Over the years, i have tried and reduced my gear to fit in just 1 bag. All my clothes, tools, etc fots in one tail bag. I generally do month long trips and to remove multiple bags every day and put them on becomes a hassle. 1 tail bag, 1 tank bag and 1 helmet is what i have narrowed my luggage down to.

I have a R40 and a R10 that i use on a KTM500, and the R40 is also used on a 690. However i have replaced the back straps on both the 10 and 40 with a "Gnoblin". So, so much easier to attach the bags, plus stops any sideways movement and rubbing if you start to get serious offroad. I also have replaced the front leg straps with Voile 32 inch XL straps. With these changes filling the 690 is very easy and quick. Even on the R80 you need to loosen and shift a top bag to get access to the filler through the hole. Another advantage of using Voile straps is adding permanent elastic tension to the legs. The camlock straps seem to loosen if you are bouncing around offroad. Last month did a 10 day, 3500km trip around the South Island of New Zealand that included the 2023 KTM Rallye of NZ on the 690, and refueling 2-3 times a day plus complete removal the R40 every night was effortless. Not sure how the Voiles would manage with a decent crash so l carry a couple of spares.
The R10 on the 500 with a 15L roll top duffle makes for a really minimalist arrangement. Did a 9 day trip easily, last November.

I have the Reckless 40 and 80 bags. The 40 is good for a few days if you pack similar to backpacking. Enough room for a 2 person tent, comfy air mattress, down bag, stove, etc.
Can even strap a chair to it. The molle webbing is great for adding extra pouches for small stuff.
Got the 80 for an upcoming TAT trip.
The thing I don't like on either one is the stinger pack that goes on top. It's a bit small for my purposes. I only use it as a tail bag on long day rides. I use a larger dry bag on top.

OMG I waited ages for this review from you!!! I found Mosko on a motorbike (and camping/outdoor) Convention in February. I saw the R40 and was in love, nearly no content on UA-cam about it but bought it anyway. I bought the rear fairing left and right for my bike as a new unpainted spare part which I will mount when using the bags. My first holiday with this bag is in June, I’m so happy to have them!

Loved the minimalists comments.Made me smile because I gravitate that direction but have found a happy medium. The comment below about not being able to get packed inner bag back in is just the nature of rackless luggage. The straps holding them on pulls bag in different places so when you pull inner bag out,the outer bag changes shape. I have tusk bags and encounter the same issue but Ive learned to deal with it. Also a fan of reactor bag liners which I noticed in vid. Ive had one for 8-9 years and never camp without it in my 2.5 lb one man tent and my 10oz 800 down quilt.😀

The trick is, don’t pack you bags brimful. I know it’s not optimal to buy bags with 40L capacity and only use 30. If you need all capacity of the R40, use a big luggage roll across the beaver tail instead of the tiny stinger 8. But still don’t pack the side bags too full. And if this still is not enough, get the Rackless 80.

Mosko Moto is very good quality kit... I especially like how you can mix and match parts from different kits to get the right configuration for your trip... from weekend adventure to extended tour. I did manage to break some straps when touring so one thing I will do is take spares next time (they're easy to swap out... another good feature).

Hi Ian, first of all thanks about all your videos, i love them and learn a lot from you. I have a ktm 500 and want to add a reckless system to put some staff like tools etc out of my back. I am deciding between Mojavi and Mosko R10... and is being hard. The Mojavi seem to be more integrated with the bike maybe better for daily use, but the Mosko system seem to be better for small trips and for putting something else on the top, but is more bulky...
The previous Mojavi was not waterproof, that was a bad point but the system to access to the staff was easier than now, where is top roll like others. Could you give some advise about what is better between these options and why? By other hand I have decided to buy the mosko 40 over the coyote for week trips, for me it seem to be a lot better system than Coyote, but in this case I'm not sure about what is better for me. Thanks!!!

Mosko are very well built but almost as heavy as hard luggage. Also the 40 does not have the hole for the fuel tank cap required for 690/701. In this regard the Tusk are much better. Also if you arrive at a hotel after a rain and want to take the bags indoors the MoskoMoto ones can be dirty in the upper part.

Nice gear. And since we’re on the subject of loading gear on to our bikes, I’d just like to mention that I strongly feel like someone out there really needs to step up the game within the heat shield department! These aftermarket options are just lacking in superior functionality in my opinion. I really don’t think that it would be something too difficult to fabricate to achieve better protection... I can’t be the only one who feels this way eh? I’m noticing on one of your bikes with the larger pieces of luggage, you have doubled up on these flimsy little things. Why can’t there be different sizes, or perhaps something that is adjustable, and could offer more protection and a better fitment? And I see on your other bike, with the minimal size luggage you have mounted on there, it appears to be barely protecting your investment from melting. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me...

My tool roll is probably my most expensive kit, but nothing in it cost more than €$30, except my No Pinch tool and Leatherman. A few merino tees, some €40 trousers, pants, socks, a wash kit, tyre levers, pump and a dirt cheap ebay special burner. Nothing worth stealing in Europe. Where, unless packed full, everything inside will be rattling around, shifting & constantly getting beat in any off road scenario. Then there’s not throwing your leg over the back to get saddled up anymore. Soft saddle bags may not offer the ‘security’ you’re after, but they do put the load in a FAR better position.
