This video captures the essence of the legendary movie Vanishing Point from 1971. The blind DJ in the beginning is Super Soul who gets lynched because he encourages Kowalski on the radio, to keep racing for freedom. Super Soul is played by Cleavon Little, who later played Sheriff Bart in Blazing Saddles.
Fantastic movie. Barry Newman in a '71 Challenger listening to Super Soul back at the station on his radio. I didn't know clips were used in a video until now.
Omg, Audioslave RULES!!!! Chris Cornell was one of the most beautiful, most talented men ever! And Tom Morello is a genius, revolutionary, and a transformative guitarist! 😲🤘🎸
I Am the Highway, What You Are, Cochise, Shadow On the Sun, Out of Exile, Be Yourself, Doesn't Remind Me, and Your Time Has Come, by Audioslave ROCK!!!!❤❤❤❤
If y'all havent checked it out yet, Cochise definitely needs to be your next Audioslave reaction 👍 Jay oughta be turnin cartwheels right there in the home studio to that one 😂
You're reaching my heart now. Chris Cornell is my favorite vocalist of all time. When I heard of his death I was so upset I had to take a week off from work. I really loved Chris and I didn't handle it well. I just didn't understand how someone who was so cherished by so many people, and had such a profound understanding of life and it's ups and downs could do such a thing. It affected a lot of people very deeply because he was such a phenominal person and truly exceptional singer. He was one of the very few who could traverse four full octaves and make it look easy. Plainly put, dude could have sang the phone book and made it sound good. There are a couple of songs that are sacred to me because they are just sooo f'ng powerful. I would be grateful if you two played them, and I believe you would also be amazed by the heart Chris pours out in them. One is called "Say hello to heaven" Temple of the Dog. The other is "I am the Highway" Audioslave. I want you guys to know I am also moved by what you are doing and the positive vibes you bring with you. Who could not love you guys!
Mannnnnn I miss Chris Cornell 🥺 Im so glad and blessed to have seen him live. His Soundgarden stuff, Audioslave (y’all need to check out more Rage Against The Machine too). Also have really dropped the ball on Pearl Jam if youre talkin Grunge. Eddie Vedders voice is just gorgeous too!
I was getting sober when this album came out in 2003 and anytime I hear a song from it it brings me back to early sobriety and discovering what life was like without drugs and alcohol!❤ killer album every song 🎶
@@Ashwgun I was so afraid I would get roasted by people saying all of STP's music is the best lol. Which I agree 100%. As you can tell by my name, I absolutely love STP. I just think Jordan and Amber would like the unplugged stuff better. But there is something special about their unplugged versions☺
Since I haven't seen it mentioned in the few hundred comments I went through, this song is actually about Frankenstein's monster. "Nail in my head, from my creator/You gave me life, now show me how to live" is essentially relating the monster's point of view from Mary Shelley's book. Now in terms of other Chris Cornell music, I love all of the Audioslave picks that people have been suggesting, so I will add the Soundgarden song "Blow Up the Outside World".
Audioslave, besides Chris Cornell, have some amazing musicians. The other members were all part of the band Rage Against the Machine. Please do some of their songs such as “Guerrilla Radio”, “Bulls on Parade”, and “Down Rodeo.”
I think the movie itself was really good in regards to the car chases, but I don’t like how the movie was done strictly as a bet. I think the remake version had a much better story to tell and the two main characters were both really good. Jason Priestly really put into motion trying to update the movie and I like it much better than the original one.
speaking of notes, "Chris Cornell "Fell On Black Days" Soundgarden Cover Live @ SiriusXM // Lithium". youll know the part. its life changing. no one sings like you anymore. RIP CC
There was no effects on his voice at the end. He made those different sounds by poking his throat with his fingers. Also, this music video is a canned version of the movie Vanishing Point.. literally. Watch the movie and you'll see. I thought that was neat.
Audioslave isn't grunge, it's ROCK. It's what you get when you take the amazing musicians of Rage Against the Machine and give them the ultimate upgrade at lead singer.
Chris Cornell is Kowalski and Cleavon Little (Blazing Saddles) is Super Soul, the blind DJ from the movie, "Vanishing Point", a movie as dark and troubled as Chris' real life. And you need to pay some homage to the great Tom Morello from Rage In The Machine, whose guitar Soul Power, makes these unreal sounds.
Back to some great music! A suggestion I have for the movie channel is “Singles”. It is a great Time Capsule of Seattle during the grunge era. Awesome soundtrack including Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, Alice In Chains, Mother Love Bone, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Ann and Nancy Wilson (Lovemongers), Jimi Hendrix and more! Added bonus - members of Pearl Jam as well as Chris Cornell have acting parts in it. Another bonus - concert scenes of Alice In Chains! Watch It!
Great reaction, it 's about time you do Tori Amos "Winter" live at the Montrex, 1991 you have to do the live version, it is so much better. You will love it!
Great reaction! Chris with or without shirt is amazing as well as all his bands! Gotta do his cover of Led Zeppelin’s Thankyou!!! Awesome vocals! Also SPOONMAN! Such great stuff!!RIP Chris the most amazing voice since Robert Plant and Steve Perry!!
A lot of people always confuse this song meaning with something spiritual Because of the "creator" also he says Nail in my head, buy people think he says Nail in my hand.
Wow!! You guys are on a roll as of late with songs on my playlist. This is my favorite Audioslave song followed by Set It Off another banger. Its the musicians from rage against the machine with cris cornell vocals, com’on its a modern day supergroup
You should check out some songs from his first solo album “Euphoria Morning” that he recorded between Soundgarden and Audioslave. It really is a collaboration with the band Eleven. A lot of good songs showcasing his voice such as “When I’m down” and “Moonchild”. Two other great songs with Eleven but not on the album are “Sunshower” and “Ave Maria”.
Love it! Speaking of iconic voices, y’all should get back to more Shinedown! Brent Smith is one of the most underrated voices around! Check out Daylight or Symptom of Being Human of off their newest album, Planet Zero. You won’t be disappointed. I promise you.
Incredible song and video. I think there was so much dismay at the breakup of RATM, that too many critics slept on and/or criticized Audioslave as just commercial hard rock, and only after about 15-20 years after the music came out is it widely appreciated. Next time around Audioslave "Cochise" which was the first single and still contains one of the most cathartic screams in rock history (and oh yeah another great performance video).
RIP Chris Cornell! Audioslave was a fantastic band and this is an incredible song. Chris has one of the coolest voices in rock. Love the t-shirt J. I have the same one in black. Great band DD.
Arguably the best rock singer ever, he had power, range, and inspiration. The fact that he was as good on guitar, is like icing on the cake, man I miss him.
I love that you love this, and it confirms that you would also ADORE the group I have been begging you to react to for well over a year, King's X, considered by many musicians to have influenced the grunge scene. Soul, funk, metal, beatlesque harmony, heavy riffs, thoughtful words. *sigh* about to give up :/ You've introduced me to all kinds of music ive never heard. Please let ME put a smile on YOUR face with King's X, "Dogman," "We Are Finding Who We Are", "Summerland," "Talk to You," "Groove Machine," "Pray".... and the lead singer dug usually has no shirt in their live stuff. :D please see what youve missed, they will be among your faves i promise you. They were my real dad's favorite group and the first live band i ever saw, riding on his shoulders when i was very little. They are still together, still releasing music.
Oh, and any Chris Cornell video is a good reminder that you MUST see Singles on your movie channel-- mind-blowing luck that so many foundational bands filmed it before grunge broke, and it was release as grunge was taking over the world!!! Soundgarden, Pearl Jam (or is it Citizen Dick?!?!? 🤔🤣) Alice in Chains, and more!
Great band.. Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk all from Rage Against The Machine just changed out Zack De La Rocha for the great Chris Cornell on vocals so amazing!!
The video is compiled from scenes from the 1971 movie "Vanishing Point", a classic car chase film and a personal favourite of mine. The band have been cleverly added into these clips by being filmed with a white Dodge Challenger in the dessert the same as is in the film. Very good video and great song, it's a first listen for me as I don't usually listen to music from this century but that's down to my age, though this proves there are some gems out there, they are just harder to find.
Thanks. I was wracking my brain trying to remember the name of that movie. I saw it several times in the theater as a teen. It was hauntingly good. A true classic. They did a great job mixing scenes from the movie with scenes of the band in the car. Great video and song that I haven't heard before.
I was fortunate enough to see Audioslave at Lollapalooza. They did not disappoint! This may be my favorite song of theirs. Shout out to Vanishing Point and Super Soul! "Nail in my hand From my creator! You gave me life Now show me how to live!"
This is, as Jay so happily says, an ultimate banger. Another slammer from this to check out is Cochise - the intro guitar sounds like a helicopter 🚁. Killer.
Nice. You gotta do his contribution to a documentary about refugees, particularly in Syria, "The Promise". And it is intercut with him playing his acoustic guitar in his studio and singing this amazing song, with footage from the movie that his soundtrack went against. And it is so intense. This was not all that long before he died.
Scenes in this video were from the movie Vanishing Point. Great car chase movie from the early 70s. 1970 Dodge Challenger 440 six pack car with a pistol grip shifter. Rare and awesome car.
Before this song, I really hadn’t gravitated toward Cornell. However, after hearing this song in 2002/2003, my life changed. Cornell’s music helped me get through some of my most difficult years of my life. To this day, Soundgarden is my favorite band, and Audioslave is in my top five favorite bands.
This video has alot of clips from the 1971 movie "Vanishing Point" in it a movie worthy of checking out. Alot of awesome car chases throughout the movie
Tom Morello+Tim Commerford+Brad Wilk + Zack De La Rocha=Rage Against the Machine. Tom Morello +Tim Commerford+Brad Wilk +Chris Cornell=Audioslave. Change just one name but the result is still fu**ing wonderful s**t. I love'em all ❤️❤️❤️
The guitar player Tom Morello is a Harvard grad. The OG band was rage against the machine then this band was formed with them and the lead singer of soundgarden. The entire album is amazing.
The greatest singer ever plus the greatest band minus Zach De La Rocha and you got Audioslave. Cochise next as its the very first song on their debut album. It blew me away.
Audioslave and Soundgarden were very different groups but Cornell went between each and sounded so natural with both. He truly could sing anything as make it sound amazing
This entire album is a masterpiece. Audioslave was a true supergroup.
Absolutely
Crazy how the critics didn’t appreciate the album when it came out
Damn right!
Audioslave was a masterpiece!
My favorite of all Cornell music comes from Audioslave. I think it's the combo of Cornell's vocals and Tom Morello's insane guitar work.
My all time favorite Audioslave song!! 🔥 You must do their song “Cochise” next!! It’s pure fire!! You’ll love it,guaranteed ❤
Its great, but shadow of the sun is close on my list 9:02 9:03 9:04
I suport that. "Cochise" NEXT PLEASE!
Cochise
Gasoline is killer too
This is why I love this channel. As a Brit I never heard of Audioslave but OMG I'll be listening to them now! Utterly awesome 🥰
What a video.
Fantastic movie. Barry Newman in a '71 Challenger listening to Super Soul back at the station on his radio. I didn't know clips were used in a video until now.
I KNEW I RECOGNIZED THAT CAR!!
hardly anybody gets that
But it was Petrocelli driving !!
May 18th was the anniversary of his death. Miss you Chris.
NO ONE SINGS LIKE YOU ANYMORE......✨✨✨✨✨
😢😢 ME TOO! GREAT TALENT!!!
THAT VOICE IS UNMATCHED!!
Soundgarden is amazing forever, but there is a special place in my heart for Audioslave. Chris + Tom = bliss.
Amen
This man had a voice like no other. His voice just touched your soul when he sang. This song was and is still bad ass. RIP Chris.
Crazy how much more it reaches deep down since his passing.
@@brandonjt79we will never hear another of his kind. He was surely one of one.
Another great song by Audioslave is Cochise ( Official Music Video)
💯
It's absolutely amazing
RIP Chris Cornell. He did a great version of Nothing Compares to You. It’s a must listen 🎧
Hell to the yeah!
His live, acoustic Billie Jean is amazing.
Yes!
RIP Chester Bennington too… he committed suicide because of Cornell died
They reacted to Nothing Compares to You but not Billie Jean.
Omg, Audioslave RULES!!!! Chris Cornell was one of the most beautiful, most talented men ever! And Tom Morello is a genius, revolutionary, and a transformative guitarist! 😲🤘🎸
Clicked on this one as soon as I saw it. Chris Cornell is so amazing. I love this song. Thanks guys ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Same. I've been wanting them to do this! 🤘😎
I Am the Highway, What You Are, Cochise, Shadow On the Sun, Out of Exile, Be Yourself, Doesn't Remind Me, and Your Time Has Come, by Audioslave ROCK!!!!❤❤❤❤
Chris Cornell, Lord Have Mercy, has the most powerful of ages!!! Love this him!!! R.I.P. Love this group!!!! Great Reactions!!!
I suggest some songs from Soundgarden: "Fell on black days","Spoonman","The day i tried to live", "Outshined"
I second Outshine!
Fourth of July
'Like A Stone', 'I Am The Highway', and this are favourites. Ta! 💟
If y'all havent checked it out yet, Cochise definitely needs to be your next Audioslave reaction 👍 Jay oughta be turnin cartwheels right there in the home studio to that one 😂

“I am the Highway” needs to be next
I'm so happy i got to see audioslave live like 5 times. Closest I got was against the stage between Chris and Tom one of best shows ever.
This is my favorite Audioslave Song. The Video is clips from the 1971 film Vanishing Point,
100% killer banger. My #1 Audioslave song. And I was rocking a Chris Cornell playlist when the notification for this popped up. Best coincidence ever.
Scenes from the movie, "Vanishing Point".
He had talent and passion on a plateau that in my humble opinion very few singers have reached. He was definitely one of a kind. RIP Chris 🙏✌️🫶
I was getting sober when this album came out in 2003 and anytime I hear a song from it it brings me back to early sobriety and discovering what life was like without drugs and alcohol!❤ killer album every song 🎶
😍💭
Love this! RIP Chris
And please do more Stone Temple Pilots 🙏 aucustic versions is their😍 best!!
Creep - Unplugged , is so beautifully haunting
That whole unplugged session, I wish they had done a cd

Those scenes are from the 1971 movie Vanishing Point...Definitely one to add to your movie nights!!!!!!!!
Great movie. Pretty cool the way they incorporate parts of the movie into their video.
This video is clips from the 1971 movie Vanishing Point. A very hard to find movie. The DJ is Cleavon Little.
Can't go wrong with Chris. Phenomenal vocals. Soundgarden My Wave is a good 1
This album was in heavy rotation when it was released, you can press play and let it ride... masterpiece of an album
Love Chris! You have to check out his solo song ‘When I’m Down’ live at the Troubadour. Just him and a piano. Sooo good! ❤😊
That performance was phenomenal!
Cochise and Gasoline are great Audioslave tunes to check out 👍
The movie scenes are based on "Vanishing Point", from 1971. An awesome car chase movie!
They are actual scenes from the movie, not BASED on.
I am so happy you listened to this. It is my favorite song by Chris Cornell. I requested this a few times. Thanks for sharing it
I really Dig y'all's reactions to this 👍😉
But with that being said, "COCHISE" should be the next one you react to ... Like Right Now! 🤨😂😎💯🔥🎸🥁
Chris does an absolutely ASTOUNDING acoustic cover of MJs "Billy Jean". It gives the song whole new levels of meaning.
And a most excellent, Heart felt cover of Prince’s Nothing Compares To You - Timeless
Stone Temple Pilots is another one from this era you should get back to as well. "Creep" and "Dead and Bloated" are two you haven't reacted to yet.
Love Audioslave! Try listening to "I am the Highway" or "Doesn't Remind Me" next.
LOVE I AM The highway!!

I absolutely love Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine. This mix of guys is really a special combination. RIP CC!!
Getting 'Vanishing Point' and 'Dirty Mary Crazy Larry' vibes with that white Challenger R/T. Both movies are a must watch.
Great video pays homage to the equally great movie Vanishing Point.
Thank you! Could not think of the movie title.

Its so cool seeing Amber enjoy jammin out to this music considering how it used to be painful to her to listen to anything hard rock🎉 so AWSOME

Excellent track. If you guys are looking for some more grunge Rain when I die by Alice In Chains is a MUST.
Love that song and their songs "I am the highway", "like a stone"
His solo stuff is amazing!
This is pure rock and roll. Grunge is also rock, but with a specific dirty guitar sound.
There was no effects on his voice at the end. He made those different sounds by poking his throat with his fingers. Also, this music video is a canned version of the movie Vanishing Point.. literally. Watch the movie and you'll see. I thought that was neat.

The song is about Frankenstein's Monster
A lot of people always confuse this song meaning with something spiritual Because of the "creator" also he says Nail in my head, buy people think he says Nail in my hand.
It's about him being given the ability to hurt himself and holding out. Given the nail and not using it... Unfortunately he did 😭
