this speaks to me on so many levels- RIP Chris Cornell you were an exceptional talent....
Love and miss Chris Cornel
And one of the greatest voices to ever grace rock and roll
The one voice of my youth that I think about all the time. Chris Cornell was my favorite voice as a young adult
As a now 57 year old man, the Seattle Music Scene meant everything to me personally. My peer group of musicians, my genre of music, this was my Musical Camelot. Chris, Layne, Andy, Shannon, Kurt, Mark, the list is too vast to write everyones name here. They were like Dark Angels roaming the planet.... greatly missed by so many, especially this 57 year old man. God Loves Grunge
Beautifully put
amen.
This is handsdown the best Soundgarden song ever in my opinion
Edit: y'all need to chill, I was just trying to state my opinion, you don't to get pissed off at it
But have you heard Jesus Christ pose?
Outshine
Spoonman
This one
But my top one would be
Rusty Cage
That’s what is awesome about them. This isn’t even top 3 from this album to me.
I would go with “room a thousand years wide” but this is also a great choice. This song was playing as my grandmother died… I was 22. Damn how a song can make you feel it again.
But I wanna put my hands in the air like I just don't care 😭😅🤣
You guys definitely need to check out some more Soundgarden! I'd recommend The Day I Tried To Live from them next.
J would love that one, since he loves Bass guitar. That Bass line is sick.
The Day I Tried To Live is epic. That, This, and Black Hole Sun have been my top 3 from this album since 6th grade. Hasn't changed.
The Day I Tried To Live is my fave Soundgarden song.
That and Limo Wreck are my two favorite songs by them,
Burden in My Hand or Blow Up the Outside World and of course Outshined!!
Zero Chance, Mailman, My Wave, Limo Wreck, Outshined, Room A Thousand Years Wide, Drawing Flies, Tighter and Tighter, Slaves and Bulldozers, Jesus Christ Pose, 4th Of July, Spoonman, and Just Like Suicide are just some amazing songs by SoundGarden ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You forgot to mention “Searching With My Good Eye Closed”.
@@KiloEcho75 I said some of their good songs. Not all.😀
@@richardhenderson9767almost all of their songs are great, only ones I can think of that aren't are from the start or end of the band's life funnily enough
Limo Wreck next please. If you need a tutorial on what the down tune sound of grunge is this song really showcases it. Also I think most know Chris as a lead vocalist but as seen here very handy with the guitar and I believe had assembled a nice guitar collection.
Why doesn’t anyone belieeeeeve in Loneliness? (Zero Chance)
“Burden In My Hand” & “ Slaves & Bulldozers” are powerhouse performances by Chris.
Also everything on His first solo album “Euphoria Morning “ are amazing.
Yes, those two are some of my favorites from Soundgarden. Also "Blow Up The Outside World."
Euphoria Mourning is one of the most underrated albums ever
"Can't Change Me", "Flutter Girl", "Steel Rain", "Wave Goodbye" every song is killer from that album!
✔
R.I.P. Chris Cornell...💔 There's nobody like him..and there Never will be...
Shivers up and down the spine...I will never get tired of hearing his voice. RIP, why can we not keep the best of us here💔
he was taken
Evil kills beautiful hearts.
Along with "Burden in my hand" and "Blow up the outside world" my three favorite from them.
Next songs could be Black Rain or Spoonman. And you should check out Chris Cornell singing his cover of Billie Jean. It is amazing!
Love your reaction. Yes, Amber, the lyrics are really powerful, and J, most people can connect with those emotions, at least to some degree. The darkness of the music and the lyrics really support each other.
awesome !
One of the best bands of the 90's. A crazy voice, bad ass sounds and writing is incredible. Keep em coming. Chris wrote this song about his severe case of depression when he was a teenager and how he spent almost a year without leaving the house playing guitar and drums. Chris was clearly tormented his entire life by depression. We were fortunate to have gotten his incredible gift of song from his pain. RIP Chris!
"Don't you lock up something that you wanted to see fly." That just hit me really hard.
Rusty Cage is my favorite Soundgarden song.❤🤘
I’m always torn between Rusty Cage and Jesus Christ Pose. Possibly because they were my introduction to Soundgarden.
Yeah even Cash covered it
searching with my good eyes closed is mine......but that might be the memories of how it was while listening on mushrooms ;)RIP Chris
You should absolutely hit "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog, which consisted of the original lineup of Pearl Jam + Chris Cornell.
They have! It's on their channel.
@@aerynsunx, dang! I must've missed it!
RIP Chris Cornell 💔 He was one of the most beautiful human beings, inside and out, such a profound lyricist, and quite possibly the best singer of the rock era. I remember hearing or reading an interview where Chris was talking about finding out how phenomenal a voice he had, and he said something about just screaming so far outside of his (at the time) range and "finding" a note out there... I don't remember what Audioslave songs you've done, but I Am the Highway, Show Me How to Live, and Cochise are definitely on the list!
You guys should really check out Chris's cover of Billy Jean-- it's amazing!
Ok, so now I was just looking over what grunge songs you've reacted to-- is it true that you've never reacted to Pearl Jam's Black?!?!?!?!? One of my all time favorite songs!!
His cover of Sinead O'Connor's song Nothing Compares 2 U is also really good too.
Other Soundgarden songs you should definitely check out are, "Slaves & Bulldozers" (My personal favorite song of theirs), "Jesus Christ Pose", "Rusty Cage", "Pretty Noose", "Blow Up The Outside World" & "Spoonman" just to name a few.
For a future Female Friday, you should remember that Norah Jones did a version of Black Hole Sun live in Detroit, just four days after Chris' death. It's a hauntingly beautiful version of an already-cool song.
If you haven't done Pearl Jam Black acoustic live It's an another emotional masterpiece.
More Pearl Jam for sure!!!!
Love chris cornell ❤
So many songs for you to enjoy
Audioslave
Temple of the dog
Soundgarden
Solo stuff
All him all good!!
Please please please do more
Everything off Superunknown, Badmotorfinger and Temple of the Dog is gold.
I was lucky to see Chris Cornell perform with Temple of the Dog in San Francisco just a few months before he died. It was one of those performances that will always stick with me. A tremendous talent that was made transcendent by the pure honesty that came through with his lyrics
Lucky indeed. What a performer he was. I saw TotD at MSG, and when Chris passed a few months later it was extra sad.
Ohh thats so amazing! I was to ready to fly from Australia to go to that, but alas I couldnt make it. Luckily i got to see SG and then CC tour solo here.. but to see TOTD.. 🖤
There's so much early-mid 90s music to explore. You still have so much Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, etc to check out, but I think you've only done one Rage Against the Machine song, and they also have an extensive catalog. Then that leads into artists like Beck, who I don't think you've reacted to at all, and that led into the early 2000s with bands like the White Stripes. The 90s/early 2000s was a diverse and wonderful time in so many ways. Lots of changes taking place in the world and the music seemed to evolve daily.
I got to see him in 1995 here in England at Reading Festival, travelled down to the festival and remember watching him on the main stage with the sun going down, i will never forget it one of my all time fave bands! I'm still a Grunger!!
Best demonstration ever of Chris's vocal ability is a song called "say hello to heaven" by Temple of the Dog, which was a tribute band that Chris put together with Eddie Vedder and himself on vocals. Chris could smoothly span four full octaves. That is really amazing in itself. His music touched so many people at the deepest place that could ever be reached inside of them that it could really be called supernatural. Say Hello to Heaven. Bet you can't listen to it without your eyes watering up. It will get right in your soul.
See you have sooo much more to check out, Chris Cornell one of the best voices in rock. Gone too soon.
My favorite grunge band and one of my all-time favorite songs. Chris Cornell was a special talent. RIP
I love that this isn't the studio album release for their official video, and they made the effort to play it live. Gives you a more unique version.
I was going to say I had not heard this version before and I like it much better than the original studio version. It is so much rawer yet sadder
I love Sound Garden and this is one of my favourite songs of theirs. Also, if you want to jump back into some Nirvana, their song "Where did you sleep last night?" from MTVs Unplugged from the 90s is awesome! Granted it is a cover but I think they did a great job!
EVERY song on Chris Cornell's band Audio Slave ....after he went out on his own from Sound Garden is an absolute MUST hear album.
It absolutely ROCKS out to the nth degree....it's still my favorite music Chris Cornell ever sang. Incredible album. Check it out sometime guys. It R-O-C-K-S. You will hear Chris's emotions at their greatest height on the first Audio Slave album. ..(they only did two albums). He had many great hits off of that album as well. "Show Me How to Live", "Like A Stone", "I Am the Highway", "Gasoline", "Set It Off". To me this album is loaded with the VERY best of Chris Cornell's beautiful voice and every emotion. When you get to the track "The Last Remaining Light" put on headphones or play it on a nice quality sound system and crank.... it... up. . and close your eyes and listen to the song because it will take you to a whole other level. Excellent song to just chill out to. So enjoy!! 😊
I had the pleasure of seeing Sound Garden....Pearl Jam....Red Hot Chili Peppers.... Jane's Addiction.....Ministry....and so many more at Lollapalooza in the early 90's when they were all at their height with their greatest songs. One of THE best Lollapalooza shows ever done in its history. Lollapalooza shows were epic!!
Chris Cornell was one of the best and his voice was silenced far too soon. I'm glad he left us such great music to remember him by.
No matter what music i listen to when i put on my headphones....
My mantra is....
🎶 Music On....World Off 🎶 💯
Hey, you guys. For your next Soundgarden song, I cannot recommend enough "Burden In My Hand". A great, great song with a total and complete top performance by the band. And not only is "Fell On Black Days" a great song, but it's also a great performance here because the band is doing it live. You can feel how much they are putting into their performance even though it's for a video. Chris Cornell puts so much emotion into his vocals. He was truly one of Rock's great voices.
This sounds just slightly different than the original album version. It's very close, but like maybe it is remastered or live... Anyways, really glad you got to this I love Chris, he's my favorite grunge era singer. I have every album he ever sang on, be it his solo stuff, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, or as a guest on other records.
ANY song you do w/him is gonna be great, I'm sure many will have suggestions.
I want to advocate for bands you've never done yet like The Darkness, you need to hear their Last of Our Kind or Love is Only A Feeling.
Agree. The album cut us better than this version. That track just has more overall energy or an angrier sound overall than this one.
I'm pretty sure that's a live version for the video
I just listen to the music, the groove and melody... Can't even make out a lot of what these guys sing without looking at the lyrics.
Chris Cornell's voice could peel the paint off the walls in the best way possible.
SAY HELLO TO HEAVEN
Chris sang so Angalic
Great song! Great band! Chris Cornell had such an amazing voice, he is surely missed! Never be another!
This is the perfect way to start a Monday. Back in 94 and 95 I played Superunknown daily. That record along with a couple of others kept me sane during my Senior year of High School.
A lot of that signature Soundgarden sound was none other than Mr. Kim Thayil. His inventive guitar playing and use of weird, alternate tunings made a lot of this band's sound. And Matt Cameron is a beast of a drummer.
Some more suggestions for 90s rock - Queens of the stone age - no one knows, my god is the sun, the way you used to do, the evil has landed, little sister; Everclear - wonderful, I will buy you a new life, am radio, father of mine; Garbage - stupid girl, only happy when it rains, queer, I think I’m paranoid, #1 crush, push it, special
Overfloater and tighter and tighter are hidden gem Soundgarden songs
One of my favorites is when he sang with Audioslave - "Cochise". Get ready to rock!
This is def a different, earlier, demo-like version than I'm used to. He really hits those notes more in the real version. Imagine this, but remastered & well produced. I've never even seen this video, that's cool.
a good bit different from the album version for sure. this was never on mtv or the radio for sure.
@@Deezz1212Nope. It was on MTV. First time I saw it I was home from school sick. I remember it like it was yesterday.
It saddens me so much that there are so many musicians from this era that have passed. This music will have to be broadcast to future generations, only thru older videos and such. As a 60 year old, I'm still blessed to have heard, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltry, Eric Clapton thru old video - BUT also thru modern-day live shows! Future music fans will suffer as to NEVER hear Chris Cornell, Layne Stahley, Scott Weiland, Chester Bennington, Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Bradley Nowell.... the list goes on and on, LIVE!! I feel for these tortured souls who have passed - and I also feel for future music fans..
YES! One of my favorite Soundgarden songs.
Now your talking my language! Love this song and Chris was awesome! RIP Chris Cornell 😢
RIP Chris - lots of nights driving, doing school work, going to parties where his voice was in the background.
This is one I can put on repeat all day and never get sick of
More Alice in Chains please. Bleed the Freak,No Excuses,Rotten Apple ,Unplugged version of Brother is amazing too. Great reaction as always❤❤❤❤❤
Ironically, it was the night of the 18th of May 2017 when the great Chris Cornell fell on his own black day……..RIP Chris Cornell and thank you for sharing your great gift with us!
" Room a thousand years wide " most definitely
My Highschool years right here. My favorite song by them is Burden in my Hand. Loved it right away. I mean immediately.
Two brilliant solo songs are: "Scream" and "Sunshower"! Both are haunting 😢❤ Chris was one of a kind.
I loved this song when it came out, and im yet I'm now feeling every lyric.
Kim Thayil on guitar! One of the most respected and genius guitar composers and shredders of all time!
Chris Cornell Top 10 vocalist ever... right up there with Plant, Steven Tyler, Roger Daltrey. ..Freddy Mercury and Paul Rogers IMO.
Layne Staley.
Definitely my favorite Soundgarden song
“Rusty Cage”, “Loud Love”, “Jesus Christ Pose”, “Thank You”, “Billy Jean”, “Nothing Compares 2U”, and anything off of Euphoria Morning album.
"Rusty Cage" is one of my favorite Soundgarden songs along with "Spoonman." Totally recommend those.
The drummer in this video, Matt Cameron, is now the current drummer of Pearl Jam.
Chris was just an excellent rock singer whose voice had a ton of range and power. He could belt to shake the ground, and throw in enough grit for soaring screams. “Slaves And Bulldozers” is possibly his most explosive vocal performance, even in a career full of them.
Been awhile I've been working my tail off and finally got construction project finished but I must admit I've missed all the beautiful music you bring to the table keep up the outstanding work👍
My Oldest Brother, Turned me on to Soundgarden, Been a Fan after the First song I heard (Which was Spoonman..hint,hint ) Love the lyric "hands are for shaking, not Tying,
R.i.P Chris Cornell
Room A Thousand Years Wide is a Must!! Legendary.
GASP! My favorite Soundgarden song!!!
My favourite Soundgarden song is 4th of July. Very haunting song!
One of many great songs by Soundgarden.
Oh, Chris! He’s got such an amazing voice!
I saw them in the UMass Lowell hockey rink in 1994 at the peak of their power. 5000 sweaty mostly bikers. Incredible show.
I got into this band back in 92 when I heard them in the soundtrack to road rash on the Panasonic 3do 😊
Alright, y'all opened up the DEEP can of worms that is Chris Cornell, one of my hometown favorites. There is a LONG list of must-listens in his library, both in his solo career, as well as with Soundgarden and Audioslave. Sit back and enjoy the ride! I would suggest either "Slaves and Bulldozers" or "Searching With My Good Eye Closed" next. R.I.P. Chris, I can't forget to add that.
There's an alternative version of this song called "Black Days III" which is harder and heavier version.....a must listen for any Soundgarden fan
Definitely one of the most talented bands of all time.
My favourite singer ever.
My favourite band ever.
And maybe my fave SG song ever..
I actually wrote into MTV, headbangers ball in the 90s to lady V here in the UK, to play this video..
And a few weeks later...I was made...🤟😎🤟
Through my darkest and toughest times in the early 90's.. I experienced the loss of my two closest friends who took their lives both the same way . I fell on black days and this song helped me from joining them. Then for Chris and Chester leaving it hurt and still hurts so bad! This song will never not go with me! Thank you Chris SoundGarden and Squad for playing my list and more. Please remember the mental illnesses everyone suffers or goes through. No matter the circumstance or how different we all feel....... someone else has fell on this day! Listen and Help them! RIP Cornell! Rock On 🤘 Always! Thanks again You two!❤
The version of the song here is actually a live performance filmed just for the video.
great dark tone,,,one of a kind,,,,🤘🍁🤘
I always look for Soundgarden reactions. This is my favorite band by quite a margin.
Nirvana with extra rock. Love it.
First time hearing this group.
Wow I have asked for Soundgarden Fell on black days for along time Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
Playing for Change is a concept in music you should explore. Musicians from all over the world playing a song together. ALL Along the Watchtower and When the Levee Breaks are good places to start. You will be glad to have found this.
My favorite Soundgarden song. Watch out if I'm in the car and it comes on.
These guys!! When it comes to grunge, Layne Staley is my favorite singer, Soundgarden had the best album, Superunknown!! Any song off that album is amazing!! Another band you might have heard (but not enough) is Audioslave, featuring Chris and members from Rage Against the Machine!! From that band, listen to 'Like a Stone' and 'I am the Highway". Finally, there's "Seasons" from both the Singles and Man of Steel soundtracks! It makes me cry every time!!
When are you guys going to try out some Pearl Jam? They have a very strong catalog of grunge!
We miss Chris. The one we didn't expect to lose but will never forget
One of my favorite artists. I was lucky enough to see him twice before. His last concert in my town occurred just days before his passing. I wanted to go but didn’t buy tickets because it was just a few days after my due date. I planned on going if I weren’t in labor to ‘help induce labor’ but guess who went into labor a few hours before his concert? I never have regretted not going more.
No suggestions honestly, everything he’s done is beautifully done. I will say I’d love to see some Tool, Silverchair, Sevendust or Breaking Benjamin. They are all a bit different but very nostalgic for this 90s kid
"Blow Up The Outside World" and "Spoonman" would be awesome to hear. Great band.
You need to check out his acoustic performance of this song, recorded live for Sirius xm. Just a few years before he passed.
My favorite Soundgarden song. 👍
The best singer.
The best songwriter.
RIP Chris. You are so missed.
More Soundgarden?
Check out - 'Been away too long' ... 'My wave' ... 'Hands all over' ... 'Burden in my hand' ... 'Limo wreck' ... 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Definitely one of the best rock singers.
This is my favorite Soundgarden song for sure. For more 90s rock please check out Better Than Ezra ('Good', 'In The Blood) and Dishwalla ('Counting Blue Cars', Pretty Babies ') and for a really dark song, Toadies ('Possum Kingdom')
Yes, matt cameron deserves a lot of love. If you pay attention to his drumming you will see that he add so much to the songs with little tasty fills and flourishes bit it's always to serve the song.
Black Hole Sun my fave Soundgarden song and I’m 70….
Room a Thousand Years Wide, Blow Up the Outside World, Let Me Drown, Rusty Cage, Jesus Christ Pose… you can’t go wrong with Soundgarden. RIP Chris
Chester Bennington of Linkin Park was one of Chris's best buddies and ended their lives not long after each other. Two months after Cornell’s passing, Chester also died, both by hanging themselves. Suffering from deep depression and u can tell in their music. Chester is another amazing voice of the 90s. And for u J, Linkin Park does throw in some rap rock. They r such powerful singers and gone to soon. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
Kim Thayil the main guitarist of Soundgarden is from India originally.
For Soundgarden with an environmental message, try "Hands All Over." For a song with kickin' tempo - "Rusty Cage." For Chris Cornell solo with a bluesy edge - "Two Drink Minimum."
Great Sound Garden song, maybe Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" could be your next reaction, much love from Indiana!
I still remember sitting in a bar called popeyes in 1996 jamming out to this song and black hole sun
If you want more grunge, do some more Pearl Jam you've only done "Alive" sofar, next try "Black" or "Jeremy"
