Cool video! I struggled to figure out which lens hood models you were talking about though, maybe in your chapters you could put the product names or state them at the start/end of each section.
Nice vid! Regarding the shutter: From what I understand, the issue with the x100__ and the soft shutter is that the larger button can get caught and actually pull on the internals of the mechanism and dislodge/rip it out just a enough. I've read that it's one of the most common issues that the FujiFilm repair center deals with. It usually messes up the half-press function or outright breaks the release altogether. Just an FYI :)
godox came out with a cute lil flash last year that matches this silver and black aesthetic, highly recommend if you're looking for another option for a super compact flash for x100 cameras
I can also recommend a FLD Filter with some of the FLD recepies. Also the Tiffen Black Satin 1/2 is nice. It gives you that glow without lifting the blacks or losging contrast.
Wild - I just got done watching a B&H video about this camera and I was thinking, "wish I could find what that square lens hood that looks like a Leica...." and your video was the next that popped up. haha
Thanks for this! I knew about all the squarehoods and peak design straps, but the grip for x100 and the flash were new to me. Should indeed pair nicely with my wcl!
Well well, guess what arrived in the mail today. I opted for the red sandalwood version of the wepoto hand grip. Looks great on my black X100F. You were right, with the WCL it provides excellent balance and grip. Love it! Thanks for the tip
I love the Moment Cinebloom but pity it doesn't work with my Squarehood Mark V. Another accessory that I feel works really well, although is not limited to, the X100 series are the Fuji Instax printers. Every since Zack Arias wrote about it in a blog of his many years ago, I've always just thrown one of the Instax Share printers into my camera bag since it's just great to be able to send a print straight from the camera or your phone and hand it to someone.
I too bought the small silver shutter button(personally I prefer the convex version). I have found that it works very well if you use the shutter button to also auto-focus, but if like me, you use BBF I would suggest you use the additional button without the rubber washer as this gives a much more tactile and positive feel to actually taking the shot. If you have already done your focusing with BBF, the soft squishy(?) feeling you get with the washer can be very off-putting and frustrating in my humble opinion. Definitely worth the few £'s/$'s it costs. My tip for anyone who might want to follow my advice and not use the rubber washer is that the extra button can unscrew itself in a pocket or bag, but you can solve this issue by using a tiny amount (and I do mean TINY amount)of low or medium strength thread-lock like Loctite. Btw, and I can't emphasise this too much, PLEASE don't use too much!!
Thanks for this video. Good topic! X100s really adapt well to many different accessories. Such a great camera to accessorise! I couldn’t find the round lens ring you feature listed in the description. Could you share this info plz? The Cinebloom is the 5 or 10%? And does adding the lens ring and the cinebloom filter solve the WR issue ? Thanks
Why ISO640 for max DR? Aren’t the Fuji sensors ISO invariant (have I got that right?) so they always shoot base ISO and the apparent increase in ISO is just boosting the output?
@@benjhaisch oh I guess the slrmagic anamorphic adapter might work better. Much smaller, more manageable vignette, there is even an option for 2x squeeze.
I’m not seeing a link from your list of the square hood that fits the cinebloom filter, I think it’s #4. You keep saying “they” instead of the company name or item model. What one is that? I’d be happy to use one of your affiliate links.
Hi Benj .. Another great video. You specifically mentioned the Moment Cinebloom filters. Do they fit with both Squarehood brand hoods (Model P & V) ? Thanks !
My question to you also is.....what model of the Squarehood did you have attached to the WCL lens in the video. Model P does not fit the front of the WCL x100 II! (To small and has female threads).
I've searched high and low to figure out which lens hood you have on the x100v WCL Adapter and I cannot find it anywhere! Can you please reply with what lens hood you have on the adapter? I get it that its from Squarehood but is it Model P, Model V, or something different? Thanks for making awesome videos! Much appreciated
Dropping this everywhere I can… Don’t update your X100V firmware via the app. I now have a bricked camera and Fujifilm have been pretty terrible about it.
Hi! Thank so much for this video. Question! Would I buy the 37mm moment filter if I have the Fuji x100 f model? Would I need anything else for it to work? I just got the camera and very new to all of this. Thank you!!
17:40 Any specific flashes that you would recommend for the X100V? I have one and I've always wanted to get another big flash for it. I was looking at the FUJIFILM EF-60 Shoe Mount Flash, what are your thoughts? anything to keep in mind?
Hi Benj. I am curious. Based on this video I bought the Model P Squarehood for my x100V and the WCL-X100ii. I have no problems with it fitting the camera without the WCL. However I attached the hood to the WCL with the tiny set screws and it scratched the lens when I tried to adjust it without loosening those set screws. Are you using something that would prevent this or do you clamp the hood directly onto the lens? Thanks.
Hey, yeah, I never noticed but it looks like I have a small scratch on the outside of my lens from that as well. I guess you could put some sort of felt or something on the end of the screw to keep it from touching, but I just have used it without really worrying about it. I’ve always just adjusted with the screws.
In a conversation with a Fujifilm tech he told me that the add on shutter buttons result in damage to the button and repairs. He receives these and knows.
Wanted to add a note on this, the Haoge LH-X54B comfortably fits a filter within the adapter ring and hood. If you need to remove the filter, you can just unscrew the hood from the adapter, then the filter without needing any tools like the Squarehood version.
@@FC000 Imagine having to carry more tools to do a simple filter swap. While I do agree that the Squarehood looks good on the camera, it costs way more and it is way less practical.
Puzzled why you would need a variable ND, except for movie shoots. With stills you can shoot electronic shutter up to 1/32,000 sec on all but the VI model, which can shoot 1/180,000sec Combine these with the builtin 4 stop ND filter and no need for anything else. BTW, flash sync goes to 1/4,000sec.
my guy has 8 of them in this video no wonder why ive been waiting forever for mine
You’re the man Benj! Thanks for the kind words friend!
The best part about the x100V and VI is that it brought a ton of new people into real or intentional photography.
@@itsacookie1 pretty much

This hood, that hood, names the cinebloom filter, but never the hood. The whole video is unnecessary now
I love the Peak Design Strap button connection. As for other stuff, I really like it stripped down and lean.

I love your videos and obviously family photos, please make more videos with photos taken with x100v .
The Moment 5% truly is the best one for the X100V; the lens sharpness and contrast compliments that filter so well.
7:23 dang that is satisfying i need a loop and so do u here u go
The Lensmate thumb grip for the X100 series also should have made the list. Love mine.
what makes it better than the small rig one? I just bought the small rig, cause it was the only one available in a local store here I Norway.
Excellent summary of good X100v accessories. Can you provide the reference of the WCL-X100II lens hood.
Best regards

Hi Ben, great comprehensive video! Will you share what speedlight is that at 17:05 ? Just in case I might bump it in the used camera shop around here
Starblitz Swan27 i think but im not sure, i made a screenshot and used Google Lens lol 😉

Love the Peak Design clips. I have them on all of my cameras. Not big on filters, but I do love the WCL on my X100F. Nice collection of options.
So happy for being able to get the original Fuji ef-x20 flash at a reasonable price for my x100v, its gorgeous 🥰
Best Review out there. Was looking fo a video like this just perfect thanks
The hand strap is by far my favorite accessory. I use one on my X100 and it's been great.
I can also recommend a FLD Filter with some of the FLD recepies. Also the Tiffen Black Satin 1/2 is nice. It gives you that glow without lifting the blacks or losging contrast.
Also the weather “proofing” on the VI is exactly the same as on the V.

What are your thoughts on the teleconverter lens?

Thanks for the detailed video, much appreciated mate !!!
What do you use to protect the camera from scratches? Any case that fits the camera with the hood attached to it?
Great video!
Hey, which hood is hood #4, the one that accommodates the Cinebloom filter? Is it the Model P Squarehood?
You quickly jumped through the iso 640 being the optimal ISO for JPEG dynamic range, If that's the minimum, what's the max or is there a max?
if I'm just trying for max DR on jpegs, I'll just stick it at 640. haven't really messed with anything else tbh
Why ISO640 for max DR? Aren’t the Fuji sensors ISO invariant (have I got that right?) so they always shoot base ISO and the apparent increase in ISO is just boosting the output?
Does the model v lens hood fit with the cinebloom filter as well? Thank you very much :)
x100v and x100f hand grip are the same?
Ben, What rings did you add to attach the peak design clip to the camera?
Which one is lenshood #4 that fits the cinebloom?
Since you added the lens converters I’m curious about how the moment anamorphic adapter would work
haha I actually played with it yesterday just as a joke, but it's ENORMOUS on this camera and won't cover the full sensor because of the wider lens
@@benjhaisch oh I guess the slrmagic anamorphic adapter might work better. Much smaller, more manageable vignette, there is even an option for 2x squeeze.
Is there a viewfinder that fits into the hot shoe? I don’t like screens and would rather compose this way like a film camera.
It has its own EVF/OVF viewfinder
