What is your dream camera??? I could honestly sell my entire collection and only keep this FujiFilm X100V and be more than content!! This thing is a game-changer!!!
I've been shooting with Fujifilm cameras for 10 years, and I currently own the X100V, X-H2 and X-T4. I also own numerous Fujifilm lenses and I've owned every version of the X100 series. No doubt, I'm a Fujifilm fan, but I must he honest and unbiased by saying the X100V is being WAY overhyped. Yes, the X100V is a nostalgic and beautiful camera. Yes, I enjoy using the manual dials on the X100V. Yes, the OVF/EVF, leaf shutter, and internal ND filter (features that are rarely mentioned in all of the hype) are unique. Yes, there is something about the X100V that makes me want to take photos. However, the X100V doesn't produce any better photos than other recent Fujifilm cameras, or any other recent Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Panasonic, Leica etc. Also, film simulations aren't unique to the X100V. All Fujifilm cameras have the film simulations. Additionally, I've heard much hype about the X100V taking photos that "don't need editing." Though the X100V does produce high quality out of camera JPG images, so do all Fujifilm cameras, and once again, other brands of cameras do as well. Also, some out of camera JPGs do need editing! I believe much of the hype is due to most Gen Z and younger Millennials not knowing much about cameras, with the exception of the camera in their phones.
What would will be your recommendation for a beginner who wants it for both personal use and becoming a photographer?
I am fairly new to this but in my impression, many Fujifilm videos are all about feelings. I suppose if the device make you happy, you are gonna take good shots from it. I don't doubt its technical capability, but vs. reviews for other camera brands, they all spend much time talking about "how does it make you feel."
@@Luvbengs1I don't shoot modern Fuji's or digital much just vintage Fuji's and film but the best advice I got and now give is get an interchangeable lens camera even if it's an older model. Those will always perform much better than fixed lenses and offer upgrade paths if you wanna take photography a bit more seriously.
@@lolkthnxbai thank you
This cam is all about the fashion, pocketability, pickupability.. it's the GOAT for the Gram, the Tik, and the Tube.. being that so many creatives are out running and gunning.. the hype is real, but I think it's still underpriced and underhyped.. I am using x100vi currently.. very addicted I am.. after coming from Sony
I managed to get hold of this camera a week ago and have been transported back 40 years to when I was at school taking photos and developing the prints!! Nostalgia....yes, but even better!!!
Always love seeing people discover Fuji for the first time! They really have the fun part of photography down for me but so few people knew until recently!
Yeah they are at a whole different level
“I’ve always said…” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Takes ownership of the most common phrase in photography, I’m dying.
Great video content! I bought a used x100v on mpb for about 1250 after it had been out for six months. Best decision I have made on a used purchase. Not because of the low price but how happy I am taking pictures w it. I already owned a XH1 and then replaced it w an XH2. Having both the XH2 and x100v I can say they both serve very different use cases.
Picked this camera up last summer. Even though it's a little pricey for a point and shoot, the quality of photos and memories captured by always having this thing on me has paid for its weight in gold.
Couldn't agree more! Its so light and easy to have with you!
The best decision I made was getting this camera. I have about 7 camera film and digital. This has now been my most used camera. And as you said it’s a memory maker. My friend passed away the next day after I took amazing images of us at a dinner. If I didn’t have this camera those pictures most likely wouldn’t have been taken. I will keep this camera forever.
I first fell in love with Fuji cameras with the X-T20, loved it so much I decided to sell it and buy the new X-T4 at the time. For some reason it didn't feel the same.. so I sold the X-T4. Last June, I bought a lightly used X100V. No joke, I teared up while shooting street photography with it for the first time. I felt sooo connected to the camera and to my passion for photography.
Thanks to your recommendation, I invested in the Fuji x100F a few years ago, my very first camera of its kind. I must say, I have never looked back since! I still feel a rush of excitement every time I pick it up to capture a moment.
Completely agree, I was falling out of love with photography until I started using the x100v. Best digital camera ever made.
now im curious about the gfx100!
@@sawyerhartman I can see why! I’m curious about the xpro 3 that looks fun!
I'm so sick of negative videos on this camera. Thank you for exposing (😅) how amazing this lil fella is. I have an a74 w a few lenses, I use my x100v 1000000% more now. And I enjoy tf out of it too.
Love the Disney world photos! Ive been thinking this would be perfect to use there but I haven’t had the chance yet (i also have the x100f)
Can not agree more, i have X-Pro3 for a more “complex” situation, but even with the prev version X100F, it always become my quick grab camera everytime
Good review! I love mine, though I did need to get it repaired at one point. A word on the app, naturally make sure to make your phone visible to other devices via bluetooth in the main phone / tablet settings. I'm nearly certain you have. The main thing that really screws with the app is having it near other wifi / bluetooth devices. I always have to walk away from the crowd and use it, then it'll connect. If it's in a room with a lot of tech buzzing signals back and forth it just gets confused and lost. When it works, the app is fine, and I use it a lot after a shoot to get clients instant pics to share on social media after a quick bit of s-curve action on my Lightroom on my tablet, but it's getting that initial connection between camera and app that's a real pain!
Many congrats on getting married!! Excellent video - totally agree with all your points .. especially the app 🤣
Picked this camera at launch and honestly, I was a little bit worried about how that would turn to be. But today I see the price increase and the stock problems and I can’t be happy enough. This is a memory maker.
Yup best way to describe it! ill probably never sleep on a new launch again lol
I filmed a wedding and had the x100v on my hip constantly shooting random images through out the day. Turned out the bride like the x100v photos more than her photographers she hired 🤣
hahhahahahhaha that should be their ad
Very good video. Indeed this x100v is the ONE !
Agreed! I really wanna try the gfx tho with simulations now!
I have the X100f absolutely love it. Had a chance of a X100v but I have a Q as well, it’s FF, killer lens and image quality is better, tape over the red dot and no one will ever know 😆🥳
Which works out fine for me, as EyE don’t want one. As an old school manual shooter who doesn’t vibe a hoot about video or action photography, & the Trans2 being my favorite sensor, I own & shoot with my sweet spot in the E line, an X-E2. I also shoot with it’s Trans2 stablemate X-T1, with no intention of “upgrading”.
Congrats🥂
Great video❤, which Programm are you using for creating your video?😊
I just got a used X-Pro 2, for half the money.
Very happy
I haven’t had the chance to get my hands on this camera yet. I regularly shoot on a Fuji XT5. I love it. I’d love to get your review on the xt5
Id love to get my hands on a Xt5!
Glad I got mine sometime back.
As for the app. I think you will more successful connections using the BlueTooth connection. Works best for me instead of the Pain in the *** wifi connection.
As for lens. There are a couple of converters that screw on to the front of the lens. WCL100 converts to a 28mm and the TCL100 will convert to a 50mm.
I did notice that you failed to mention the built in 4 stop ND filter. Previously only available in photo mode, but FUJI put out a firmware update that enables it in video mode now.
Enjoyed your video and congrats on your upcoming nuptials.
I will try that!
@@sawyerhartman Let me know how it works out for you. 👍
(Question)
so…what would be the scenario for when, once, or if ever we get a chance of obtaining new ones in stock for it’s MSRP Price?
Nice video what AF settings are using, thanks
I bought mine cause it reminded me of a Leica cl I had many years ago, used it passionately for a couple years, and never got over it. Still used a Nikon f2 for work, but had the Leica for off duty, or impromptu work. That model was made by Minolta actually, or the body was.
The x100v is the closest I’ve gotten to replace it.
I agree, its just like my leica! But with the built in flash and autofocus.... I dont know which is better hahahha
Waited for ages. Then got the X-E4 w/pancake lens. (Already have the X-T4 & lenses) Though not exactly the same, very close to the X100V but with lens flexibility. I WAS looking forward to the range-finder thing, though! Cheers.
Been wanting to get my hands on the X-E4! Are you happy with it??
The hype surrounding this camera is ridiculous. It's a totally fine camera, nostalgic and relatively portable. I somehow managed to get one a few months ago and glad I have it, but honestly the hype is doing it no favours. Too many people are falling over themselves to buy it and end up reselling as it's so niche, and those who actually want it and would love it are having to buy inflated 2nd hand ones
been trying since November to get one, so so good.
I cannot believe how popular they have become! I mean I guess I can because I freaking love it... but still, November is a long time!!
@@sawyerhartman I really thought the TikTok fad would blow over. But 2.5-3k for one is insane!! But as you show, they are phenomenal every day carries that really bring back that joy of photography to get out of the “this is my job” creative funk. Can’t wait to get my hands on one soon enough. I second the person who wants some recipes you like!
Great Video!!
Thanks brother!!!
How were you able to finally get your hands on one? Is it second hand or you put an order in that finally got fulfilled?
Best x100v review
Congratulations on your getting married :)
Your video presentation was wonderful 😊😊
Hey thank you man!!
You're a real quick one, if you only now detect Fuji film simulations. I'm impressed - wow.
hahaha I had the x100f, but I had forgotten the beauty of not having the edit!
I always said with cameras like that stolen shots are always the best shots you can get!! Congratulations on your upcoming marriage my friend! I’m sorry I haven’t been keeping up with your content lately! 😍
I couldn't agree more!!
100%. I own one. Love it. But. I need another camera. Cg
Hello.
Advise how to connect with app.
Turn on fujifilm video mode and in manual go to the ladt one 3 th: "wireless communication" press that and turn on your smartphone the app and press import images or live view shooting and Waite for
15 sec.
I just finally got a hold of the camera. The app really is the worst, but I have found a consistent way to get it to work:
- when you turn on the wireless communication, press the OK button (this tells the camera the phone it’s trying to pair to is not the one you want to pair to. For some reason the phone is incorrect).
- on your phone, make sure you are connected to the Fuji WIFI and then open the app.
- it should connect and when you hit the transfer button it should prompt on the camera to press OK to begin transmitting.
- transmit photos!
Hope that helps you or anyone else!
I saw the golden retriever and pressed like before even finishing the video lol. Golden’s 100% my fave dog breed
hahhaa they are magical!
Any links for the camo wrap you have? The Red thumb bar? The red button? Thank you!
Did you find the source? Thanks LE: I've found it on Amazon, Aliexpress, etc
Need this camera 📷
You should have a look at some vintage lenses on a compact Apsc camera, the shots you take, look very similar to some old pancake lenses i use. Also pocket size and cheaper ...
nice!!!
Congratulations on the wedding! Still got to get with you on a range day.
heck yeah!
I’ve a T, 2 F’s and now a V. Love them all and used the built in ND filter all the time. Here’s something I’ve discovered but heard no one mention: the 3stop ND was perfect.
Shooting in bright afternoon light wide open at ISO 160, I get the red, 2000+ SS warning, but when I turn on the 4stop ND the SS drops to between 160 and 250.
That’s much too slow and NOT a versatile range. Have that at only f2.8. As I said, at 3stops this would have been a SS around 360-500. Does anyone else wonder why Fuji upped the ND filter to 4stops? Every talks like this is an improvement. What am l missing?
Where can I find the best Fujifilm recipes?
Had one and sold it, i still shoot fuji but i couldnt get on with the 100v 🤷🏻♂️
Since she came out i wanted to upgrade my X100IV. Simply not possible to get one sadly. But my old one is good too and i love her till the new one is available.
Ill post a new film simulation soon that will get you through ;)
I just got one off MPB... Iddk how, but i did.
Would love if you would share your favorite recipes! 😊
Canon offers the same but no one talks about it. Canon offer profiles and you can load your own to the camera using a USB cable. There are website where you buy the profiles and load them. The end result is a JPEG already edited using your preferred profile.
You schould look into the Ricoh GR series. Even more pocketable with a razor sharp lens like the X100V .
Really?! May have to try one someday!
The GR series is a nice camera, but it's no Fujifilm.
for that you have X-E4 to change lenses....
🤞
The simple reason is that you want to take this everywhere because you "can". You "can"not say that for other cameras due to their size. This is the same reason why I picked up an Xe4 with 27mm pancake lens. It's like you have the power of an APSC sensor in the size of an iPhone Pro max.
You're absolutely right!
I don’t know what kind of pants you wear but my x100v doesn’t fit into my jeans,
If you really want a truly pocketable camera that will blow your mind try the Ricoh gr iii x!
Iphone could do the same pictures?
The problem with the xe4 is that there are no pancake 23mm lenses. The 23 f2 has terrible close-up iq and the 23 1.4 is like 3 times bigger than the x100v lens
Love to have one but its out of stock.
It was my dream so my dream paused .🤣🤣
I’m searching high and low!
B&H photo still have them
Why is it camo in some shots and black in others?
your eyes must be broken my friend, its white throughout the entire video
Get the 100F ..... Its also good. Its not the camera anyway its the Photographer. Chase Jarvis said "Its the Camera you have with you"
Yup Agreed 500%
Could you please drop your reciepes ?
As well as best settings / tutorials
Would love to know how to use mine better.
Yeah I can do a whole video on them!
@@sawyerhartman plzz
You got it! Mind subscribing? ;)
Have you tried the Q2? It’s the ONLY camera you’ll ever need.
Congratulations on your wedding.
Thanks Dolan!!
Just go to Hong Kong , plenty of x100v there
I've wanted an X100 series cameras for a couple years and now that I'm looking for one I'm shocked that they are 2-3x the price they were just a couple years ago
I know! Its crazy how popular they have become!!!
Crazy how it’s sold out in 2021 I had thre chance to buy a second hand but wanted to save money and got x100f instead . Now I regret . The film simulation is much better
I have been shooting Fujifilm since 2014 and the app has always sucked. Everyone complains about the app but Fujifilm never seems to hire people who can code.
People LOVE what they can't get. Thats part of the reason it's sold out. Brilliant marketing by Fuji.
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.
Thanks Sam! Idk tho, I think it may be sold out because of how fun it is to shoot on!
@@sawyerhartman I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. Ive have the X100T for years now and you’re right because that camera is awesome and the V is much newer.
It’s sold out because Fuji has had supply/chip issues for awhile and they are putting more resources into their recent (and more expensive) new products.
Great camera but yours is the wrong color 🙂
0:55 "it's a point and shoot camera"
No, it isn't.
Overhyped, it’s just a camera. Channels like this are causing people to make buying decisions that they will regret later.
Ahem, the X-T4, X-E4, the X-H1 and the X-S10 can all take the same photo, but have interchangeable lenses, and the X-T5 and X-H2 take better photos. Way too much hype for this camera, sucking in the gullible.
