I have the offset 35/25 on my Africa twin. Love them, bullet proof, reasonably secure, beaver tail is very useful for carrying wet stuff, flip flops or a small hatchet. Only thing I would do different is buy the 35/35 instead of the 35/25. If you pack accordingly the extra room is nice. You also need to re-think how you pack in order to maximize the volume, ie what do you put in the aux pockets. They are easy to remove and take into a hotel or motel with you.
I wouldn't change the 25L. I have a 35L on the right of my 2020 ATAS and if I'm not careful in tight spots it catches me. It hangs out just a little to far passed the handle bars (my judge of what I can fit thru) short of that I love them, I too have thoroughly tested the durability 🤣🤣🤣
I just finished putting my Aux Pods on my new offset Backcountry Panniers and will be packing them up for a weekend trip shortly. When I was shopping around, I kept coming back to Mosko, but was a little put off by the price. After doing my research, though, the 'cheaper' alternatives that weren't just garbage really weren't all that much cheaper ($200 for the pair, maybe), and lacked a bunch of features such as the quick release mounting. With that in mind, I pulled the trigger. So far, super impressed. These things were built to survive in any and all conditions and you can tell they thought really hard about everything when they were designing it. I also got a Scout top bag, which can double as a backpack! I'm very impressed with this kit.
Congrats on the Mosko Moto affiliate role! I just ordered the new pannier brush guards.. 'cause tight over grown PNW 2 track. Good presentation Ian. See you in Discord
I cringed when I bought these for my GSA, thinking I'd miss the aluminum panniers I was so afraid of denting. But I have no regrets and have really enjoyed the mosko moto bags. I also like that I can put them on whatever bike I own going forward. Very happy with mine.
I might add one con and solution: The liners can be quite grabby on certain items you may put in them. (Plastic boxes, rubber sip bags, packing cubes) MY SOLUTION: Baby Powder 😄. Just put some in your hands and rub everything that’s blue. Sure your stuff may have a light powder coating and smell, but you might need it after a couple days of hard riding 😆. I love my bags and you are right, “buy once cry once”.

I'd be interested to see you review a lightweight system, perhaps maybe even try out a lightweight camping trip using something like the Green Chile Adventure Gear Pecos Bundle. It's nothing fancy but it's at a great price point if you already have light gear too. I was really into ultralight/lightweight backpacking prior to getting my motorcycle and a lot of the gear translates over.
I was startled when Ian popped out like a used car salesmen... from my 3yrs experience. 1) pro - straps on the beaver tail easy to add or dry stuff when riding 2) pro - ability to carry small axe outside of bag, makes it look cooool 3) pro - aux pox, I use it without drybag, I use it for quick access, drinks, snacks, things that can be exposed. 4) con - weight, I think it weighs about 15lbs empty without the puck Amazing panniers, I would highly recommend. I also got their 30L duffle/pack.
I got a set of the 25 litter mounted on my F850GS. The best saddle bags you can get. Already taken them on some trips with mi girl fully packed and even going at 180kph. Solid bags. Expensive but worth every dollar. Great company as well, even with fast and reasonable cost to ship it to Peru.
They also have great resale value if you’re ever crazy enough to get out of adv riding. Very desirable and hard to find used Mosko gear because no one is ever unsatisfied with their gear.
There were points during the pandemic when you could sell them for well over their new retail price. And people would happily pay it. The quality is definitely there.
I hated spending the money for these bags, but I love them. Initially I had a giant loop bag. Sure those don't need a rack, but such a hassle to pack and access stuff. [Have a feeling the reckless bags are similar quandary] The Backcountry bags are so much nicer to pack and use. Plus they come on and off so easy. Definitely worth the price.
Since they utilize an inner waterproof bag, does that mean the outer bag material is not waterproof? Do you get moisture between the inner and outer bags? How long does it take for the outer material to dry out once it gets wet?
I appreciate that Mosko automatically shows Canadian prices and ships to Canada. I will keep these bags and this link at the top of my shopping list when I'm ready to commit to soft luggage. I expect the Canadian government will slap some duty and/or taxes when it crosses the border, but the price is not higher than I expected for quality soft luggage.
Have you thought about Enduristan or Giant Loop or Wolfman sold in Canada from Dualsport Plus ....always had a bad experience with transport and customs and taxes, fee's etc
The prices on the Mosko site include duty and tax, you just pay in the cart and go. I've bought a few things from their Canadian site and there's no hidden fees.
@@matt_kelly Have you actually purchased anything from them to confirm there's no other fees when you received them? looking at buying a set myself, I'm in Canada too
@@richm4402Yes, I bought an R80 last year and a Backcountry Duffle a few months ago, I didn’t pay any other fees. I live in B.C., if it matters. You could still reach out to them by email to make sure.
Have you done any experimentation with how high the pucks are mounted on the bars? I noticed yours are set to hold the bags as low as possible, which makes sense to keep weight low. With that aux bag on the bottom do you have any concerns about it dragging or hitting the ground? Maybe that only matters for lower bikes? I've kicking around the idea of carrying a small fuel bladder there. Any thoughts on that?
Great video, I have hard bmw luggage but I was thinking of getting some lonerider soft luggage, now I will be rethinking lol. Is the underneath bag you have put on waterproof as well.
Hi Ian. I enjoy your videos and want to share my experience with the Backcountry 35's I bought three years ago. The Good: Two years ago while riding the Idaho BDR a rack mount sheared letting the bag bounce up and down until I stopped. Not a scratch. Amazing. A bit of bailing wire and I was on my way. (I bought the bike used with the racks and didn't realize they were not design for hard bags, including the Backcountry 35. The were design for bags where the rack serves as a standoff.) The Bad: When Idaho forest service roads are cleared of trees it is common to saw the tree leaving a section hanging in the road. The Beaver tail clipped the sawed tree ripping out the corner of the bag. Mosko acknowledge this as a known problem and now sell a cover for about $70. Mosko also covered the cost of the repair but the staff is overwhelmed so the communication experience was meh. Given I ride in forest service roads often with cut trees protruding every which way the Beaver Tail is a liability. The screws holding the pucks must be torqued just so and with blue loctite. Over tighten the screws and it is hard to install the bag as there isn't enough clearance between the bag puck and the rack. It is fiddly. So would have a set pucks for each bike. These bags behave like hard bags from a safety stand point. They mount solid to a rack and they are stiff once filled so I can see wrenching an ankle in a fall. I think something like a Wolfman that installs over the rear seat and leans on the rack may have more give. All in all I like the bags but might go a different direction next time. Perhaps Tusk?
I have the exact same bags on my 22 GS Adventure 40th Anniversary and love them. Yea, pricey but well worth the cost. The beaver tail is the bees knees for misc crap that you want handy. If something happened to these, I'd buy the same again.
worth every penny - same set up here...as much as i hit heavy terrain and dump my bike...they are almost Bomb proof....I switch them back and forth between the GSA and 660...something dramatically would have to change my mind not to use Mosko...thanks!!!
Bravo as always 👏 the price of these is brutal though. Would love to see a comparison against other quick release soft luggage options. Keep up the great work 👍
One negative is that you have to leave that plate always attached to the bike racks unless you want every time to dismantle. It may get damaged if you slide or crash your bike without the bags installed
Hey Ian, one question was left from the review for me. Is there any way to more-or-less lock there bags to the bike, and to more-or-less lock them closed? Of course it won't be like an aluminium box, but if I make it hard to steal the bag that's a big relief already.
So it’s just a quick shot from the back but looks like you didn’t have to use there adapter kit for your puck on the right side? Is this correct? Thank you
Question: watched numerous videos of these panniers. But no one has shown what it looks like down inside the bag. Reason I'm asking is I'm wondering how difficult/easy it is to load the bags, and I'd be interested in how you pack your clothing in one of these. Although I will never buy hard panniers, it's easy to see that they load like a suitcase, so easy to see what you have in them. I personally roll my cloths and rubber-band each item. I wonder if it's possible to install some type of plastic support structure similar to what they use in the LoneRider bags. Thanks in Advance for your response.
I liked this video it took me right to the mosko moto web site to check out there gear and i see they have some nice riding gear as well could you do a review of some of there riding gear :)
Hello Ian,thank you for a great channel,im a new adv rider recently purchased 1250gsa and am seriously considering these bags, could you please comment if its any advantage to buy the asymmetrical size because of the exhaust pipe,21L exhaust side 35L left side, your opinion would be great, thanks
Lukefish mentioned the Norden 901 EXPEDITION. Curious how many people know about it? They're probably going to sell out fast. There are only 2 in the entire province of British Columbia that I know of. I was very lucky to get one.
I’ve been watching your videos for around 3 years now. As a viewer, I appreciate your disclosure of your current affiliation with the endorsed product. Unfortunately, as presented this really wasn’t a useful product review. It doesn’t provide the data necessary to make an informed decision on what to buy. A more useful review would have been a comparison between the endorsed product and its competition. In the Western USA, the brands of rack mounted, pannier, soft luggage you typically see are Amazon products (various companies), Tusk (Pilot & Olympic), Nelson Rigg (Dry Bags and Hurricane), Wolfman (Rocky Mountain Expedition), Giant Loop (Round the World and MotoTrekk), and Mosko Moto (BackCountry 35L or 25L). In that way, you could show why you think the Mosko luggage is specifically better and worth the premium price. I have no doubts on the quality and look of the Mosko luggage. The other brands above (some of which you have endorsed/reviewed) are also very good with a caveat of Amazon products which may or may not be good (buyer beware). The Mosko luggage seems like much more of a status symbol. I encourage you to look at what people are actually using on your travels. My guess is you’ll find Mosko on BMW 850/1250 GS models most frequently if those bikes have soft luggage. Lesser status bike brands seem to have much more flexibility on what they purchase. 🤣 Also is there an effective way to lock the Mosko Luggage on the bike. The ease of putting on and taking off the luggage makes me think it would have a higher probability of wandering off at a stop…
Thats the most well written piece I have seen used for a UA-cam comment. Comparisons are incredibly valuable, and I always appreciate when they are included in a review. These products do not exist in a vacuum, and quite honesty are not inexpensive for most bike owners. - Frank
Mosko Moto shows in a photo 2 MSR fuel bottles sticking out of the inner liner of a 4 liter Aux Pox. I tried putting 2 bottles in, nada. Maybe you have to coat the bottles with Vasoline first. But I do have the kit you show as well as the 30L duffle and after you get over the heart flutter on the prices they are great.
Hi Scott I own the 35l panniers with 2 auxpox in each one. In one of the auxpox I place 2 MSR 800ml fuel bottles. They fit snug and nicely. Give it a try!
I added the 5 liter Aux Pox, not the 4 Liter, and have no problem fitting a pair of 1L MSR fuel bottles. They are just snug enough to not bounce around loose, but still easy to insert and remove. If you really want to add some more fuel capacity, a 2.75 liter soda bottle will also fit perfectly into the 5 liter Aux Pox. Stars & Stripes soda sold at Dollar Tree stores comes in 2.75 liter bottles for around $1.50 per bottle. Dump the soda, rinse and dry the bottle and refill with fuel. Though not an agency approved fuel container, they do work. The plastic the bottle is made of is compatible with gasoline and the bottle pressure containment capability of over 100 psig far exceeds the Reid vapor pressure of gasoline that runs in the range of 5 - 7 psig. The main weakness of the soda bottle is little resistance to punctures, not a problem with the MSR aluminum fuel bottles.
Благодарю за обзор , много путешествую на моте GS 1200 , у меня жесткие оригинальные боковые кофры не совсем удобно! Планирую приобрести не смотря на невозможность официальной поставки в мою страну!
good question! I'd also really like to know how they do loaded and going through big whoops. that's one thing about the cheaper bag's...i think they flop around and on a long trip would suck!
Ian, I would have liked to see you actually pack stuff, maybe clothes for example, in these long, narrow bags. Seems it would be easy to totally wrinkle clothing when packing. Please tell me I'm wrong!
Friend of mine has them and I love the panniers, I just hate the looks of the pucks when the panniers are not on. I love to use the SW-Motech pro carrier, as it can easily be detached from the bike, but I saw that the mounting pucks are not compatible with that.... so I am still hesitant to buy them. Great video again!
I'm sure they are, as you can drill 3 holes to adapt the M Moto panniers onto the SW Motech racks. A few youtube videos as well as M Moto vids that who how to do this.
My new Backcountry bags do not have attach points in the bottom for fixing Aux Pockets. Is your installation Mosko Moto engineered and approved or just something you jury rigged on your own? I want to mount pocket on the bottom also, but don't want to damage these very expensive bags doing so.
@@BigRockMoto My 35 Liter bags do have some sort of light plastic webbing on the bottom that resembles molle, but it is not the super heavy duty braided nylon strapping that real molle is made of. I would not trust it to hold more than a few ounces, let alone 5 liters of water or gasoline. The Aux pockets are supplied with mounting screws and blind Tee nuts to attach to the Backcountry bags. The Backcountry bags are manufactured with reinforced holes on each end specifically for bolting the Aux pockets to the bags, and these holes have velcro patches that conceal and cushion the Tee nut heads. There are no such provisions in the bottom of the Backcountry bags.
Confused between Backcountry and Rackless. I am a beginner and can't make up my mind. Watched all your videos on luggage systems but alas, they didn't help my choice. It would be good if you could help with the factors and their weights that influence the choice of the above systems, then noting the preferences for each factor would help in choosing the right system.
I have a yamaha t7. Do you think the reckless 40 is enoughbcapacity for a weekend camping adventure? Im having a hard time decident between the 40L or 80L system.
the 40L is only enough if you have super tiny camping gear and don't bring any chairs, food, water, etc. I could not do camping with the 40 but many people do - there are youtube videos showing how they pack.
Maybe a little weird comment, but I also love using those PUIG windshield extentions. After much experimentation I found them to work best if they're at a 90 degree angle to the road (L-shape) thus facing the wind head-on. Results if angling them parralell to the windscreen as you have it is just OK. Just a thought work a try.
Mine broke the stock windscreen on my 2016 AT, riding in sustained 30mph head winds was the cause. Replaced it with the Madstad windshield, expensive but highly recommend it
I have admired the Mossi products for some time, but as they don’t work on the racks on my GS, I’ll have to take a pass for something that does…I want to be able to use the aluminum panniers when I want as well as a soft system…
Hi Ian! I'd be curious on your take of mosko vs lone rider. I love the practicality of my hard panniers as a commuter, but they are so bent out of shape from my off road shenanigans, which leads me to lone rider. But they are SOOO expensive! I hear your cry once moto, and I agree, I just want to be sure it is JUST once! @bigrockmoto
Ian. My bday gift for April. My wife loves me:)! I clicked the link to give you the credit cuz I wouldn’t have considered them until I started watching your videos. The link didn’t work for me. Will you DM me with a fresh link?
No, but Mosko Moto offer a couple of cable locks on their web page. But they will never be as secure as alu panniers. With softbags anyone can use a sharp knife to access what's inside
@@dnwaterh That's true. I have owned alu panniers, soft bags and the expandable hard plastic cases from BMW, the alu cases is the one I felt most happy with when it came to security. The plastic ones ane soft bags take just a couple of seconds to break up the alu ones are a little bit more fiddly
I choose cheap chinese panniers from amazon for 70$...have been through two BDRs...and many low speed crashes! LOL....they are bomb proof for pennies. just saying

Wish I’d been aware of this set up before I paid nearly $2k for BMW’s Vario set. Next time. Great review.
1) pro - straps on the beaver tail easy to add or dry stuff when riding
2) pro - ability to carry small axe outside of bag, makes it look cooool
3) pro - aux pox, I use it without drybag, I use it for quick access, drinks, snacks, things that can be exposed.
4) con - weight, I think it weighs about 15lbs empty without the puck
Amazing panniers, I would highly recommend.
I just ordered a set of BC35 using your link. Thanks for a great video.
Just waiting for the woodland to come back in stock. Thanks Ian!
I bought the Reckless 80L V3 some months ago. Only tested it once, but in may i Will go to Morocco and will give it a full test.
Thinking of riding down from Vancouver and getting them installed
The prices on the Mosko site include duty and tax, you just pay in the cart and go. I've bought a few things from their Canadian site and there's no hidden fees.
@@matt_kelly Have you actually purchased anything from them to confirm there's no other fees when you received them? looking at buying a set myself, I'm in Canada too
@@richm4402Yes, I bought an R80 last year and a Backcountry Duffle a few months ago, I didn’t pay any other fees. I live in B.C., if it matters. You could still reach out to them by email to make sure.
Do you prefer these over the SW-Motech? Any others you recommend that are a little more affordable?
Have you done any experimentation with how high the pucks are mounted on the bars? I noticed yours are set to hold the bags as low as possible, which makes sense to keep weight low. With that aux bag on the bottom do you have any concerns about it dragging or hitting the ground? Maybe that only matters for lower bikes? I've kicking around the idea of carrying a small fuel bladder there. Any thoughts on that?
If you have a gsa the akalaka mounts from gateway BMW are great mounts and allow you switch jnstsntly between factory hard bags and the Mosco bags.
Great video, I have hard bmw luggage but I was thinking of getting some lonerider soft luggage, now I will be rethinking lol. Is the underneath bag you have put on waterproof as well.
Hello
FYI I purchased on Sunday 1/28/24 a set of mosko 35l panniers for my Ducati Dersert x. I used your link. Waiting for the bags to arrive. .
The were design for bags where the rack serves as a standoff.)
The Bad: When Idaho forest service roads are cleared of trees it is common to saw the tree leaving a section hanging in the road.
Keep up the great work 👍
I use Givi Canyon and find them very good , I would be interested to hear how they compare to these ?
One negative is that you have to leave that plate always attached to the bike racks unless you want every time to dismantle. It may get damaged if you slide or crash your bike without the bags installed
Hey Ian, one question was left from the review for me. Is there any way to more-or-less lock there bags to the bike, and to more-or-less lock them closed? Of course it won't be like an aluminium box, but if I make it hard to steal the bag that's a big relief already.
So it’s just a quick shot from the back but looks like you didn’t have to use there adapter kit for your puck on the right side? Is this correct? Thank you
Id like to see Ian do a review of the Rhinowalk rackless and/or racked luggage
Question: watched numerous videos of these panniers. But no one has shown what it looks like down inside the bag. Reason I'm asking is I'm wondering how difficult/easy it is to load the bags, and I'd be interested in how you pack your clothing in one of these. Although I will never buy hard panniers, it's easy to see that they load like a suitcase, so easy to see what you have in them. I personally roll my cloths and rubber-band each item. I wonder if it's possible to install some type of plastic support structure similar to what they use in the LoneRider bags. Thanks in Advance for your response.
Solid review! I wish more luggage companies would put the beavertail function on their soft bags
In my opinion I prefer to have the same size on each side. They don't stick out very far. The racks on the GS are pretty slim fitting.
Thank you!
Also is there an effective way to lock the Mosko Luggage on the bike. The ease of putting on and taking off the luggage makes me think it would have a higher probability of wandering off at a stop…
If you do a careful comparison, some Amazon clone luggage is identical to the name brand products. Just different branding.
@@ParallelCamper I agree. That is often the case when products are made in the same locations.
Thats the most well written piece I have seen used for a UA-cam comment. Comparisons are incredibly valuable, and I always appreciate when they are included in a review. These products do not exist in a vacuum, and quite honesty are not inexpensive for most bike owners. - Frank
Thank you. What’s your recommended soft tail bag? I have a YW200 and looking for a day trip tail bag to store gear. Thank you. Karl from NY
After this review I will look into a set for my Scrambler XE 1200
Good video but man when you said expensive that still didn't prepare me for the prices I saw when I went to the website..
Hope you review the Backcountry 2.5v as well
I have a gnome tank bag from Mosko Moto and the quality is great, if their luggage was in my price range I'd probably go for it.
Would be great to have an in-depth comparison between these and the lonerider bags
And Enduristan and AdventureSpec and Giant Loop ....
@@osimnod i found the enduristan and giantloop to be a level below the Mosko and Lonerider in terms of materials, construction and flexibility
@@enricobononi8655 Good to know. Lyndon Poskitt has chosen to work with Enduristan after advising AdventureSpec.
How are they at speed? Do they flutter at freeway speeds?
good question! I'd also really like to know how they do loaded and going through big whoops. that's one thing about the cheaper bag's...i think they flop around and on a long trip would suck!
Keep up the reviews!! Any suggestions on a travel took kit for Adventure riding?? (KTM950)
That entry 😂😂😂 loved it.
Thank you. Another great review.
Ian,
I would have liked to see you actually pack stuff, maybe clothes for example, in these long, narrow bags. Seems it would be easy to totally wrinkle clothing when packing. Please tell me I'm wrong!
Thanks for the review. BTW, the first link is not working for me.
Great review as always Ian. Klx 230 SM with ABS coming soon? Color me intrigued!
for that bike I'd look at the Reckless 40 or 80
My new Backcountry bags do not have attach points in the bottom for fixing Aux Pockets. Is your installation Mosko Moto engineered and approved or just something you jury rigged on your own? I want to mount pocket on the bottom also, but don't want to damage these very expensive bags doing so.
My 35s have molle on the bottom. What size bags did you get? Maybe the smaller bags don't have the molle?
Good panniers and a neat fixing system.
Go to Mosko Moto UA-cam channel. It's all there my Man.
@bigrockmoto Your link to the backcountry panniers is dead!
For most of us, 200-300$ Vanucci or Dainese bags will do the job. You really don’t need to pay 700$ unless they are on your bike in the rain every day
I wish they'd fit on my OEM racks on my V85TT.
Great review. I understood now why they are very expensive.
Thanks for watching!
@@BigRockMoto thank you for the reply!
Replaced it with the Madstad windshield, expensive but highly recommend it
@@AnyMotoUSA What size, what shade and what bike (2016 AT?? what is that?).

I have admired the Mossi products for some time, but as they don’t work on the racks on my GS, I’ll have to take a pass for something that does…I want to be able to use the aluminum panniers when I want as well as a soft system…
they sell adaptors for the GS I believe, check out the site
Does it have lock system?
Can I mount these bags to SW Motech Pro Rack ?
Can we review that klx230sm?
Do you have a promo code for a discount?!
the price is not justifiably too high, the end does not justify the purpose
Thinking I need a BMW too 🤔
Still stuck between these and Giant Loop Round The World.
Are they lockable?
Yes.
No, but Mosko Moto offer a couple of cable locks on their web page. But they will never be as secure as alu panniers. With softbags anyone can use a sharp knife to access what's inside
@@HallgeirBakken So yes.
@@HallgeirBakken and with a screwdriver or tip of a key, I can break into my aluminum panniers
“A premium product for a premium rider.” I think you meant to say ‘price.’ Can you be a “premium rider” without these bags? Please advise? 😬😳😟
