far; went to jail, lost the girl of my dreams, and got my butt kicked pretty good. Still, things could be a lot worse. Oh, that's right... I'm falling to my death. Guess they can't. How did it all come to this you ask? My end starts at the beginning, the very beginning! Yes, that's me. I had a fairly standard childhood. I came from what you might call a broken home, literally broken. I was eight days old and still living with my parents. How sad is that?! Clearly it was time to move on.
Fun Fact : Megamind didn't come from a race of villains, he just came from a grossly intelligent species that I theorize was using a Dyson sphere to harness the full energy of their star and ended up collapsing it into itself by pulling energy from the core through to the surface, causing a pressure difference that would immediately supernovae and collapse into a singularity But hey, that's just a theory, a mind theory, thanks for listening Love me
@@not.alexanderr actually the theory was just WHY the black hole was there, half the point of the movie is that he WASN'T supposed to be a villian, check yourself
@@memyselfandi7782 I mean they're obviously hyper intelligent compared to humans and we already have plans for a Dyson sphere for our sun so why wouldn't they y'know? Thx for liking it though ^^ wasn't sure how many people would get it
I like to think Mega Mind as the wreck it Ralph of dreams work and it really nails the concept of we may play roles, but nothing stop us from breaking the shackles and climbing out of the rut and doing what we truly want to do
If a sexual deviant had Superman’s powers that would be horrifying, especially if they had no self control. I’ll just let you think about the implications yourself.
I didn't actually watch this movie until 2016, and I am so glad I was a bit older upon my first viewing. I feel like as a teenager, I wouldn't have been able to fully appreciate the morals, lessons, and ideas presented, and I definitely wouldn't have enjoyed it to the... hm... MASSIVE EXTENT that I currently do. (I am a bit disappointed that I missed my chance to catch it on the big screen tho.) Megamind will forever hold a very special place in my heart, and again, I must thank you profusely for this review. ❤️
16:03 I actually saw a trailer for this movie in the theaters where they said that Metroman didn’t die but retired so the twist that he wasn’t already dead was already spoiled for me.
btw, in the start of a movie where Metroman is about to "die", in a fraction of a second you can actually see Metroman behind Megamind on the screen he is on. kind of a neat little touch
What interested me most in this video was at 9:00, God was written as 'god' with no capital G, but peasant was written as 'Peasant' with a capital P. I believe it shows more emphasis and status, basically means a peasant is higher than God, but who knows, could be a typo or autocorrect. Anywaye, great video Bionic!
I think the movie could be described in these two sentences: "What is better? To be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" and "I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant, it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are"
i honestly think metroman's decision to bail when tons of peoples' lives were at stake IS the villainous thing for him to do; it just makes him a human villain rather than a god-like one
i mean you can also consider the fact that he never had a choice to be a hero and only did it for the fame, but he found out that he has other passions, so the sides kind of conflict on whether or not what he did was wrong
I disagree that it makes him a human villain, it just makes him human. What he did really was selfish but it was still for the sake of his mental health, and during the thought process, I think he knew that Megamind was kind-hearted enough to go through his same thought process of finding himself and giving him a chance to redeem himself, which, was correct. They did grow up together so I feel like Metroman _knew_ that Megamind wasn't a terrible person.
@@durratulaishah3703 You'd have to acknowledge that Megamind himself wants to pose as a villain, so even if he wanted to tell the audience that Megamind wasn't truly a villain, Megamind himself would make fun of him and the audience wouldn't believe him one bit, because even though nothing malicious really happened, he still did some pretty bad things. I'm not sure if it really was ego, but because of the thought process, I think he's sensible enough to know boundaries for his ego
I’m 27 and saw this movie for the first time about a year ago. Knew absolutely nothing about it and didn’t know any of the plot twists. Was absolutely delightful to watch a movie like this and thoroughly enjoy it
Mega mind pointed out the flawed system before anyone did. Also the fact that the prison guards didn’t give the baby to an orphanage or something shows that they weren’t all that great to start out with anyway
So... yes, the whole Despicable Me and minions thing was a big reason it was discontinued (god damn facebook moms and their minion_meme.png), but people don't seem to realize that Megamind was 1 of 3 movies in Dreamworks' attempt to create a series of satirical movies and that the overall failure/underperformance of that series was what killed it. The other 2 movies were 1) Monsters vs Aliens, a satire of old monster movies (something along the lines of Marvel's Howling Commandoes, sorta) which underperformed and got a decent-ish nickelodeon series and number 2)... Shark Tale, a mafia movie satire... mhm but yeah Dreamworks thought it more prudent to simply drop the idea of satire movies after a flop, a let-down, and something that had a competitor too big to handle
Megamind was such a great film. I always got the impression that it wasn't so much he was forced into villainy as it was he found a niche that got him attention and couldn't really function outside of it which accidently forced metroman into a similar situation. I never assumed it was purely ego for metroman. I don't even really think he wanted to be a superhero. He already had everything he'd ever need or want; he was rich, handsome by human standards and popular even without anyone to protect people from. Megaminds attempt to find his place in society forced him into a defacto hero role when he seemed like a super chill surfer dude who would have been happy enough doing anything else and didn't even really want to hurt megamind. Even Roxanne. It's clear that megamind just didn't have the frame of reference to talk to her and try to get to know her outside of being a villian, so he kidnapped her for metroman to save her (because as she claimed she didn't even really like metroman in any romantic way he was probably too cocky for her) once megamind was actually talking to her they got along really well. Who's to say if he hadn't just tried to speak to her normally they wouldn't have hit it off even without any theatrics? Same with metroman actually; they could have been good friends since even through they look totally different they've got a lot in common, they're both not human and never knew their real parents, they're both very capable of doing great things (metroman with his strength and speed and megamind with his super intelligence), plus it's clear metroman never really had any ill will towards him by the pep talk he gave him and the fact he was always willing to play along and hold back in a fight. and the fact that while his mom seemed to love him his adopted dad didn't seem to care so they've probably both got bad father figures
I remember watching this in theaters as a kid and although I really enjoyed it, it was one of the movies that I enjoyed even more as I got older because I started to get a lot of the stuff that just goes over kids’ heads

I'm too young to drink, so I used water instead.
I'm hydrated.
Roxanne: Do you really think that I would ever be with you?
MM: .........no :/
To this day that scene still hits so hard.
The scene where Megamind is infront of the museum as it blows up still to this day remains as Comedy gold in my eyes
lol
"OOOHHH I'M WAY TOO CLOSE! I'M GENUINELY SCARED RIGHT NOW!" gotta love this comedic big-brained little shit.
I love looking out for the little blur in the screen everytime we rewatch the movie, it's so fun
ive watched this movie every year since it came out and i never knew this
Wish which scene is it in? Is it the parade or the contemplation montage
@@mortonmckoy1787 it's when megamind tells minion to fire the weapon you can see that his screen "glitched" during it
That sounds like a horror movie
Imagine a dude with super strength moving so fast that he could snap your neck and go back across where he was without anyone seeing what happened.
"Oh you're a villain alright, just not a super one"
Love that fuckin line
This movie was a goddamn masterpiece.
It's *A HEAD* of it's time.
17:34 "and there is no England"
weird thing about the thing megaminds father says as in the commercial he actually finishes his sentence say he is destined for greatness which makes me wonder if they decided to change it later on
Probably
My guess is that it was for marketing. They probably wanted the full line otherwise it wouldn't seem as appealing without context.
Megamind saying Ollo at the end while taking away Titan’s powers was incredibly badass
I think Metroman absolutely was feeling the same lack of purpose, of being pigeonholed, as Megamind was.
thats really cool
That way I could keep MMM! 🤣
Personally, Hal is one of Jonah Hill's best performances.
“There is no Easter bunny, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no Queen of England”
I quote this all the time lol
loool
that aged like a fine milk
not anymore lmao, once again anoher example of the movie being a head of it's time.
Love watching this after the queen died and you commenting on how much this movie was ahead of it's time lmao
This movie was a whole mood.
My friend’s husband helped animate this. It was so great!
So cool, it's one of Dreamworks best ones.
no wonder he's a husband
Megaman and Megamind: Walking up to each other
Megaman and Megamind: Shakes hands for both being blue and legendary
They were so clever in the making of this film. The Directors Cut points out that in the scene where Metroman is “trapped” in the observatory, you can see him clip out and back in when he later said that he left to reflect on his life.
"There is no tooth fairy, there is no Easter bunny, and there is no war in ba sing se"
-Titan
I'm glad to see this movie getting the credit I've always felt it deserved.
Me and my brother have been quoting the scene where metroman got captured in the dome and he and Megamind argued for like a minute straight. One of the funniest scenes in the movie
Megamind is such a masterpiece and I feel like it's gotten even better over the years.
Why, amid the huge popularity of superhero films, has DreamWorks STILL not giving this gem a sequel?!
you may wanna rethink that last line 😢
BionicPIG: 'finally watches megamind'
Me: way to go, little buddy
Because we married, and shes my wife."
Anyways, I love Megamind
wth
Makes me think maybe he has something to hide.
When Tighten said 'there is no queen of England' I felt that
12:18 "Hal is basically if you gave an angry incel superpowers, imagine how dangerous that would be. OH HEY LOOK A DONKEY KONG REFERENCE." I almost did a spit take 😆
Well it is true cuz we elected Trump for two terms
Space dads look is also a superman reference i guess.
Also my favorite quote from this movie: "oh you're a villain alright, just not a super one"
I love the fact the more people are talking about Megamind these days. It didn't get enough love when it was new
I love this movie, especially this scene 10:34 where he has yellow roses and that specific colors of roses symbolizes 'Friendship, apology, intense emotion, a broken heart, etc' I just love the tiny details in this movie 💛 I glad you talked about this movie and Rango
Clearly it was time to move on.
lol
“he doesn't really treat people like triple” is officially the best line
Fun Fact : Megamind didn't come from a race of villains, he just came from a grossly intelligent species that I theorize was using a Dyson sphere to harness the full energy of their star and ended up collapsing it into itself by pulling energy from the core through to the surface, causing a pressure difference that would immediately supernovae and collapse into a singularity
But hey, that's just a theory, a mind theory, thanks for listening
Love me
fun fact: theories arent facts
THATS A GOOD THEORY. I HAD NO IDEA
Thx for liking it though ^^ wasn't sure how many people would get it
Omfg
I like to think Mega Mind as the wreck it Ralph of dreams work and it really nails the concept of we may play roles, but nothing stop us from breaking the shackles and climbing out of the rut and doing what we truly want to do
And that was a couple years before Disney released the first Wreck-It-Ralph. Technically Dreamworks beat Disney to it.
If a sexual deviant had Superman’s powers that would be horrifying, especially if they had no self control. I’ll just let you think about the implications yourself.
just be lucky he was after only 1 woman
At least he respected consent 😌
Thats just Homelander from The Boys.
a man loses his head to sex in The Boys so yea
that,is every isekai hentai ever
16:26 scared the shit out of me jesus christ
I didn't actually watch this movie until 2016, and I am so glad I was a bit older upon my first viewing. I feel like as a teenager, I wouldn't have been able to fully appreciate the morals, lessons, and ideas presented, and I definitely wouldn't have enjoyed it to the... hm... MASSIVE EXTENT that I currently do. (I am a bit disappointed that I missed my chance to catch it on the big screen tho.)
Megamind will forever hold a very special place in my heart, and again, I must thank you profusely for this review.
Megamind. Truly a masterpiece that belongs in a high class museum
I just love how the ending shows that metroman always looked at megamind as a friend/friendly rival not just an out right enemy
He did it people! He witnessed something holy!!
I'm actually a prophet of this movie, I showed literally all of my friends Megamind lmao
Megamind evangelist
have you herd about our lord and saver megamind?@DraconasTenZHG
Megamind Is one of the best animated movies tbh
Megamind is one of my all time favorite movies that I cherish with all my heart that I recommend everyone to watch this masterpiece of a movie.
I think the movie could be described in these two sentences:
"What is better? To be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" and
"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant, it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are"
"Hello everyone my name marikiplier" lol love that
I love how Titan is actually Tighten. That is the best joke in this movie 😂
i honestly think metroman's decision to bail when tons of peoples' lives were at stake IS the villainous thing for him to do; it just makes him a human villain rather than a god-like one
i mean you can also consider the fact that he never had a choice to be a hero and only did it for the fame, but he found out that he has other passions, so the sides kind of conflict on whether or not what he did was wrong
@@Пинагод
but he got caught up by his own ego to fully admit Megamind is not terrible person. (well, back when he was still a superhero)
@@Пинагод you do have a point tho
I’m 27 and saw this movie for the first time about a year ago. Knew absolutely nothing about it and didn’t know any of the plot twists. Was absolutely delightful to watch a movie like this and thoroughly enjoy it
There he go’s he’s going to stab someone WITH HIS NEW NINJA KNIFE “Sponsor starts playing”
Mega mind pointed out the flawed system before anyone did. Also the fact that the prison guards didn’t give the baby to an orphanage or something shows that they weren’t all that great to start out with anyway
Watching this movie in theaters is a core memory for me. It was just me and my fam. Nobody else. We had a private viewing for megamind. Wow.
I just like how he calls megamind megaman throughout the video
This movie is so good that you can take screenshots of any frame and turn it into a meme
I’m glad I’m not the only one who still accidentally calls him mega man
Megamind is my favorite DreamWorks movie of all time, and I think it's really underrated.
Then spider blown in his face followed by the smack is to this day one of the funniest scenes in an animation movie to me 9:04
I can't tell if he's calling him MegaMan as a joke or by mistake lmao
Not only is it a banger of a movie but the memes that came from it were absolutely amazing as well!
Fun fact: In the Trailer, you actually hear what the parents say, they said “You’re Detent for Greatness”.
So, they did want him to be evil, at least in a way.
7:03 the jimmy council shall decide your fate
Drinking game: one shot for everytime he says megaman instead of mega mind
He also says it instead of metroman a few times.
So... any times he says megaman?
So... yes, the whole Despicable Me and minions thing was a big reason it was discontinued (god damn facebook moms and their minion_meme.png), but people don't seem to realize that Megamind was 1 of 3 movies in Dreamworks' attempt to create a series of satirical movies and that the overall failure/underperformance of that series was what killed it.
The other 2 movies were
1) Monsters vs Aliens, a satire of old monster movies (something along the lines of Marvel's Howling Commandoes, sorta) which underperformed and got a decent-ish nickelodeon series
and number 2)...
Shark Tale, a mafia movie satire... mhm
but yeah Dreamworks thought it more prudent to simply drop the idea of satire movies after a flop, a let-down, and something that had a competitor too big to handle
17:38 What did Ireland do to deserve this? Or Scotland and Wales for that matter
I remember watching this in theaters as a kid and although I really enjoyed it, it was one of the movies that I enjoyed even more as I got older because I started to get a lot of the stuff that just goes over kids’ heads
