"no one sings like you anymore" R.I.P. Chris Cornell one of the very best vocalist ever. I recommend Cochise from Audioslave Chris's other equally talented band.
And I would recommend The Winery Dogs song Elevate. Don’t know the singers name? But eerily sounds just like Mr. Cornell. The other 2 guys are Mike Portnoy Drummer from Dream Theater and Billy Sheehan Bassist from Mr. Big. Great song nonetheless!
@@ernestrobles2995 no comparison.
Hell Yeah!!! COCHISE!!
I can’t stop watching Seven Hunnid on UA-cam 😭😭
The "no one sings like you anymore" is about a woman who is singing in her house that he overheard. She doesn't want to be a performer, but she was a really good singer. She would HAVE to be in order to get a nod like this from Chris. Tidbit fact for ya!
I've always thought the meaning of the video and song was that under the glossy, smiley surface of society there's something sick and distorted, and they wished something would come to wash it all away. That's pretty much how I felt about society at the time -- the decay and sickness underlaying the toothpaste smiles of ads and sitcoms felt so evident, and the video captured the feeling for me rather well.
Think you nailed it.
Yeah, in my view they are referring to how materialistic and superficial society has become. To wash that all away would make people more grounded, honest, and real.
It has more of that meaning today. Our society is in decline and rotting from the inside.
Either that or getting obliterated and feeling lifted up and out of all the dirty hypocritical mess of suburbia ...
you are sooo smart and grounded.
Soundgarden and just anything Chris Cornell does is incredible.
I got to see Chris play with Soundgarden at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta on May 3, 2017. I think he passed just 2 weeks after we saw him.
I saw him with Soundgarden right around that same time in Charlotte NC, one of his last shows, was just stunned when I got the news.... so sad.
Thank God he left us with SO MUCH
I saw them when they played Underground Atlanta 1996. Awesome show!
My favourite singer.
My favourite band.
My favourite song.
I miss you Chris..🙏
This single song turned me from a techno kid in around 94 into a rock fan like the flip of a switch...
This is in my soul .....
How about some Audioslave “Like A Stone” the band included the late Chris Cornell lead singer of Soundgarden and Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine.
Like a Stone is one of my favorite songs ever!
Audioslave never did it for me like Soundgarden did. And I'm a huge Rage fan as well.
Love to see them do Audioslave.
And while they're at it, try Velvet Revolver's Slither. The band that featured Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots and Slash, Matt, and Duff from Guns 'N; Roses
Like a stone is such a great song!!!! I love I am the highway too.
@@LiberalsArePoop same, but Like a Stone is the exception. Esp CC's solo take
Since you love Chris Cornell’s voice I recommend Temple of the Dog “Say Hello to Heaven “. You’ll be blown away 🔥🔥. There’s no official video so just the lyric version. Very powerful meaningful song
Please react to this! 1000% worth it I promise :)
Absolutely!!
There's a live video version in black and white
@The Dan I agree. The live version just isn't the same. At least not for an initial viewing
I LOVE Chris Cornell but the live version isn’t very good. The album version is absolutely a masterpiece
My dad grew up in the 70s but also liked 90's alt rock and Sound Garden as one of his favorites; he'd play this music while my brother and I did chores which was the coolest thing a Dad could do with kids in the single digits.
YES.....Song: 30 DAYS IN THE⬇️ WHOLE👏👍
Band: Humble Pie
This video always creeps me out. Great song. And yes this would be 90's Grunge. Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana are the main 4 of the Seattle Grunge movement.
Stone Temple Pilots as well.
Videos became very pretentious and unwatchable in the nineties. It was too bad because often the bands had no creative control of them. Right before MTV stopped being fun and then stopped being a music channel.
For more Cornell, I would suggest "Spoonman" or "The Day I Tried to Live" by Soundgarden, or "Cochise" by Audioslave. Plus, "No One Knows" by Queens of the Stone Age, with Dave Grohl killing it on drums, has to be heard!
"Queens of the stone age" or "Them crooked vultures" both great David Grohl sit-ins..
Love Spoonman!
Yes, The Day I Tried to Live: excellent scream singing. Screaming but always on key. Very powerful.
Definitely Spoonman.
Spoon man is about a guy who played the spoons and panhandled for change in downtown Seattle. He was well known to locals, especially street kids and grunge crowd.
Excellent band.
Please try “Fell on Black Days”
Soundgarden is great!!! Been a fan since Outshined made its debut on MTV’s Headbangers Ball in 1992. (Album was released at the end of 91)
Awesome song. RIP Chris Cornell
Alice In Chains lead singer was Layne Staley.
With the exception of Eddie Vedder, all of the lead singers from the early 90's heavy hitters are dead: Kurt, Chris, Layne, and Scott Weiland.
Billy Corgan is still alive too
Cornell is absolutely a 90s icon, who stayed relevant, even great, until the day he lost his battle and had to leave. There will never be another like him.
If you haven't done it yet, "Spoonman."
Grunge had some of the best vocalists.
So true! Amazing voices.
Spoon man is a must
@@bowhuntr6825 It really is.
Have to do it with the official video. The guy playing the spoons gets me every time, so much energy. My favourite period in music was grunge
+1 …100%
The Breeders "Cannonball"
Letters To Cleo "Here And Now"
Sugarcubes "Hit"
OMC "How Bizarre"
Just add these song to that list and you got a rocker.
The Toadies - Possum King
The Flys - Got You Where I Want You
Harvey Danger - Flag Pole Sitta
The 90’s!
"No one sings like you anymore" R.I.P. Andy and Chris 😥
Can't believe "Burden In My Hand" and "Bleed Together" aren't up near the top of everyone's lists. Both are perfect showcases for Chris's extraordinary vocals as well as his oddball chord changes.
Two realllly underrated Soundgarden songs. Great call.
Burden in my hand - favorite Soundgarden song along with Black Hole Sun
Chris Cornell never wears all his flash at the same time. He always leaves us wanting more. Good journey brother.
R.I.P. Chris Cornell, really missed by me, just finished watching a reaction for Burden in my Hand, and I've been singing it for the last hour lol.Love this song and the trippy video
AN all-time classic. Now you gotta check out Fell On Black Days (a Chris Cornell masterclass) and Burden In My Hand.
Also, Soundgarden was one of the many "Grunge" bands to come out of Seattle in the 90s that started with Nirvana and included Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, The Melvins, Temple of the Dog. They wore alot of flannel shirts which started a fad with grunge fans, but when asked about the fashion, I can't remember who replied, but one of the band members explained that it rains a lot in Seattle, that's why they always wore the flannel shirts. It had nothing to do with any kind of fashion statement.
Mama did her job and made somebody smile today: me! 😀
Thank you so much for picking this song and for having so much fun reacting to it, it was a pleasure to watch it with you both.
*"Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction is a must see!*
Nothing like it or to do with it.
I recommend No Rain by Blind Melon. His voice was amaZING AS WELL
yes! they absolutely need to listen to that
The actual video (bumblebee girl)
Shannon Hoon was an amazing singer. I recommend the Blin Mellon (his band) album "Soup". It is one of the 90s most underrated albums. I'm not sure what genre they represented. They where put in the grunge-genre by some journalists at the time, but I don't belive that to be right. More like classic rock whit some folk inspired elements as well.
Chris is my favorite and my favorite performance ever is his solo song ‘When I’m Down’ live at the Troubadour. Goosebumps and chills promised. Vocals and lyrics r amazing!
Absolutely!
AHH! Chris Cornell! 🙏🏻
Layne Staley was the lead singer of AIC
The two of you should give REO Speedwagons "Roll With The Changes" a shot.
A nice AOR classic.
L8
Odd jump from Cornell…but definitely. (FOUR Gary Richrath solos can't do you wrong, lol!)
I absolutely love Chris Cornell! He is in my top three vocalists. Love him whether he is performing solo or with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden or Audioslave. I would recommend you checking out "Cochise" or "Slaves and Bulldozers".
Brother, you both are on to something with Chris Cornell. I was lucky enough to see Audioslave here in Cleveland at Lollapalooza 2003. He's in my top 3 vocalists of all time
So many great Soundgarden songs to chose from....please do "4th of July" next....
Chris Cornell, what a voice! 4 1/2 octave range. His daughter did a decent rendition of Cohen's Hallelujah for his memorial.
Chris Cornell was amazing.
Soundgarden was definitely part of the 90s grunge movement along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Blind Melon, etc.
Check out Spoon Man. Its a faster song that I think you'd love.
Also, check out his cover of Nothing Compares 2 U. AMAZING.
Chris Cornell was in another band called Audioslave. Check out "Like A Stone" or "I Am The Highway " by them. Chris was definitely a talented singer.
So many great tunes ✌❤🤘
“My Wave” is a must listen from Soundgarden. “Bird in my hand “ is also good
i have a personal love/hate relationship with this song. it's this song that made me realize i had a substance abuse issue, and shortly after that realization, i went to rehab. i love it because it saved my life, and i hate it because i can't listen to it without all of those emotions of a 19 year old at the end of his rope come welling up again. thank you for reacting to this.
This is 90’s grunge in the Alternative genre. Chris Cornell had an amazing range in his voice. He is so missed. My fave is probably their hardest song- Jesus Christ Pose. Chris really wails in that song and the lead guitarist just shreds. Jordan would love this one!
This songs music video was played to death on MTV when it came out in the mid 1990’s!
I can't believe this song is like 30 yrs. old already....jeez....
December will be 30 years…
My thought also- geeeeez I’m feeling a bit old…
@@Wrangzilla Wow....
Y’all need to listen to No Rain by Blind Melon.
Awesome band, I'm very lucky I got to see them a short time before the ferry l very sad loss of Chris Cornell. So many good songs, my favourite is one called Spoonman.
Junky! Jk.
This is the Seattle grunge era that exploded in the 90''s. Everyone loved it! Lots of great bands! The big hair bands got the boots! It happened overnight. The band Nirvana started it!!!
The boot!!!!!
nirvana was towards the end of it.. Queensryche started it in82, followed by Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Dream Theatre, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Candlebox, Foo Fighters, Mudvayne
Mother Love Bone started it.
@@MaxPower-nw8id wrong.. MLB formed in 88.. Queensryche released their first album in 82, then Dream Theatre in 85, Ryches 3rd album “Rage for Order” went big in 86, then Alice in Chains in 87.. then MLB in 88 then Pearl Jam and Nirvana
Soundgarden was the first Grunge group to be signed to a major label
This song is awesome. If you like Soundgarden, next reaction should be "Blow out the outside world". But also, i send these suggestions of great 80s and 90s bands i think you have not reacted yet: Depeche mode, U2, INXS, The Cranberries, Hole, and Garbage
They mentioned that they reacted to The Cranberries Zombie, but it got blocked. 😔
Anything U2 from Joshua Tree backwards would be great. Success ruined them in my opinion. Their songs lost their sense of urgency once the money started rolling in. The same thing happened to The Alarm, even though they were nowhere near as successful. I think they just followed U2's lead. You can't compare Spirit of '76 to Rain In The Summertime.
@@LiberalsArePoop yes, i want sunday bloody sunday
@@scapito oh no i was waiting for that...
@@LauPulstar that, or Pride, or New Year's Day. Bullet The Blue Sky has always been a real favorite of mine.
If you love his voice, I'd suggest 'Like A Stone' by Audioslave, another great band he sang with. I think it showcases his voice as well as any song does.
Definitely. Fantastic song.
Probably my favorite song that he did!
Love that song, and the video. Ths funny thing is, during the first verse in that video, Chris is sitting there, relaxed with his legs crossed, and belting out huge notes. That guy could hit those notes so easily, I could just see him doing so, posed exactly like that, when most mortals would have to be standing and wringing every little bit out of themselves to try and sound near as well.
Always thought that this song was about depression. The song is awesome. The video is trippy. Should definitely check out the lyrics.
Awesome reaction! First song I ever heard from Soundgarden came from their debut album (Louder Than Love). I highly recommend the track HANDS ALL OVER from that album. It made me a lifelong fan :)
Amber, a voice from the past. You two are soooo fun to watch for reaction videos.
I wish you two would do more 90's music. I'd love to hear you do "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins or "Comedown" by Bush.
Wow, 1979. Haven’t heard that in years.
Amber I think you'd get a new appreciation for this song from Norah Jones's beautiful cover...just her and her piano
Yes!!
Yes, I love Norah Jones.
My all time favorite song
Fell on black days saved my life. Thanks Chris
when i talk with others about music and musicians, i always say that Chris Cornell had the most amazing male voice in rock music history...
I definitely agree. Cornell, alongside Cobain and Dave Grohl.
@@NBP123 Cobain was great, but I wouldnt put him anywhere near Chris Cornell's level.
This is definitely a dark one ... but it's genius. And a good one to listen to on really good headphones.
ETA: I saw Soundgarden twice in concert, and Chris Cornell once, and and _that voice_ and _that sound_ is just as good live!
I'm 65 and this is one of my favourite songs. Whatever that is worth.
One of my favorite songs of all time. In the 80s and 90s, a ton of music videos were wild. Sometimes, you needed to listen to the music separately from the videos, then watch the videos for their creativity.
Well I’m not sure why you both haven’t reacted to Chris Cornells unplugged cover of “Nothing Compares 2U” (you reacted to Snead oconner singing it I’m pretty sure) But you will really fall in love with Chris after that one…. Guaranteed!
Have you heard him singing "One", by Metallica over him playing "One", by U2?
I think that was the Bing lounge
@@RayfordRaySiegel That was genius! I cry every time I listen to it since his death, though. It hits differently.
Jay would really appreciate 30 Days In the Hole by a band called Humble Pie
Oh Yeah!
@@BoomerMcBoomSteve Marriott. The greatest voice in rock.
I love that song but I think it's an Amber song ( hippie vibes but a little harder).
e
Yes indeed I think Humble Pie has a lot to offer. Please check out 30 days in the hole
Looking great Amber🌺🌺🌺
Love this song. More Pearl Jam, too please!!
“Fell On Black Days”, “Burden In My Hand”, “Outshined”, “Rusty Cage” are all far superior to this track, IMO. This track was SO overhyped and over played back in the day that I believe it painted Soundgarden as more mellow than they really were. I also got to see them at Lollapalooza back in 1992 and they were killer live!
If you like sound garden, you will def like audio slave. Chris rocks.
Agreed. Tell Me How to Live would be right up their alley and Rob would find the lyrics absorbing.
i’m binging your videos im OBSESSED with your vibes. you are bringing my childhood back thank u
I was wondering if you'd get here... Awesome one guys.
There have been many stellar voices in music history. Chris Cornell was one of them. Few deaths hit me harder than his (including Kurt Cobain). He had so many incredible vocal performances it's tough to narrow it down, but "Burden in My Hand" is a must-listen. I also highly recommend songs he did with his other group, Audioslave - "Like a Stone", "I Am the Highway", and "Show Me How to Live".
Like a stone and I am the highway are just amaaaazing. Love them both! I'm not familiar with the other song you mentioned. Looking it up!
The acoustic version is stunning, with just Chris and a guitar. His voice just resonates, unbelievable to hear.
I'm so excited you're doing this one! Soundgarden was such a massive part of the 90s sound.
I was working in a remote northern town. They had an arcade in the mall (that was also the hotel, the bar, the RCMP station, the curling rink and arena, public library and grocery store), and that arcade had a pool table and a juke box. There were only two rock songs on the juke box. This was one of them. We poured a pocketful of quarters into it and selected it to play like, 30 times in a row. We stopped shooting pool for a while and went for dinner at the restaurant (also part of the mall building). When we came back, the juke box was unplugged. We plugged it back in and Black Hole Sunned for another hour.i
Isn't this an unusual and great song? The title is so interesting it is impossible to stay away from. I think you nailed it early one, Amber, saying it is like a dream. "No one sings like you" - it may be about Kurt Cobain's death.
No probably Andy Woods death
No, the album was recorded in '93 and released in March '94, a month before Kurt Cobain's death.
This song was a mind blowing breath of fresh air. The album was already released in March, but the single dropped about a month after Kurt's passing. Not about Kurt, but it was a great spiritual lift in the aftermath of his untimely death. Thanks Chris & Kurt for all the great music RIP
Ya’ll need to do Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May”, “Stay With Me , or, “ I’m Losing You” if you like raspy rock vocals. Rod was a hard rocker in his early days and had some great pop songs later in his career. Check it out.
Soundgarden....just brilliant on all levels.
7:03 I I’ve never thought of it that way but I really like that thought 💯💯
1994....great sound.
I bet you guys would love Chris Cornell's "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart".
The lyric video is the best version.
Yes!i love that song❤️
This one of if not my favourite Soundgarden song. I used to have this on a spring driving playlist 😂. Chris Cornell’s voice is like no others.
Soundgarden was one of the first grunge bands 89 to early 90's. This was one of my favourite songs
Chris has such an incredible voice. I'd highly recommend anything by Soundgarden, Audioslave, or his solo stuff. In particular: Like a Stone and Cochise are great songs by Audioslave. Solo stuff: You Know My Name is a great song that almost never gets reacted to. Also his acoustic covers: everyone will say Nothing Compares to You, which is incredible for sure, but his cover of Billie Jean is next level and you HAVE to check that out. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
First time hearing, but knew of Chris dying and then looked them up. ‘Chris Cornell has stated that "Black Hole Sun" has no real meaning. He was more or less playing around with words as he was writing it’
Sounds like it. He could have done so much more with words if he wanted. Then they would have done his voice justice.
I got to see him in 2016 on a solo tour. Wow, what a concert. Not long before he died in 2017.
He was a singer, songwriter, and musician, best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. He also had a solo career and contributed to soundtracks.
He is considered one of the key figures of the 1990s grunge movement, and is well known for his nearly four-octave vocal range, and his powerful vocal belting. He won 3 Grammy Awards. He was voted "Rock's Greatest Singer" by readers of , and ranked, No. 9 of "Best Lead Singers of All Time" by , and No. 12 on MTV's "22 Greatest Voices in Music".
He had some AMAZING covers with that perfect voice of his: Nothing Compares 2 You (Prince Cover), Billie Jean (Michael Jackson Cover), Patience (Guns and Roses Cover), Imagine (John Lennon Cover).
LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
OASIS is another band worth listening to. Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova. Live forever. Just a few suggestions. 90's alternative.
Another band is Collective Soul. Songs: Shine, December.
Love watching you guys' reactions.
Was curious if you had seen or would react to Oversimplified? Not music but educational. If history had been taught this way in school I would have paid more attention. lol Check them out! I think you will really enjoy it.
I have every album Chris ever sang on, he is always brilliant! You all heard him on Temple of the Dog too, if you remember, the Hunger Strike song. Black Hole Sun was very popular but not my favorite because it was kinda hard to penetrate lyrically. I absolutely love songs like Fell On Black Days or Down on the Upside. His other band Audioslave you should check out too. Such an amazing voice, love him so much!!
A super favourite! Thank you 😊 💓
I agree on her, it feels like a dream especially with the guitar effects and the riff itself plus the lyrics and Chris's voice. Feels like im stoned!
This song always had a 60's vibe to it, almost like it could have been written by John Lennon or someone from that era, purely genius and of course Chris Cornell was an amazing singer
@HardNews TV14 no I just checked it out now, great stuff 👍
This is one of my faves! It's about looking forward to an apocalyptic force to wipe out the fakes and sinners of the world. Love some of the suggestions for other music, Nothing Compares 2U, Say Hello to heaven, all good! Also Patience, Pretty Noose, Billie Jean. All amazing! Also look up Blow Up the Outside. It's hypnotic and cathartic, if you lose yourself in the song you can almost cry for Chris Cornell's thoughts. I did this at my lowest point and it pulled me from making bad decisions.
I have this c D and haven't listened to it in years. Thanks for reminding me I have it. I love this group. And this was one of there most popular songs
I love your guys! It's nice to see that you like my favorite songs so much. I watched a lot of your videos.
You guys should check out some classic Van Halen, “Hot for Teacher“ or “Panama“. Great tunes, great videos.
Unchained...Eruption/Running with the Devil...
I like those songs..the songs I really like are Hear about it later, Dreams, Jump,Right now and some others..love both Roth and Hagar Van Halen 😎🤘
@@laurieamick9293,
Yeah, but the last two are separate songs. "Eruption" stands by itself.
Now that you've heard the original, imagine it flipped to a vintage jazzy version. Check out the Post Modern Jukebox version of "Blackhole Sun" featuring Haley Reinhart on vocals. She will be a revelation to you guys!!!
Such a great cover! Haley and PMJ’s cover of “Creep” is iconic but “Blackhole Sun” was one of my favorite songs and they really did it justice. Their covers of “Seven Nation Army” and their new cover of “Don’t Speak” are must listens as well.
One of the things I absolutely love about going down the rabbit hole of these react videos is that I have heard most of these songs hundreds if not thousands of times (I used to work in alternative rock radio for a long stretch) but it's like I'm experiencing these songs for the first time through you guys. I have heard this song at least 1000 times but watching it with you allowed me to find new things in it or things I forgot about, and I cannot appreciate that enough. Love you two!!
Soundgarden is one of my top 10 bands of all time and probably my favorite of the 90s.
Obligatory "you have to hear Haley Reinhart do a cover of this" comment. Seriously though, she is pure talent.
Post Modern Jukebox!!! Love their work together. Amazing stuff.
you guys should check out one of their earlier songs, "Rusty Cage". Chris' voice is so good on that track
If I'm not mistaken, the legendary Johnny Cash covered both Rusty Cage and Hurt.
@@rwxstudio7173 Hurt was the last song JC ever recorded (1 month before he died), both these covers were recorded on Trent Reznor's NIN label
AND check out Johnny Cash's version of Rusty Cage afterwards.
It's hard to not think that Chris wrote about his impending death quite often. This song, Like a Stone, The Day I Tried to Live, Fell on Black Days, Blow Up the Outside World, Live to Rise, etc etc. Dark, but beautiful. Chris was one of a kind.
90's grunge at its best. Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains. Man, that was some great music.
Chris Cornell had one of the best voices ever. Listen to Billie Jean with just him and a guitar. Fab!
...and Nothing Compares to U.
I’ve heard this song 1,000,000 times. A better song is spoon man!
Either that or “My Wave” is another banger
Chris's voice in this song is just so unbelievably powerful with some real high notes!
My God. A Chris Cornell vocal
never gets old does it. Phenomenal voice.
